"Com tam" translated means broken rice and it's my favorite Vietnamese food dish. I tried this location as I was in the neighborhood and the prices are very reasonable considering how much food you get. I got the Special with extra veggie and at it all. The space is small and there was a wait at 1:30 pm on a Saturday but I left fueled for the rest of my day. Please come and create your own adventure.
Tried the new location. Still good but I liked the food truck more. Broken rice with grilled pork. Pork was just ok to me. I wanted more char flavor. Egg loaf was a bit small. Free tea is legit I'll say. Overall decent spot but it didn't hit like the truck
A nice addition to the Bolsa Mini Mall! I never got the chance to try out the food from their food truck, but I assume that it's fairly similar. The menu offers a range of both broken rice dishes and different types of pho. I'm not a huge fan of the BBQ pork chop, but I assume that they allow substitutions. They also have a bunch of extras so you can basically create your broken rice plate if you don't like their set options. The prices are pretty close to competitors', and the portions are decently sized. Each rice plate is given 2 BBQ pork chops, whereas other locations only give you 1, so we definitely had to share. * Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả Tàu Hủ Ky: 9/10 - everything was tasty * Cơm Sườn Bò Đại Hàn Trứng: 9/10 - egg was a nice addition but wish it didn't have such a long wait time * Thịt Xiên Nướng (3 Cây): 10/10 - meat was juicy and tender We had to add our names to the waiting list when we first arrived, but it only took about 10 minutes for them to call our name. The workers were very kind and attentive when we got seated and almost immediately took our order. They were also consistently refilling our cups with free herbal tea which we really appreciated! The restaurant is definitely on the smaller size, and I was actually surprised that they were able to fit so many tables in such a small space. It's located at the Bolsa Mini Mall, so parking will definitely be difficult at peak times and on the weekends. Keep in mind, however, that there are no public restrooms, unfortunately! Nevertheless, very tasty!
I'm so happy I got to check out the storefront for lunch. The location looks great with ample tables inside and outside patio. The staff is super friendly and I have to say they have great customer service. We ordered to go and the food was done so quickly. The pork chops are marinated to perfection and the smoky meat was so tender. There's a good amount of rice and pickled vegetables. I'll definitely be back soon!
Discovered Xe Com Tam VH via an Instagram Reel a few weeks ago and had to check them out during my trip home! They now have two Brick & Mortar Locations (Westminster and Fountain Valley) and closed the truck location. I ordered the Speciality Rice Plate and got the Pork Chop plate for my Dad. The meat was absolutely delicious and had that beautiful charred smell! The portions were absolute ginormous, I believe each plate can be shared amongst two averagely hungry people. Each order came with a side of soup and a complimentary Nuoc Mat drink. Each plate was about $15 each, absolutely delicious while bang for your buck. Definitely recommend!
Food is super yummy, especially the com tam is excellent, from fish sauce to grilled pork chop is well marinated The Service is a bit slow which is not a big issue for me, due to the restaurant was packed, and togo order from doordash and phone keeping coming in. This was actually my first time having com tam from a food truck, and overall I was very satisfied with the meal. The portion size was huge, which, to be fair, is pretty standard for com tam. The meat itself was flavourful and tender. Price-wise, it was a little higher than what you'd typically pay at a brick-and-mortar restaurant. That said, I feel like that's pretty common with food trucks these days given the operating costs, so no complaints there. The real standout for me was the nuoc mat, which I think might be the best nuoc mat I've had anywhere in little Saigon.
I had the com tam here, all the meats, the egg cake, the pickled veggies and even the soup was really good, but I probably had the worst tau hu ky I have ever had. It tasted old, the tofu skin on the outside was rubbery and the filling inside tasted old, for that I had to take out a star because I do believe tai hu ky is one of the main components that makes a completed com tam dish. But again everything tasted amazing.
Xe Com Tam VH (VH Broken Rice Truck) serves the BEST COM TAM/BROKEN RICE! Com Tam Thành was my all time favorite... but this truck has been around since February 2024. I remember seeing them at Garden Grove Park and they were having specials on their #2- Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, broken rice with pork chop, shredded pork skin, and pork egg cake. The plate also comes with pickled veggies to balance out all of the meat. I have since gone to them about five times. You can find their promos on their Facebook page. They currently have a promo until 3/31/26 where their #2 entree is only $11 ($2 off)! All entrees come with FREE nuoc mat (cold herbal sweetened tea). Their NEW LOCATION: 15084 Weststate St, Westminster, CA 92683 (Off Bolsa and Magnolia, next to 168 Kho Bo near Asian Garden Mall) I forgot to take a recent photo of the food, but their portion sizes have increased. The plate is HUGE and they give you a giant pork chop and a fluffy pile of broken rice. I've also gotten the #7- 3 pork skewers $13. It's a little small, but grilled to perfection, with a smoky flavor. DO NOT get the tau hu ky (fried shrimp cake) $5. It is pricey for the size, and when you get it at restaurants, it's 100% shrimp paste. Here, it is mixed with pork. Flavor is good, but not authentic and it was burnt the last time I got it. :( Service is quick and you can order on their Instagram page @vhcatering_ or you can place a phone order with them. Food was absolutely delicious and authentic. When my friend told me that there's a com tam food truck, I was skeptical tbh. It made me think it's probably one of those modern places catered to non-Viets but I was wrong! The meat was not only tender and superbly seasoned, I got 2 big pieces! For $15, that's amazing. The cha was alright to me, I've had better because it was pretty bland to me. I was pleasantly surprised to see dua chua in the veggies, so that was new. Would stop by again :)

