I'm so happy to have taken a balloon ride today. I've been living in ABQ for 12 weeks for a travel assignment. The sight of a hot air balloon in the sky always put an instant smile on my face. I had to do it! My first ride was scheduled last week but was cancelled due to the wind. Leslie was very happy to reschedule my flight for today. Murray was my pilot. He was fantastic! He had a lot of information to share about the city and the history of hot air balloons. The take off and landing was smooth, not at all scary. The crew was very professional yet still fun. We were planning a visit to ABQ and I knew we had to go on a hot air balloon ride. I checked out a few businesses and chose this one, where I was able to book online easily. NOTE: I didn't realize there was a $10 off discount per person if you call to reserve and mention Yelp, so be sure to do that if you purchase tickets from this company. They sent me an email with all the pertinent information, including what time to meet, where (exact address) and how to dress and prepare for the ride. I called the day before to check in and make sure everything was ready. We were the last to arrive but Murray, our pilot, greeted us warmly and had us sign the waivers. They had two balloons set up to and ready to be inflated. Two people held the balloon one on each side while the fire and gas worked together to inflate the balloon. Our basket held 9 passengers, with the pilot in the front, so 10 total. It wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be and I was at the end which I liked. Murray was an excellent pilot as he kept us entertained and informed during the entire flight. We got to about 8000 feet elevation and got to see the Rio Grande river (splash and dash!), the mountains in the distance, houses and the city in general. I thought it would be scary being up so high, but it was so smooth and you really enjoy the views. Our flight total was about an hour and a half and we ended up landing in a neighborhood, which caused a few problems with the chase crew getting past the gate and to where we were. We got to help fold the balloon away, which was fun and gave us a sense of community building with our fellow passengers. The van shuttled us back to our starting point and we enjoyed OJ and desserts as Murray gave us a brief history of hot air balloons. We also got certificates and a pin, nice touch. This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I am glad we did it! I'd recommend World Balloon, they are a great company. read more

Yes, finally my day in a hot air ballon has come. I've waited oh so patiently for a lifetime and now, it has all come together on a cold bright early morning. Of course I somehow ended up in the wrong address and I was running late. Panicked, I called the number they gave me and everything worked out eventually. Go to the Village Inn Restaurant! It's across the street from there that they set up the balloon. For those who wants a quick run down of how it works: Get there in the morning and watch them set up the balloon in the empty lot, this takes about 40 minutes. Then get into the balloon. When I went, it was about 12 people and definitely a tight fit. Hope no one is fat or smells bad. They fly it around over the city for about an hour. It didn't go that high but the experience is really cool and I totally enjoyed it. An hour is actually plenty of time, especially since my toes were getting numb towards the end and you are packed in tight with a bunch of people. They land somewhere and then it takes another 40 minutes or so to land and help them pack the balloon back into the van. Finally, back at the Village Inn parking lot, they break out a little table with mimosas and muffins etc. They also handed out flight certificates and little flight pins. Really cool experience and friendly service. Am really glad I rode with them. read more

I could not be happier with this experience! World Balloon really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a GREAT experience and get your monies worth! It's an early rise, but right off the bat they get you involved and have a great positive attitude. After we took all our pictures and videos of them setting up I grabbed some ropes and helped fill up the balloon with cool air first, and then our pilot, Murray (awesome name), grabbed the flame blower and got us up in the air pretty quickly. The balloons fit a good amount of people but I was very happy with the amount of room you have in the balloon. I was also very impressed with how steady and secure you feel while up in the air. Even if you are afraid of heights you can still probably do this because you feel very secure in the balloon. Murray was very professional and informative, and had a funny side to him too which was very appreciated. We all felt incredibly safe with him and we all just got to relax and enjoy the amazing views! And yes, it really is an amazing sight being up there so high as the sun is rising and other balloons are in the sky as well. It's just something that everyone should experience, and you get to take all the pictures and video you want! We eventually landed and helped put the balloon away which is pretty fun too! They take you back to your take-off spot and have some breakfast items and mimosas for everyone! Murray told us the story of the first hot air balloon in Paris and the traditions that ballooning has. Such a fun experience! It was our first time riding in a hot air balloon, but our pilot, Murray, made us feel comfortable and was very knowledgable during the flight. We went with World Balloon because they had great reviews on Yelp and were much cheaper than Rainbow Ryders--just $159 per person. We took off from the Westside and floated over the bosque and even did a "splash and dash" on the Rio Grande. The flight lasted over an hour and then the pilots had a ceremony for us with champagne and snacks. I would recommend wearing layers and thick socks since it starts off pretty cold and warms up as and morning goes on. The burners also keep you nice and toasty. Going on a hot air balloon ride is a must in Albuquerque! Would definitely recommend World Balloon to first-time flyers. read more

