A very solid Banh mi place on the west side. I got their Special banh mi (this is not on the menu) and theirs comes with pork floss which is a nice inclusion! The Banh mis here are a bit pricier (~$15-17) than at other places probably due to being on the west side but they are stacked with great Vietnamese cold cuts of meat and their bread is the perfect crunchy on the outside but still fluffy on the inside. They stack it with pickled daikon and carrots that add a vinegary, fresh taste. Cilantro and jalapeños add on a spicy and fresh taste as well. You can ask them to cut the sandwich in half for you to eat better or to split. They have lots of seating inside and outside.
It is a good spot for banh mi sandwiches. I like it way better than Lee's sandwiches. I recommend coming here if you like banh mi sandwiches and want to try different flavors. Here they have different options compared to your normal vietnamese banh mi. It's in a small plaza next to Simpang Venice. The parking spots are a bit small for big cars but would recommend coming before meal time rush hour in case parking fills up. Then you would have to hunt for street parking. I like the decorations of the place and they have a simple menu display up top but a more detailed longer menu at the register. I had their beef banh mi and tried their strawberry banana smoothie which I really liked. The cashier was friendly and patient with all the questions I had. I had a great experience. Definitely recommended to come try their banh mi.
Let me just start out by saying I have not been here in a looong time due to the DTLA location closing down. And I must say I love what y'all have done with the place. From the decorations to the menu, everything was top tier and worth the visit. Parking was easy simply because they had a parking lot . When we came in and saw the new menu, to my surprise it was a total revamp. The cashier was super nice and gave us her recommendations which were amazing. She was such a delight to interact with. We got the burger, the Cuban, and the chimi steak. All were incredibly good. We wanted to get fries but they were out . All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and Lokal has made its way to my top priority list when I need a sandwich!
I've been a huge fan since they were in downtown Los Angeles. But it's been a while since I've had a taste of their deliciousness. And now that I've had it... I remember why I would go there at least once a week. All of their sandwiches are so freaking good. So fresh, thick, saucy, and juicy! I don't know how they do it. But it's just so good. And it comes out so fast, within 5 to 10 minutes? Which is really crazy. Today was my first time ordering the Cubano? Wasn't expecting much, but it definitely blew my mind. It's huge too! I love the pickle option that they use. It's like a sweet-and-sour pickle? So very different. Highly recommend. The restaurant itself is pretty neat. Very hipster-ish, clean and spacious. You order at the counter. And free parking. What more could you ask for? :)

It seems...dairy weird to add milk to watermelon, but please trust that this combination of flavors and textures are beyond delicious. Will be back a thousand and three more times.
My new favorite headquarters for comfort food! OMG--where have you been all my life? I'd heard about this place for a while but always assumed people were just talking about a "local" spot... not a place actually named Lokal. My loss. Lokal is a glorious smorgasbord of fusion flavors--Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican... and somehow it all works. If there were ever a synonym for food porn, Lokal would be in the running. My personal faves: Kpop Fries - OMG. Addictive. Korean BBQ Banh Mi - Flavor bomb. Chimichurri Steak - That sauce... WHAT is that sauce?? The only problem? Deciding which favorite to order each visit. Since I've jumped on the LA intermittent fasting train, I'm limited to one large daily entrée, so every meal here becomes a first-world, existential palate crisis. If you love bold flavors and comfort food with an international twist, Lokal is your spot. If you see a guy with gorgeous blonde hair, large delts and triceps, relatively good-looking, but clearly lost in decision crisis.... that'll be me.
On the way to Venice Beach, my friend and I stopped at Lokal Sandwich + Burger Bar to grab some caffeination and eats to get our Saturday morning going. They have a parking lot which is always appreciated in Venice and makes a stop in so much easier. Stepping inside, we were warmly greeted and taken care of. While we waited, looking around inside, their aesthetic is such a vibe! Definitely a cute place to study, work or meet a friend while grabbing a banh mi. Bright lights and fun decor abound! On to the hydration, I had a Viet Iced Coffee and it was perfection. I also had their cold brew Jasmine tea & found it so nice and refreshing. I wish more places would have cold tea on the menu - I was so happy to see this! My friend and I also shared a variety of their pastries! We tried a croissant, carrot cake and chocolate pastry - loved them all! I know most people come here for lunch but I love it as a breakfast option! They have so many yummy eats and morning drinks options.
Normally, I'm not a big sandwich guy. It's tough to make a sandwich stand out from the pack, when you can get a sandwich at just about any food spot nowadays. Well, Lokal Sandwich + Burger Bar understands what it takes to whip up an A-tier sandwich (bahn mi). - Fresh, toasted, soft, and crispy bread - Crisp, fresh, house-made fillings - Delicious, tender, flavorful meat - Well priced, filling portions - Authentic and original tasting The ribeye bahn mi was all of those things. On top of that, the workers are incredibly friendly and hospitable, and the vibe is charming, upbeat, and fun. Add this spot to your Westside food list!
If you're a sandwich lover, you definitely have to try this place. Lokal just gets it. I've been to their other spot a few miles away, but this one really nailed it. Every sandwich I've tried so far has been amazing, and this Cubano is right up there at the top of my favorites! It has ham, roast pork, pickled cucumber, Swiss cheese, mayo, and Dijon mustard on toasted brioche. The bread has that perfect crunch, buttery and golden, with just enough crunch. and holds everything together. The pork is juicy, suoer tender and packed with flavor, the pickles give it that nice tang, and the Dijon adds just the right kick. The Swiss cheese melts into everything perfectly. It's not overcomplicated or fancy, just a really well-made sandwich Using brioche instead of the usual Cuban bread was a smart move. Whoever came up with that deserves some credit, because it takes the whole thing up a notch. i'll be back again soon for another one of their other sandwiches on their amazing menu .

