While visiting Panther Creek Brews there was a non-descript food truck there with a hand-written…read moremenu. I took a look at the menu and it didn't really resemble what most food trucks offer. The offerings indicated someone who cooked using a bit of flair and looked like they knew how to enhance a dish with sauces. I selected the Rosemary Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas. Now these are not like any quesadilla I've had as a "appetizer" at many restaurants, this was a creative melding of intricate flavors into a quasi-soft shell taco/quesadilla. The grilled chicken had great flavor and the bacon and ranch really complemented the quesadilla. The tortilla was perfect, slightly crisp, and held the entire quesadilla together and didn't fall apart after the first bite. To top it all off...I got to meet the owners/operators Frankie and Tony Wong. This couple works hard, serve up great food, and are really fun to talk to. Highly recommend you like and subscribe to their FB Page. Their menu is a dry erase board and changes daily, I can't wait to see what special item they will create next. https://www.facebook.com/Myrootsfoodtruck

This food truck stopped by today for lunch so I went out and grabbed a bite. It was pretty good and…read moredefinitely large portions! The TRIPLE LAYER TOMATO AND BASIL GRILLED CHEESE ON SOURDOUGH was delish! Soft, with a crunchy outside and surprisingly not too much bread. A good amount of cheese and flavor. I'd definitely recommend. CRINKLE CUT FRIES were over cooked. I'm sad to say I didn't even finish them, which is rare for me since this cut of fries is my absolute favorite! Just too crunch and the flavor was heavy on the oil, rather than potato. Total cost was $9 before tip, which made it one of the least expensive items on the truck. Customer service was professional. Food was made quickly and from order. Pretty good, IMO.

Several years ago, I was really into Jerk Chicken. It seems there are as many variations on Jerk as…read morethere are chefs on the island and here in the USA. Perhaps most folks' experiences are when they order Jerk Chicken Wings. I will explain the difference, talk about the value, the service and ambiance. In regards to my experience with Jerk, and no, I'm not Jamaican nor have I been to the island. I am simply an old white man who likes this dish. Most restaurant chicken wing dishes are a dusting of a jerk seasoning powder mix. While tasty, it is not what I think of as Jerk. I've tried several commercially available Jerk marinades and while good, they are not the offering in this restaurant. I've also made my own from scratch and even that was different. So, you may what to know after explaining what it is NOT, you are waiting for what it WAS. First off, it was moist and tender, which is very good. The Jerk was a nice chocolate brown gravy that coated the meat wonderfully. Several pieces were served and it was a nice portion. Spice level was on the mild side but there was a bottle of a Scotch Bonnet sauce you could add of the kick. Two sides come with your meal and I chose Seasoned Rice and Macaroni and Cheese. The Macaroni and Cheese was nice, not to clumpy and not too watery. My wife had to help me identify what was in the rice. It was sweet and had a nice taste from what we decided was an all around seasoning blend. Portion size for the rice was too big - enough for four people. When my adult son saw the menu, he felt it was too expensive, but compared to other meals, it came out fine. Service and ambiance go together here. From the moment you walk in, the lady behind the counter is your first encounter with Jamaican culture. She was very welcoming and patient as she explained the food, when I had questions. Overall, the place was clean and the windows gave an open air to them. One drawback was that the food was served in Styrofoam clam-shells with plastic utensils. Real plates and utensils would be better for a dine-in restaurant.

The food is always great on every visit, and the wait time is never bad. The wings alone are…read moredelish! Highly recommended.
