Don't believe the hype, this place is terrible. We were drawn to this place by the amazing Instagram posts and the shoulder massages and live DJ vibes but when we got here the store was different. Yes, the interiors are cool but not unique. I've seen the same lights and decor in some smaller restaurants around town and outside. Dimly lit may seem like a perfect date spot but at least have some light to read the menu. Maybe I'm getting old and my eyes are not as strong as they should be. 20/20 vision - not enough for this place. We had reservations for a Friday night dinner and when we got here, we were escorted to a table promptly. Once we got there we realized the place was boiling up ie no ventilation - zero! Our server did not show up for a good 10 mins so we asked the lady at the front of there was a better spot that was had some airflow. They tried to sit 4 of us on a table meant for two? Sadly we had to return back to our original table (luckily a table nearby was available which "felt" better). Mind you - no one from the staff acknowledged the lack of air or apologized for it being stuffy (so far). Slow service - probably due to shortage in wait staff but ok, we ordered drinks and food and then the ordeal began. Food took ages to come out. Our server apologized saying things were backed up as everyone ordered at the same time. Really everyone? We got the appetizer tower which included the potstickers, wontons, summer rolls and the Taro rolls. I think I've dined at a lot of places to safely claim that the food was very mediocre - actually lacking any real flavor ie bland. We got the crab wontons - but with the dressing on top we got some soggy friend wontons that were very unpleasant to eat. Bao bun - ok. Had better. Roti canai - this was ok, maybe the curry was a little too sweet but the fancy presentation wasn't worth it as the roti wasn't crispy, fluffy - more like dead piles of bread on the plate. We also got the Catch of the Day - it reads crispy whole fish but we got crispy fried balls of fish. Probably the best dish I had on the table (note the low bar here) but it wasn't worth the price IMO. We also got the Wagyu - but alas it was probably 50% fat - and by the time it came to the table the meat was already well done. No flavor and chewy meat - not good at all! We did get some other dishes but if you get my drift, it was not worth mentioning. I will say we had to wait a very long time for our food to come. Over 3 hours with probably 2 hours of wait for our food was just unacceptable. We asked our server and he had a good excuse for everything, busy night, everyone ordering at the same time, meat takes long to cook - yes ofcourse to overcook it, and the AC was another anomaly that day. This was the first time our server acknowledged the AC wasn't working. But it was just not our day. I'm sure this was all our luck! If you do decide to visit - please plan accordingly. 2 hours of free parking gets you only part of you food (and probably it will be overcooked and flavorless) if your luck is as good as ours. Note: after our complaints that day, the staff did comp a dish (due to the delay in service) but it won't change my review of this place. Yelpers - beware. This will be on my "never again" list! Wanted to respond to the business owner: If you can't take critique and acknowledge and accept the issues, it just shows the lack of professionalism. Your staff had excuses for everything. Next time inform patrons of the issues and ask them if they want to still continue to dine. We were not offered that, and I'm sorry but the table did not give us any airflow. The entire restaurant was stuffy. YES, a street buffet would have been a better dining experience than coming to Yao. Not worth the money and not worth the food. Not sorry.

Very pretty atmosphere. Service was nice. Food was also plated prettily. Crying tiger was good but a small piece given for the price. The chicken pad thai was not good at all, it was very fishy tasting. The butterfly pea coconut ice cream was good and very stretchy, it was probably the best item of the dinner. While the restaurant is beautiful, would not recommend this place for the food.

Roasted duck noodle. Meh. Skip. Mongolian beef. I never really like this and this was no exception. Wings. Sigh.

Argh!!! I was looking forward to this and left disappointed. Service was fine. Music was chill. Pretty interior. It was also over 90.00 for lunch for two people and I am still hungry and have a sodium headache. Idk. I would never return unless on someone else's dime and then I would still probably suggest that we try something different. Overpriced. Mid. Do not run here. Don't walk here either.

