Wanted hibachi for dinner and went here for the first time! I ordered pickup and was ready within 10 minutes. I like that it was fast service. I ordered the teriyaki steak with fried rice and all of the vegetables that came with it. It came with a side of sweet carrots and choice of rice or noodles. For roughly $16-17 I would say you get a good portion of food that was loaded in the box. It comes with a larger container of yum yum sauce which is a plus for sauce lovers; compared to other side sauces from other restaurants. I liked that the vegetables were cooked fresh however the sweet carrots were slightly hard. I like them sweet and soft, but that's just a personal preference. I asked for medium rare steak but of course I knew that it would be well done. That is of most hibachi places I go to. read more

I came to this restaurant for lunch and ordered the jumbo shrimp with broccoli and zucchini. I specifically asked (and paid) for extra broccoli and zucchini -- what I got was 4 sad pieces of broccoli without florets and barely any zucchini. It felt like they were scraping the bottom of the pan. The fried rice that came with it was cold and super mushy, like it had been sitting out for a while. Definitely not fresh. To top it off, when I walked in, no one greeted me -- and I was literally the only person in the restaurant. It wasn't busy at all, so there was no excuse for the lack of basic hospitality. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp with half plain fried rice, half noodles, plus broccoli, zucchini, and sweet carrots (skipped the onions and mushrooms). Everything was cooked perfectly--flavorful, fresh, and super satisfying. The portion was generous, so I have leftovers for dinner, which is always a win! I don't understand what's going on with the reviews for this restaurant. It seems like it's almost being spammed by negative reviews that are like bots or not real people. Because this place is incredible. Easily one of the best options for hibachi in the Uptown Charlotte area. Only complaint is price but then when you realize based on the insanely good portion size that it will inevitably be 2 meals it doesn't matter at all. When you can't figure out what you want to eat Hibachi is always a great choice! At 8:00pm when I called their phone number, I reached a weird message stating "please enter your area code"; and made it impossible to place my order before I arrived. I was worried I wouldn't be getting this hibachi that my mouth was set for because it states they stop take out orders at 8:30. When I arrive at 8:34pm I was able to place my order and get my food quickly! Everything from the sweet carrots, rice, veggies, noodles, chicken and shrimp were all delicious. I recommend getting a side of the teriyaki sauce because it's really good! I can't believe I didn't know about this spot for so long, but now that I tasted it I can't forget. read more

Decided to try this place out after seeing the posts on Instagram, each time making my Mouth water! Went on a weekday for a late lunch, ordering was super easy, young lady at the register was very friendly. The seating area is simple BUT clean! Our order came out very quickly, and was ABSOLUTELY everything my taste buds imagined. Their soup of the day was very flavorful. Portion sizes were terrible. I paid $18 and barely received any steak or food overall. The plate looked decent at first glance, but once I started eating, it was clear the portions didn't match the price. The steak was sparse, the sides were minimal, and I left still hungry. For what's being charged, I expected a filling, well-balanced meal. Unfortunately, the value just isn't there, and I wouldn't order again unless portions improve significantly. Fulfilling hibachi meal. Haven't been here in awhile and it's still as good. It was a saltier than I would liked it's but the everything else was great. Carrots still sweet and amazing and portion size still big enough for me to get two meals out of. Went by here at 9:00 on a Friday night and paid $20 to park, thinking they'd be open. The hours on the website, yelp, and google, all say that they close at 9:55-10. At 9:00 on the dot they have all chairs on the table and are cleaning. Open sign off. Terrible business if you aren't open when you say. Do better. My perpetual search for great Hibachi led me to Yakiko. I was not disappointed. I like the fact that you can customize your veggies and rice - a lot of places just have their set "meal" where you get carrots, rice, and a veg... PRO TIP: they ask you if you want carrots - say yes! The carrots here are not overly sweet (like a lot of other places). The carrots also have a texture instead of some mushy (baby-food-like) carrots I've had at other places. Shows that this place pays attention to the details. My first go, I went with chicken and there are big chunks of it given to you along with a generous portion of sauce. Went with zucchini for my veg and was super delighted by the entire meal. My only ding for this place is the parking situation, but the parking deck (10min free) parking made it easy in and out - however my anxiety starts peaking when I park and see there is a line (even if I call ahead). Looks like uber eats, door dash, etc park in the middle of Trade near the median! which seems a little weird. I guess during pandemic times, there should be less traffic, but on a road that leads directly to the center of Charlotte, I don't think this would be manageable during peak traffic times. read more

