    Chili Dog

Psst - is this a safe space? Cause I don't like Chicago dogs. Trying to order a regular (normal?) chili dog with mayo on a delivery app is the impossible challenge in the Windy City. After the Billy Corgan show I had my mouth and mind set on a breaded steak sub from you know where but I was too far outside the delivery area to make it happen. I went for hot dogs instead. But there were so many gimmicks and odd toppings that it took me 2 hours to decide on a place. Chili and mayo was impossible through UberEats but Wrigleyville was offering tzatziki (?!?). White sauce - potato potahto. Solid choice! These jawns were FIRE!! Chili cheese fries were crisp (opt for the chili and cheese on the side), hot dogs were delish, and the cheese sauce was the best cheese sauce I've ever had. The chili was so so good and the tzatziki was legit an unexpected hit condiment - the coolness and tang cut through the density of the chili. When it was all said and done I wish I had ordered 3. Fantastic!

Decent Chicago dog. Standard, run of the mill menu for a typical dog joint in Chicago. Hot dogs (Chicago style of course), chill and or cheese dogs, burgers, gyros, fries, onion rings and all the typical sides. Nice little patio faces Clark with a few umbrella shaded tables to enjoy your eats "for here!" Clean inside tables are inviting enough to chow down when it's too hot or raining. The bathroom is clean and gender neutral (that doesn't matter, it really just means there's only one John.) It's not going to be the best Chicago dog you e ever had but it's a pretty decent average hotdog "dragged thru the garden!"

This location gotta be one of the best dogs I had during this trip to Chicago. The staff always so friendly to us Gabe my daughter free ice cream unlimited refills extra cheese for no charge they really treat us good every single time we have been there over the years. It's always very clean the bathroom is super clean and well stocked. The food taste amazing and fresh the gyro is insanely delicious. If you haven't been to this location I recommend it. Next trip to Chicago I'll be back for sure!

We were attending a show at the Metro and decided to keep it easy peasy, Wrigleysville Dogs located directly across from the venue could not be any more convenient. The staff were super helpful and friendly, with options to dine in or out, and pretty dern affordable given the location. I opted for the chicago dog, my wife the chili dog chicago style, and my daughter a soft serve cone. Thanks for being a neighborhood gem and don't forget they have a drive through too!

We stumbled upon Wrigleysville Dogs on our way to a Wrigley Field tour--it's just minutes away--and I'm so glad we did! This family-owned gem has a cozy, atmosphere with a few seats inside and outside, plus a convenient drive-thru and online ordering at www.wrigleyvilledogs.com. This was our first-ever Chicago-style hot dog, and it did not disappoint. We went with the #1 Hot Dog Combo Meal and added an extra dog for just $4.99. Each one came loaded with all the iconic toppings: yellow mustard, neon green relish, fresh tomato, diced onions, crisp pickle spears, spicy sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt--all nestled in the softest poppy seed bun. The hot dog itself had that perfect snap and bold flavor you'd hope for. The service was quick and friendly, and while the ambiance is your classic fast-food joint, the food delivers big flavor in a casual, welcoming setting. If you're in the area and want something quick, affordable, and seriously delicious, don't pass this place by. Sometimes the best finds are the ones you never planned for--and Wrigleysville Dogs is definitely a keeper.

We stopped here on our way to a cubs game. It was busy, but there was still room inside to stand in line. The line was about 4 deep, not bad for just before a game. We ordered a Chicago style dog. It was much smaller than expected. I'm not a mustard fan, but I liked it. I enjoyed all the flavors. The peppers gave it a little kick. We also ordered a gyro with everything: tomatoes and onions and a white sauce. It was huge. I had to eat some meat out of it before picking it up. The Chicago dog and gyro were delicious. I highly recommend this place before a game. The line is almost nonexistent and they have a bathroom. Indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside.

Remember when Jennifer Coolidge wanted a hot dog real bad in "Legally Blonde"? I was slightly pickier and was feeling the same way about a Chicago dog. Fortunately Jamie W. booked our hotel right across the street from Wrigley Field, so prospects looked good for us to find an authentic Chicago dog. Sure enough, we walked only one block up Clark and found this spot. I initially pooh-poohed the idea that we could get a high quality Chicago dog here, but they showcased a surgical diagram of what goes into their Chicago Dogs, and I have to admit I was impressed. So impressed, in fact, that I ordered the $11.50 Chicago Dog Combo Meal with fries, of course, and a 20-ounce Diet Coke...like that was really gonna help. I have no idea whether the Chicago dog was authentic, but it sure was tasty. The split Kosher pickle, the sport peppers, the diced onions, the florescent green relish, the celery salt...they were all present and accounted for. For lack of immediate comparison, I have assessed the Wrigleyville Chicago Dog as ultimately satisfying. So much so we came back after an Andersonville gay bar jaunt and had another dog. It worked really well after a couple of cocktails elsewhere. FOOD - 4 stars...oh yeah, this IS a real Chicago dog AMBIANCE - 3 stars...just a fast food joint SERVICE - 3 stars...not much chit-chat with the staff hidden behind the signs TOTAL - 4 stars...when you need a Chicago dog real bad RELATED - Exploring Chicago? It's a bit pricey for a dog, but they are tasty. The mushrooms onions and cheese fried are very small portions. Server was slow. Nice diner atmosphere.

