Just found, but already obsessed with, Blue Palm - it's a tiki bar and it's perfection. The cocktails are works of art. Among our group we tried 6 or 7 and all were special and unique (like fun glassware, colored foam, crushed ice, boba, fun garnishes, etc). I'd definitely recommend getting a flight to try as many as possible! The bartender was amazing too - and she let us know that the foam is vegan/dairy-free (actually she said all the drinks in general are vegan/dairy-free). Another stand-out was how sturdy and comfortable the chairs are - a full wrap-around back and cushioning.

The Blue Palm is great. It blends a great tiki bar with a great neighborhood hang and has the most chill vibes in KC. Now is the *most* authentic tiki bar? I'd say no, but don't let that stop you. I like it better here than Kon Tiki and while I'm still really sad over the loss of Tiki Cat (RIP you unicorn gem of a bar), The Blue Palm is divine it's own unique way. I stopped in here for a springtime patio meet up with friends and was not let down. The cocktails are some of the best tiki inspired drinks in town, and they have a great happy hour to boot. Shout out to the servers here as they are fabulous. I'll be back!

I always thought a tiki bar in Strawberry Hill was a good idea and here we are. The menu features your favorite classic cocktails, but also offers a rotating list of originals. Beer and wine are also available if that's your thing. Inside is definitely a vibe, however the patio provides a magnificent view of downtown Kansas City when the weather cooperates.

We had always had a good time here as their drinks are super duper delicious. I'm more of a picky person and almost everytime we stopped by we always loved all the drinks we had. We usually do the flight. Right now they have their new Halloween themed menu. I love the Tarot Deck one, absolutely delicious! It was empty on a Wednesday night but we had the time to chat with the bartender and had a fun time. The decorations are outstanding in pirate/Halloween themed. Gender Neutral bathroom so that's a plus! Definitely would come back for more!

While they don't serve food the drinks are on point. The place is a little on the dark side but it adds to the appeal. Our waitress was amazing. She was attentive without hovering. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and we ordered a lot. The drinks are nice and strong so a little goes a long way. It is not listed on the website but they do offer flights in case you can't pick just one drink. Can't wait to go again.

As a self titled tiki bar connoisseur (read: tenacious lush), I've been to a lot of tropical flavored drinking establishments, and this is one of the best. Straightforward, fun decor, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a downright damn good mai tai--and painkiller, and oat milk clarified punch.

I went here for a girls night out with my sisters last week. Roxie (one of the owners), was working and bartending. PHENOMENAL presentation, guest and drink service and ambiance. We all ordered flights (plus one extra) because we couldn't choose just one and wanted to try everything. The Taro flavored one was our favorite! Highly recommend this spot and will be coming back soon

I'll bring the punch line to the top (see what I did there....tiki joke). I enjoyed our time at the bar, we had another couple next to us that were nice to chat with. The waitress was solid. The location wasn't great for us as we live in Lees Summit, so it was a bit of a trek for us. That may not be an issue for you. Just due to the distance we had to travel, the experience would need to be over the top great to convince us to return. The drinks were ok. We had a total of 4 drinks between the wife and I. The bill worked out to be about $75 with tip. I think this could be a lot of fun with a group out on the deck. The ambiance worked well enough...the right music playing for a Tiki bar. For tiki nerds, it's not like the old KC tiki bar that was in the basement of a local restaurant. You can decide what that means to you. Overall no complaints.

I've been looking forward to visiting the Blue Palm since I first heard Roxi share about her dreams for the space. Nestled in the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of KCK, the Blue Palm is an inviting and welcoming oasis of calm: comfortable seating, well thought through lighting, indoor and outdoor seating, and best of all - classic and original drinks from one of the area's expert tiki bartenders. The originals on the menu rotate seasonally; if you spot the Tarot Deck, I loved it Take note of the address or use your Google map to get there your first time, as the Blue Palm really is in a neighborhood Once you've visited, it will be easy to find. Tiki lovers will love the quality of the drinks here, friends will appreciate the space and warm welcome.

I came for the brunch popup on a Sunday and had the best time! The drinks are genius and amazingly crafted. The food was tasty and generous portions. 10/10 Will be coming back!

LOVE this place! Roxy and the rest of the staff are awesome and make the best drinks in town. No place does tiki in KC (K) like The Blue Palm.

Wonderful little nautical/tiki themed neighborhood bar with an amazing overlook of the city. A lively atmosphere and impeccable service guarantees many a return to this quaint 'port of call'.

