Epic spot for noodles! I've always known Xi'an has the best noodles, but I had always wanted to try. I took my dad here while we visited Tangram Mall. I got the cumin lamb noodle, the famous dish they're known for, and my dad got the beef and noodles in soup, along with the lamb burger. The food was amazing! The service was pretty quick during the week and there are plenty of places to sit around the restaurant.
Ordered to go because I had to rush back to work. Service was fast. Food was delicious. Had the Spicy Tingly Beef Muscle hand ripped noodles in soup. Really hit the spot on a rainy day.
Excellent food quality as usual. This time around we walked there from Forest Hills; they typically close around 8:30PM so we were happy to get there around 7:45 for some NS2 (Spicy Tingly beef with noodles in soup) and N2 (Spicy Tingly beef noodles) and some delicious lamb burger. Everything was made fresh and hot so we were able to enjoy it in the restaurant before they closed down. I love to dip that burger into my soup. There was plenty of meat in both the soup and the burger and the jalapeno adds a nice heat and pairs very well with the cumin. Service was great, got our food pretty quickly and the restroom was generally clean. Ambiance was like a quick sit down ramen shop vibe so there were seats and counters to enjoy the food. Its clean up after yourself mode so don't leave your mess behind. Amazing food quality as always, I love these and can eat them daily.