NO OUTSIDE SEATING BECAUSE THE CITY SHUT THEM DOWN FOR IT (for now). They're planning on putting the plastic tables and chairs out again once the cops stop watching! ALL RICE PLATE ORDERS COME WITH A FREE PANDAN INFUSED GREEN TEA and a simple pork rib soup on the side! I got the #1 Com Tam Dac Biet $15 and I added fried shrimp cake +$4 and a side order of green onion +$1 but the menu shows green onion, crackings are both combined as +$1 but they only gave me the green onions because I only specified green onions and forgot to say cracklings. If it's written on the side order menu together wouldn't you think to give me the cracklings anyway? Kind of stingy if you ask me. They have actual broken rice here, so it's definitely authentic! I felt like the bbq pork chop didn't have that smokey grill flavor, it almost tasted like it was cooked over a pan, with some parts being overcooked and tough. The shredded pork floss was standard and the egg cake was good but nothing special. I wish the fried egg had a crispy bottom, but it was just cooked through all the way including the yolk which was a bummer. The spare ribs were WAY overcooked, tough and dry! The fried shrimp cake I ordered on the side for an additional $4 was SO thin, there was more skin than meat! And it was overcooked too! You could tell the skin on the outside was almost burnt which made the shrimp inside tough. Pass on this for sure! The fish sauce was good. The simple soup on the side had a strong essence of radish and carrot, with a small piece of rib on the side. I was surprised it was included! Every rice plate comes with a free cup of tea, it tasted like pandan infused green tea--pleasant, not too sweet, and refreshing. I also got their fresh sugarcane juice but it did not have enough flavor. It tasted like they added cane sugar to it so it tasted like sugar water (in a bad way). We couldn't finish this. A grab and go food truck spot that serves cheap and delicious com tam!! The portions are huge and prices are great. Call ahead to place an order and confirm their location (they've changed their location a couple of times). The Com Tam Dac Biet is my favorite. Every drink comes with Nuoc Mat which is a pandan ice tea that's super refreshing. I also really like their sugarcane juice. read more

Late night dinner since just flew back to town and not much opens. This VNese food truck focus only 2 items (which has varies condiments choice), broken rice or vermicelli. I got the vermicelli with egg roll and grilled meat with sugar cane drink and got a free herbal drink. Service is easy, quick and friendly. The wait can be abit long and also if there a long line then the longer you waited. The food is good, tasty, warm and refreshing for the vegetables. The truck park in a parking lot, from 10am til late night, so plenty of parking spaces. It's outside setting so it can be cool in the summer but can be cold in the winter. read more

We drove by this food truck on the way to Disneyland all the time so we finally decided to try it and wow! You really get the most bang for your buck here. I got the #3 and for $15 it comes with a drink AND soup. It's a pretty large portion too! I had enough for lunch the next day lol at first we were kind of sketched out since it was a food truck but don't be fooled, this place is really good! read more

This food is so good omg. This brightly colored food truck caught our attention as we were driving home from my uncle's house and we saw there were a lot of people in line so obviously that meant the food was good and we were right. The meat is flavorful and tender, plus your plate comes with a chicken broth and noodles on the side. No complaints here whatsoever; you get a hefty amount of food for what you pay AND a drink?? Finally got to try this com tam truck and was pleasantly surprised! We both ordered the number 1 (dac biet), which basically came with everything. It had pork chop, rib, two different type of eggs, side soup, and pickled veggies. I loved the pork chop, you can really taste the charredness and the portions were very generous. We also ordered crab soup (soup mang cua), which was DELISH! There were chunks of crab, shrimp, quail egg and even century egg. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