Awesome place and really love it !!!! One of the best Asian places with a great ambience, every nice atmosphere and the food was super amazing. Cashew Chicken with the pineapple base was one of the best dishes I have ever had ! The presentation along with the quality & quantity was simply unbeatable! Yang, the manager was very nice, courteous & helpful. We really enjoyed the visit and for sure, coming back again to one of the best Asian restaurants.

I was looking for a nice little restaurant to catch up with a friend over martini's. I came across Yao on TikTok. I made reservations and we were seated immediately upon arriving. The restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing. Great for a date or dinner with friends. They also had live music on this Saturday night. The artist preformed covers to some of the best top charted songs, which definitely enhanced the dining experience. THE DRINKS! Omg... these were some of the best martinis I've tasted. We had about three a piece ranging from a lychee martini, salted melon martini, and espresso martini. The salted melon, if that's the correct name, was by far the best! These well crafted cocktails really stood out from others in the community. Though we only went for drinks, we did order a few apps: lettuce wraps, crab wontons, calamari, and mussels. The lettuce wraps were so flavorful with a little kick! The crab filling in the wontons were good, but the wontons weren't crispy at all. No complaints with the calamari or mussels. Overall, very pleased with this dining experience. The parking garage was also easy to navigate. I would definitely return! Good job, Yao!!!

All that glitters is not gold. We came to Yao after seeing multiple social media posts for Father's Day dinner however left sorely disappointed after an expensive an unsatisfying dining experience. Yao is located in the perimeter mall area and has a private lot with two hours of free parking. Upon entering, the decor is really nice and they have an inhouse DJ playing music. Our server was also nice however not enough to compensate for the other lacking areas. There were several things which made the experience pretty disappointing for us. 1. Upon entering there was a musty smell which we attributed to having an open kitchen. Our party of four was promptly seated and what looked like a private dining area for larger groups. The room felt very hot and stuffy And the location of our original seats extremely so. We were relocated to a different area once we requested different seats, but even that was not much better. It was only much later through the dinner upon inquiring Why it was so hot we were informed that they had some cooling issues. However, no portable fans or other efforts were in place to make the guest comfortable. 2. Terrible service. The restaurant appeared short staffed that busy Friday night with only two servers managing the entire dinner service. As a result, our service was never prompt. Our server apologized multiple times through the night given the delays. Our appetizers took over 40 minutes to come. They forgot one of our appetizers which took another 10-15 mins to come. We were never offered compensation for the same. Following that, We waited over an hour for a main course. We were forever trying to catch our server's attention to get our drinks reordered, check on our food, etc. Ultimately, we were there for over two hours due to the service delays. When asked to validate our parking tickets, our server informed us that first two hours were free and we had to pay only a nominal fee for anything over that time. This really annoyed me given the delays were due to the restaurant and they did not seem to be interested upfront to help make the experience any better. It was only after I requested the server to go talk to the manager were we given a $10 compensation. 3. The food was average and in my opinion, and I'm being generous by saying that. I've had better food at Asian fast food restaurants for much cheaper. We got the sample tree, Roti canai, pork bun and crab wontons for appetizers. The sampler tree was good. The crab wontons were also pretty flavorful. For main course, we got the crying tiger, fish of the day(red snapper-$75), rack of ribs, and basil stirfry beef. All of these entrées were fairly disappointing and a touch too sweet from my liking. The flavors were nowhere as complex as you would expect in asian food. The fish was the most disappointing, particularly given the price we paid for it. 4. The restaurant tries for a lounge like experience with a live DJ and dim lights. The dim lights make it hard to read the menu. On social media they also promote having an in-house masseuse, giving shoulder massages during meals. That was the main reason for us coming here. However, when we didn't see one- upon inquiring further our server told us that this was no longer offered as the masseuse was away on a family emergency and they did not trust anybody else to do the job as well. 5. As I mentioned from the get-go, our server was great and was always trying to explain the mishaps while attempting to make the experience better for us, however, by the end of the night, it just felt like a bunch of excuses thrown our way for any concerns raised. Not once did the manager check in with us even when we complained about having to pay for parking and expressed our disappointment in our overall dining experience with the heat and the delays. Overall: I would recommend the restaurant management, spend money on building a better infrastructure for a greater dining experience which would bring returning customers rather than on false advertising via social media influencers, which may bring new customers in, however, they would not leave happy given the restaurant's current inability to provide what they promise.