This is a MUST if you're visiting Albuquerque! You cannot leave Albuquerque without experiencing a hot air ballon ride. I had such a great time. I still can't believe I did it. The crew and pilot were amazing and very friendly. The amount of money spent was definitely well worth it. They sometimes offer groupon sales, so make sure to look out for it. Just... make sure to read the fine print because I believe it's only valuable for Sunday - Thursday. I had the chance to take this amazing ride on February 1st. Which... so happens to be my birthday. I felt like such a lucky lady. If you're worried about the weather or questioning when's the best time.... Worry no more. The rides are all year round and unless the weather is really bad they will cancel your flight without charge. You may reschedule if your schedule permits. As far as weather.... Spring time is beautiful because everything is alive as opposed to the winter time, but I went during the winter season and it was still so beautiful! Pictures to prove below. Just make sure to bundle up. Note, The entire process takes about 3hrs which includes 1 hour of flight. At the end they offer wine and desserts. They also give you a very short history of hot air balloons, which is very cool! It's like being a part of history and getting a chance to cheat death. Again.... Truly one of the BEST things I could have EVER done in New Mexico! Riding in a hot air balloon has also been on my to-do list and New Mexico was a perfect place to do it! My girlfriend and I decided to visit New Mexico as tickets were really cheap, and Hot Air Balloons were one of the things we just couldn't pass up. So, we looked around and after reading raving reviews about World Balloon, we decided to book a date for 1/14/17. Making an appointment was really easy. Leslie was the lovely lady I spoke with and she provided amazing customer service! On top of that, they don't charge you until AFTER you have completed your ride. After booking a date, I received a confirmation email with all the instructions. 7 AM was the arrival time. Finding the location was really easy and there were even bathrooms to use before the ride. Everyone was SO amazing and welcoming when we arrived. Big thanks to Murray, his lovely wife, Julie and my wonderful pilot, James! They let me help with setting up the air balloon (such a great experience!). All the staff here are SO phuckin' awesome. I can truly tell that they love making their customers happy, and they love what they do! That means a lot right there! Before we departed our pilots, Murray and James, discussed what we would do and even when we were on our ride, we had a tour of all the different landmarks we were going over and looking at. During our landing, it was nice to see how well Murray and James worked together with the other staff so we can have a safe landing. I admit I was scared during the landing time. It's a tough landing (I wasn't ready for that), but it all worked out. The rest if the team that stayed back actually met up with us after we landed to help us pack up everything. We then drove back to the starting destination to have a champagne toast, breakfast, and hear the story of hot air balloons by Murray. The team had such a wonderful breakfast set up for us with champagne and yummy pastries (thank you!) We also received flight certificates and a pin for our accomplishment of riding in the hot air balloon; so cute!! This was such a great first experience for me! My pilots: James and Murray truly ROCK! They have been riding hot air balloons for over 20 years and they still love it! This is the most amazing experience ever. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He helped make the trip memorable. The peaceful feeling of floating through the air is indescribable. We saw the sun rise over the mountains, floated over the forest, and saw ancient volcanos. The price was less than other companies in the area as well. World Balloon was the final stop on our honeymoon and my wife and I could not have been happier we chose that as our last activity before heading back to reality. Murray was our pilot and he was AMAZING! The ride was everything I was hoping for as far as beauty but I was not expecting to enjoy the commentary and conversations with our pilot. Murray is very funny, very witty and has great stories to keep you entertained for the duration of your flight. Not that you need it with all the beauty around you on top of the experience itself of being over 9000 feet in the air in a hot air balloon but it was a very nice bonus that ended up being the best part of the flight believe it or not. I would not hesitate to go back and fly with them again sometime in the future. If safety is a concern for you, all of the professionals wore masks the entire time and the other guests did so as well. The basket is also partitioned with plastic to keep the different groups separated for the most part. At no time did I feel unsafe either from Covid or just the flying in general. Stay away from all the "B Teams" in Albuquerque. Do yourself a favor and book with these guys. You won't regret it! read more

This was a truly fantastic experience. I did a lot of research before booking this flight, and I definitely made the right choice with World Balloon. From the beginning, World Balloon made a great impression. They offered better prices than their competitors and their website has more of an emphasis on safety and information about ballooning than just selling the rides. When I called to talk about reservations, I spoke with Linda who was wonderfully informative, polite and funny. The balloon ride itself was definitely a bucketlist experience!!! World Balloon blew up the balloon while we watched, and even allowed us to participate in the set-up. The crew was funny and friendly and we were happily surprised to find that there was only a small number of people in the flight. Some of the balloon places I looked into would put so many people in the same basket! No thank you! Our pilot, Dean, was an excellent tour guide! He set us up for great photo op's and really knows the lay of the land in Albuquerque. The balloon ride was a FULL hour long, as opposed to the 35-45 minutes that the other companies offered. When we landed, we were allowed to participate in packing up the balloon, which was a fun experience in and of itself (who knew!) and then they brought us muffins and champagne! They did NOT try to sell us our champagne glasses, but instead, gave them to us as souvenirs! All in all, this was a real once-in-a-lifetime adventure and I would recommend that everyone try it at least once! read more

I had an amazing experience for my 25th birthday with World Balloon! They make the process easy- you meet at a field, get in the hot air balloon with up to 11 more people, fly for an hour, land in a field and drive back to your original spot.
