I have been up and down every street in Summerville trying to find a place that has a clue what they are doing, understands how to communicate with me before repairs and gets the jobs done for a reasonable price. I have a diesel truck. When I walked in he asked if mine was a diesel or gas, I told him diesel. He goes, "oh I bet that's the high pressure fuel pump, that's what it is, anytime I have a diesel truck come in here that's what it is. That's going to be expensive." Mind you, I hadn't even told him why I was there, what the truck had been doing or anything about it. I paid $160 I think it was, for the "diagnostic". That's where the right out of high school kid reads the codes and goes right down the line wanting to replace everything that his best guess could come up with. I'm a 30 year old woman but I'm not stupid. The kid said it needed a new ignition cylinder. I did some research. There was no way in hell that's what it could have been. They wanted me to pay for their locksmith to come out and make a second key to be sure that's what it was. I have a second key. "Oh well that's fine too." Trying to line their locksmiths pockets. They quoted me $300 to install the $9 part. I actually went by and said no way, that's not what it is, look for some other explanation. They called the next day saying now they didn't think it was the ignition cylinder. Shocker. Their next idea was the high pressure fuel pump. What a surprise. Quoted me around three thousand for it. I had a bad feeling about it. These people were not experienced enough. That, or they intended to scam me. I'd say probably both. I went up there to get the truck, the head guy was on vacation and left his workers there without any idea how to log into the office computer system. I waited 10-15 minutes for that to be figured out. While in the waiting room another lady told me her car had been there three months to fix the air conditioning. I had my truck towed back home. A mechanic that's a friend of a friend came and checked it out. It was the fuel filter housing. Replaced that. $400 If i didn't know any better and just let XperTECH do what they wanted, i would be out an additional $3300 for no reason. (The also tried to upsell me on the pump) Short and sweet? Don't waste your time or your money. Went there for an oil leak , cam shaft seals, they "fixed" it; was leaking again two months later and when I returned , they diagnosed a rear main seal leak with a price tag of $3000 instead of fixing the original leak properly. They said it was not the original leak. I chose not to get the rear main repaired at this time. Nine months later a different establishment diagnosed the cam shaft was leaking again. Rear main seal never had a leak. The manager complained that I waited 9 months to bring my car back to have original leak fixed. It was still under "warranty" for another 2 and a half months and I had only put 4,000 miles on the car since the repair. If a 12 month / 12,000 mile "warranty "is too much to stand by then don't offer it. She pleaded for a second chance to make it right but I explained I gave her establishment that opportunity 8 months prior when I returned after the original job was supposed to have been done. Since I didn't trust this business I didn't want them to fix it and requested my money back but the owner refused and referred me to her " warranty". She explained that I could take it to another mechanic within the warranty network to have the work done since I didn't trust her. When I asked where that would be she didn't know. Which she then texted me a copy the "warranty". When I called the number on the warranty they explained it was only good if you were 25 miles or more away from the mechanics shop and it was more like an insurance policy for the customer. So essentially there was no warranty. Overall, Xpertech didn't fix my car properly and refused to refund the money I paid them to do the job. I just want my money back. read more

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!! I took my car here because it was making some noises under the hood and they kept it for a whole week. Every time they would tell me it would be ready by this or that time it would somehow be delayed farther and farther. Well I picked it up after that week of them having it and it sounded completely the same, no improvements at all. I paid them over 1000$ for what?? I told them it sounded the same if not worse than before, to which they said it's dangerous to drive and they came and towed it from my job. They called me the next day and said they could find NOTHING wrong with it and to come pick it up. When I went to go pick it up it wouldn't start (which has never happened the whole time I've been driving the car) to which they said "oh yeah we've been having to jump start it every single time we wanna turn it on". I said that's weird considering it has never ever done that to me. I jump started the car and took it to an auto parts shop and had them test the battery, and they told me I needed a new one. Why couldn't the literal car mechanics garage tell me that?? No idea. I had my dad look under the hood and there's 2 giant holes in the air intake hose, and the motor mount is obviously loose. These people had my car for over a week, and they couldn't see that?? Save your money and go somewhere where they know what they're doing. read more

While driving to SC from NYC I began to experience steering issues. I had already driven to far to turn back or cancel the trip. So the rest of our trip I had to drive with both hands 10 and 2 which I might add is not comfortable. After arriving safely to SC I started ask around for a mechanic and after talking to 3 I chose Xpertech. Daryl and his team diagnosed the problem quoted me a price and told me exactly when the work would be done. When I got the car back I had to head back to NYC without testing their work. should have listened to the people on nextdoor.com that gave xpertech poor ratings and comments. i have a car that is worth $600-800. im on ss and 70 years old. their problem is they tried to scam me not knowing i knew prices of the parts they said needed replacing and im a mechanical engineer. 1. i had it towed for 1 mile which cost me $75. 2. they called and told me my car was ready. it only needed to replace a battery that was 2 years old. hmmmm. 3. on their phone call i biked it to their shop only to find out they had not fixed the root problem and i had to drive back home on my bike so they could run more TESTS. i told them that the battery was not the problem and i asked them if they didnt have a shop battery to use to diagnose my old car BEFORE getting me to spend $110 on a battery that may not fix the problem. MY CAR IS 20 YEARS OLD! why would i toss money out the window if the car is too expensive to fix. i was told immediately that they didnt have a shop battery to use for diagnosis and that id have to spend $110 for a new battery too... IM A MECHANCIAL ENGINEER. IVE BEEN REPAIRING MY OWN VEHICLES OR USING SHOPS FOR 50 YEARS. NEVER HEARD OF A SHOP WITHOUT A SPARE BATTERY TO USE. NEVER. i went ahead and agreed to get a new battery. they said they had none at the shop. 4. by the time i got home i changed my mind and called back 15 minutes later and said forget the battery. TOO LATE THEY SAID. they already had the battery purchased... delivered and installed within 15 minutes. bells an whisltes went off in my head but i ignored them until... 5, they called back less then 30 minutes later telling me i needed an ac pressure switch which would take 4-5 days to get there and cost me $170. so far. $75 towing. $110 for the battery. $170 for a switch + installation = $350 and none of that would fix my car. 6. the switch they said needed replacing was mis identified. it was not a ac pressure switch. it was an ac/ dc fan on off switch that cost $20-30 online all day long not $170. AND IT STILL WASNT GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. i drove that car with that switch the way it was for months. 7. the person who was the shop manager tried to argue with me. when i mentioned the outrageous increase in price of the switch from $30 to $170 her exact words were "i dont care" and she walked away from me and went outside. THAT SEALED THE DEAL. you dont treat customers like that and you certainly dont tell them you dont care AFTER they find out you know they tried to gouge you. so i payed $76 for towing + $22 for various battery charges =$98 total so they would release my car to be towed to another shop at an additional cost of $65. i lost faith that they would do a good job and charge a fair price after having to deal with a shop manager that did a poor job of handling a customer and telling me she didnt care about an outrageous increase in the cost of $30 Switch. 600% increase is not my idea of a fair price imo. And having me ride my bike to the shop before it was repaired. read more