Terrible food, worse service and even worse ambience!! Its better off to go to panda express! We went to Yao as a party of 4. The air conditioning in the inside room where we were seated was broken and it was unbearably hot! Like we are sweating while having dinner hot. To add to that there was a DJ playing music which was unbearably loud. We could not have a proper conversation with friends. I get the charm of having a DJ - but if I wanted to go to a loud lounge - I'd go to one. The service was pathetic and slow! And they add gratuity to the check for a party of 4! Wow. Also be aware, they do not comp parking - which other restaurants do. The final nail - the food. Seriously nothing was good. The crying tiger steak was fatty, the rack of lamb was chewy, the fish was lacking any flavor. Decent presentation, actually bad food. Never coming back again. Edited per owner's comment: 1. We were NOT told that the air conditioning is down till the END of our meal - when our server explained that the technician is working to fix the air conditioning. Nor were we given the option to wait to be seated in a cooler area. If you are replying back to a review - I recommend YOU get your facts right. 2. We overstayed the 2 hour parking limit because of the slow service. E.g. our server forgot an appetizer, and when we mentioned this - he put in the order, waited for the appetizer to come out and then when we were done with the appetizer served the entrees. We mentioned this to the server and his response was "oh parking after two hours is $2.99 only" - while $2.99 isnt a big amount, that is not the response any of us were looking for

I went to Yao again this past Saturday with my girlfriend. We thought it'd be a great idea to catch up over some drinks and appetizers. Thai places usually have a ton of appetizer choices and strong cocktails, plus we both love the food, so it was the perfect spot for lunch. We got there about an hour and a half before they closed for lunch, and they were set to reopen for dinner at 5. The place was mostly empty, with just a couple of other tables occupied. We kicked things off with some Lychee Martinis and ordered a bunch of appetizers--calamari, dumplings, a salmon sushi roll, and crab rangoons. Everything was super tasty! I've never had dinner or a main dish there, but seeing what other tables were getting definitely made me want to come back for more.

Yelp Fam! Hello!!! A friend and I decided to try out YAO after seeing it all over Instagram and TikTok. The decor and photos really drew me in, so I had to see what all the hype was about. From the moment I walked in, I was not disappointed. The decor was even more stunning in person--this place is beautiful from the bar to the upstairs section and all of the seating areas. There are gorgeous flowers and artwork everywhere. I'd recommend making a reservation, which is what we did to make sure we got a table. It wasn't too packed when we arrived, but by around 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday evening, most of the tables were full. Now, everything was great, but I want to mention one thing I didn't love. Gratitude was automatically added to the bill, which ended up being an extra $30. Our server was okay, but I wouldn't have given them $30. We didn't see him often, and he seemed overwhelmed by the number of tables he was managing. Personally, I would have tipped around $15, not $30. That's the only negative part of the experience, but it wasn't enough to stop me from coming back--because I definitely would! There might've been something on their website about the added gratuity that I missed, but it was added to our check. Our bill was over $150, but let me tell you, the food was worth every penny. So, my friend and I are big foodies, and whenever we go out, we like to try a variety of things from the menu. Here's what we ordered: Chicken Satay, Potstickers, Crab Wontons, and (2) orders of Cha Siu Pork Belly as appetizers. My friend ordered the Duck Fried Rice, and I opted for the Pineapple Fried Rice. For drinks, we had the Angel Envy Rye Whiskey Sour and the Black Heart Old Fashioned. Our total bill came to $192.21, with an added 18% gratuity of $31.68. Overall, the ambiance was amazing, and the food was really good. I would definitely recommend YAO, whether it's for a date night or a girls' night out. It's also a great spot for pictures and just a chill hangout. You get two hours of free parking in the garage, which is a nice bonus. If you haven't tried this place, GO TRY IT! I will definitely be back!