I was a bit skeptical about this place since they offered Asian foods but appeared to be very Americanized with even non Asian workers/kitchen staff! They are a bit more modern like a sit down coffee shop. I am so glad I tried this place out! They have tiny tables inside and outside on a patio for sit down service but I ordered for to-go. The staff were really nice although busy. Everything on their menu sounded amazing! But I opted for: *Old Skool banh mi - I was thinking it was going to be lacking in flavor and be Americanized especially after seeing the staff. Boy was I wrong! It was fully loaded and tasted sooo authentic! I don't remember reading if there was pate on the sandwich but it did include it and I was so happy! It was heavily greased with their mayo which was so amazing! It came with all the cold cut meats with a heaping of carrots and daikon! Amazing and honestly better than some actual Vietnamese shops. *Ribeye banh mi - omgggg melt in your mouth ribeye! It was so tender and had flavor! I wasn't expecting the ribeye meat to be flavored so good! It complimented all the banh mi veggies so nicely. This is a must try! *Lincoln burger - my son murked this. He said it was good with the sauce and grilled onions. *Chimichurri sandwich - this was my son's order as well and he said it was good. He also got a strawberry banana smoothie. Amazing and must try spot!

You order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Self serve water, napkins, and flatware. Banh Mi Burger - Pretty good. Nice size patty with a brioche bun. It had the typical banh mi toppings of carrots, daikon, and cilantro. I like the burger and would get it again but it doesn't taste like a traditional banh mi at all. Spicy Chicken Burger - Crispy and juicy. Clam Chowder Soup - also pretty good. good size bowl of soup with enough potatoes and pieces of clam. Also comes with 2 pieces of toasted bread. French fries - large portion. nicely seasoned. Onion Rings - really good. The batter was crispy outside and tender inside. The onion inside was visible and very tender. I love that when you take a bite, the onion doesn't all string out leaving you with a hollow shell. Arugula Salad - fresh, has sliced almonds and shaved parmesan cheese. This comes nicely preboxed so I saved it for later. Bonus that you can have wine or beer in addition to sodas and water.
Love this place! Food is delicious, service is quick and prices are reasonable! My only complaint: why can't they have a location on Long Island! It was so good that we ordered from here twice during our recent trip. First time we ordered the KBBQ bahn mi, chimichurri steak and Cubano. As a Korean, I was all set to hate the KBBQ bahn mi because it seemed a little wrong to combine Korean and Vietnamese food but it worked so well together, especially the spicy peppers. The other two sandwiches were also very good. Second time around, we had more people so we got the same sandwiches and then added the Lincoln burger, breakfast burrito with bulgogi, albacore tuna melt, kimchi fried rice and the K-pop fries. We also tried their Vietnamese coffee and Thai iced tea. The only miss in all of that was the Kpop fries. It wasn't bad but just not as good as the others. Next time we are in LA, we will be back!