My favorite place to get fresh noodles. we ordered: - f5 spicy & sour lamb dumplings in soup -N1- spicy cumin lamb hand-ripped noodles 2 cokes =$30.59 it is sharable i got mild since I can't tolerate spicy food I would definitely recommend. Staff is nice and the 1st floor is only open right now.
The food was excellent here! I've been to a different location before but the stuff here tasted better than I remember. Got the liang pi, beef and pork sandwiches, and beef noodle soup. Clean and small spot. Luckily we were able to find a seat. Lots of competition in the area, or else I fear this place would be overrun.
Stopped by on a early weeknight and it was not busy. This location isn't the OG location which was a stone's throw from here (underground mall) but is relatively large with tables and a bathroom. Ordered my usual the cold liang pi (chewy, light, flavorful), which I think is still best in a competitive neighborhood. Pricing is higher than others but I think is fair. Place is clean. Note regular spicy is spicy but always get regular spicy. I believe prices are lower here and at the Woodside location (vs other Xi'an) to remain competitive.
Easy to order, there's a pos and the service is really fast. I always get their burgers, they have lamb and pork, it's pretty cheap around $5-$7. It's good and it fills you up fast. The seating is cute but I usually get it to go.
Ordered the Stewed pork hand-ripped and regular spicy. Photos were bit deceiving and the entree was SALTY! VERY SALTY. SPICY YES BUT SALTY like high blood pressure salty! Never had thick noodles before, first time experience. I took a few bites but the sauce needs to be watered down a notch for me to even finish it. DO appreciate the crunchy bits of vegetables (cabbage/asparagus?/etc)- wished there was more! Only one lady is working, she does the cook, packs/serves the food, and calls your ticket number. There's a self service machine to take your orders and you pay by credit card. Dining in is spacious. Ended up getting it to go, lady was kind enough to let me pack it. What HELPED - drain out all the sauce, make a stew pork sandwich w/white bread (helps a bit but ended up tossing it in the garbage), GALLONS OF WATER!!!!!!, and noodles was less salty! Honestly if this ONE entree was THIS SALTY, I can't imagine how salty the other dishes are! Won't be coming back - thank you for your service.
Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with this spot being such a popular NY staple. We stopped by for dinner and the space is modern and clean. You can order on the kiosk, which is convenient. We ordered the Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger ($7), Spicy & Sour Pork & Cabbage Dumplings ($9.75), Pork "Zha Jiang" Hand-pulled Noodles ($12.75), and Chrysanthemum Tea ($3.25). The burger was lackluster and the bread was tough. For the dumplings and noodles, the texture was too thick for my liking, which made it very chewy. We couldn't finish any of our dishes but the dumplings; and even that we were barely able to. Sadly, the best thing we got here was the chrysanthemum tea. Definitely get the drink, this was so refreshing and reminded me of childhood from the boxed teas.
Omg. This place hit so hard immediately when I tried it. The taste to the freshness to the portion size, I loved it. Xi'an Famous Foods has been on my list from many people's recommendations and to finally try it out was such a blessing. I ordered two things. The Cumin Lamb Bun and the Spicy Beef Hand-Pulled Noodles. The Lamb Bun had so much meat and flavor to it. And the cumin flavor was delicious, and it didn't taste overpowering at all. I did wish that the meat from the bun was cut up a bit more. Even though the taste was delicious. The pieces of meat were a little chewy and some were big pieces so it became a little bit of a hassle to eat. The spicy beef noodles were really good too! Man, if I had to rate the noodles, it would have been perfect. The texture of it right as it came out was extremely fresh, soft with that bit of chew to it, and the overall flavor just sold it to me. The meat was okay. Similar to the lamb, the beef was a little chewy and I did wish it was a bit more tender. But this place was fantastic, and I would totally come back again!
Had ordered a pork hand-ripped with dry spice, in extra spicy flavour. It was dry and spicy. The noodle has to be bitten in parts. The service was okay. The menu change constantly. Fewer options than last year. Store environment is in good condition.
BLUF: A New York institution. Xi'an Famous Foods (西安名吃) found mainstream success in New York City with notable help from Anthony Bourdain (among others); and grew from a basement stall in the long-gone Golden Mall in Downtown Flushing to several locations across New York City. This location is about a block away from the original location; Golden Mall is now a Teso Life location. We typically get the "N1" -- "Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles". The noodles are wide, thick, with a great chew; and are combined with a chili oil coating to make a deliciously addictive, satisfying experience. The lamb is chewy and dry, but flavorful because of the chili oil coating. We recommend the "Regular Spicy" version of this dish. There are less spicy and no spice versions available, but this dish depends heavily on chili oil for flavor. Conversely, we found it difficult to appreciate the Extra Spicy version of this dish, because the heat drowns out the other flavors. Other Dishes We've Tried: - "F4" -- "Spicy & Sour Lamb Dumplings". These dumplings share the thick chewy dough and spicy profile of the aforementioned noodles, with a slightly sour taste that somehow seems to work. The lamb inside the dumplings is a little dry, but the dish comes with plenty of sauce. - "B2" -- "Spicy Lamb Cumin Burger." Meh. Both the bread and lamb were too dry. Service follows a fast-food model. Order, pay, and wait for your food at the counter at the back of the restaurant; then find your own seating. Xi'an Famous Foods is closed on Sundays; and sells meal kits online for those who don't live in New York City.
Honestly surprised at how good the food is here. One of my favorite dishes is cumin lamb noodle and when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to visit. I confess that once I realized how big of a chain this place is in NY I had my hesitations but wow the food proved me wrong and I repent. The noodles are fresh and hand pulled, great texture and bite. The spice is real though so be prepared! We also ordered the lamb dumplings in soup, which was a pleasant surprise with a nice acidic punch in the broth. The dumpling skin is a bit on the thicker side, which matches the noodles so makes sense. There are notes around the restaurant saying that the food is meant to be enjoyed spicy and I'd agree. Their unique selling point is the chili oil and seasonings so enjoy it as intended if you can. Also you can order at the kiosk if the employees seem to be busy and don't acknowledge you lol. Wow! We came 15 minutes before opening and there were already people trying to see if they were opened too. When we actually went in when the place opened, the place was packed with a high turnover time of people eating and leaving. There are 4 tables of about 4 people each and people would sit with strangers like a food court. There is a kiosk where you can order as well as a cashier to take your order. I've had their beef hand pulled noodles before, but today I tried the Mt Qi Pork Spicy and Sour Hand Pulled Noodles with Soup and it was delicious. I did the least spicy since I cannot tolerate spicy very well and it was perfect. The broth and meat is very flavorful and pairs great with the noodles. As for their drinks, they have 3 main ones: sour haw, chrysanthemum, and Jasmine. I love how the drinks are not that sweet and is very refreshing after eating the spicy noodles. I see why there are two locations in Flushing. The one is Tangram is more spacious with more seats so better during busy hours! read more