Very good broken rice and huge pieces of pork chop. Must I mention the excellent customer service. Their egg cake has salted egg which you will not see often in other store. The female cashier offered sharing plates since she noted that we ordered one portion for two people. They give out free herbal team with you order as well. Food: they perfected the balance of things i look for in a good cơm tấm. The savory, charred, juicy grill pork chop. The perfectly dried rice grains and the deep, savory nước mắm ! Bì was cleaned and fresh, def flavorful. Some places the bì will have some sort of odd taste and texture. Chả trứng: OMG i did not prepare that it would be with salted egg because of price ! This is even better The price and the operating hours will definitely bring me back for more !! Nước mắm was on point. Not too sweet, or watery or salty. Straight old school nước mắm cơm tấm without any garlic with a strong caramelly color which i love ! Not to mention the customer service was excellent. One of delicious broken rice is here. Even food truck, but the broken rice so yummy. The truck small at My Tuanh Supermarket parking area. So yoi cant dine in here, but you can eat inside your car. School bus yellow makes me happy. Food truck with a clean chimney to let you know that good meat is being roasted here picked up the special and plenty of hot, broken rice with a rib meat and grilled pork the bi is placed separately where you can add on top to your desire. The pickled has the appropriate salty and sour combo to balance the flavor of the meat. The fish sauce can use a little tweaking maybe a little sour is needed but other than that, very enjoyable. also got the appetizers for extra ski meat that was worth the price. Relatively inexpensive nowadays for a good breakfast lunch or anytime broken rice meal. From ordering to pick up is fast my order went in Eileen against the wall played on the phone and in no time my order was ready. I've seen this yellow truck numerous times. Finally got around to try it. We ordered the item number 2, which is broken rice with pork chops and egg loaf. It comes with two thin, but very flavorful pork chops, A piece of egg loaf, and side pickled vegetables. The pork chops are thin, full of flavor, and a nice portion of fat. The egg loaf has a small amount of shrimp paste flavor. The fish sauce that accompany it was the only disappointing part of this dish. It could've been sweeter. Overall the main attraction is much better than many broken rice places in the area. It does not disappoint. read more

First time seeing Com Tam at a food truck! It's in the My Thuan Market parking lot. I really enjoyed my com tam and came back again a few days later! I went with the #2 which came with bbq pork chop, shredded pork skin, and egg cake for only $12. Such a good price for what you get and it comes with a side of soup and a nuoc mat (iced tea). The workers were nice too and they even have stamp cards. Overall, great value and option for broken rice! read more

One of the most affordable option in GG. Delicious and big piece of meat and generous portion of rice. I usually call the $12 option w all the toppings. Shredded pork very good, the egg cake could be improved but still flavorful enough. Love this model of a "com tam truck" I've never seen any other viet food served like this so its pretty innovative and remind me of Vietnam. Also the complimentary tea is yummy too, very fragrant but not sweet. Already there twice n will come back soon again! read more

Best cơm tấm I've had in O.C, hands down! I've tried many spots, but this food truck tastes just like street-style cơm tấm in Vietnam. The grilled pork is flavorful, the rice is perfect, and the portion is huge -- easily enough for two people. Service is quick, and I even got a free soda for checking in on Yelp. Every meal comes with soup and a herbal drink, which is a nice touch. Definitely a hidden gem worth trying!!!! read more
Reading all the rave reviews, I was so excited to try this place; however, it was extraordinarily short for me. The truck address on Yelp isn't always correct, so I'd call to confirm location before, as they were on Magnolia and Hazard last night instead of on Atlantis. I came around 7pm and I waited about 20 mins for my food, which isn't too bad. The workers were so kind, and you can tell they were a little flustered with the orders but kept their cool and kindness with everyone. The food is what fell short for me. The meat was dry, hard, and cold. The bi didn't taste that fresh either. The rice was super dry, but thankfully the nuoc mam saved the dryness. The only thing I liked was the cha trung of the entire plate. The soup that came with the plate was decent as well. I had ordered the 3 pork xien (skewers) but they had ran out of it & replaced it with the suon for me, which again, was super dry and tough. Overall, disappointed by the truck because I expected more. I can't say I'd come back because for the price, I feel like you could get better com tam especially for the area. read more

THE GOODS: It's a hefty meal that comes with a winter melon drink, a soup that's edible (I have had worse). Service is very quick, and they do take credit cards unlike most food trucks. No place to sit down and eat so to-go only. They also have a stamp card which you get a free meal if you have bought 10 meals from them. THE BADS: Flavors wise it's alright. My box has a lot of meat but my hubby's box is overloaded with huge fat chunks that's burnt on one side. read more
