There are 2-3 bars in the small area and most seating is outdoors in sandy areas (gives beach club vibes). We were visiting during World Cup and had some decent sized TV's set up. As mentioned it is outdoors, we visited during a hotter/more humid spell and bugs could be an issue. They do have several fans available, but then you deal with being "blasted" by a fan. Service- Very nice. From hostess to server we have no complaints. Our server even went above and beyond for our 5 yo. Food/Beverage- This is where we were a bit bummed. Not a super extensive menu and mostly sandwich type food. Honestly a "seafood" version of a bar menu. I use quotes because most of the seafood options were fried (fried shrimp app, fried fish tacos, fried chicken sandwich). I personally had the tuna burger and did really enjoy it. (Tip/ ask for the Old Bay/honey wing sauce to dip your fries...sooo good) We didn't do a ton of research on this restaurant, but drove by earlier in our trip and decided to have a nice dinner while watching the water/boats. Given the mostly hand held menu, I'd say this is definitely more of a lunch or quick stop. Not much by the way of entrees. First time here! Would've had to wait an hour for outside seating but we said inside would be ok and got seated right away! Lower Case Blues is rocking the house (Live) 2 orders Fish and Chips a Shrimp basket and Some Fried Scallops And a Greek Salad. Food came out hot and very tasty! Portion consistency was off on the Fish & Chips size of fish portion and amount of Fries! Seasoning on the fries was a bit much also! My wife thought that there was an overbearing overload of olives in her Greek salad & the breading on the Fried Scallops was very salty. Great Beach atmosphere and outdoor space. Having visited this dockside marina bar and grill multiple times for lunch and dinner, as noted in my previous reviews, I will summarize our two most recent visits. This outdoor spot is located near the marina entrance and features a nice setting with palm trees. They frequently have a live band. Our first recent visit was on a Wednesday during happy hour with a friend visiting from Scottsdale, AZ. The front parking lot was completely full, so I had to park in the rear lot. The place was packed with customers, and we had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. While waiting, I bought three cocktails from the bar, including a weak margarita with a salted rim served in a plastic cup, and we managed to grab two bar stools while enjoying the live band. Once our table was ready, I ordered and enjoyed two Cruzan Pain Killers for $12 each, which contained Cruzan dark rum, cream of coconut, orange juice, pineapple juice, and a sprinkle of nutmeg. I also really liked the tuna poke for $18, which came with avocado, radish, soy ginger dressing, and spicy mayo over sushi rice. We continued to enjoy the live music, and my total bill came to $98 before gratuity. We came back with our friends on a Sunday around 2 PM and parked in the rear lot again. There was no live music on this visit, and since the venue was not busy, we easily got a table for four in the sand. I ordered the two Cruzan Pain Killers for $12 each and the tuna poke for $18 again, both of which were excellent. We also split an order of the Dockside Buffalo chicken wings, which were great because they were very moist, flavorful, and not burnt. Jodi J. provided excellent service. The total bill before tip was $83, but after using a $30 Atlas reward credit, my net cost was just $53, and I also earned $53 in Atlas reward credits. Well, I though the food quality slid after Hammerheads lost the concession. They did improve over a couple years, but the real reason to go is the atmosphere and the music. Now that the Atlas group acquired the Big Fish group, the menus have changed again. Drinks menu is pretty similar, but gone are the seared tuna appetizers and the tater tots loaded with stuff. You can still get tots as a side, and for $6, it's a generous portion. We tried the smoked fish dip. Think you might be getting the delicious smoked trout from the Big Fish Market? Nope. It's rather mild in mild, I didn't detect any smoke flavor and, this is interesting, it's served with chips. Yup, a bag of potato chips to hold the dip! Actually, the salt and flavor of the chips help the otherwise bland dip. Friends got the crab dip salad and that looked pretty good, so will try that next time. If you like Old Bay, bring it along. It's not in the spice container anymore (actually, they had a different brand that was very salty and not as flavorful as Old Bay. Multiple servers are running food and drinks, so they sometimes get misdirected to tables...at least in the bar area. Very friendly servers and they are eager to make you happy. This is the kind of restaurant I would expect in Sheepshead Bay, in San Diego, anywhere with a view of a marina, water, boats, and lovely weather to boot. Even though I went here when the weather was crappy, the food is anything but that, as well as the service, and that is enough for me to give this review an extra bump in my rating. When you offer shrimp tacos, or even fish tacos, it is an invitation to see if I can pair them up with some of the best that I have had in San Diego. San Diego has some of the best fish and shrimp tacos out there short of Mexico. Thankfully, while San Diego certainly holds its own, this one is a tough competitor as you get three stuffed tacos with plenty of shrimp. Everything in it is tasty! In fact it is quite messy. I needed to wear a makeshift bib so I would not get anything on me and I still failed. Any restaurant along the water is going to get an automatic three stars. Everything else adds to it. The fun music, and it is pet friendly too, as the staff made everybody from canine to human feel welcome and valued. I can only imagine what this restaurant is like during high season. For now, I can take it for what it is and would be happy to eat here again. read more