The space is smallish but they do have bar seating in addition to seating throughout. The service was friendly and the drinks were great. They don't offer food, but they do offer cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. I went on a Sunday and they have a special menu called "Almost Monday." It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

When you arrive there is parallel parking available outside the bar. When you walk in you'll feel like your bright, vibrant, and feels incredibly welcoming. Also, they have some really fun drinks as well that have been thoughtfully put together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I started with the Reformed Porn Star (vanilla vodka, bronson's tropical milk punch, passion fruit, Prosecco, citric acid and popping boba) which was by far my favorite drink and felt like I could have drank a couple more of these. Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). If you are in the area, this bar is a must try, the bartenders were awesome and took good care of us. Between the creative cocktails, fun atmosphere, unique floral setting, this was a memorable experience I'd definitely return for.

That changed yesterday, when Diana Condori, the bar manager, was named a 2026 James Beard Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service semifinalist. As we love supporting restaurants and bars that receive that kind of recognition, my wife and I headed to Fern Bar that evening. I was especially curious what exactly a "sugarcane and agave bar" meant. We arrived around 5:30pm and found only a handful of guests inside. After congratulating the bartender who first served us, he mentioned that Diana was working that night and would stop by to meet us. During our conversation, Diana shared that she didn't even know she had been nominated. She woke up Tuesday to a call from owner Bryan Arri, who said he had big news and was coming over. Her first thought was that something terrible had happened--like the bar had burned down. Instead, he showed up with coffee and told her she was a James Beard honoree. Diana is originally from Bolivia and has lived in Kansas City most of her life, with the exception of time spent in San Francisco during the pandemic. She further refined her cocktail craft through local pop-ups in Kansas City under the name Condor's Cove. When Bryan was preparing to open Fern Bar, he reached out to bring her onto the team. The printed cocktail menu immediately reminded me of the Monarch and the Mercury Room--not surprising given Bryan's background at Manifesto and the Monarch. Thoughtful, intentional, and clearly designed for people who appreciate serious cocktails. We planned on having one or two drinks but ended up staying for three, thanks to an outstanding lineup and a memorable conversation with Diana. We tasted: * No Fly Zone - Rum, agave, pineapple foam * Mr. Collage - Smooth, elegant, egg-white cocktail * Three Negroni Lunch - Bitter, boozy, and beautifully balanced * Pendergast No. 4 - Complex and spirit-driven * It's Bananas - Banana liqueur with bright tropical notes * Off the Rails - Creative and well-executed rum/agave cocktail One downside of many cocktail-forward bars is the lack of food, but Fern Bar offers two varieties of mini burritos for $4--just enough protein to keep things balanced while indulging. Great concept, exceptional service, and truly memorable drinks. Check it out--and be sure to say hello to Diana.

The venue looked perfect, so I reached out to Amanda and booked the event. A few weeks before the brunch, I had questions about flowers and parking. I called Amanda several times and never received a return call. I also texted her and discovered that the phone number listed on the website was not working. At that point, I became concerned and honestly wondered if I had been scammed. Since I live out of town, I asked my sister to stop by the venue. She went there twice. The first time, she spoke with someone at the bar who said Amanda would call me back, but I never heard from her. The second time, my sister was able to speak directly with Amanda, who said she had been very busy and would contact me. Eventually, Amanda called and apologized, but I felt she often spoke over me when I was trying to express my concerns. I found it unprofessional that multiple calls and texts went unanswered and that my sister had to make two trips to the venue before I received a response. A few days before the event, Amanda apologized again and assured me she would make things right. She told me she would be present on the day of the brunch and also mentioned she would reserve a parking space in front of the building for some of our elderly guests since the venue is located on a busy street. On the day of the event, I arrived to find scaffolding in front of the building, which was disappointing and affected the appearance of the venue. When I called Amanda, she informed me that she would not be there after all. The reserved parking space that had been discussed was also not available. The brunch itself went well. We had approximately 35 guests, the drinks were very good, and the staff members who were there worked hard. However, there were only two staff members serving our group, and the overall customer service leading up to the event left much to be desired. As someone planning an important event from out of town, communication and responsiveness are extremely important. While the event itself was successful, I was disappointed by the lack of follow-through, inconsistent communication, and unmet expectations. My hope is that Third Place Lounge improves its customer service so future clients have a smoother and more positive experience.