It gets a bit busy on the weekends. Always a fan of their Liang pi but decided to grab a soup noodle to combat the winter chill. Spiciness can be tweaked to your liking. Noodles are the perfect springy, chewy texture. Spiciness left my lips tingling. Def worth a visit! For folks who don't want soup, I would recommend their lamb cumin or pork sandwiches. Wanted to stop by on my most recent visit to New York. Heard about this place a while ago from friends but finally got to it. The Chinatown location is easily accessible and is located on a busy street. The store itself is clean, quick, and operates self-serve style. What I ordered: Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles (least spicy) - very filling and flavorful. I personally think it's best fresh since hand-ripped noodles are long and thick. If you are not a fan of lamb then this will taste gamey. I got least spicy, and the spice was not too hot but did elevate the flavor. Spicy and Sweet Spinach Dumplings - my favorite. The sauce it sits in is very savory and elevated the dumplings. The dumplings are moist and very filling. They do not keep well, since they are sitting in the sauce. With this in mind I recommend eating the entire bowl! After trying these, you would want to finish them anyways! read more

We visit Xian foods on each NY trip to get our biang biang noodle fix, this time in Flushings. Spicy Beef noodle (N2) was very good, beef was tender & noodles QQ. We asked for less spicy but it still packed a punch which was addicting. Stewed pork noodle soup (NS4) was also solid, meat was tender, broth was light & flavorful. read more

Kind of sort of the undisputed king of the Xian Wide Handpulled Noodles. You cannot go wrong with the classic N1, Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles. Love the perfect balance of spicy, oily cumin sauce and bits of tender lamb. I'm glad I don't live closer because I kid you not - I crave this literally all the time. The chilly setting was perfect for lunch at Xian Famous Foods. Spicy cumin lamb hand pulled noodles Stewed pork burger What a perfect combo. You can pick the spiciness of your soup. I picked regular spicy but I think I'd like to up it the next time I'm there. The noodles were cooked so well and I loved the contrast of the lamb. Pick up your burger and dip it into the soup. I ate everything and look forward to the next time I'm in town. I think I will switch it up though...get a different meat for the soup and a cumin lamb burger. Great food! The default spice is already spicy enough - however there isn't much flavor. Just spice. Also these are served on paper plates and the noodles and slight sauce/soup gets stick on it. Not the best ideal option to serve hot foods on. read more
It's just doesn't taste the same anymore. And the price nearly doubled. As much as I hate to say this, This is why I hate when places get to popular and franchise starts to open. I may start to keep my favorite locations to myself, family, close friends and other foodies. Quality went down. Yet, prices went up, almost double. Maybe they gave a little more meat/noodles? Maybe the price increases was to help to help their employees but at least keep the food consistent. For example, noodles doesn't seem to have that "chew" anymore. It's seems a little thinner and/or soggier. Like over cooked noodles? Or maybe the technique used to hand pull is not great or form someone not that experienced? Or maybe it's just certain days? It's inconsistent. The flavor also doesn't seem to hit anymore. Maybe it was an off day? It's just started to get more consistently off. Also, compared to my pic from 4 years ago, It's sad as this dish satisfies my craving for good cumin spicy flavor and the chewiness of a noodle. It was one of my favorite dishes. I may give this a chance again in the future. Observe, the picture. 4 years ago, the dish appeared more red. It's appears more brown the last time I got it and look at the coating on the beef of both picture. Update in response to owner: I'm not angry about the price increase. Sure, it's annoying that it nearly doubled over the 4 years at a percentage higher than other places. Specifically, the cumin lamb noodles. Yes, I'm aware of inflation but it seems a little to high of an increase. If it really is cutting into profits then sure increase the price. But; I'm annoyed that quality is not the same anymore and I pay a higher price for something not as good. I've tried this many many times, sometimes I'll eat 2x in 1 sitting, sometimes 10x in a week over the last 6 years. I can eat a lot. So I know exactly how it taste normally and on days where there is minor differences where it's no big deal. You can look at the pictures from 4 years ago, and to the most recent one. The color is off. The liquid looks watered down. This is likely the chef did not drain the noodles properly and thus putting in excess water into the dish and thus, diluting the flavor. That has a SIGNIFICANT impact on taste. Im not sure if you change your chef often, but there is definitely a difference in taste and I can taste the difference. I'm not sure why your comparing it to bubble tea places, but i do agree that boba teas are complete rip off (like Starbucks too) but at least they maintain it at $6-8 over the last few years. Just like boba tea, I can taste the difference if the tea flavor isn't as strong and watered down. A better comparison is to pasta and ramen. This order was around July 9-14. I had high hopes to try this place. I went for their signature cumin lamb biang biang noodles. Large portion size, enough for two people. The meat was in big pieces. I wish it was cut in smaller pieces for easier to chew. The texture of the noodles were inconsistent, so parts were really thick and chewy, while others were thin and mushy. I do enjoy their tea selection. I go the chrysanthemum tea and it was really refreshing and not super sweet like other packaged teas. read more