You won't be disappointed with anything that you order here. However, my favorite is the Mushroom Swiss Burger!!... Mushrooms, Swiss cheese, grilled onions & arugula... SOO good!! AND they are dog friendly, too. :) read more
Update to their bahni mi - the bread tasted much better!! It was good before too but now it's airier and flaky. I was genuinely very impressed by the bread. Still one of my go to spots for lunch. Food is always spot on, vibes are good, and service is excellent. Will continue to come! read more

we came here from out of town to get some breakfast burritos and they were this world! Not only that but the staff was so friendly and absolutely made the world ! This place is are super stopped here. Plus, it's the cutest ambience inside. Amazing! read more

I ordered a delicious banh mi from this Lokal venice location (they also have another one in Palms). I discovered this through DoorDash dine out deals so I thought I'd try out this new sandwich. This location has a small parking lot and the lot is very busy since it's shared with other restaurants. Ordering was very easy. The front staff was very friendly and I received my food quickly. I could tell that this restaurant has a nice community vibe because there were some regulars that came in. The seating is good for individuals and pairs of people. I went near the holidays in the evening but it wasn't too busy when I went in. read more

I had a delicious Friday brunch at Lokal! The vegan breakfast burrito was flavorful with tofu, cheese slices, impossible, and diced potatoes. It was a good portion and looked beautiful. The salsa was a nice touch and was equally tasty. I enjoyed sitting inside while Beijing the cute decor and great playlist. Staff was super nice too and our food came out relatively quickly. I will definitely be back. Maybe I'll enjoy the Al fresco seating next time! read more

First time at Lokal, nice indoor seating and easy to find parking in their lot. I ordered the ice matcha latte and Thai tea and the bbq pork banh mi sandwich. The banh mi was delicious, great portion of tasty bbq pork, pickled daikon/carrot, cucumber slice, jalapeños, etc. The bread was toasty and warm. The matcha latte could have been stronger, felt it was too watered down for my preference. Overall, really great quick lunch option! read more
I recently came in here to grab some sandwiches for a picnic I was having. I only know of this place since I saw it on Too Good To Go and apparently there's another one in Palms. But I do have to say sandwiches tasted great and the service was fast. I got the Banh Mi and the Chicken Ranch. And I would said the sandwiches were filling and delicious and at a fair price which in Venice can be tough to get. Highly recommend. The place is a bit small, but I think most people order their food to go. When I went it felt like a small mom and pop joint. Which is always a plus to me. read more
This is a cute little sandwich shop that has a surprisingly wide and attractive range of choices for a small neighborhood spot. It's tucked into a little strip right off Lincoln Blvd in Venice. The interior is neat and clean and comfortable with a few tables to sit down and enjoy your sandwich. I had never eaten here - the lady at the counter quickly suggested the chimichurri steak sandwich. That wasn't what I was initially thinking, but I took her suggestion - - and it was a great call. The sandwich was filled with a delicious combination of grilled steak and onions and I loved their house-made chimichurri sauce. The roll complimented it perfectly. There was just enough messy drippiness to make the sandwich enjoyable and flavorful without being too difficult to eat with your hands. The size of the sandwich was a bit modest, but the great flavor more than made up for that. Quality over quantity. I also had the tater tots and those were very good. Hard to mess up tater tots. I look forward to coming back and trying more items on their menu - especially the banh mi. read more

