**in response to the owners comment, we never met you. We didn't send food back nor did we request new food, and you, nor anyone else EVER brought me any additional drink on the house. I only had the one I paid for. There's no need to lie, bad days happen. This is not a speakeasy, this is a restaurant cosplaying as a speakeasy. That may be a bit harsh, it's a speakeasy in training. Sure, it's got all of the speakeasy decor, blackout curtains over the windows and doors, and a big selection of pedestrian liquor but it's not quite there. We went in on an early evening on Wed and there were maybe 5 other patrons in there. Our waitress was nice and brought us water to the high top. She brought us two food menus, and a specials menu. I asked for a bourbon list and she brought it; no prices on the list. Annoying. On the specials menu there was a small section of manager recommended drinks and one was a Willet. The way it was written was confusing because it said it was both a 4 year and 14 year for $52, so I asked for clarification on the age statement. She took the menu to the barkeep, who confirmed it was a 14 year so I said yes I'll have that. A drink was brought to me, but I could tell from the taste that it was not what I ordered. I asked the waitress for the bottle, she asked the guy behind the bar for the bottle and he pulled down a willet pot still bottle (pot still is the entry level Willet and at best a 5 dollar pour, no where near what I asked for). I told her that I was given the wrong drink, then she approached the bar and between her, and the male and female bartenders they had a weird back and forth conversation. Then, finally they pulled down the bottle that I asked for, that was advertised, and gave me a pour of it. I asked to see the bottle and the waitress brought it over but held it instead of putting it on the table (it was a 13 year Willet, Paper Trail). As we were about to order we were told that they reset the menu the very day before, with the focus of putting more love and care into the food. Feeling good about that, we ordered the French quarter catfish and the bourbon braised short ribs. The corn that came with the short ribs tasted straight out of a store bought steamable pouch, and the "ribs" weren't ribs at all, just sliced meat. The only redeemable thing about the catfish dish was the aioli; the rice had no flavor, the corn was cold and hard, and the catfish was mostly breading. We both took a few bites and resigned. I have been to many speakeasies around the US, and there are common themes: a much better selection of liquor; 95% of the bourbon were low tier bottles you can find in any liquor store for around $50. Also, when customers ask for the bottle, it isn't because we plan to steal it or drink from it, its because we're genuinely interested in the information on the labels. The quickest way to get people to stop spending money is to make them feel as if they can't be trusted touching a bottle. Overall had a great experience here and would suggest people stop in for themselves. We walked in a few nights before Christmas and it appeared to be just finishing a huge rush. Sat relatively fast and our server (forget his name) gave us a heads up that the kitchen was behind. We ordered then expecting to wait but the food came out very fast. Everyones meals were excellent, from the pork belly appetizer, burgers, seared fish sandwich, huuge hot dog, and nachos. Our server was very attentive and got us everything we needed quickly. It was okay nothing special for the price, was in Wednesday afternoon and got a smash burger and another sandwich dish that resembled A sloppy Joe. It was fine I would give the food 2.5/3 stars the drinks we got definitely were bourbon heavy no complaints but again nothing special flavor wise. Such a hidden treasure. We were a party of 8 with a baby and service dog. We were greeted and quickly seated. For appetizers, we had the deviled eggs and the pretzels. The deviled eggs were amazing topped with pulled pork. We had many different meals, including the chicken and waffles the cheesesteak chicken fingers and the melt. Everything was delicious. Might have been the best cheesesteak I've ever had. The place is decorated in prohibition decor and it is so cool, not over done. You really feel transcended back to the prohibition era. It is behind the Iron Hill Brewery (which recently closed), so that is the building in front you see from the highway. The local was our go/to for great burgers! We had company inTown and raved about how great their burgers are! Tonight was not a good night. The food took over 40 minutes to come out. Waiter was busy and they were definitely understaffed. The burgers were tiny (no knife in middle like usual) and served open face which was strange and very underwhelming. It looked like they forgot to add some things and then put the bun on top. Zero kitchen quality control to serve what we were given. The burger was thin and there was more bun than burger! Also flies buzzing around, some black things inside water cup, and the drinks were not good either. Not sure if they are cutting back on food costs, but their quality has gone way down hill since we came a few months ago. Not sure we will return- read more

My family (a group of 12) had a 3:30 reservation, and while we were probably a bit challenging, Erica and the team were incredibly patient and accommodating. We truly appreciated their efforts to keep my extended family happy throughout our meal.I'll admit 302 was not my choice for food, but I was pleasantly surprised and happy to have gone. The atmosphere was relaxed with a modern coastal vibe, offering cozy seating and a lively bar area. