I purchased a pellet stove from Yankee Fireplace last fall. When it arrived it wouldn't light, there was an issue with the igniter. This spring, the stove stopped working and Yankee Fireplace sent someone to repair it. The auger was jammed. The technician was here for 2 hours to resolve the jam and I was charged $600 ($300 p/h), a quarter of the cost of the stove. The stove was under a 1 year parts & labor warranty, Yankee Fireplace did not honor this. And I learned after the fact that Yankee Fireplace does not service pellet stoves, which is likely the reason it took the technician 2 hours to resolve the blockage. I had the stove's end of season service this spring with someone who works on pellets stoves and he advised me that it takes little time to unblock a jammed auger (definitely not more than an hour) and that his charge for a service call would have been $165 for the hour. I reached out to the owner of Yankee Fireplace about all of the above, questioning the warranty, the fee and the time to fix it, he has been rude and dismissive. The people who installed my gas fireplace were wonderful. This is not a negative review on them. This is a negative review on management. After spending thousands of dollars with Yankee Fireplace Grill and Patio, I contacted them after approximately a year with my fireplace. The remote stopped working and I learned from the manual that two sets of batteries needed to be changed from time to time depending on usage. I successfully changed the batteries but for the life of me I could not get the glass cover replaced. When I called the office, I was told that someone was in my neighborhood. Great! I told them that I needed to go to a work appointment but that I would leave my door unlocked. Happily the cover was replace. A few weeks later I received a bill for $99.50. I really believe that some nice customer service would have gone a long way here in being able to recommend them in the future. read more

I went to Yankee Fireplace expecting good service and Harry did not disappoint. Knowing nothing about gas "wood" stoves, I only knew I wanted a Vermont Castings model. Harry showed us the stoves on the floor and brochures with other models and colors. He asked good questions about placement and rooms in our house to determine what could work for us. We changed our minds several times about the stove size, color, venting options and Harry patiently emailed proposal after proposal. The one hiccup we had was the day before the installation we got a call saying our stove was back ordered and no idea when one would be delivered to the store. Obviously someone must have known sooner than the day before and now we were being told!!?? We had arranged to take the day off from work, moved furniture and rugs, and were ready to go. Four weeks later with some nagging from us, we had a seamless installation. Everyone from the sales, site visit and installer were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I recently went in to make an appointment for my fireplaces due to not lighting after gas company replaced my meter. I received a text from them saying we can come out in about 6 weeks February 29 2024. I went to speak to someone at the register and explained that I use them for heat and a repeating customer If I could get an earlier date. Terrible company, do not buy your fireplace unit here. They demand payment in full up front months before you receive the product or have anything installed. They called every week for payment, again months before my masonry work on the fireplace unit was to be completed. I cancelled my order as I was annoyed with them calling me every week. I had paid a deposit of half the full amount up front and then was charged a 20% cancellation fee on products and services that I never received. Horrible business practices! read more

A one-star review is too much. My next communication is with Lynx, the product manufacturer. Five interactions with this vendor were all bad...no, actually one was good the other four were horrible. Here are my favs: 1. You have to leave a message because they almost never answer the phone. Recording says something similar to 'if we don't call you back in 48 hours, call us back'. Really? 2. The service tech was a no-show in the window scheduled. I left a note for him/her. Called the store eventually and they said he was there. He tried to call you but we gave him the wrong number and we never thought of giving him the right number. 3. Three weeks later, I call back to determine the status of parts on order. I grumbled gently at first stating I was hoping for better service for the thousands I spent on the grill and accessories. The response, "a lot of people spend a lot of money on things, you just have to deal with the wait". I was told by my propane company tech that. I had a leak in the fireplace. I found that odd but felt I should have it checked...it took me three tries to receive a response from yankee,s online , only way, to receive service..on the third attempt I received an email stating a date and time for service...no options either take or leave it....I took it. No indication of how much service is! The fellow arrived today....very pleasant, neat , and was knowledgeable....I told him I did not there was a leak ...after searching when I told him I figured there was no leak he said he could discontinue at that time...however, because I wanted to be absolutely sure I gave the ok to continue...he then proceeded to do a very thorough job of cleaning the unit....almost two hours later he presented me with the bill 229 per hr discounted from 239......shock was the word...I believe in paying for service but I always believe I knowing the hourly rate prior to committing. Wow my accountant charges $250 an hour, my dentist $150....this company is outrageous....the technician did his job, it is the company who should be held responsible for taking advantage of a customer...I am tempted to dispute the charge on my credit card to show yankee fireplace they need to be more transparent in their charging. I would suggest the buyer beware in this case...sad, that small business is taking advantage of these trying times! read more