why tf did we go here when i just searched it up and there's one in the upper west side like bffr!!! anyways we went to queens mall and since flushing was close by we wanted to stop by so we did!!! very yum! i will prob be back LOL but maybe just not all the way to flushing omfg there was no reason to go that far! but service was nice and quick! read more
A perfect spot to tuck inside amongst the heavy foot traffic to settle down for some delicious comfort food! I ordered the pork burger and the spicy & sour lamb dumplings in soup. The dumplings were incredible & the soup/broth they were bathing in was brimming with flavor. The pork was very tender, yet the burger was rather simplistic, so I decided to dip it into the soup/broth to spice things up which was DIVINE. My friend ordered the hand pulled noodles, so of course I stole a bite or two. They were delicious as well with great texture and plenty of surface area to absorb all the flavor from the other ingredients in the bowl. All in all, I'd highly recommend the food here. The cold liang pi was packed up right after I ordered. $9.25 for an order. Super quick. I was in and out within minutes. The vinegar and chili oil packets were included separately so you can add as much or little as you want. I ended up adding the whole pack of vinegar and 1/3 of chili oil... It was too vinegary for me and not spicy enough but it was still tasty. I was sharing with someone who doesn't eat spicy food so had to keep it a bit more mild. I remember the good old days when it used to be half the price today... But yeah COVID, inflation..... :( Still good and will get it when I am craving something simple yet flavorful and delicious. read more

Wow got my review and pictures removed by Yelp... odd, so trying again. I stopped by for some noodles with my friends, they sold out of liang pi around 5:30pm or even earlier :( might want to call ahead and see if they have it before you go. N3 is decent, pork flavored noodles. Drinks are skippable. read more
Came to the Flushing location on a Saturday around noon and the shop was definitely pretty bustling. Even though I only saw one employee, she did a very efficient job of taking orders and calling out people's food and the line moved quickly. The food was easy to order and came out pretty quickly and it was easy to snag some seating to eat indoors. N1- Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles - You can't go wrong with cumin lamb meat and the noodles had a nice chew, but I felt that the noodles needed more flavor / seasoning. It plenty to share between 3 but noodles are very long F4 - Sour Spicy Lamb Dumplings - Several large dumplings with thicker skin. The filling had very juicy lamb. The spiciness paired well with the vinegar at the bottom. But I felt like it needed more flavor. I ordered both dishes at a normal spice level which is typical for me, but I felt like something was lacking from them, so perhaps I will order up a spice level next level. After reading Jason Wang's Xi'an Famous Foods cookbook, I had to come to New York to eat at the original place in Flushing. The cumin lamb noodles were just absolutely amazing! The noodles were chewy and bouncy. The lamb tasted incredibly good. We also had the oxtail stew noodles which were good but not as good as the lamb noodles. Xi'an Famous Foods delivers the taste of my childhood and I love it so much. Highly, highly recommend! read more

Ordered the b1 stewed pork burger, l2 spicy asian cucumber, n1 spicy cumin lamb noodles, n10 stewed oxtail noodles, and f5 spicy and sour lamb dumplings in soup. The hand-pulled noodles were super chewy! The cumin lamb had a nice flavor. I especially enjoyed the oxtail as it was so tender. I ordered the spiciest option, but that proved to not be that spicy until at the bottom of the plate it seemed to get spicier as much of the hot oil sunk underneath. People seems to be pointing out that there are vegan markets on the menu but I can't see them, which items are vegan?
If you go to their website and look so the menu section, you can filter it. There is one where you can see the vegan items. They have 4 items. But you should get the cold skin noodles because they are vegan and pretty good.