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy good food and drinks. I started with the smoked Old Fashioned from happy hour, which was a great choice. In the chaos of getting settled I didn't look at the menu, but Erica recommended the McCoy Burger, and it did not disappoint--it was delicious! We shared the happy hour nachos as well. While not the nachos I expected, it was still a good size to share, and they were tasty. There were a few small hiccups with the order, which is understandable with a large group, but the staff went out of their way to make things right. Overall, I'd highly recommend visiting 302 The Local. My wife and I are looking forward to returning for a more peaceful experience without the large group. A cozy outdoor area with comfy seating and fire bowl is available to those who prefer the outdoors. Inside has a variety of high tops, long communal tables, traditional tables and seats, and tables with couches and armchairs seating just like the speakeasies of movies! The pork belly bites and Bavarian pretzel were delicious apps, particularly the beer cheese! We ordered a shrimp jambalaya which was delicious. The breaded fried chicken sandwiches with chips and fries were tasty. And the cheesy grits and shrimp was presented with simple artistry. This is a new establishment (4 weeks in operation) and is understandably working out the kinks of a new restaurant. We waited quite a long time for service due to the low ratio of service staff to customers. Our server was friendly and helpful and did the best she could with the number of customers she had! I am sure as they get the rhythm of the customer cycles down, service will continue to improve! My family loved the variety of adult libations including gluten free options and Hefeweizens (Pauliner is a favorite). It was very busy and therefore nousy, but the food here (yes, I know it's reaching for the whiskey drinking crowd) is FABULOUS! Our app was the burnt ends and each bite had me swooning in ecstasy. I asked about the sauce, too bad it's not for sale by the bottle ( unless you have a Sysco account, amazingly). For dinner we had the dream wiener and the shepherds pie, two items we are very lucky about. They deserve a 12 stars out of the usual 5. Great food , let's begin there. Everyone loved their food, every single meal. And great decor, really cool. But logistics were an issue from start to finish. First, we got a reservation and were told we had reserved a high top table. When we got there, the Hostess couldn't find our reservation. Then, she told us no one could reserve a high top table. Our guess is she never knew about the reservation and a walk-in party came in minutes before and took our table. Next, she realized her mistake and gave us a 7 top in an area for a 4 top. She even had to ask a couple to get up so she could move their booth; this place is not organized. We got sat at our cramped table and waited 10 minutes for service. That first visit got us 3 glasses of water, that's it. 10 minutes later, our drinks were ordered, 4 minutes after that we got 3 more glasses of water. Next, I was given another tables' drink order, only to give it back. I then realized the party that walked in after us had drinks and an appetizer and we didn't get drinks or order food yet. How did that happen?!?!?!?!? We finally got our drinks and ordered our food but that was the last drink I was able to order. Never was given a swing-by visit. I'm usually a 2 drink person at a meal so it always annoys me when I want to spend more $ and I can't get an opportunity to do so. The Hostess by the way never got up to help, could not be bothered. She wasn't a teenager, she was a 50-year-old who couldn't keep her reservations straight and apparently couldn't run food or get extra drink orders. She just sat there while we were not served. I want to give props to Mike because he worked the entire time we were there, he just had no help. Looked like he had 70% of the tables to himself, not sure why, but the Hostess could not have cared any less. Conclusion--great food, I would get take out everyday. While it was a pleasant experience to try something new, it didn't leave a lasting impression for a return visit. I would definitely suggest switching out to new menus or covering them in some sort of plastic encasement. Ours were pretty sticky and had several dried spill marks/food smudges on them.
