Their pizza was amazing! First off it didn't take long at all. Second they were more than happy to accommodate my picky order. Every thing was sooo fresh from the melon salad with mint to the roscioli pie's tomatoes (sun dried perfection!). The patio was great to sit on and we enjoyed a few beers with some friends while hanging out in a very safe feeling environment. All the staff were geared up with masks, gloves and sanitizer. This is my favorite pizza in Orange County. A lot of pizza places get some things right, but pizza x got it all right. I met and complimented Chef Trevor on not only having the crust to live up to the authentic NY style pizza, but the toppings are all top notch. The chicken parm pizza I would eat as a meal in it self sans crust if it was an option on a menu at a restaurant. So far my favorite specials have been the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Hammer Burger collab. Pizza X is the bomb! THE BEST PIZZA IN OC! The dough has a little char on it. It's just like back home! The sauce and the dough! MWAH! Both are homemade. I'm constantly moving and finding a great pizza place is usually priority one on one of my lists. I recently moved back into the area and Pizza X really delivered! I tried the Buffalo Chicken pizza which has blue cheese on it... WOW! I was blown away. I think thats my new favorite. They also have a Chicken Tikka Masala pizza! One thing about the red sauce... its not really super heavy its a tiny bit lighter then some of the thicker sauces which I really enjoy. The crust is light too. Pepperoni's in Newport are turning out high quality pizzas that absolutely melt in your mouth. We had the cheese pie (gotta nail the basics), which was perfectly balanced and full of flavor. The crust was thin, with a bit of brick oven char, and pliable enough to fold but not droop. The sauce had a wonderfully savory flavor, and the cheese, applied with a light and deft hand, was melted just so. Some shredded parmesan and a few fresh basil leaves round out the flavor profile, leaving me (a New York native wearing a pizza tattoo) wanting to finish the whole pie in one sitting. This is the best pizza I have has in southern california in the thin crust realm. It's very similar to mulberry st. In Beverly Hills on canon ( a ny city pizza institution). Deep rich flavor, crunchy crust, and the right amount of spice, heat and salt. I grew up in Chicago where tavern style thin is king along with deep dish. This thin is very similar. 2nd order in a week for me. This pizza is da BOMB...as in Bronx Bomber...as in NY style. This is as authentic a NY pie as I've found in 20 years living in SoCal. Oh, they're out there (somewhere) but the closest I've eaten is thin crust in a NY "style" at several SoCal establishments, while Pizza X is the real deal. They HAVE to have New Yorkers tossing these pies in the back bc they taste like a little slice of NY heaven (pun intended). What I mean is not only is it the thin crust, but you get the NY large size only, and the tomato sauce has that light, fresh tomato-y flavor...not out of a can, not heavy or over the top seasoning or graininess. Just a light and smooth tomato flavor just like the east side. And the crust??? OMG this is what makes the pizza. You have the slight saltiness and char that can only come from charcoal. I may be wrong on this but these have to be cooked in charcoal ovens. No standard wood fired or gas oven flavors here. You can taste that charcoal baby. And the 'Roni Cups??? OMG. To die for. I love roni cups and can never find anywhere that offers them. So so happy to have roni cups available here. Yes, they have the creative pizza combos like everyone else (buffalo chicken, margherita, etc.), but really the core pie is all you need. Cheese or pepperoni is IT for me! Im pretty sure I shed a tear of pure joy after taking my first bite.
