I was so surprised at how good this food was! Highly recommend this place anytime you crave Mediterranean fare. We don't eat meat, so we ordered the Vegetarian Plate, the Falafel plate and the Foule Mudammas. The Hummus, baba ghanoush (made with eggplant), tabbouleh (salad) and grape leaves were far superior to similar restaurants and might be better than anywhere else in Fresno and the Falafels were better than any I've ever eaten. The owner, who also took my order, was SUPER friendly and patient with me. The restaurant itself is open and clean and bright. I did take my order to-go and it took an acceptable amount of time to prepare and it traveled well. We have already returned! Loved it! read more

An instant favorite! I had the chicken shawarma bowl and I can't wait for my next visit. It might be my favorite shawarma in town. My husband got the tandoori chicken plate and it was also amazing. The gentleman working gave us each of their four sauces to try and each one was absolutely delicious. For me, a great Mediterranean restaurant has to have great garlic sauce and great hummus and Yafa delivered on both. Great service, great atmosphere, and absolutely impeccable food. I love the tandoori chicken bowl! I usually go to Phoenician Garden, but since I've tried this place I been going here instead.

The Yafa Grill is a new gem on the Fresno dining scene. Lunch here today was a delight. We were greeted warmly when we walked in and were able to order quickly. The inside was clean and attractive, the booths comfortable and spacious. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate and my son had the Chicken Kabob. On both, the chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned, served in a generous portion that astonished me when our plates were brought to our table. The rice was delicious, with a hint of clove that took it to the next level, and the salad, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and olives was a nice complement to the chicken. Pita and hummus are included with the plate; the hummus was as good as the chicken and rice, freshly-made and creamy, perfect for dipping with a bite of chicken or by itself. We will definitely be back to Yafa Grill and putting it at the top of our DoorDash list! read more

The hummus was good but slightly overpowered the beef shawarma, while the chicken shawarma with fries and special sauce was just perfect. I found this place based on a yelp search in the area. I did some cycling in the woodland park area nearby, and I was hungry for something substantial. As soon as I saw the lamb chops on the menu, I knew that this was what I wanted to order. The young man working at the counter was very friendly and attentive. Although it was my first time here, I knew that I was in the right place. The restaurant itself is very lovely and attractive. A lot of thought and care went into putting in stone floors and granite tables. There are large, comfortable booths that are perfect for families of four to six people to enjoy. The lamb that I ordered was cooked to perfection, right in between medium rare and medium, moist and flavorful. I smothered them in homemade garlic sauce, which was perfect. The lamb is served with rice, salad, bell peppers, hummus, pita bread. It is a perfect meal at such a reasonable price. They do have some Tempting desserts but I was too full to try them. I noticed a guy who came in and was picking up his order to go. And as he was standing there, there was another family who came in and he smiled at them and asked them if they had eaten here before? And he let them know that the food here was sensational. Based on what he was saying to the family, I get the impression that he eats here quite a bit. He was recommending the falafel plate and although I typically like to order meat, I will try that next time. I will keep this play on my list to come back to whenever I visit Fresno. read more

I really wanted to like this place and the food was good quality, I just didn't care for the combination of spices they used on the rice and chicken, there were large spice pods in the rice, the flavor was nutmeg or cardamom or something similar, but it was overwhelming and I felt it masked the taste of the food instead of enhancing it. Service and ambience was top notch as well as the food quality, my problem was the spices. I've had lots of middle eastern food but I've not encountered these flavors in abundance before. Food is great most of the time and my favorite is the lamb chops dinner. I tried the lamb shwarma but for some reason, it was a bit on the dry side so the next time I ordered I stuck with the delicious lamb chops dinner plate. Our family and I always order to go but there are nice high-back booths to sit down to eat if you wanted to dine in but seating is limited. I ordered garlic sauce, and paid more for it, but they didn't put any garlic sauce on my bowl, just gave me my side I paid more for. The reddish sauce tasted like foster freezes special sauce. The guy who took my order was super nice and made some suggestions. I got the chicken kabob plate in the lunch size. It came with salad, hummus, rice and a huge pita piece. I also ordered the stuffed grape leaves. They also have garlic sauce and a spicy sauce. The garlic sauce was pure garlic! Not sure why another reviewer said it tasted like mayonnaise when there is no mayo in it? The food was soooooo good! Amazing food! Was in Fresno for work for a couple days, this place was so good that I came back the next day. First day I had the hummus, falafel, and chicken shawarma. All of it was incredible. The falafel is so fresh and reminds me of the falafel back in Palestine. The hummus is incredible and the shawarma was full of flavor.