Can I start this review by giving it 6 stars? In Chicago for 5 days, this (2nd day) was my most enjoyable meal. Hands down. Walked in, ordered from the tv screens above and waited a short time before being served. Italian combo (Italian beef and Italian sausage) and a Chicago dog. Absolutely amazing. Left us speechless. The Italian sausage is 100% perfect. SO tasty, and the beef on the sandwich was also amazing. This was the first place we requested "light peppers" (both hot and sweet) and it was topped perfectly. Not too much and not too little. Everything about the Italian combo was life changing. And then to the Chicago dog...the best hot dog I ate in the city. In my recent review of portillos...you can see how much heavier topped that hot dog was and it was less enjoyed than this one. The toppings are all so fresh and tasty and the hot dog itself is so good! This hot dog was life changing, and I'm confident I'll never have a hot dog as good as this one. I want to say the bill was like $24 or something. Order at the counter and pick up your food and toss it and pick the tray up when you're done kind of place. I'm not sure how this place only has 3 stars because Wrigleysville Dogs absolutely blew us away.

I've been here twice now. Both times have been a good experience. Service is pretty quick and the food is good. Seating is available for about 26 people. There are 7 sit down tables and one standing table. The woman who took my order was very nice both times and made sure my order was correct for all members of my party and happily answered any questions. My first visit, it was around thanksgiving and the place was crowded but we were still able to sit and get our food at a decent time. My visit today was pretty sparse and food came out quickly. The place is clean overall. The restroom is clean, but you have to be buzzed in since it's customers only. Overall enjoyed my visits here. Not necessarily a place I'd go out of my way to get food from but being in the area it's not a bad choice. The price point is slightly expensive, BUT it's Wrigleyville so the prices make sense.

What a way to get a taste of Chicago. This was my first Chicago dog and maybe the locals will say there are better spots out there but for someone who has never experienced it this was a great first run. The dog, pickle, pepper and bun all complimented each other. This is a hole in the wall spot right next to wrigley field. Great spot to great soemthing cheap before a game.

Came in after a bar for an ice cream cone and fries. The lady snuck a 18% gratuity on it and still asked for a tip, what a joke.

Absolutely insane experience. Make sure you get a reservation because this place gets booked up…read morequickly and rightfully so. My wife and I ordered the bone marrow to start and shared a single cheeseburger with the bacon and egg add on. The bone marrow with the marmalade on the side was amazing. I loved the thick toast they gave on the side. It was the perfect balance for such a rich dish. The burger is probably one of the best burgers I've had in my life. The bun was nice and fluffy, the burger was juicy, the bacon was thick and flavorful, and the egg was cooked to perfection. For a couple of bites, we threw a little bone marrow and the marmalade on the burger and it took it to a whole new level. The restaurant was small and comfortable. A tad loud with the music, but I didn't mind too much. I would gladly trade that for the delicious meal we had. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great burger. Just make sure you get a reservation early.

No photos 'cuz I'm guessing you know what a hamburger looks like…read more If this were not such a hyped location it was easily be 4 star. I don't feel it comes close to living up to the hype. In no way does it merit standing in line and it sure is not worth the $2.50/pp reservation fee that is not credited to your bill. That's just an obnoxious money grab. The atmosphere is dark, crowded, and a little noisy. In other words, bar-like. Service is good. No real complaints beyond asking for my burger with sauce on the side, being assured they would do that, and then having to scrape off the sauce that came on the burger. Okay, the food. The burgers are fine. Hardly life changing and not even the best in the city but definitely good. Worth the price? I doubt it. My dining partner liked the chopped liver starter (which came well after the burger) and the hash browns with duck heart gravy. I was much less impressed. I was confused by the "chopped" liver. Next to an immense pile of cornichons was a heap of large, again barely seasoned, diced liver pieces coated in a white sauce that the server told me was schmaltz. I make my own schmaltz and it has never been thick, white, and having no chicken flavor at all. Maybe they used a few drops of chicken fat to make a mayo? I don't know, but it certainly is a different take on chopped liver. The hash browns were piping hot and crispy but the potatoes themselves were badly underseasoned. The duck heart gravy was nice but the dish really didn't need the slightly congealed white cream gravy that adding nothing but more fat. If you're thinking about bacon, get it on the burger, not on the side. By itself it's way too sweet and peppery. On the burger, it works. Which brings me to... Food sensitivities. You will be asked about allergies and I'm sure you will be accommodated but you may not be happy with the results. The components of the dishes do not stand well on their own. They're clearly meant to be eaten together. Because so much egg and dairy is used in so many places if you want to avoid either your dish might be very suboptimal. So while it's okay it's a one and done for me. I'll stay with Small Cheval (very close in taste, much better value) or Burger Bar.
