I had a wonderful pregnancy and by weight gain was really post-partum as I had a C-Section, nursed -'d had my child in the dead of winter. Yes, I know this all sounds like excuses...I reached out to my former trainer Manny and he said he was at DTC full time. I scheduled a consultation with him to check out the place and get more info. Located across from St. Anthony's on Mineral Spring, very clean, lots of high end equipment (they have a Jacob's Ladder torture device) and it's just clients and their trainer. I do belong to my local Planet Fitness and know a bunch of machine/dumbbell/body weight workouts but I am no expert in pairing them, knowing which weights to start and proceed to, etc. these guys do all that thinking for you - but at the same time, ensure you understand them and are educated so that you can do them on your own. The packages seem pricey but when you figure the 1:1 time for an hour each week along with the app and the nutrition meal plans, it really is worth it. The more sessions you buy upfront, the more the prices drop per session. They also have a great protein shake bar, my favorite is peanut butter/chocolate/coffee. Those aren't included however you can buy a shake card so you just get it stamped each visit. They do have complimentary waters though! And should you wish to get some spa treatments, that's there as well! I have yet to indulge! The place is great, people are nice, it's not a gym with any specific type of people - I've seen clients in all sizes and ages. The trainers all seem great and have different styles. I'm not quite at my goals yet and a lot of that is a lifestyle change for me which I'm chipping away at, but if you are looking to make a change in your life - check this place out!

Staff should circulate around, people often sit on machines yapping on their phones for 30-90 minutes-nonstop talking and not actually using the machines, it's aggravating when you want to workout but can't fully do so-they should be removed from the machines by staff. It's an ok gym-not the best or the worse.

Now my fiancé and I wanted to get in shape for our wedding next year and we knew we had to start now. I chose PE fitness studio because it had the ambiance I wanted, a comfortable setting to work out that was a typical gym. They host small group classes and one on ones, so you won't catch some creep in a machine in the corner slowly moving while staring at you. Perfect. Not looking to go to a gym. I need someone to motivate me to not quit and just sit there. Laurel suggested we start with 20 half hour sessions with me and my fiancé. I couldn't commit so I agreed on 15 but will definitely be buying more. She motivates me by chatting me up about my favorite topics to get me forget about the agonizing pain in my butt as I squat across the room. You think 30 mins isn't a lot, but when you mix in cardio and the deathly push ups, trust me, it is. Laurel is a sweetheart and doesn't let me quit! The other day she threatened me with burpees if I tried to cheat on my across the room squats, aka I ran halfway across the room when she wasn't looking! Laurel is a sweetheart and soooooo flexible with scheduling. I 100% suggest one on one training with her. It's pricier than a gym but let's be honest, you weren't going to the gym. You're less likely to cancel when you have a wonderful sweet woman waiting on you!!! Did I mention she has an adorable pit bull puppy and she texts me photos of him all the time??? Because she does! I was afraid to more than a 30 min ciruit class and now I take up to 4 classes a day. It is all because of the trainer Carlos who has taken time to help answer any questions and is even helping me with my nutrition. He accommodates the exercises to meet each individual in class. He's awesome! The best mentor that I have been lucky to work with. Carlos Silva is an excellent trainer with 20+ yrs experience. He goes above and beyond. Because of his personality, insipiration and motivation is why I continue to workout.

It happened to be a bring a friend day. So I turned around and stopped in. I was met by 3 awesome staff members, Kelly, Nikki and Dave. They all made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. I purchased 3 introductory classes and immediately fell in love with this place. I saw people from all ages and exercise levels. I signed up for a membership. Within one month I was doing exercises that I had never done before. Most of them I thought I couldn't do. But the trained staff showed me, patiently, how to do it and let me do it at my level. In one month I have been able to run, which I couldn't do, and my blood sugar dropped 100 points. The bonus is that I lost 14 lbs as well. It doesn't matter what your fitness level is. The class starts late, you warm up stretch, and before you know it what is suppose to be a 45 minute class is 15-20 minutes. If you count the rests in between you're lucky if you get a good 15 minute workout in. Now I perfectly understand that this is a special; however the point of specials is to get people so fired up for your gym that you'll sign up whatever the costs. Nope not the case here and I for one was very very disappointed. This is my third time doing CROSSFIT and this one for sure was my worst experience. Gave them two stars because the actual members looked like they were having a good workout. In the mean time the last time I went, I was like you can keep the money. At the time I was a member at golds gym but never found a solid routine that yielded any results. I had been going to many expensive ,larger upscale gyms but couldn't recieve that personal touch. A friend recommended Carl Taglienetti and I started training with him. The gym in contrast is not glitzy but his personalized care is what has made the difference in my life. Today 12 years later I must admit Carl has changed my life. I'm in great shape , I eat well visit him 2-3 times a week he has strengthened my body and mind that it allowed me to go back to my childhood sport , ice hockey goaltending . I play once a week with one practice session a week as well. At 44 I find myself playing with kids that are half my age! Carl is not only my trainer but the trust I have built with him brands him as a true friend . In the gym you can see that his clients become that! My son and daughter started training there at age 10 both are successful athletes now my daughter age 12 plays basketball for MountStCharles and my son age 16 is the goalie for the Boston Jr Bruins.
