It was my first time coming here for Gà Hấp Muối. The whole Gà Hấp Muối is delicious, tasty, and fresh. Kudos to the chef who carefully chopped the whole chicken to small pieces with all the skin (da Gà) still intact. Nước mắm gừng ngon. Bò Kho (baguette included) is tasty. Cháo Lòng is delicious. I observed the energetic female cashier/ order taker/ waitress single-handedly does all those tasks while still having the time to courteously explain to me about the foods (preparation, selection, phone in, what comes with the chicken, what needs to pay extra for, etc). I was so impressed with this same cashier, who had just patiently, and skillfully dealt with an errogant female customer ahead of me, who was very verbally demanding with her order of foods. I heard that this Yummy Express location sells both prepared food and to-go items, so I decided to give it a try. When we arrived, there were quite a few customers in line, but it didn't take too long before it was our turn. I ordered the Com Ga Hai Nam (Uc) for $10.99, and it was a great portion size for the price! The food was delicious, so I can definitely see why there were so many people in line for takeout. Inside, they also sell many other items, such as pork belly, roasted duck, and much more. (I forgot to take more pictures of the area.) However, there are only three tables available if you're planning to dine in. I recommend getting takeout and enjoying your meal at home. The quality is consistent, and the portions are reasonable. Sometimes when I order the chicken rice, they don't have the chicken leg available, which seems to happen because it's a popular choice. They also have other dishes like cháo lòng and a few other options, but those are not really my favorites. I usually come back for the Hainan chicken rice and roasted duck rice because those are the dishes I enjoy the most. The young staff here are friendly and provide good service. The roasted duck has flavorful marination with nice thin skin, not too fatty. I also ordered Hainan chicken to go. The Vietnamese style uses ginger fish sauce just as I like it. The portion comes with a huge chicken thigh. My photo only shows a portion of it. The rice was cooked in chicken broth so it tasted delicious and rich. My favorite is the tofu pudding. I've been here several times after 3:00 pm but their doors were always locked. Came today at noon and was so glad it was open. I thought it was a deli shop and food to go only but the lady told me I can dine in since they have three small tables right by the cash register. Ordered the glass noodles soup with white meat chicken. Since it is a Food To Go place, they served everything in a to go container. The lady chef told me she added a couple extra chicken wings since they were low on the breast meat but I told her I do not eat chicken skin. Ha ha. That was nice of her though. I was disappointed because I was expecting the same quality as Yummy Pho chicken soup in the older days but it was not! The soup broth was bland and had no flavor at all. The chicken breast was good though. So was the ginger dipping sauce. They go well together. We really missed the chicken pho from the original Yummy Pho that used to be here. This used to be Yummy Pho place but now they changed to Express place. Located in the Catinat Plaza and they have mostly everything like their sibling stores except banh mi and banh bao. I have ordered from here 5 times, and 3 out of those 5 times, the chicken was served completely raw in the middle. On another occasion, I was delivered cold beef stew. Getting undercooked poultry this frequently isn't just a one-off mistake--it is a systemic kitchen hazard. Serving raw chicken twice was bad enough, but three times is absolutely unacceptable. I love their BBQ pork sandwiches and every time I get a chance to go to OC, I will always stop by Yummy to get the sandwich. They recently open the Yummy express to the front in the same complex just selling sandwiches and some to go food. I went there and place 3 sandwiches. I had to wait nearly 40 minutes to get the sandwiches. This is ridiculous. This is not the first time this has happened. My favorite spot for cơm gà! I used to love their original Tuan Map location in Wells Fargo Plaza (now Yummy Bakery) and would often buy it for my company--everyone loved it.
