I wish I could give less stars and I wish half of these reviews had been around before I purchased the Living Social deal other reviewers have referred to. I bought the Living Social deal in May for a move in July from Crofton to Baltimore. It took me about 5 days to actually speak to someone to schedule the move - first red flag. When he scheduled, he told me he would also charge a $75 fuel fee - on top of the $115 LivingSocial voucher - something not in the fine print anywhere - second red flag. I contacted LivingSocial about this immediately - it took them two weeks to "resolve" this - we ended up agreeing to pay $35 instead of $75, A few days before the 7/10 move that I clearly scheduled WELL in advance, he did call to confirm the appointment. It looked like things were on track. Then, 8 am, on 7/10, the actual moving day, I get a call "oh um there's an emergency and we have to reschedule cuz um yeah let's reschedule." Nope. I told him I had to move that day and that I needed a refund which LivingSocial graciously worked out quickly despite the fact that the merchant had marked my voucher as redeemed before ever providing a service. As everyone else has said, don't waste your time or money. It's a good deal, but not if you don't get service. And it's certainly not worth the stress. Hopefully LivingSocial won't work with them (him? I have a feeling it's a one man operation as others have mentioned) again, and I will be looking into BBB to see what more I can do. Horrible moving service. The guys were very nice and worked hard but these are not professional movers. My particular move required 1 trip by professional movers. When this company showed up to move me out (having acquired no new furniture) they layered boxes and bags in the truck then realized they could not fit any furniture except a mattress on top of the boxes. Any more furniture would crush the boxes. So, it became a 2-trip move (not incidentally, they are paid by the hour). Further to this, per their original email "Your moving service consist of: 2 Service Providers equipped with standard moving supplies and materials such as: moving blankets, furniture pads, shrink wrap, dollies and hand trucks. We will also be providing the loading, unloading,  wrapping, disassemble of furniture, reassemble set up and arrangement." They showed up with NO EQUIPMENT, broke my moving dolley, broke some of our furniture during "disassembly", and broke one the leg of one of the chairs I specifically pointed out that was a 2-person job. (They felt it was a 1 person job). As of this isn't enough, I HAD TO ASSIST IN THE MOVE TO COMPLETE A 1 BED APARTMENT MOVE IN LESS THAN 9 HOURS! Horrible!!! Do not use these frauds! We agreed for $200 to move beds from storage to two homes, set up included. But then he said that I didn't include the set up at first (wrong!). He charges an additional $50. Guess what? He set up one bed, which was ours and went across town and dumped the other bed without setting it up! Even though I already paid him the $250! Do NOT use these movers. Really, just what a truly TERRIBLE experience this was- from start to finish. This is going to be long... but I can't help it. There were just SO many things wrong here... My husband and I found Xpress Movers through Living Social. As I am 7 months pregnant (and not allowed to pick up anything heavier than a toddler!), we really needed movers to help us with the whole move. After buying the Living Social deal, we spent about 2 days trying to get Xpress Movers on the phone to book our move- after 2 dozen or so phone calls with no answer or response, we started to worry that we'd fallen victim to some sort of scam. When we finally did get ahold of someone, they informed us that they were going to charge us an additional $100 fuel charge that was not in the L.S. fine print- but that they could offer us a better deal if we booked directly through them. They told us they would refund the coupon and for the same amount of money, they would rebook us for more time and more movers. This sounded fine at the time (though in retrospect I see I should have been more alarmed by the enormous undisclosed fuel charge..) so we did as they suggested. Instead of refunding the LS coupon though, they marked it as "used" that same day and told us it had been refunded. For the day of the move, we arranged reserved parking as they promised to come with a 26ft truck (paid the city $110 to reserve parking at both our old and new locations) at 4pm and work with us until 7pm. When the movers still hadn't shown up at 7pm and failed to answer the phone or return our several messages, we gave up and assumed they were not coming. We started trying to move our things on our own (exactly the type of dangerous situation for the baby that we tried very hard to avoid!!). At around 10pm, they finally called. Instead of apologizing, they told us that they'd tried to call a bunch of times but we hadn't answered (completely impossible- a total lie) and that the driver was on his way to our old house. We were still irritated, but relieved to have the help, so went back to our original location and waited for them for about another hour. When they finally showed up, they had a 16' Budget moving van, which could only end up fitting about 2/3rds of our apartment (a 1 bedroom...). They had no protective equipment, loaded the truck poorly, and when it was full, despite the work being unfinished and the 3 hour time limit not reached, they said that was it and rushed us out to our new home. When we arrived, our reserved parking time limit had expired, so they were forced to park in an alley behind our home, blocking many of our neighbors' reserved parking spots. When they were asked to move the truck so that people could get into their paid-spaces, the movers answered by loudly insulting our neighbors and calling them vulgar names (what a wonderful way for us to join the neighborhood...) As they unloaded things, my husband watched them slide our expensive new coffee table across the floor of the van on its side... I noticed them carrying items alone that were clearly too heavy for one person to carry carefully... Needless to say, when the job was done (or 2/3rds done, I should say) half of our belongings were left with deep scratches- most of them unrepairable. Including the parking permits, the coupon they did not reimburse, the fee paid directly to the company, and the gratuity we felt bound to pay the 3 movers (not sure why now- social pressure is a terrible thing.), their 1.5 hours of moving ended up putting us out of pocket $500. If you include the damage they did to our things and the fuel we used moving the rest of our things in our own car, I'd say this move cost us closer to $1500. *Note: We explained the situation to Living Social and they did end up refunding us the price of the coupon. read more

