Went to woodys after a long day on the trail. We we're greeted by a crabby bar tender that called herself the day time manager. There was no one in the place and she asked for my ID. That's fine with me since I'm about to drop off the 50 ledge. I showed it to her and she said. We need to scan it. I have been to woodys many times in the past. Never had to have my ID scanned. I told her that and she chewed me out and wanted to know when I had been there so she could write up the bar tender. Well all I can say is when she handed me my ID I headed for the door. I will never be back. I recommend you go somewhere else if you want to have a peaceful and relaxing drink. read more

What a shithole. What is it about hipsters that they love wallowing in filth to brag about drinking in a "dive bar"? The place smelled, so we went out to the patio. It stunk even worse out there. Sat there for 10 minutes waiting for a server to even bring us a menu, which she never did. It turns out it was the girl standing at the table right next to us talking with some regulars that completely ignored us for 10 minutes. Just as well, as it looked like you'd get a disease from her if she came too close. And I don't mean the clap, I mean botulism. Great bar with great potential! Food was good and staff was pretty good! However! We visited during Super Bowl and the owner was there. WHAT A SNOB!!! She was rude from the word go! Spent 4 days in Moab seeing Canyonlands and Arches. I was in the Hotel Moab Downtown directly across from Woodys. I stopped off here each evening for a few beers after a day of sightseeing. It was extremely quiet when I was there 5 PM. Bartenders were attentive and friendly and made sure my glass was always full. Lovely big long bar. There are pool tables and food available none of which I took part in but it all looked yummy. I loved it for a few pints. Lots of TV's on covering a number of sports. No complaints. A lovely wee watering hole in the middle of things in Moab. read more

Trust me, just don't go here. It is dark and dirty the bartenders ignore customers and the beer is not cold. They say guaranteed cold but trust me this place is warm and dirty and the owner was very rude. They even charge five dollars to get in the door on weekends. Worst bar in Utah read more

I'm giving Woody's a 2 star for the mercy of this business. I talked to locals and apparently Woody's was bought recently by some new people. The locals said this place has gone down hill since then, but I had faith based on the outside appearance. The scariest thing is that the quesadilla took 30 minutes longer than our burgers. Fries didn't come with the burger and we had to wait on those as well, like over 30 minutes. This is a Saturday night, supposed the be the busiest night of the week. The cook though is a great person and nice the issue is that she is the only one who works. There are 4 other people behind the bar who obviously don't do anything based on their weight. Whoever has the black hair and is massive needs to be fired, literally I can't believe someone can hate their life so much. If you are the bartender I am talking about please for the sake of humanity be a better person. Overall this place was a let down. I wish I owned it because there is sooooo much potential. read more

Woodys is a Moab institution. The bar itself (as in the long wooden bar) is a work of art and cultural treasure. Every climber, biker, fugitive, and vagabond who has passed through Moab has carved his initials into that bar. They actually have a sign that says "Do NOT Carve into the bar!!" but it doesn't seem to be working. Moab is an oasis in LDS Hell and they have a great selection of beers at reasonable prices. I like dives so I felt right at home. Those of more refined sensibilities might not appreciate its charm. read more

We all had so much fun at Woodys Bar listening to the best band ever and I don't just say that about any band, I have heard a lot of them. Came here for drinks and to enjoy the music/band. The band was good but the drinks were so weak it was disappointing. Don't waste your money on mixed drinks... order bottled or straight up. At least you'll know your getting what your paying for. Pregame before coming here is another option. Bartenders are attentive but they are short pouring imho. read more