Been driving by this place for years. Finally decided to give it a try. I love Hibachi. Ordered carry out. Guy at the counter was very pleasant. Decent dining area with a few tables and chairs. I ordered the salmon and chicken combo tray with all veggies and Fried rice. Veggies, rice and chicken were decent. Chicken was a bit over seasoned. But let's get to the salmon. I was unaware that salmon jerky was a thing until now. Let me tell you.... They cooked the Fu@k outta this piece of salmon. It was tougher than the chicken. It was extremely dry and had very little flavor. Ended up spending around $25. I don't mind spending $25 on carry out for myself if it's good. I don't really feel like I got my moneys worth here. So, after seeing some reviews on Yelp I bookmarked Yakiko and had the craving recently and ordered delivery. Yakiko definitely delivered, even via delivery. I selected the You Pick Two Hibachi dinner and loved the fact you can customize your veggies and rice. I selected Shrimp and Filet (an upcharge) with Fried Rice and Carrots, Broccoli and Onion. The order arrived on time and was still piping hot. The shrimp and filet were cooked perfectly and I loved that there was a generous amount of veggies and rice. The secret sauce is also a nice treat. So incredibly satisfied!!! Hibachi is an all time favorite for my husband and I, but I never imagined I'd find a great place for Hibachi to-go! If you are in the Charlotte downtown area you Must try this place! During my visit I was in the company of a few locals that were frequent visitors. They were so pleasantly welcomed by the girl at the window, as was I. Great service is such a great motivator for people to return, so this was fantastic to see! I've included a picture of the menu, and as you can see they will soon be adding beer and sake to their drink options. For now, they have bottled and fountain soda and water. The inside of this building offers great artwork, and a few tables in case you decide to stay and dine indoors. There is also a to-go window which was very convenient, but it was quite warm outside with no place to sit... so this is better utilized if it is full inside or if you drove and curb parked. Food takes about 15-20 minutes to prepare (depending on how busy they are). So on to the main event.... The food!!!! Delicious!!! I highly recommend the Yaki Double with Shrimp + Filet Mignon, Fried Rice, and All the Veggies! I also highly recommend getting a side of the steak sauce to go with the Yaki sauce they give you. It is a ginger steak sauce and enhanced everything. The meat was well seasoned as were the shrimp. The sweet carrots provided a nice sweet treat. I went ahead and ordered the Soup and Spring Roll, great decision!!! The soup was wonderful and the spring roll was fresh and not overly oily. Each was only a dollar and well worth it!! I've seriously been searching for a good Hibachi place since I moved to Charlotte 2.5 years ago. Im from Salisbury where we have Katana, Tokyo Express & Ichibans! All of those places set such a high standard when it comes to hibachi. In Charlotte I've tried Red Ginger, Kabuto & a couple of other spots but it's never come close to the options in Salisbury. My partner and I ordered 2 egg rolls, chicken hibachi with all vegetables & carrots. Delicious. Idk who is cooking in the kitchen but they need a RAISE. They seasoned it perfectly (a lot of hibachi places use very little seasoning.) Even the inside of the egg roll was seasoned beautifully. The portions of the kitchen were *chefs kiss* It was seriously so much food & I gobbled it down before being able to take a picture! I've ordered through Postmates three times because I have a lot of anxiety parking in that area (I live .9 miles away) but I really want to try to go in the next few days to see if it's fresher/better! Overall, I'm so delighted that we have such an amazing option in uptown! I cannot wait to try more options here & especially excited for the Sake! I'm a sucker for good hibachi! And Yakiko has me hooked. It doesn't help that they are super close to where I live so all I have to do is order pick up on the Yelp app and it's ready in about 10 to 20 minutes. Their food is fresh, fast and flavorful and I love it! They have a pick up window if you don't want to go inside and they do not allow for indoor seating but they do have seating for while you're waiting for your food. Covid precautions are in full effect here, which is always wonderful to see. Every time I go I get the hibachi noodles with teriyaki sauce, add shrimp and/or steak (if I'm feeling fancy) and it never disappoints! I recently tried the veggie dumplings and now I'm hooked on that too. This is a quick go to meal that's always delicious and I am proud to be a regular LOL. I was the 1st customer at the shop. I ordered the combo with filet and shrimp, carrots and broccoli, fried rice and hibachi sauce. The hibachi sauce is not a sauce, it is straight soy sauce and is inedible. There is no ginger or garlic flavor, just salt. The carrots are from a can. The broccoli was limp and flavorless. The "fried rice" is their version of fried rice the woman told me. It has none of the quality or flavor of fried rice. I ate the shrimp and filet bc they weren't doused in straight soy sauce, and put the rest in the trash. If you don't have high blood pressure yet, you will if you consume the salt bomb this places offers. Not good, not good at all. read more

The service is great. But the food switches taste almost everyday. I went in last week to get the chicken tray, grilled extra crispy. It was perfect the chicken wasn't hard to chew and the rice and noodles tasted great as well. Went in this week got the total opposite chicken was hard like dried out type. And the rice and noddles had a lot of pepper thrown on top. And that was all I tasted was pepper and dry chicken. So they have their good days and bad days. read more

Was in the area running some errands and my boyfriend had some time before a work meeting. He biked from his office (S Tryon St), I was able to park right out front. Received the same fast and friendly service I got my first visit. Since NC is still in phase 2, only the To-Go window is operating. Got the chance to speak to the owner, who says their Grand Opening has been pushed back (for obvious reasons) Just a reminder how important it is to support local small businesses during this time! I ordered the Filet Mignon this time and you can really taste the quality! Easy to chew and was not tough. There is a difference in the meat cuts compared to the standard habachi. The fried rice is very light, not heavy or overly oily. I didn't mention it in my first review - but they ask you if you want the sweet carrots on the side when you order...Say YES to the carrots! The carrots are really savory - not overly sweet/soggy. Perfect consistency and buttery. Can't wait until we get through the phases and Yakiko gets to shine as a community staple! P.S. Due to our raving, my boyfriends company's HR already plans to order Yakiko for the company meeting (once they are no longer remote 100%) - A good way to show support to small family businesses!! read more

I've been going to this place since they first opened in the middle of the pandamic and it obvious how they survived being in an area that is usually alot more busy, its because the food is good! First the flavor! I've had other hibachi express places and the flavor is not there! But this place has the hibachi and teriyaki flavor down packed! And OMG the sweet carrots are the best! The portions are pretty good for the price. Hibachi can be expensive and I feel that they price accordingly! They are always nice, friendly and fast! The food is good, but it's not enough for the price. I ordered the shrimp and chicken and only got 3 pieces of shrimp. They also forgot my Yaki sauce (I'm a sauce girl so that means a lot). The food was terrible; onions were burnt and the rice was mushy. The texture of the steak was chewy.

I'm a culinary student at JWU and this was not giving what it supposed to give. The rice was lacking flavor. Maybe garlic butter I don't know but it distasteful. My shrimp was decent but then I bit into the steak and it was raw. I could've died like WTF.
