It wasn't even that good . *** If I've said it once ,I've said it a million times - I'm big on customer service! I hold others to, at the very least, the basic level of common courtesy. When I interact with anyone, especially those in a position that serves the public, I am polite and engage with others with a positive attitude and a smile. Of all the sandwich spots in Redding, this is by far my favorite. We have gone there on multiple occasions for a quick lunch and always received a great, fresh meal made exactly how we like it and the service has been friendly and professional. I needed sandwiches for a group of 30 quickly. I asked around and I kept getting the same (very reasonable) answer - they needed 24 hours. I was in a pickle (please note the sandwich pun). On a whim, I went to West Coast Sourdough and approached a lovely young woman who was more than happy to help me out of my predicament. She went above and beyond. She was so kind to me, I was almost in tears (yes, sappy, I know - but it's so rare that people are THIS NICE!). She not only met, but exceeded, all my expectations. When I arrived to pick them up, a gracious gentleman insisted he take them out to my car (I'm very capable, but I adore the chivalry of it all). I had a late lunch for 30 hungry pickleballers in less than 4 hours. Everyone was thrilled! I couldn't have been happier. It went over so well, I'm doing it again today. If you haven't been to this place - go. If you've gone and maybe not had the greatest experience, give them another chance, I don't think you'll be disappointed. So the French dip I ordered was delicious. Yes I know they make their own bread. My issue is price. I frequented a similar establishment in San Jose for years that charges $10 for an 8 inch sandwich cut in two. I don't see how 4 inches is worth what West Coast is charging for it. Also, my boss lady's sandwich had hardly anything on it, and was also so spicy that she couldn't eat it. She likes spicy but this was overboard. I have had lunch delivered several times now from here. Very fresh ingredients and a darned tasty sandwich. I'm usually a French dip guy but the pesto turkey is quickly becoming my favorite. Both sandwiches were tasty and the sourdough bread is really good. However, as you can see in the pictures there's more bread than filling, so pretty skimpy on the meats and looks nothing like the photo's. The cost for two 6" subs and a small greek salad which was mostly romain lettuce, and lacking in toppings, was $45.79 to be delivered. Went back, this time placing a phone order ahead of time so the sandwich could be ready when I got there. Total disaster. Whoever was taking phone orders did not speak English well and seemed to have trouble understanding English. In the end, after many more minutes than it should have taken, I got approximately what I intended to, but the sandwich lacked the spread I raved about in the initial review because the person taking the order didn't understand what I was asking for. Literally. This is a major problem for this business. You can't have the person taking phone orders be hard to understand due to poor English skills/heavy accent AND also have trouble understanding English. read more

I've only been once. And one of my hobbies is making sourdough bread from a starter I've been cultivating for years. So, if you are a chain who's going to hang your hat on bread, you'd better do better than Subway. I read in another post that the place was dirty. Not on my visit. The young lady who took our order never left the register, so never had the opportunity to touch food. Our table was clean. I ordered a French dip, and it came out not fast, but not unusually slow either. (I don't want to have it come too fast and have no reason not to return to work, now do I?) I ordered the medium size. It was probably the size I SHOULD eat, but I do like my food. Next time I'll get the large. There was a balanced amount of meat, cheese, and bread. The au jus was fine. Not something I'd drink when done or anything, but effective for its purpose. For a chain I thought West Coast Sourdough hit the spot. I finally stopped by and gave this place a try. The positive is that the food was good and the sourdough bread was very good. However, the sandwiches are overpriced for what you get. Made an order for delivery through UberEats and both sandwiches were wrong. Normally I wouldn't bother with calling but at $16 a sandwich, I was bothered they weren't made right. I put the specifications on the order through the app. When I called the store, the first gentleman I talked to immediately argued with me and said that they made the sandwich how it was ordered and I was wrong. I I tried to explain that I put the order in correctly and that I shouldn't have to deal with the consequences because the service they use has flaws but he continued to argue then handed the phone off to another gentleman. Offered to have the sandwiches remade and I could pick them up another day but I used delivery because I don't have a vehicle so that option didn't work for me. I just wanted a refund since at $16 a pop for a SANDWICH with nothing included, I at least expect it to be made correctly. He said he would try to give me a refund and then hung up on me, no assurances or anything positive. Three days later and I still haven't received a refund.
