I've been meaning to try Xocome. I finally did and it lived up to all expectations. The steak taco on homemade tortilla was the best I've ever eaten. It's filet mignon. Melts in your mouth. Also had the Cochinitia pibil taco on a blue tortilla. Excellent with the pickled red onions. Jamaica drink was sweet tart. So good The salsas were good but kind of hot. Great experience. Been coming here since 2019. Never been disappointed in the service or the food. Very small place with only room for about 20-25 customers. So either try your luck in getting a seat, wait, or take it home. Their homemade blue corn masa is a must have when ordering anything on the menu that calls for it. Great authentic flavor. Also looks great on a dish. The tacos are always full and never been skimped on on the meat servings. Thick blue masa tortilla. Juicy and tasty carnitas. Tender steak. 2-3 tacos is plenty for how much is served. Tlacoyo de Nopal/Cactus is delicious. Again with the blue masa filled with refried beans in the middle. Fresh grilled Nopales. Very authentic mexican food you can't really find anywhere else. Sure there's plenty of mexican joints around the city and suburbs, but no one does it like Xocome. read more

I was particularly impressed by their blue masa tacos and gorditas. The chihuahua cheese and onions of the gordita is unbelievably flavorful with a mouthful of chewy texture with every bite. My friend and I stopped by Monday afternoon for a few tacos to-go. As for tacos, they can get a bit expensive here (4.00 for most tacos, 4.25 for Asada) and each taco is only a few bites. I really liked their green salsa here as it added a lot of flavor and depth to my tacos. I got the Birria and Asada tacos and my favorite is definitely the Asada. The birria was great, but a bit too saucy for me. I do like the spicy kick that comes with it. You also have an option to choose between the traditional cilantro and onion or "house salad" (lettuce and tomato) with your tacos. Oh, and you can choose the type of tortilla. The corn tortilla were pretty soggy by the time we made it back (only a few minutes drive from Xocome Antojeria, though). Overall, the tacos were OK, but I'll have to try other options next time. read more

This hole in the wall restaurant, with no frills, no ambiance, without a bar, and having a very short and abbreviated menu is making some unbelievable Mexican food. I mean "real deal" D.F. (Mexico City) style food, that can rival any place with in 100 miles of Pilsen. Yes, it was just that good! Even my Latina, Chef wife who is a bit of a foodie snob was impressed; and that's saying a mouthful (excuse my pun). I mean, if you blink an eye for one second, you'll probably drive by this small place and not even notice it was there. So, on this Sunday night, at 7:30, we walked into this empty restaurant and us four said in unison "Uh Oh"! Well, after ordering and getting and tasting their food, that "Uh Oh" became "OMG"! We ordered: * Three Pollo enchiladas with rice, beans, salad all for $15 and all very good * A Burrito Birria that was just excellent * A Birria Gordita that was fantastic * A Cochinita Pinot Gordita that was crazy good * Jamaica juice that went perfectly with our dinner This was a lot of very good Mexican food for $40! What a Lovely new spot to come and get some really and tasty Mexican food. You should definitely come to Xocome Antojeria, located in the south side suburb of Archer Heights. Stopped by to pick up some dinner, and let me tell you It was a great experience. The marvelous and colorful ambient look of the place gives you peace. We didn't have to wait to get seated, and we got greeted by the attentive and kind friendly staff, she brought us the menu and took our order right away.  My wife decided to order the cochinita pibil Quesadilla and I ordered Two cochinita pibil tacos with the blue tortilla and everything on them. Once they arrived on our table, I was flabbergasting by the size of the quesadilla, it was at least 20 inches. Made with fresh handmade tortillas, the perfect portion of cochinita pibil with cilantro and pickled pink onion the tacos were out of this world, so much flavor and the smell of a fresh tortilla, and a plus to the chipotle salsa, I love when the food has a little kick to it. Wow, everything was cooked to perfection, I was happy and satisfied with my decision. They were all excellent! Really recommend this place, average Chicago prices for a dinner of two and the food was very, very good!! Long time needed and finally was able to come here and yes, they have Authentic Mexican food, I will add this place to my list come more often. i would definitely be coming back. First time having a pambazo and it was so good! It was pretty big. Telera bread is dipped in a traditional Mexican guajillo sauce, then toasted to retain flavor. Get those napkins ready bc it is oily but oh so good. They toast the bread perfectly so it had a nice crunch on the outside and it's fluffy and soft in the inside. It was also my first time having a tlacoyo and the blue corn tortilla is soft and thick with refried black beans inside! I had it with the filet mignon and the beef was tender and juicy. Cucumber with lime drink is refreshing and it goes well with the food to clean your palate and break down the taste of the oily bread. Indoor seating is small with only 4-5 tables. Service was great! I started following this place ever since they popped up on my IG feed and found out they served tlacoyos. I've had one once many many moons ago and loved it and haven't seen it on a menu since then. We ordered the huitlacoche tlacoyo, filet mignon taco, birria taco and the cochinita pibil taco. I had to drive it home about 25 min away, so I'm sure that affected the quality. The tlacoyo was huge and I liked the bean filled masa. Something about the crema was a little too tangy for me. I liked the cochinita pibil the best. I tried to order the tamales Oxaquenos, but they were out of them. I wouldn't mind trying a few other things on their menu if I can eat it fresh on the spot. read more

One word...Quesabirria. Homemade tortillas and heavenly consume. Pricey - $21 for one dish and an agua de Jamaica but I much rather give that to a true Mexicano establishment rather than a Rick Bayless type of joint. I'll def be coming back! read more

Hate to do this to a place I had high hopes for but I can't recommend Xocome. There's not that many places that serve Tlacoyos and that use Blue masa as well so I was very excited to try this place out. The customer service was lacking and the inside looked very boring. We were the only one up in this joint and we're stared at with strange looks. No smile, "no welcome sit wherever you like" just a stare with no expression. They finally got the picture and finally we were asked if it was for here or to go and then told us to sit down. Our server never once smiled and took our our awkwardly. We ordered a carnitas taco and a Filet Mignon Tlacoyo, both with blue masa. The carnitas were tasty, but felt like they skimped me big time on the meat. The tlayoco wasn't as good. The meat wasn't well seasoned, don't think it was filet either, and felt that the masa could have been cooked a little longer. I also felt like the could have put more meat. Despite the blue masa offerings, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

I absolutely love this place. Not only is it on the Southwest Side but it is one of the few places in the city where you can find a pambaso and a tacloyo. Everything I've ordered is delicious and the portions are huge! The Chef is incredibly talented and very friendly. This place has definitely be one a regular spot for us when we are craving authentic Mexican food.