To echo previous reviewers, I also purchased through Living Social and I can honestly say that this was the worst customer service experience of my life. I am confident, based upon the earlier reviews and my own experience, that Living Social does not do any sort of quality check prior to partnering with these businesses. Living Social customer service was great and promptly refunded my money and listened to me complain about this company for 30 minutes. However, I will not purchase another living social deal. Ever. I paid a $500 move-in fee with my condo association and I coordinated extensively with the association to allow me to move in outside of moving hours. All of that work was just wasted because I allowed myself to be tricked by this scam. read more

Showed up an hour late without shrink wrap so they sent me to the store to get it (and didn't take it off of my total at paying time, actually tried to get me to pay for an extra hour). Then, broke my glass dining room table and my bed frame. Thought the price was right but definitely not worth the cost of the furniture I need to replace now. read more

I had a great experience with this company. I moved in early July and had to have everything stored in a POD, the coordinator was helpful and advised what items would be necessary before the move (blankets, tie downs) . I lived on the 3rd floor and had two pleasant guys that showed up on time and finished on time and the rate quoted was the rate I paid. If I were to remain the Maryland area, I would use these guys again. read more

Xpress Movers is by far one of the biggest mistakes I've made in hiring a company of its kind. I've moved cross-country with better results than what these guys provided. Xpress Movers "moved" me 2.5 blocks away with disastrous results. The circumstances of the move were as follows: - Movers were late on the day of the move - Damages to my hardwood floors Gouges and scratches on otherwise pristine floors - Partial transport of furniture Two rooms of furniture remained in the house at the end of the day Moving truck and other laborers had to be hired to move the remaining furniture on day #2 - Movers were unprofessional and unprepared Employees talking and texting on cell phones during the move Employees standing idle/dawdling and 1 employee stationary in the truck - Employees uncoordinated as to how/when to move furniture items - Employees left the job site during the move, leaving 2 movers instead of 3 Xpress Movers had to be helped by my neighbors, due in large part to the conduct/circumstances described. These individuals were not invited to be on site to assist Xpress Movers, but to assist the homeowner. Had they not been willing to help with the move, I am sure that the time would have far exceeded 6:00 p.m., which is when the first day of the move was consummated (hours after the cut-off time given by building Management). Frankly, when the cost of poor quality was tallied, Xpress Movers should have paid me! Yet, they had the audacity to send me an unadjusted bill. Well the cheapest deal is never the best deal they get you with the price , promise three movers 26 ft truck and equipment and supplies and assembly how can they afford that the gas alone will cost them $100 if they travel 50 miles around trip they are charging in living social $115.00 for all this living social will take 52.5% of the $115.00 leaving them with $54.63 It just doesn't add up I'm sorry Too good to be true please use common sense . read more