Banh Mi Burger is hands-down the best burger I've ever had! The perfect mix of pickled carrots, cilantro, and jalapeño. The meat patty is so fresh and not overcooked and a good size. They also have fresh beers on draft putting great IPAs like Lunar Kitten. If you are a coffee drinker, they have an espresso machine; the espressos and cappuccinos are perfect. Disappointed that I didn't come to this spot earlier! It's a corner shop inside a plaza with some parking inside and street pakring. I like how they have interior and exterior seating too. We came with a few friends for lunch and got: - Fries (5/5) flavorful and good texture - BBQ pork banh mi (5/5) well stuffed and the bread was so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Probably the most fresh banh mi ive had in a while - Bulgolgi breakfast burrito (5/5) simple and well done. Bulgolgi is super flavorful and it comes with an aioli - Banh mi burger (5/5) patty cooked to perfection and super full of flavor with pickled veggies - Iced matcha latte (2/5) extremely disappointing the color was a murky green color and the drink tasted like sweet milk unfortunately Will come back for the happy hour (4-7 on weekdays) and to try more of their sandwiches! read more
This place has been on my list for a while. I tried two different Bánh mi. The old skool and the rib eye steak. They were both decent. I also tried The cheeseburger and it was probably the best out of the three items I had. Overall this place is pretty good and I would come back. One last thing, I was a bit disappointed that they stopped making the Al pastor banh mi but it's still on the menu for some reason. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was not the only one stopping in on a raining Sunday morning around 11am. The place was filled at this point! There were families, couples and more just taking in some good food and drinks on a Sunday morning! The restaurant offers both food and drinks! The restaurant menu contains items for both breakfast and lunch! Quite an extensive menu! From hamburgers to Vietnamese sandwiches! Plus they have a wide array of refreshments from teas, coffee, beer and wine! On weekends there is an all you can drink mimosa special for 15 dollars! I opted for a bank mai sandwich! I got the veg version teeming with flavors: lemongrass, cilantro, and more! Very fresh ingredients! The bread also had really great crunch! The key to a good one is the perfect bread and fresh ingredients! The sandwich was really yummy! The restaurant itself is very cute! Tiny but well decorated! This wasn't the place I wanted to go to to grab a sandwich for my flight home but the sandwich place I wanted to go to was closed and this was on the way to the airport and it was open so I ran in hoping to grab a cold sandwich for my flight. I didn't want banh mi either thinking it may be stinky on the flight lol but when I got in there cute little place btw the only cold sandwich on the menu that sounded good was this banh mi. They had mostly hot sandwiches and the other salad one would get soggy. So it took me a bit to order and I didn't have any other options so I stuck with this place. The parking was limited so I was dropped off. This place is so small inside and cute. The person working behind the counter was so friendly and nice. Very patient with me as I ordered too. I told her I needed something for my flight and she helped me decide. I got to use my Yelp checkin too. Yay! I ordered the banh mi but honestly I wasn't looking forward to it. I eat a lot of banhmi and had great ones in Houston too but I knew I would be hungry on my late night flight and I felt like a sandwich. It took them only a few minutes to make it and they carefully made sure it didn't get soggy knowing I had to eat it later. They were all so nice. The price is a tad high for me for a banhmi. I am used to cheap viet banhmi where they offer bogo or buy 3 get 1 free but this place isn't that. They had gourmet sandwiches unique ones at that and it was clean and cute so I didn't really expect it to be great and authentic. Anyways jump ahead hours later on my dark flight and I got hungry lol had to snap a pic in the dark to eat my sandwich and wow what in the world? It's the best banhmi I've ever had'! Albeit I don't like cilantro and I told them to take it off but I did taste a strand or two but it was fine and I loved the bread. It was perfect which is hard to do. The veggies were so fresh. It was stuffed too as great sandwiches should be. It was all so good! I couldn't believe it lol I so enjoyed it and I would definitely go back with the crew next time I am in town. BF and I decided to come for DineLA last night. The kind lady taking our order was super genuine and informed us that the Happy Hour menu was a much better deal! 2 $6 Banh Mi's and $6 Onion rings to share cost less than the DineLA deal ($25 pp). Food was massive and I even had leftovers for lunch the next day. Parking was a breeze (we were lucky), and it was super chill and quiet inside for a Friday night. Such a cute small shop to pick up a quick bite to eat! They have minimal seating inside & some seating outside. The inside is so cute! That staff were very kind & it was not too busy around 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. Now for the food: Al Pastor Breakfast Burrito 9/10: great flavor! Not the Mexican Al pastor, but it was satisfying & very tasty! Vegan spicy Banh mi 9/10: again great flavor! The pickled veggies were so good & the mushrooms were exquisite! I've been to the other Lokal sandwich location on National. This is the Venice location and it is super cute and modern! The ambiance is chill. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and I loved it! My only suggestion is the salsa could have more heat. The ice latte was good too. They use coffee from Underground. Service was good. I would come back to try their other breakfast items, sandwiches and burgers. Parking is free and the restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza. I find the prices to be reasonable and this is a winner for me in terms of food quality, ambiance and value ! read more
