I was picking up an online order and decided to return part of it as I wasn't satisfied with the quality. The employee (Edina/I believe that was her name/asian) was passive aggressive and borderline rude about my decision to return it after she went to get it for me. This was completely unnecessary and frankly a manager needs to speak to her or at least observe her. Another female associate witnessed it and I saw her cringing. Please train this employee to be more respectful to customers and not complain about what is supposed to be part of her job. Cost plus is such a great place to shop and I've never encountered this before at this location. read more

Great customer service. It's fun to browse here and I buy gifts, jewelry and ceramics. I wish more of the mugs were microwave and dishwasher safe but they always have a beautiful range of styles that you want to collect. Look for the corner clearance section in their teapot section. Everything from furniture to imported food to housewares and funny greeting cards. Many of their items are expensive, just wait for a sale or coupon. Members get extra savings and they have a big parking lot. They always have a great selection of Christmas ornaments and stocking stuffers. Their Lunar New Year section was small this year. And now they have the tea and coffee of the day by the entrance. read more

Terrible experience at this location with the middle aged asian "manager" Jeri during their Golden Nutcracker event today. I found one of their nutcracker cards that matched their clue today around something red, and when I tried to redeem it, Jeri said it was dated yesterday and wouldn't honor it. She implied we could have hidden it yesterday to redeem today, which doesn't make sense and I feel like it's their responsibility to make sure the unclaimed ones were removed at the end of the day, and if not, honor our finding. Jeri was unpleasant, unhelpful, and offered a short half-hearted "sorry" as we left upset. I also just read through other reviews to see if I was the only one who felt that she was rude and it seems there are others who feel the same. read more

Officially the worst World Market I've been to. They're currently hosting their golden nutcracker event where if you find the golden nutcracker you win a gift card. I found one and upon trying to redeem it, the lady, Jeri, said it was invalid because it was an old one. Why wouldn't they clean up the old ones? From my experience, all nutcrackers are usually found within an hour. The fact that this one happened to be left out there for an entire day and no one found it seems suspicious. I've done this for the last year and participated in these events dozens of times. Mistakes happen but I think what upset me the most was how this was handled. If you're going to host an event, play by your own rules. If you find a nutcracker, you should win. Waste of time and I feel like I got scammed. read more

What casually turned out to be a routine snack haul becomes an all out treasure hunt for a golden elf! Let's just say we spent two hours looking for this elf, and as frustrating as it became, we ended up victorious, outlasting a trove of house wife teams and even some younger kids, whose Nanny definitely put them to work! Besides the treasure hunt, this location is always nicely stocked, well organized with lots of helpful staff on hand. The impromptu treasure hunt was a nice touch too! Although once we found the elf it was on $20.00 which we had to spend right there and then. Would have been nice to be able to use it more as a gift card. read more

We used to come to Cost Plus World Market all the time and for some reason we just sort of forgot about it. It is a great store and I am happy we have sort of rediscovered it. Parking is free and there is plenty. The service is very nice. They can help you find stuff, and boy do they have a lot of stuff. From candy to chairs they have it. It is sort of like a Pier One with the horrid attitude and crazy prices. This place has things from all over the world. It is a great place to get a gift for someone. They have a great selection of candles and other gift items. During any holiday they have things to help you celebrate. We were very happy there and will be back. read more

A lot of nice products but horrible horrible service at this location. Anything that requires an employee will take a ridiculous amount of time. I came in to look at a chair. It took 15 minutes to even find an employee who could help. There are plenty of employees around but no one willing to help; a number of curt glares and refusals when I ask for assistance. Then, once finally find someone I can ask about the chair, that employee disappeared and I was left waiting for 20 MORE MINUTES. Truly horrendous service--more than half an hour wasted standing around. As a result, I cannot recommend this store. read more