I wish I had done my homework before purchasing a Livingsocial deal for Xpress! The newly found company has poor reviews across the internet as the management is non-responsive and unreliable. Although the price was FANTASTIC, after countless phone calls and e-mails over the course of a week, I finally got someone to answer the phone and the gentlement who picked up the phone seemed disoriented and mumbled that he would call me back once he got into the office - leading me to believe this is a one or two man operation. I never heard from the guy again and the answering machine has been full ever since. When I called Livingsocial about the issue, apparently there have been many complaints and potential fraud concerns so they refunded me instantly. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere! read more

My experience with Xpress movers was a positive one. First, they arranged to come to my office and provided me with an oral estimate. They were professional and friendly during that first visit. A follow-up email was next, which contained a written confirmation of the amount quoted during their visit. On the day of my move, they arrived a few minutes early and were completely prepared. During the move Mother Nature provided a torrential down-pour. It was an awful rain! The men never stopped working and did not complain. As a matter of fact, they were upbeat and positive, despite the less than ideal weather conditions. The move was complete in less time than they estimated. I was impressed with the professional attitude, the fast service, and the motivation levels that were maintained throughout the entire move. Payment was made through a PayPal invoice. There was nothing about the experience with Xpress movers that was not positive. If the need happens to arise in the future, I'd hire them again without hesitation. :) read more

I purchased a deal through Living Social and my experience with them was horrible (to say the least). They never called to confirm the move and after contacting them several times, I figured to send a text and to my surprise, received a text back. The movers showed up 2 hours and 15 minutes late. When I scheduled the move (3 weeks prior to moving date), I told the owner, Thomas, the specifications of the move and requested a 24 foot truck due to the size of the move. The movers showed up with a 16-18 foot Budget truck! They rented a truck for the move and still rented the wrong size!!! As a result, they had to make to trips and still left items behind. I did not want to deal with them a second longer therefore, I decided to finish the move on my own. A significant amount of my furniture was damaged because they failed to wrap it and stack it correctly in the truck. The movers moved extremely slow, did not know how to maneuver the furniture to avoid damaging the walls of my home and of the movers smelled like marijuana after the second load. Thomas promised that all furniture would be wrapped and protected and the movers failed to follow through. I am extremely dissatisfied with this company's service. In addition to the Living Social fee, I had to pay them $250 to cover the time over 2 hours, which Thomas discounted due to the inconveniences however, my furniture remains damaged. Do not waste your time with this "business". I bought a Living Social deal and had to request a refund. it was difficult to get anyone on the phone. When someone did answer, they requested to call me back, but never did. When I finally was able to book move, there were add on fees even though my move was not out of area specified in deal. Most damning of all THEY DID NOT SHOW UP for the appointment. I tried to work this out with Living Social, but could only get refund. I was stuck finding another mover and my move plans postponed. thank goodness I found Suburban Solutions through Yelp. read more

