Chicken lo mein plus shrimp, just horrible
    Tony S.

I purchased a chicken lo mein the rice taste like it's been boiled with no flavor lightly with soy sauce noodles over boiled. Definitely not the kind of Chinese. I'm used to totally water down fast cooking.

    Crab Rangoon

This is my third time ordering from this place and it hits the spot everytime! All the ingredients are FRESH, you can just tell once you take a bite! Crab Rangoon has the right amount of sweetness, cheese and crunchiness. Beef Thai basil is hands down my favorite, beef is so tender that you could have told me it was filet. I called ahead and placed my order so the service was quick and easy. The atmosphere is very clean and tidy. I will definitely be back!

Shrimp w Lobster Sauce & Fried Rice
    Elizabeth M.

So I'm originally from PA. We had a Chinese restaurant chain that had fantastic food. So far in Florida we haven't found anything fantastic. Yan Kitchen is pretty close. In the late afternoon I stopped in for lunch takeout. Only a 10 minute wait. Not the kind of place to dine inside. They only have 3 tables. I ordered the Krab Rangoons. Those little fried pockets of deliciousness were amazing. The Wonton Soup tasted a little like the plastic container, but once we stirred it up & added some salt, we were happy with the taste. The Egg Roll was crispy on the outside and had wonderful flavor. I would love to see more filling inside. I ordered the lunch special of Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The container was filled with the shrimp with lobster sauce & the fried rice. There were 4 nice size shrimps in the sauce. The shrimp tasted delicious but one end of each piece was mushy. The Lobster sauce was perfection. Not gummy and not watery. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was a hit. I also ordered the lunch special of General Tso's Chicken. The container was heavy as it was filled with the chicken and the fried rice. Now isn't this supposed to be spicy? There was no heat to the sauce. This was disappointing as we expected some spice. The meal was good and flavorful, but lacked that punch. The sauce was more of a sweet & sour flavor. Both platters come with Fried Rice. The Fried Rice was bland and had no flavor. It looked like white rice with a tiny bit of brown sauce added to made it looked fried. The rice did have a plentiful amount of peas, pork, onion & carrots. We added some Soy Sauce and butter to the rice to give it some flavor but It just didn't help. We'll never get their Fried Rice again. Overall we're going to avoid what we don't like of theirs & try some other dishes.

Is the shrimp in lobster sauce prepared in a brown sauce or New York style white sauce which I hate?

NY 'where, clear sauce"... If you ask them, they might be able to accommodate you.

I love Dry Dock Waterfront Grill and I always visit when I am in the Sarasota area. Dry Dock is always busy so I am also sure to make a reservation in advance using Open Table. Typically we sit inside but I know the back patio is popular too. If your timing and patience is perfect, you can also get a nice a nice window seat in the dining room that has sweeping views of Sarasota Bay. The inside atmosphere is bright and airy and although airy often translates to loud, Dry Dock thoughtfully put noise dampening panels on the ceiling. As far as food, I don't think you can go wrong. I always get something with grouper whether it be an entree, sandwich or tacos. On my most recent visit I got the grouper filet with coconut shrimp because I had originally been eyeing up the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Ultimately, we decided to get the rock crab claws for an appetizer which were good but more work than I planned even though they were pre-cracked. I felt like a Neanderthal trying to eat those crab claws in such a nice restaurant. No offense to the Neanderthals, of course! I have no idea what my husband had as it disappeared. After entrees, apps and bread, we were too stuffed for dessert. I think our server was Cari and she was awesome! Attentive, friendly, funny and quite possibly a mind reader and magician. She saw the hanger in my eyes and made bread magically appear. I hope I got her name correct because she was superb! Shout out to all of the great staff members at Dry Dock -we've never had a bad experience. I love Dry Dock and it will forever stay in my Sarasota rotation.

I had the snapper. It was fresh and not fishy at all, but unfortunately a little overcooked and slightly dry. I always wonder why restaurants tend to overcook fish because it can be so amazing when done just right. We finished with key lime pie for dessert, which was delicious, although the slice was on the smaller side. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. The prices felt a bit high, but honestly, that seems to be the norm at many restaurants these days.

We ordered the shot honey grouper sandwich, bang bang shrimp fries, fried shrimp and grouper bites. Three were weekend specials for $9.99. That price and quality cannot be beat! The hot honey grouper was awesome. Very nice filet of grouper with hot honey on it. Sweet, spicy and freshly cooked. 10/10. Fries were freshly fried and had a nice seasoning. Great meal. My son had the grilled grouper bites. They were cooked perfectly and he devoured them. 2 thumbs up! Other son had the shrimp basket. Fried shrimp were juicy and crispy. Not over battered. Great taste and another 2 thumbs up. Bang bang shrimp fries were really good. Not hot but had great flavor. Fries had a ton of bacon and that yummy sauce drizzled over them. Would get again. 9/10. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Nice outdoor area with about 6 tables. Service was friendly and quick. Price was great for fresh seafood. We drove about 30 minutes and it was worth the drive!

The side red potatoes were a step up from coleslaw. We also tried the lobster roll on an earlier visit. It was bland to OK, but definitely not a price performer. We absolutely love the Ruskin Seafood Market for fresh fish. Very good selection and I guess ultimately we prefer to fix our own seafood.

The shop is located in a shopping mall so there is plenty of parking. The shop is made for lunch. It is small and there is seating inside and out its not meant for a very large party. On a positive note, they have a multitude of seafood sandwiches and lunch options to enjoy a nice meal. I saw photos of lobster rolls on yelp, so I got the lobster roll. It was so good. Packed with lobster and the bread was delicious. My son and husband got the red snapper sandwich blackened with fries. We were also able to try their clam chowder (delicious) as well as their key lime pie (i am unsure if it's made there but it was very good). The cashier was sweet. The staff made sure that we were happy with the food and for a small cafe I can't ask for anything else. Great lunch spot especially if you want a feel for the keys or some delicious seafood.

We also tried the soups, including the New England clam chowder and lobster bisque, and both were excellent. Unfortunately, I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich and asked for it seared, but it was way overcooked. The tuna was cooked all the way through (brown throughout) and very dry. Next time I come back, I will not be getting the tuna, but definitely the lobster roll. I should of known better, based on the name of the restaurant, but I decided against my better judgement.
