I decided to finally give this place another try. We walked into an empty restaurant. Only one other party arrived after us. I decided to order two asada tacos. The tacos were really delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the salsa was delicious as well. Their service could still use a little bit of work though. He didn't ask if we wanted yellow or blue corn tortillas. I think they were going to give us yellow, until I remembered that he didn't ask his and made he to let him know before the food came out. Blue corn tortillas are not automatic. Prices are still a little bit on the higher side but still worth the price. The veggie tacos are the same price as the protein tacos though. These in my opinions should be a little cheaper. I saw this on a best restaurant in Chicago and this spot is really close to a dessert place my boyfriend loves, so we made a date of it. I loved this simple restaurant with great prices - we first got the gordita de carne asada and the tlacoyo de huitlacoche. They make their own masa - we got the gordita with yellow masa and the tlacoyo with blue masa. I liked the blue masa a bit better but both were good. Our favorite thing was the tlacoyo de huitlacoche - the huitlacoche was excellent and yummier than some other huitlacoche I've had in Chicago. The carne asada was good but my boyfriend felt (and I agreed) that we have had better carne asada. I would still happily eat it though. Then we got a pupusa de flor de calabaza and queso which was a good size and also yummy. I'd definitely come back. I've been meaning to try Xocome. I finally did and it lived up to all expectations. The steak taco on homemade tortilla was the best I've ever eaten. It's filet mignon. Melts in your mouth. Also had the Cochinitia pibil taco on a blue tortilla. Excellent with the pickled red onions. Jamaica drink was sweet tart. So good The salsas were good but kind of hot. Great experience. So either try your luck in getting a seat, wait, or take it home. Their homemade blue corn masa is a must have when ordering anything on the menu that calls for it. Great authentic flavor. Also looks great on a dish. The tacos are always full and never been skimped on on the meat servings. Thick blue masa tortilla. Juicy and tasty carnitas. Tender steak. 2-3 tacos is plenty for how much is served. Tlacoyo de Nopal/Cactus is delicious. Again with the blue masa filled with refried beans in the middle. Fresh grilled Nopales. My friend and I stopped by Monday afternoon for a few tacos to-go. As for tacos, they can get a bit expensive here (4.00 for most tacos, 4.25 for Asada) and each taco is only a few bites. I really liked their green salsa here as it added a lot of flavor and depth to my tacos. I got the Birria and Asada tacos and my favorite is definitely the Asada. The birria was great, but a bit too saucy for me. I do like the spicy kick that comes with it. You also have an option to choose between the traditional cilantro and onion or "house salad" (lettuce and tomato) with your tacos. Oh, and you can choose the type of tortilla. The corn tortilla were pretty soggy by the time we made it back (only a few minutes drive from Xocome Antojeria, though). Once they arrived on our table, I was flabbergasting by the size of the quesadilla, it was at least 20 inches. Made with fresh handmade tortillas, the perfect portion of cochinita pibil with cilantro and pickled pink onion the tacos were out of this world, so much flavor and the smell of a fresh tortilla, and a plus to the chipotle salsa, I love when the food has a little kick to it. Wow, everything was cooked to perfection, I was happy and satisfied with my decision. They were all excellent! Really recommend this place, average Chicago prices for a dinner of two and the food was very, very good!! First time having a pambazo and it was so good! It was pretty big. Telera bread is dipped in a traditional Mexican guajillo sauce, then toasted to retain flavor. Get those napkins ready bc it is oily but oh so good. They toast the bread perfectly so it had a nice crunch on the outside and it's fluffy and soft in the inside. It was also my first time having a tlacoyo and the blue corn tortilla is soft and thick with refried black beans inside! I had it with the filet mignon and the beef was tender and juicy. Cucumber with lime drink is refreshing and it goes well with the food to clean your palate and break down the taste of the oily bread. Indoor seating is small with only 4-5 tables. Service was great! I started following this place ever since they popped up on my IG feed and found out they served tlacoyos. I've had one once many many moons ago and loved it and haven't seen it on a menu since then. We ordered the huitlacoche tlacoyo, filet mignon taco, birria taco and the cochinita pibil taco. I had to drive it home about 25 min away, so I'm sure that affected the quality. The tlacoyo was huge and I liked the bean filled masa. Something about the crema was a little too tangy for me. I liked the cochinita pibil the best. I tried to order the tamales Oxaquenos, but they were out of them. I wouldn't mind trying a few other things on their menu if I can eat it fresh on the spot. read more

I absolutely love this place. Not only is it on the Southwest Side but it is one of the few places in the city where you can find a pambaso and a tacloyo.
