This guy was hired to help with a sensitive hoarding situation and instead of showing some much-needed compassion, he took videos inside the home without permission and posted at least a DOZEN videos about it on social media calling them disgusting. I work in mental health specializing in hoarding disorder and own a cleaning company that does this kind of work, and this guy needs to find a new job if that's how he treats his clients. What he thinks is so "disgusting", isn't even a fraction as disgusting as the way he treated those poor people. It's clear from his MANY one-star reviews that he is unprofessional all the way around. Excellent experience. Our move was a bit complicated, but the company was able to make adjustments and get the job done efficiently within a reasonable amount of time. The final price (after almost a whole day of moving) came out to be much less than any other quotes we had received. I am hesitant to give the last of the 5 stars because one of the movers that the company had hired did a very minimum amount of work the whole day (at one point my roommate and I were carrying a bed frame, on our backs, through a hallway while he trotted past us carrying nothing but a light portrait frame). However, the supervisor of the moving company (who personally accompanied his movers and actually put in physical work himself) was quick to notice the aforementioned issue and made it a point to assure that the operation continued to run smoothly, regardless of the faineance of one his employees. While the movers were nice the overall service was unprofessional. They showed up two hours late with a truck that already had stuff in it and was way too small for my move. This caused them to need to make two trips which increased my costs and the "discount" didn't make up for this mistake. They damaged my headboard and broke a table I indicated was fragile. read more

They then called me three hours later to explain that they were unable to come in that they would come first thing Saturday morning. Firstly I just have to say the movers were very polite. This review is mainly on the administrative side I guess. So they came to move my friends 3 bedroom house today, she was given an estimate of arrival for 10-10:30am. They did not arrive until 12 PM and didn't bother calling my friend to let her know until 11:20 that they were running behind. When they arrived, it was one guy in a small truck probably fit 1 bedroom. The guy sat in the driveway for half an hour waiting for his coworker to come help move. The truck was filled with some junk also, so he had to empty the truck out. So as assumed they had to make 2 trips because the truck they brought was too small so the move took longer. They broke my friends heirloom table and scratch/dented her headboard. Shit happens ok we get it, however because of how long they took to get here and having to make 2 trips her day was screwed. The move didn't finish until 7pm, it shouldn't take that long to move a table, 3 beds, 1 couch and a few boxes (we took a lot of boxes over ourseleves). So all in all the owner called and said they'll knock off $10 per hour. I'm sorry but they just fucked up her day, and it was their fault for bringing the smaller truck when she told them more than once it was a 3 bedroom. All in all I would not reccomend them, they do not seem like professional movers. read more

I feel so awful that I've waited so long to do this review. They were amazing!!! That couch pic, yeah, that was us. 14 floors! But first, they moved us from Pittsburgh, PA to New Brunswick, NJ, dealt with crappy weather and crappy parking and, as I mentioned, small elevators that don't fit a standard couch. In an effort to minimize anxiety I did a good deal of research (reading reviews, collecting estimates, checking with the BBB and the like) before scheduling our move from Annapolis to Rockville. Even though it was a short move and our 2 bedroom apartment was fully packed our busy schedules didn't leave much margin for error so I tried to be thorough. From the very first call the guys at Yao Movers were polite, professional, and helpful. I honestly just really liked them. Even though the company was so recently established that the information available was minuscule, I went with my gut. We couldn't be more pleased, the whole thing went off without a hitch and they worked so quickly that the hourly came to $40 less then the flat rate I was originally quoted but we gave them the full amount in addition to the tip because we so appreciated their efficiency. While they had good yelp reviews, they didn't have that many of them so I was a bit hesitant about hiring Yao Movers. But, we got a good impression when Wesley came to the house to assess the items to move and form an estimate. He and his team did a very professional job from the on-site estimate to loading at the house to unloading at the condo. Furniture was disassembled and re-assembled as needed and mirrors and fragile items were wrapped to ensure protection. Not only was their estimate the most fair and accurate out of all the bids received, there were no hidden fees. At 1am before the movers were supposed to arrive, we changed our minds on keeping some furniture so we texted Wesley and he was able to accommodate by asking his team to start later than planned. The only slight nit was we thought loading could have moved a bit more swiftly, but in the end, the project manager didn't round up the hour -- such a pleasant bonus! The job came in under estimate. Just more evidence that these guys are fair and professional. So glad we took a chance with Yao Movers! And, very happy to support a younger, local business like them. These guys were great - much less expensive than most other companies quoted, with no insane extra fees for travel (just a flat $50 fee). We hired a 3-man crew for our move; we moved from a 3-bedroom 3-floor townhouse, and had most of our items packed already. The guys were pretty fast, and had us moved out and moved into our new place in about 7 hours (we were guessing it would take 8). The guys were really nice, friendly, and polite. My only two complaints are that two of the guys seemed to be on their cell phones at various points of the day, so it felt like it was taking up moving time. Also, when they reassembled the beds, one of the beds had only been hand-tightened and was totally loose and wobbly. We just took off the mattress and re-tightened it ourselves, so not a huge deal. They did a great job, and it was a great value! read more

I called the number found in local grocery store and then called and talked to Kevin. Based on the price I got from another moving company, I said I would not use their service. However, Kevin called me later to said they wanted my business, so they would be willing to match the price. Consider they are closer to our home and they could speak Chinese, I decided to go with them. To avoid the potential issues, I emailed him and confirmed the service and the price. He agreed to waive my piano moving fee and fuel fee since I was close. To make sure, I confirmed my appointment with Kevin on last Wed evening for the Sat move. Kevin told me everything is set, I thought I was ready to go, but the nightmare started on Friday night.... I got a phone call from a person around 11pm Friday night (saying he was the owner of the company) and told me that Kevin was his partner and he just fired Kevin, more importantly he could not agree with the price Kevin told me. I told hime the email communications back and forth before with Kevin, but he said the personal email Kevin used before did not count. He said in order to come, he wanted to charge me more for fuel and piano, which was going to be at least $200 more. That was absurd, at the last minute to tell customers they won't honor the price they promised before ! I told him that Kevin was part of the company when the quote was sent and they should not treat customers like that. That is first time I have ever heard. The most annoying statement the guy made was that he did not want to do business with Chinese. When I asked him if he is Chinese, he admitted it. I was shocked by his comments and also was very disappointed by his "smart" way to trap customers, so I refused to pay extra he asked and decided to go to other companies after the mid-night... I personally think being honest to customers is No.1 important thing to run the business, you should keep promises you made to customers and should not use trick to get customers in first, then ask for more the last minute to take advantage of it. I honest do not know if they use the same trick to other customers before. I will definitely not do the business with this company again and remind other people to be careful with their trick! read more

This was the worst moving experience of my life (and we are a Navy family, so we moved a lot). We were given an estimate of 3 hours with 3 guys to move only 4 miles away. One of the guys never showed up. Okay, so I expected it to take longer because they were short one guy. But this was ridiculous! They started at 9:30 am and didn't finish until almost midnight. I've never seen two people move as slowly as these guys did. One of the guys spent half the day on the phone. On top of that, they informed me at 6:30 that not everything would fit on the truck and they would have to come back after unloading to pick up the leftover pieces. My husband, who had been on the phone countless times with Kevin, asked him to have someone pick up the remaining pieces the next day, otherwise it would have been 2:00 am at least. I was not going to subject my new (and old) neighbors to that. Fortunately the two guys who showed up the next day were quick and efficient and it was a much more pleasant experience. In the end we did not have to pay for the total of 16 hours, which was way more than we contracted for and ended up only paying for 9 hours. read more