This is the most generous 4 stars ever delivered to a store. Not because anyone wanted to sell me something. Not because it took 15 minutes to acknowledge me; not because it was lunch time and I was in a bit of a rush; not because of price..........no it was because I got to play around with all the cool barbecue gadgets. This place has loads of neat out door grills ...the freaking Green Egg; big ass Webers and more; and loads of accessories. Back to simply the only reason they didn't wait on me finally after 30 minutes....it must be....no it couldn't....they can't be commissioned? I think the sales person just about died when he listened to how much I wanted to spend; how fast and no questions. Just get the freaking gift. After driving all around looking for new gas burners for our Weber grill, I was about to give up and order them online. Then I remembered seeing this place whenever we went to Richardson's Ice Cream, so I drove over there. The place was pretty nice inside, and the people were friendly. They had the parts I needed at MSRP, and there was a pretty big selection of other replacement parts for Weber and other brand grills; a lot bigger than Home Depot or Ace Hardware did. I could've gotten the parts a little cheaper online, but this place is only 15 minutes away. They also had outdoor patio stuff, a bunch of grills, and fireplaces, as the name suggests. read more

The customer service is non existent, but my main complaint is that they charge more than suggested retail for a lot of stuff. I wanted the Igrill3 system for my new weber grill which I didn't buy from them (they wanted $65 for assembly and $95 for delivery and I got free assembly and del from my local hardware store) and it is $99 retail on Weber's site and everywhere else and they charge $109 for it! The sales part went very well. The prices are retail and honestly I am OK with that. I was not bargain shopping I wanted to pay a fair price and get a good product and have a company that stood behind the install and product. The reasons for the poor review are: 1) The initial installation was done very poorly. In fact it was dangerous. I brought it to their attention and the installers did come back and fix things. It does make me wonder how other installations are done were customers don't know about what is right and wrong in construction. 2) The sales person charged us for upgraded parts that we are still waiting for over a month later. 3) The other fireplace had a broken part. It took them over a week to get a replacement part. The new part was broken. They got the new part in but we are still waiting for the parts for the other fireplace to arrive to see if they can fix it this time. 4) This is my biggest issue. They charged me not only for the product before they arrived but also the entirety of the installation. I have no option now but to work with them as they have been paid for a job up front. 1 month after start things are still not correct. Communication has been awful from the service department and no better from the store manager. I tried to call up my sales person and she could care less what we are going through she already got her sale. 5) Work was not cleaned up after they were done. There are still ceiling tiles that are removed in the basement. There is part of the ceiling grid that is damaged. I have to repaint a wall because they scratched it. Windows were left opened on a day it rained (after they left). The list of issues it insane. So we are $17,000 dollars into this installation and we have one fireplace that does not work and one that does not have the correct parts. This from a company that knew we were going to be buying 3 or 4 more fireplaces! I can guarantee you that some of the positive reviews below are written by employees of the company. I think eventually they will get it all corrected but if you are going to charge your customers up front like that then you better know how to run your company better then that, and every aspect of the job should be perfect or you need to communicate with your customer to let them know what is going on. I have to beg for them to call me back and when they do most of the time they do not have answers for me. My previous purchase was with Buchanan was better. The only reason that I did not go with Buchanan on this one was that they did not have the manufacturer that we wanted. Wish we had changed to a different manufacture at this point. I am now updating this review. I have finally had all the things repaired that I wanted. Everything is up and running. It was a battle and I had to stay on top of them but they did finally install everything that we paid for. The salesperson I had, when I was ready to ask for information, was so darn informative that I felt that I had attended a seminar on them when she finished. I was stunned how knowledgeable and how she knew what questions to ask to this fireplace novice. Trust me, if you don't know anything about propane installations, venting etc etc. this can be a scary and expensive process if you don't have the right professionals to guide you. TRUST ME you have them at Yankee. Now take it to the installation phase. Another extraordinary experience! Prompt, clean and more professionals. Our fireplace is in and just wonderful ....thanks to Yankee Fireplace in Middleton. OH and as a side note. We bought a gas stainless steel barbecue by Lynx 10 years ago from Yankee. I've purchased several patio and stove-related items from Yankee over the last 4 years. This spring I noticed it was time for a new drip tray for my grill. Instead of purchasing directly from the manufacturer, I opted to drive to Yankee and purchase from them, as I like to support local businesses. Ultimately they had to order the part. I paid upfront that day and was told it would take about 3 weeks for the part to come in from the manufacturer - good so far. 4 weeks from my purchase date with no part and no calls from Yankee I start calling to inquire. The best they can do is blame the manufacturer and tell me they don't know when parts are coming in, but its probably "next week". 6 weeks from my purchase date we get a voicemail alerting us that the part will arrive on a specific day and we can pick up anytime from then on. I spent my lunch break today driving to pick up the part that supposedly arrived 4 business days ago, per their voicemail to me. Turns out they don't have the part yet. Hardly an apology is issued and a lot more blaming the manufacturer again. Dear Yankee: 1. Set Proper expectations when someone purchase something from you 2. Don't tell a customer their part has arrived when it hasn't 3. Apologize if you make that mistake 4. Ask how you can help or make the scenario better 5.
