Every time I walk into Y-Que, I get the feeling that it is here that I will eventually meet the man I will fall in love with, date briefly before shacking up with, quarrel with daily, and eventually break up with but never stop loving. This is probably because the types of people who work and frequent this establishment are my kinds of people, and thus, possibly my Bizarro-World soulmate. Having said this, I make an effort of not visiting this place more than once a year. I need to delay the inevitability a little longer. I have never had a less than wonderful experience here-- and when I say wonderful I mean it in the most bizarrely terrific sense of the word. If you like knick-knacks, clever and unique t-shirts, and useless paraphernalia that makes excellent gifts, then this is the place for you. Note: Your experience at Y-Que is bound to be improved ten-fold if you have a couple drinks before you shop. I fuckin' love this place!!!! Let's get one thing straight here....there are about half a dozen stores specializing in Ironic Useless Crap within a half mile radius of Vermont and Hollywood, but this place is by far the best. Every time I'm walking around in LF Village, I have to stop and check out the new shirt designs hanging in the window. Whatever pop culture or political icon is worth skewering at the moment, Y-Que will have a brand new silkscreen satirizing them. You can find anything from homemade soap (Did Tyler Durden make this shit?) to flying Spaghetti Monsters. The staff is super friendly. One night I was in there talking to the guy working the counter who was kicking back some Jim Beam on the job. I walked out with the Free Saddam! shirt I had purchased and a nice buzz from a couple shots on the house. read more

My dad bought the shirt that says, in glow-in-the-dark, "Pluto: Never Forget." He and my mom thought it was hee-larious and rushed right in to buy it. It was funny cause my dad doesn't even really wear tee shirts, only polos. I guess that's the kind of draw Y-Que Trading Post has on people. The great unifier. I like the neighborhood shirts too. A Los Feliz institution. First of all the owner is cool as beans. He prints his own t-shirts, bags, etc. with the names of L.A. neighborhoods (Silver Lake, Atwater) so you are guaranteed to get something specific, original and very, very L.A. It actually saddens me to see people shopping the cheapo novelty stores on Hollywood Blvd. when they could get something so much more distinctive here. And they have a whole lot of $5-$10 clever little novelty gifts (i.e. "grow your own boyfriend" kit) to toss in as well. Awesome place! read more

Quirky, different and definitely gives an Anti-Culture vibe which I embrace with open arms. Hands down, this store rocks. I'm not even into knick-knacky stuff, but if you bypass the front of the store and go directly to the t-shirts I promise you won't be disappointed. I admit it. I'm a t-shirt junkie. And this place is like crack. It's definitely got the hollywood hipster vibe going for it which simultaneously annoys me and compels me (they're so much cooler than I am... er, kEwLeR). But the shirts are great overall. Some are kinda stupid and annoying and some are pure genius. Plus, they're comfy and relatively cheap. And you get them rolled up and packed in a paper popcorn bag or something equally kitschy. The store offers lots of souvenirs and gifts. It in also wS a pleasure to look trough gently used books on sale for just a couple of dollars. And in my opinion it is even better to have a book that was read before you, a book that has outlines and marks on the pages. Be sure to also check out their regional shirts, which cleverly capture the spirit and essence of Silverlake, Echo Park, North Hollywood and other surrounding areas. The Owner is a really cool dude and friendly. He'll give you a deal if you buy a bunch of stuff! :-) They also have a custom-made service, in which you can combine designs onto different garment materials. If there was a "0" star, they would get it! I ordered a couple shirts for my autistic brother for his birthday. At 1.5 weeks out I got an email saying they had been shipped. 2.5 weeks followed, no shirts. I started calling customer service and no one answered- for a week. I went in the store and left my contact info for the manager around week 3, no one called back. I kept calling the services line until someone answered around week 4. This was the conversation: Me: I ordered some shirts a month ago and they still haven't arrived. Guy (I think, Rob): What was your order? Me: (gives order number) Guy: No, no, no.. can you describe what you ordered? Me: Um, sure.. they were animal shirts. Guy: Oh yeah, those, um, yeah, I had some problems with the machine, they should go out today. Me: What? Today? I had an email saying they'd been fed-exd several weeks ago... don't you let people know when their order is going to be late? You missed my brother's birthday by almost a month now. Guy: Would you like me to cancel that order, then? Me: (In shock that he didn't even offer any sort of apology) Yes, I guess I would. Guy: Ok, Bye! Not ok. Not even close to ok. I will support smaller businesses any day of the week, but if this is the quality of experience they offer their customers, then I will be the first to do my part in seeing they shape up FAST or go out of business even faster. Y-Que has provided me with much amusement (and a great time for Chrismas shopping) every year for over a decade. I've always loved this wacky little shop in Los Feliz with their odd items and their extensive selection of house-screen-printed T-shirts. This place is sort of like Aah's or Spencer's, but wayyy cooler. Some shirts are cute, some are just plain hilarious. They definitely make great gifts. Need a pair of ironic hipster sun glasses? Every time I come to Los Angeles, I always visit this place because they print really awesome t-shirts. You can get a Thunderbird, a Distoration Pedal, a Cat, or a Gun printed t-shirt. They also have funny gifts and accessories too! The worst customer service ever. The voicemail is ALWAYS full. No one ever answers the phone. No one calls you back. No one emails you back. I ordered my shirt and got an email the next day saying the shirt was shipped. 4-6 days later still no shirt. I call them & email them wondering where the shirt is. No response so I filed a claim with eBay to get my money back since the company doesn't seem to want to deal with customers. read more

Horrible! WARNING! I ordered shirts from this merchant online and they never shipped it. I waited for a week before inquiring about my order and they said that they forgot to send it and would send it ASAP. Another weeks goes by and the same thing again. They said they "forgot". So now another week passes and still nothing. No response to further inquiries or Emails. This is ridiculous. They charged me but never actually shipped my order. It's has been ONE MONTH and a HALF now. They haven't even updated me on my order. I am complaining now to my bank and hopefully they can yank my refund out of this shady merchant. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MERCHANT. THEY DID NOT SHIP MY ORDER AND 1.5 MONTHS HAS PASSED WITHOUT ANY UPDATE OR REFUND. read more