Only gave one star because I had to. One of the only places open in this town past 10. I called ahead to make sure their kitchen was open and was told the kitchen closed around 11:30. That was the only information i received. Once I got there the man at the front told me I could not come in without an id. He asked if I wanted to speak to the bar tender and I said yes because I figured she was the employee I spoke to over the phone. She came up to my bf (21) and I (20) and was immediately rude for no reason. I proceeded to ask her if we could just order to go and she kind of interrupted me basically saying that I could not be in there but he (my bf) could order while I wait outside. I'm not leaving a review because of the policy itself. I understand that it's a bar. I'm leaving this review because of how the bartender treated me. It was extremely off-putting and borderline aggressive. I know I am young but I have been in the restaurant industry for almost over five years. Never once in my life have I felt inclined to leave a bad review but the treatment I received was so odd I truly felt as though I had to say something. The man who was checking id's wasn't rude and again, I did not have an issue with the policy itself. I do however hope that if someone were to call looking for food, the employee on the other end would mention the age restriction. And to the bartender- Please consider being nicer to people. I was there during EJS and the bartender, Finely was absolutely awful. She made our experience very uncomfortable and openly complained about hating being "so busy". Stopped for drinks and wound up eating an early supper. They have two salads on the menu and they were both top notch! The only ding was the bottled beer wasn't very cold but a cold glass helped that. I've learned to appreciate a good salad done well. That's what you get here. I really enjoyed this place and thought it had a really chill, laid back vibe. From what I understand though, there are two sides of Woody's Tavern. One of the guys i was camping with in Moab insisted we come here because he remembered this place as being a wild, crazy "hippie bar" with everyone dancing barefoot. He was really excited for that kind of vibe again, but since we went on a Sunday night it was just a standard small-town biker haven with two guys arguing loud about Trump. Everyone we met here was pretty friendly. Apparently the night before though, a Saturday, people told us it had been really popping. It's a dive bar, people. A dive bar in a state that has liquor laws so convoluted that they rival stereo instructions written in hieroglyphics, backwards. Spotty bartending (you have to flag them down and beg for a drink at times), disgusting bathrooms, and the worlds worst nachos. But its a dive bar, and its older than most of the patrons so they must be doing something right. Pool tables and live music on the weekends. Woody's was a trip and a half! I saddled up to the bar, got a beer, and watched the fun unfold. It had all the ear marks of people working very hard and needing to unwind. There was a geeky fella trying to dance but coming closer a wonderful pinball impersonation. At one point he tripped and fell into the band's electrical gear. I expected the bartender to get rough with him, but she shook her head, picked him up, and spun him off in another direction. There was a young girl doing everything she could to get this guy's attention, only to act disgusted every time she got it. I had heard Woody's wasn't friendly, but that was hogwash! Decent selection and everything is cheap. Visited this tavern twice this past weekend. I like dive bars so really enjoyed this place. The bar top is neat, I like that they have pool tables, but mostly I liked the price. For a beer and a mixed drink the total was $7.50 the first time and $8.50 the second time. Inconsistent but no complaints. The other patrons here seemed nice enough but definitely I their own world/groups. I'd visit again for sure. read more

I go to Moab often and I am a Utah native. I came into Woodys tonight and the woman checking IDs was extremely short with us and rude. We went to the bar and ordered two margaritas from the bar tender who seemed annoyed as well. The margaritas were literally salt water more than anything. There were HUGE chunks of salt in both of our drinks. We've had a ton of margaritas and we love dive bars more than anything (I've also NEVER sent a drink back), these were SO BAD. When I finally told them the lady told me "maybe don't get salt next time!" With a very condescending tone. Not coming back. I played at this bar many years ago (1999-2000) with a band called Freshly Baked. We would do 3 nights in a row and sleep in the quarters that they provided. Unfortunately, due to an accidental stunt that the bandleader did, we were never invited back :-) But let's not digress... I enjoyed this bar a lot. It's just a classic dive bar and nothing more. The locals definitely wanted their rock'n'roll and country music. No Reggae (Marley) or pop or jamming or any nonsense like that. Just give 'em rock'n'roll and don't talk to them and everything's good. After the third night I was definitely looking forward to moving on. But the bar and the bartenders themselves ? Pleasant enough. I'd go back in for a beer if I was in town but certainly would never play there again. Pretty sure it's mutual ;-) read more

simply said (as most have)... it's a local dive bar. We didn't want to wait an hour to sit down at the other well reviewed restaurants in Moab so we grabbed a burger here. Food came quickly - waffle fries were really good, burger was ok (nice toasted bun). Bar staff seemed overworked and the place wasn't even half full... Two seat bar stools, locals, tourists that look out of place, carvings/bumper stickers everywhere, and a bathroom that could use a clean... but hey, set your expectations - this place doesn't advertise to be anything but what it is. read more
