I sometimes felt the extensions done elsewhere were sometimes inconsistent in application and would look a bit heavy on me. Additionally, I was driving to Old Town when I live in the city and would often battle additional traffic as well as parking issues. So when I saw the fabulous reviews for Dupont Lash I decided to give them a shot. First, I was so pleased with how easy it was to book and that I was able to find availability the same week. That was challenging at the last place I went because there was only 1-2 lash techs. When I met Sara, she was so helpful in asking me what look I was going for. I showed her my past applications that were my absolute favorite as well and sharing with her the overall look I was going for. She understood the assignment immediately and nailed in on the first time. When I came back the second time I just wanted as very slight modification, and once again she executed it perfectly. (And she is so lovely!) Additionally, my lashes seem to stay on some much longer. Although I typically do a two week fill, my two week mark usually still looks so fresh and so good! Story time! My lashes initially done in Jacksonville, FL and then at another salon in DC since…read moremoving here in January. While I've had lash extensions since November, not once did any of the techs at the other salons tell me the extension length I wanted was WAY too long for my natural lashes to support. I was having to spend tons of money each week to get a fill because my natural lashes just couldn't support the weight. Still being a newbie to extensions, I knew something didn't seem quite right with my current extensions but I just didn't know for sure. I decided to switch salons and booked a "fill from another salon" and was told to text photos of my current lashes to the Art of Lash. Within 10 minutes, Malin called me to discuss my current lashes and the possibility that they won't be able to fill on them. She suggested we re-book as a removal and full set (which is precisely what we did). When I arrived to Art of Lash for my consultation and (possible) fill, Christina sat down with me and completed a consultation before looking to the damage that had been done by other places. This is the first time I've had anyone really take me through the steps and ask me what I was looking for. She provided pictures of different shapes and before/afters of people to show the results. When I finally laid down and Christina saw my lashes, she was pretty upset. She said there was 1) WAY too much glue 2) way too much length (only 30% of your lash length max, mine were more than 50%), and then 3) multiple extensions glued together- meaning there was twice the amount of weight per lash. NO WONDER WHY I HAD SUCH A HIGH TURNOVER RATE!!! My lashes simply couldn't support the extension that were incorrectly and unskillfully applied by other salons. Of course this meant Christina had to remove my old extensions and then apply a full new set. Yes, it was a lengthy process (especially if you're not someone who can fall asleep aka me), but it was SO SO worth it. My lashes look amazing now and are much healthier with a normal turnover rate. When the appointment concluded, Christina was super helpful in giving me aftercare instructions, recommending a cleanser, and recommending I use a lash serum (since I like length & the extensions from before damaged my natural lashes). At the other two salons before this one, I was NEVER told how to clean and care for my lash extensions so this was so incredibly refreshing. Yesterday, I had my first 2 week fill. This was the first time since November I have been able to retain lashes this long and not look like a crazy person. Christina informed me my lashes were growing back in pretty well & my retention rate was awesome. Amazing what can happen when the proper length is used and care instructions are given! Art of Lash has changed my world! Moral of the story: if you're looking at reviews on here to make an informed decision, you've found your lash place. Don't risk your lash health just for cheaper prices elsewhere because this salon is 110% worth the cost. Christina is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and an overall kind person. The salon is gorgeous and has wonderful aftercare products for sale as well! You won't regret getting your lashes done here!

They were thin, whispy, pre-made fans that were poorly glued onto only some of my lashes. They started falling off almost immediately, and there were visible white clumps of glue that a friend pointed out because she thought I had crumbs on my eyes. One week later when I went to another eyelash studio, they couldn't even tell I had any extensions on until they put me under the lights. I would've been better off just curling my own lashes & using mascara because mine are thicker & longer than whatever they used. I've never had such poor quality.

I also understand why my appointment needed to be rescheduled. My issue is not with the policy, it's with how I was treated. I was made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment I walked into the salon. I had a 12:45 p.m. appointment and called before leaving home to let the salon know I was running about 10 minutes late, which is their stated grace period. The receptionist told me she would let Sera know. At 12:56 p.m., when I was literally one minute away from the salon, I received a call saying Sera could no longer see me because I was late, and she had back-to-back clients. While I was disappointed, I understood. I asked if I could still come in briefly to speak with Sera because I wasn't even sure I needed a full highlight service, and the receptionist agreed. When I arrived, Sera immediately told me I needed to reschedule and seemed unwilling to discuss my hair beyond commenting that the back was "really dark" and explaining that she had returning clients scheduled after me. She didn't seem to know or care that I was a returning client. Sera had done my hair in February, and I came back because I had really liked her work. Not recognizing me in and of itself is not a big problem--I know a lot of people sit in her chair--but it made the interaction feel impersonal and left me wondering if she'd even prepared for my appointment. I was fully prepared to work with Sera and the receptionist to find another date and time that fit both of our schedules. Instead, both were unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. This experience was especially difficult because I have pretty severe alopecia areata that, thankfully, is now well controlled with medication, allowing me to grow most of my hair back. That said, I wore a wig for five years after losing most of my hair, so finding a stylist I trust is still an incredibly vulnerable and anxiety-producing experience. Every time I see someone new, I have to explain my hair loss and why I prefer a lived-in color that doesn't require overly frequent trips to the salon. I chose to return to Sera because I thought I had found someone I could continue seeing. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and genuinely upset. I walked out of the salon, called my husband, and cried like a reprimanded little girl. I am a 35-year-old grown-ass woman. Policies are important, and I respect them. Kindness and professionalism are just as important. Had the situation been handled with empathy and respect, I would have happily rescheduled. Instead, I left feeling less like a person and more like a time slot or a dollar sign. It seems like Sera may have enough clients that turning one away isn't a big deal, but I was respectful, cooperative, and ready to work with her to find another appointment.