I've been twice. The first time I would say I'd come here every weekend. But the second time, different story. Food the first time hit the spot and was so appetizing. The second time time the tacos just felt soggy and not to the same standards thy held that first time. The majority of tables are outside; it was a bit too chilly for an al fresco dinner, so we got takeout. Everything was delicious! I had the shrimp salad wrap - it was tasty and fresh. Hubby ordered a tuna burger which had avocado and a nice aioli. He liked it. Daughter had a Nashville hot chicken-style sandwich. Not too spicy & that was good as well. Love the ambiance here, and they open early at 7:30 a.m., which is great. I've come a few times for lunch and always enjoyed it. I've tried their blackened fish tacos, soft shell crab sandwich, and crab cake sandwich. My favorite was their soft shell crab sandwich, followed by their crab cake sandwich. Their crab cake is probably the second best I've had in Delaware, but the soft shell crab sandwich was insanely good--it's an off-the-menu item, so make sure to ask for it. Seth, the manager hooked us up with an amazing table and the Matthew Street band was playing, and they were really excellent.The crowd was really into it even though people were eating dinner, they were into the band. They played a lot of great rock 'n' roll hits and the service was awesome even though it was busy. There were a lot of people but they didn't rush us out. Our waitress, Cindy was amazing. The Dockside Marina Bar & Grill has great food. The fish dip with chips is very tasty and it's not too smoky flavored and not slathered in mayo. It was topped with Old Bay and had Chips,celery and carrots for dipping, and we used our spoons to get each drop. The Tuna burger had a generous portion of Tuna and the avocado and spicy mayo gave the sandwich amazing flavor. The Blackened Fish Tacos was seasoned well. They had a green crema, pickled slaw, and cilantro, which combined gave the 3 tacos a great flavor, I loved it. The ambiance is cool, it's mostly outdoor but on a cool day it's pleasant. The restaurant was busy and the service was great. They have such great food I'm planning what I'll try at my next visit. read more

We celebrated a dear friend's birthday there on a night when "Hot Sauce" was playing from 5 to 8PM. Great crowd, great drinks, wonderful atmosphere on one of the prettiest nights of the summer. But the real star of the show was our server, Faith, who did an absolutely amazing job taking care of our large party. She was extremely attentive to our bunch of rowdies and kept the beverages and food flowing all evening. She also had another large party seated next to us and they seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we were. Faith handled the section like a real pro, which is quite a testament to her skills since this is her first job as a server. Don't go for the drinks unless it comes in a can. Our group had some orange crushes that were terrible with limes that were brown. And we were there on a Saturday early evening. The drinks tasted like they had orange rind in them. We all threw them out. But the music was great. So I gave it 2 stars for the music. read more

The location is nice with a great view of the water, and the drinks were solid. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to the setting. Several people in our group ordered salads that were completely drenched in olive oil, and all three salads came out slightly incorrect. Two chicken Caesar salads came out with raw chicken in the middle. The chicken was sent back for additional cooking, but I had lost my appetite by then. Other food ordered was just below average. Service was also lacking. Our server was not able to answer simple questions about the menu. They also did not bring out plates for our appetizers, leaving us awkwardly waiting with the food in front of us for several minutes. Adding to all of this, the food is extremely overpriced. Dockside overlooks the massive boats sitting side by side in the shadow of the bridge leading to Bethany Beach. The atmosphere is what draws large crowds to its Tiki style decor with imported palm trees. In my opinion I rate the menu as " fair ". There isn't anything on this tired food list worth ordering if you're interested in something special. Ordered the chicken appetizer ( see photo). I mean, really? They offered 5 small chunks of deep fried chicken that wasn't worth the price. The fish tacos seemed to be a favorite as they served many of the patrons, so we ordered it. Very disappointing. The fish n chips were served with a plate of French fries and fish sticks. In fairness, they were made from real pieces of cod. If you're looking to have drinks with a bunch of friends in a pleasant atmosphere, this is a good place. If you're looking for good food and some special seafood creations, find another restaurant. read more

The service, drinks and atmosphere is always excellent at Dockside. The food on the other hand needs improvement. I understand it's early in the season but not impressed with the quality. My wife and our guest had ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap. The wrap had maybe 2 oz of chicken in it and it was fried chicken. It clearly didn't state fried chicken. We also ordered a side of Tots that came out barely cooked. I ordered the Blacked Catfish Sandwich. The portion of fish was good but it had no flavor. Maybe add a bit more spice and try and get a crust on the fish. The tartar sauce was even bland, more like just mayo. Try adding some mustard, relish and old bay to help it along. While we were waiting for our food , I noticed the Smash burger like last year is just 2 patties with onion. I'd be glad to help in anyway because it's a great location. read more

The atmosphere was beautiful even though a storm is on its way. The tacos were delish and not heavy. My hubby got a BLT with fries. He says it was great. A lot of bacon. The crabby tots were ok but for $18 I was expecting a little more. The crispy fish tacos were really good.