BEWARE! Well I thought in spite of the bad reviews and the low stars I would get good, honest service I even told him(Thomas) that I was a little reluctant to use his services. His response was yes they have some bad reviews and they make some mistakes but there company has been around since 07 or 09 I believe. First off they have no definite address of location you would think being in business more then 5yrs in a legitimate business you have to have an address or headquarters so you can file a complaint or set up an appointment of service. You have to call a cellphone. My FIRST mistake. Then the day of move they had none of the items mentioned(moving materials, bubble wrap, dollies things of that nature, they had an old beat up budget truck (No business logo), and about 6 movers. Two could hardly speak english. Through the move things got broken, ripped and my screen door to my sunroof was broken. In spite of this these were good guys with the exception of Thomas, these guys aren't licensed to move you and I was overcharged for my move. When I went over the numbers again I called the guy Thomas to explain and he in turn said "no problem" even though they tore my new bed headboard that wasn't a week old I didn't complain that much they broke my screen door off the hinges ($25) to replace. I was told I would be reimbursed the damage for the door and the overcharge that weekend (beginning of july 2016). So I tried to reach out to Thomas and he never answered his phone and I sent pictures and emails til this day no response. My SECOND mistake was I thought he was going to be honest in his business dealings but I was wrong. He didn't even care to return any of my calls, emails texts. I called him from home he answered and right away put me on hold and never returned. It's CLEAR Thomas isn't looking for repeat customers or high referrals. I didn't want to put this review out but I believe it's my duty to other potential clients that he swindles for service. He talks like he's really concerned about your needs so if you chose the company BE AWARE!!!!! HIS ONLY CONCERN IS A FAST BUCK NOT EXPERT SERVICE. I already contacted living social regarding the fact that express movers didnt honor my deal as advertised and actually overall hindered my moving experience by being late, unprofessional, and damaging my items. They took almost two weeks of me calling them daily and leaving messages to actually get back to me and schedule. They never called to confirm the day before or morning of as promised-- at that point the person said they would be arriving within the "scheduled time block of 12-2 pm" when I had actually scheduled them for 12 pm, explaining at that time that it was important they arrive on time because due to them taking forever to schedule, I now only had an hour of elevator time at my new place. They were three hours late and only had 2/3 men advertised. I had to tell them to take apart my furniture after they damaged it and the stair wall trying to get things down. I even took some of my things apart and started moving them myself because they were so slow. I had to constantly watch them - had to bring legs they took off the table to the front door so they would pack them. They complained and were rude to me. They left a sweaty shirt one of them had taken off in the house and I had to bring it to them as well as leaving their lunch garbage in the house. They were so bad we just helped them move my things into another truck we had at the new living location rather than having them bring anything into the new apartment and then we moved everything ourselves. When living social contacted me about my complaint regarding them only sending 2 men, they claimed I had known and said it was ok. read more

I would give this company negative 10 stars if I could!!!!!!!! The company is unbelievably unreliable -DO NOT use them! Were scheduled to come on a Saturday to North Carolina, but called late the night before to cancel. They are very hard to get a hold of and don't answer phone calls for days. We rescheduled for 9am the following Sunday.....they were apparently "stuck in traffic"......and arrived at 10:30 PM, after a number of phone calls changing the arrival time. I asked to reschedule as it was so late, but they were pushy and insisted it was impossible to do so. The only reason I backed down and let them in at that hour was because my daughter really needed her furniture which she had been storing at my house. They said it would only take 45 minutes to pack up and get out but it took 3 hours! They left at 1:30am, which gave me about 3 hours sleep before I had to get up for work. I was SO angry I actually could not go to sleep for quite a while. They took art work down in my hallway which was very hard to get up and just put it back haphazardly. They also left garbage and packing material strewn all over. Just an awful experience over all. Nuff said. read more

Like many of these other reviewers, my experience was just as awful. They lured me in with the cheap living social coupon, but they didn't even show the day they were scheduled to come. They came the next day at 7 in the morning with only 2 movers, not 3, that were advertised in the coupon. They took their sweet time moving my stuff and instead of 3 movers for 2 hours, I had 2 movers for 5 hours. They proceeded to charge me an extra $350 for the extra hours, but were "kind enough" to waive the ridiculous $100 gas fee (my apartment and new house were less than 5 miles apart) on top of the $350 for my troubles. What a load of crap. Also worth noting this company is Xpress Mover, not Xpress Movers. I called Xpress Movers, that seems like an actual legit company, and left a voicemail about how pissed I was and they got back to me saying they've had a million voicemails from other customers like me but it was not them. These guys are a complete scam and are totally shady. DONT USE THEM read more

no stars for this co. as others have said.....wish there was a minus stars!!!! like the rest of these reviews...horrible experience. scheduled to arrive at 8am. at 9:40, they call to ask address!!!! and to say they had trouble w/the truck. they arrive w/a u-haul far too small and 2 men, not 3. offered $265 charge in case 2 trips were necessary (more than double $115 living social deal) . i declined...then they state they will send 3rd man in 20 min. i waited 20 min, plus another half-hour and dismissed the two men in the too small truck stating i will work it out w/living social, which i hope i can. reading these review taught me to ck things out before i make a living social deal. i've lost a day in my process, which is serious business for me. read more
