As an asian, I was scared reading these bad reviews of how they treat asian customers worse. However, my experience was different they were very nice and welcoming. I think all you have to do is call them and ask if they're free because if they aren't they'll just tell you when they are- like don't just go in without even asking them if they're free cuz their space is rly small. As long as you call them first and after the service give them a reasonable tip they'll treat you really well no matter what race. So far I've gotten pedi, mani, callus removal and massages. This place is cheaper compared to other salons in manhattan near the area which is great (and makes tipping not that hard). Been good so far the place is very calming. read more

Sitting in the salon getting my nails done watching the owner turn away all the walk in's from people of color and only accepting white people for walk ins. As a customer of 3 years I have had plenty of time to come to this decision and don't say this lightly. There is preferential treatment for white peoples and discrimination to anyone of color. I am a resident at Waterside Plaza. I called the salon and asked about the cost of a manicure and was told $18. When I arrived with my daughter, they looked at us up and down and I guess I don't look how I sound, and was told right away I needed an appointment. I walked out as fast as I walked in. I know code for "we don't want to do the nails of people of color". I have never seen a person of color in this nail salon, ever. I was told by a neighbor that they have walked in without an appointment several times with no problem and that this salon should be thankful to get any kind of business at all, as it is never busy. I am so disheartened by the blatant racism my daughter and I had to experience, that I am telling all of my neighbor friends and building staff of our experience and to stay away. This neighborhood has plenty of nail salons. SHAME ON YOU!!! read more

The minute Xia opened her nail salon at Waterside Plaza, I knew I found the perfect place for me. Xia is a funny, kind hearted, welcoming presence and has created a great nail salon. Every single new technique and type of polish are always available from Cat's Eye magnetic to the latest colors and formulas. The stock is always fresh, the place is immaculate, and it's like a step back in time to a place where I've always felt appreciated as a customer. Manicurist Wendy gives one of the best mani/pedis around and the spa pedi is to die for. Facials, waxing and you name it --all in a great, calming, atmosphere. Yes, my friends, I had a manicure and massage without one word being said between manicurists, without looks exchanged, just peace. I just moved to Waterside Plaza and decided to give this place a try. There's a salon near where I work on LI that's on $7 for a manicure, so I generally will go there, but for an extra $3 for comfort and serenity......PRICELESS. My manicurist was very good and her massage was surprisingly fantastic-- not painful on my knots and extremely effective. I can't tell you her name because I'd be giving away all of my secrets. This spa is like an oasis for me! Xia and her staff are not only efficient, they are also friendly and kind. Prices are very reasonable. I regularly get waxing, mani and pedis here. Recently, I started getting massages and these are spectacular. Only thing I missed during COVID times was this spa. I went as soon as they opened up, and got mani and pedi. Update: So I went in today to thank Xia because she refunded me $25 dollars when she overcharged me and wanted to tell make appointment. Before I could say anything she started yelling at me that I wrote that review in past. I feel people should think before they speak. It was really sad to see that side of Xia yelling. Before leaving I reminded her about Karma and yelling is never appropriate. if you write a factual review (which in this case happened to be one start review) and next time Xia see's you she will yell at you lol. Instead of owning up to the mistake and being courteous she was upset lol. Instead, I felt that its time to remove my previous review and I should talk to her and funny how she got so aggressive. Funny how I walked in today with an intention of thanking her for refunding me $25 but her attitude was so terrible and harsh that like how I was thinking of removing the previous review I think I would not remove it now. Big fan of this place! The ladies are really nice and do a great job everytime! Xia is friendly and always asks how she can make the visit more pleasant. I see Wendy most of times that I go there. This place is rude and unprofessional, I'm a resident at this plaza and every time I've gone in they say everything they can to discourage u to not giving a service. I walked in and asked for a refill for my acrylic nails and they said NO they don't do acrylic just silk wrap so I say that's fine n they still say there's a difference and that it can't be done. They are a nail salon and ur telling me u cannot give a basic service like a refill on nails?? The associate just kept shaking her head and instead of just keep saying no, didn't even bother to give me any other option than to have me walk out and be upset. I was willing to even buy another set and just give them business but they lost a customer by shutting down everything I asked which they acted like it was the biggest inconvenience to them since I have acrylic nails.... don't go here or you'll be disappointed. I know I won't be going here in the future which sucks cuz having a spa downstairs is a plus living here but now I need to go to other salons out of the way...I gave this place a lot of chances and act like they are too busy when there's only two ppl in there- they need to act more professional and not say no to their customers- good luck to anyone who goes here! read more

I love Xia Spa! The first time I came here for a manicure, I was amazed at the quality. Xia uses a fantastic bottom and top coat and the result is always a perfect, long-lasting polish job. The environment is extremely relaxing and Xia makes all of her customers feel comfortable and at home. The staff is always very pleasant and accommodating. It is clear that Xia genuinely loves what she does and it shows through her enthusiasm and an excellent end result. Waxing is very good here as well. Xia uses a special type of wax that minimizes pain, one of the specialties here.