I love this chain and was looking forward to shop in one of their stores again. I never checked out this location before. We were in the area and decided to stop by, do some shopping. The parking lot is behind, decent size, there's an entrance in the back. We were trying to get inside the store but it wasn't easy. A store employee was messing with shopping carts and was in the way, we were waiting for her to finish, but she kept getting closer and closer to us, didn't seem to get the social distancing idea. Even after we got inside, she kept messing with carts and banging and slamming. Not ideal shopping situation. The store isn't as big, not very clean, has a strange structure, it's harder to find departments in here, sections. I even ran into a homeless lady into one of the aisles, so not very well kept. I found some nice baking mixes which I wanted on sale, so that's nice. A few fun drinks and some jewelry since I didn't shop in months! The check out line wasn't long, just took a while to get to the register. The girl helping us was nice and pleasant and wiped the area before we got to it. I won't come shopping in here again though, not very clean or inviting in terms of browsing which is essential in this type of store for me! read more

Avoid this location at all costs. I witnessed an absolutely disgusting situation: a woman brought her cat in and took it out of its carrier in the food aisles, allowing people--customers and employees--to pet it for at least 30+ minutes. Cat dander and fur were flying everywhere, contaminating the food. It was obvious she was there for attention, and the store staff enabled this unhygienic behavior instead of addressing it. I have severe allergies and had to leave the area, but even moving to another aisle wasn't enough. Within minutes, I was struggling to breathe and had to leave the store entirely to rush home to get my inhaler and take meds to stop my throat from closing up. I felt awful for several days. When I called to complain, I received no response. This is not only a blatant health violation but also an appalling disregard for customer safety. Now everyone who buys food and drinks there will be treated to food and drink that has been adulterated with cat fur and dander on whatever they buy. Allowing animals near food is filthy and unsanitary, and the fact that this store condones it is absolutely vile. Seeing the cat set down ON TOP OF food displays was the last straw and I will never go to this store again. Stay away if you value your health--this store clearly doesn't care. read more

This is still one of my favorite stores but customer service has gradually declined. In recent years I've dealt with a disgruntled employee shoving a price tag in my face and having to be corrected by a manager who witnessed her bizarre behavior to multiple occasions of incompetence at the checkout registers. The issues are mainly the employees working the registers. They tend to be rude and have difficulty problem solving. On a recent visit I was returning a damaged mug and when I asked the manager "assisting" me if there were anymore in stock she snapped at me. She actually caught and corrected her own rudeness. Even the male employee who usually helps me was not very helpful this time. I was close to throwing the damaged mug in the trash and walking out until the manager who snapped at me found one in the back. Go figure. I get that maybe they are overwhelmed at times, but providing quality customer service is still a part of the job description. It's too much fun shopping here to have the employees become the reason it becomes a downer. read more

This was my place to go for buying gifts - it's cost effective, reliable, and I'm guaranteed to also find something additional for myself. Unfortunately today that's all changed because they've stopped selling gift bags. Now, instead of being my friendly neighborhood one stop shop for gifts, they direct you to someplace like Party City for the second half of your purchase. I don't know about you, but I don't usually have time for a secondary stop. Time to spend my money elsewhere. I placed an online order for 8 boxes of chocolates for xmas gifts. Jeri is a super star!!! While she was getting my order, she noticed that corners of 2 boxes were smooshed. Terrible customer service. Unprofessional, rude staff that are reluctant to help. I order stuff online and just go pickup but few times i needed to return or get help on items i was given lots of attitude from lazy staff and management that act as if they are doing me favor rather than their job. Mostly i find they don't know how to do their job and get annoyed when asking for help. I love the store products and have been a loyal customer but the impolite staff need to be replaced with sharp professional staff. read more

bought a candle that i thought was on clearance here but it wasn't! there was a large red section above the shelf that said clearance, but apparently only the items on the actual clearance shelf are on sale. the candle i got was on the clearance shelf and must have been put there by mistake. the store associate said that many people make the same mistake. she offered to help me return it but i just decided to keep it. however, if something is confusing enough that it's a common issue, it should be fixed! otherwise it's a pretty predatory business tactic that's clearly trying to to get people to spend extra money. this world market is always clean and well-organized, and the workers are really nice! just unfortunate that their clearance is confusing so many people. it is probably a management issue lol but at least my candle smells good read more
