I've only been the arts district location before so it was nice to find Wurstkuche in Venice as well. The layout inside is exactly the same as the arts district location but I enjoyed that the Venice one has a little patio that's part of their building where you can hang. The arts district outdoor seating is just kind of on the street. The prices are fair, and while their exotic links are decent I feel like more flavor in the bun and add ons. However their Belgian fries are legitimately my favorite fries I've ever had in all of LA and that's truly saying alot! read more

Wurstküche is consistently great! The menu is pretty straightforward - sausages in 3 categories: Classics, Gourmet and Exotics. They are served as hot dogs with two toppings of choice (extras for 75 cents each). Belgian fries are available in small or large sizes with 1 or 2 dipping sauces included respectively, with an option to add more for 75 cents each. I especially love the curry ketchup! There are sausage options for every mood. The descriptions of the type of meat and flavor profile of each sausage option on the menu are clearly explained. There are also vegetarian options available. I've enjoyed every kind I've tried here! I'm partial to the kielbasa and Filipino maharlika, but you really can't go wrong. I've tried quite a few of these. The exotics are fun if you're feeling adventurous! The fries are delicious. They're double fried - thick and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Regular ketchup and a variety of mustards are available at the tables. There is also a pretty extensive beverage menu of Belgian, German and Austrian draft and bottled beers and other drinks including cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic options. You order at the counter, they give you a number and you walk in (to the left!) to a large indoor seating area with a bar. They also have an outdoor patio. You seat yourself. The tables are lined with paper, and they have cups of crayons on the tables. They bring your order to the table, and they also take your finished trays. I've been going to this place for years and decided to have my birthday dinner there this past weekend. It was super easy to reserve some tables by calling ahead and the staff was kind enough to accommodate. You order your food up front and then find a place to sit. There's a huge patio, indoor space, stage area with seats, and a partially enclosed room that's semi-private. I usually order the Louisiana hot link (and often crave it) but this time I added the Filipino sausage. It was a good surprise and a little sweet. Also, opted for some fries - ya gotta add truffle to them! Tried a few beer samples at the front and opted for a sour beer which was tasty. This place is always a good vibe. On this particular trip, because we had just splurged and picked up APL BBQ (!!) for dinner down the street, my son and I just ordered a Klein fries with white truffle oil glaze and dipping sauces and the awesome and friendly chap (Spencer) working the order counter threw in a couple extra sauces for free. Decided to try something a little different and went with the duck and bacon with jalapenos, it hit the spot. Not too fatty or heavy on the duck taste, just the right balance with the jalapenos too. My son got an original bratwurst and that is a solid option if you don't want to go off the beaten path. Fries were crispy the and sauces are fun to try. They also have lots of great beer options. Out of the blue my husband said he wanted Swedish potato sausages. Where did that come from? Apparently his mother who was Swedish used to make them when he was young. Ok. The search began. We chose three sausage rolls: bratwurst, bockwurst and one outlier, the vegetarian smoke apple sage sausage. The winner was, drumroll please, the bratwurst. Maybe because it was the most familiar, don't really know, but my husband and I loved it the best. The bockwurst was also good. The vegetarian sausage was interesting, smoky with a definite sweetness. Honestly if I hadn't known it was vegetarian I might have picked it because of its unique combination of flavors. This is one of my friend groups's favorite places to go on a Friday night. Good food and good drinks, what more can you ask for? I love the mango habanero sausage. I'd usually go for topping (particularly sweet and spicy peppers) for some extra zing but have a tendency to have more topping on my plate than in my buns, so it's a bit of a messy eat. Just one sausage is not quite enough for meal so definitely get some fries or a second sausage if you're there for dinner. Loads of great beer options, and if you're alcohol free, the cucumber soda is also excellent. The best part about this restaurant is the space. So this review is solely for their Belgian fries and sadly, the terrible service that came with them. Guy who took my phone order was fine; he was competent and was able to get my order correct. The rating of 2-stars is between the fries being pretty good, but the girl behind the counter took the rating down from what it originally was. Plain and simple, she should not be in a customer-facing job. I honestly start off friendly when going somewhere; I have nothing against anyone here so it's a fresh start but if you are unpleasant and come off as rude towards me, I naturally tend to mirror your reaction. Discovering too late I went to the wrong door, I simply asked if that was the area where I grab takeout. The look she gave me and the tone she used when she said, 'what' about ten seconds later could not have been more off-putting for an easy question to answer. I repeated myself much more slowly so she would hopefully understand, she signed and said she would get it for me, as though it was a hinderance for her to go grab the bag (I wish she would have told me where to go to be honest instead). When I asked if they took cash or card, I had another delay (this one was about five seconds) before I hear, 'Card.' Realizing there was no mustard, I had to torture her with One more question (essentially making her do her job), and she said to tell her which ones I wanted. This is one thing she got correct. I wish I didn't tip cash; I nearly reached my hand back in there to get it when I realized she was actually watching me, without saying thank you. She really didn't deserve this at all. As mentioned above, fries were worthy, the small was a perfect size and although the mustards provided were in smaller containers than my requested sauce, they were all decent (whole grain being demolished). Next time, I'll go through the other entrance specifically to hopefully avoid this blonde thing I had to deal with this first time around who made such a poor impression. I'm not sure if this was a cultural difference, or if she-plain and simple-had something against me even though I've never seen it (her) in my life. However, I won't let her ruin this place for me. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty packed. There was a line out the door (though the entry area to order is pretty tiny, so I think this is kind of expected). I got a Buffalo sausage and a classic bratwurst and a side of fries. I've heard incredible things about the fries and they definitely lived up to expectation! I also got a beer as their menu is pretty extensive and had something I was excited to try. The Buffalo one wasn't super flavorful but the brat was excellent. I ended up sitting outside (the dark hallway getting from where you order to where you eat was a little uh confusing to me haha) and there was so much seating. Despite how tough it may be at times to find in my maps app, I'll always recommend this place to anyone visiting Venice. The reasons are pretty simple.