Looks are very deceiving! From the polished facade to the posh-modern aesthetic, one would think this is a great start to a good dinner. We were so wrong. Everything from the hostess & waiter's lack of care & finesse, to dinner - nothing impressed! To be candid, dinner - being edible at best - was a massive disappointment! The hot tea options were grocery store assortment - Yes, I'm bougie about me teas, most especially in an Asian cuisine establishment! Additionally, those in attendance agreed that the soup was the best part. Everything else, they could have taken back, nice presentation or no. My friends highlighted that they've had better fried rice at a cheap Chinese establishment, while the noodles in the other's Duck dish had an "off" fishy taste. My Panang had no vegetables and the rice was not steaming hot. Oh, but that's not all. It appears that they front-load tips into your Subtotal AND it has a separate tip space below for you to add a well - there were only 3 of us. The lack of adequate evening lighting needed to catch this, makes one wonder if it was intentional. Taking this factor into account, It's safe to say that some patrons might unwittingly add an additional tip, being otherwise unaware; so consider yourself cautioned. All in all, this is a ABSOLUTE NO, in terms of recommendations.

The interior is absolutely gorgeous--perfect for a date night or a cute lunch outing. We came for their $9.95 lunch specials. we got Shrimp Pad Thai and Panang Curry. for appetizer, crab wontons were so goood! def try their pretty cocktail along with dessert. Coconut Ice Cream was sooo photo-worthy it and delish with jelly on the bottom. *for parking, 2 hour free parking for visitor spot. The entrance of parking is on Hammond dr, once you park, ride elevator to B2 level.

Very nice spot for ambience and I highly recommend it for date night. Sexy vibe Asian fusion restaurant with soft music playing in the background. For cocktails, We started with a cinnamon old fashioned and a seeet Alabama whiskey sour. For appetizers, we opted for the Tom Tom soup since they were all out of the hot and sour soup. In an Asian restaurant, My dining companion always determines what meal to order based on the flavor of the soup. Hot and sour is his favorite so he was a tad disappointed. The Tom Tom soup was good enough but the true winner of our appetizers was the dumplings. They were beautifully presented and cooked with love. Served on top of a flavorful curry sauce. We also had a chicken satay which was cooked correctly with a tasty sauce. We concluded the meal with crispy garlic chicken and beef basil and both were great dishes. The best dish of the night was the beef basil by far I didn't get any pictures of the inside, but the interior is absolutely beautiful. Don't forget to look up at the beautiful ceilings. This is a great place for a nice photo opt. The parking garage offers two hours of free parking. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for kids at least not during the dinner hours. Their port

If you come just know that there is parking around. It may not look like it but there is. I came in and sat immediately but there were places at the bar. I could have sat as well so they have a lot of seating. If you don't see it just know that there is seating. They are super friendly. Well they were the last time I was there and very helpful. They have one of the little robots there so that definitely adds to the ambience of all of it but overall it's very nice and very clean inside. Honey butter wings - so the wings were okay. I didn't really get a lot of honey and butter with them so the name was a little misleading to me. Although they did have a hint of sweet to them, it wasn't what I would've called honey butter in the name. They were fried crispy and very well so that was something to their credit. They came with a musumine, cilantro, and lime sauce that was actually okay but a little on the sweeter side. Szeuchan steam wonton - the wontons were pretty good. They came at like eight wontons so it came with a lot. They had a pretty decent size and they weren't super tiny. The flavor was definitely there inside of the sauce and there was a lot of sauce on there. I actually used some of the sauce for another dish because there was so much so that was good. Grandma bbq pork (rice) - you could get the grandma barbecue in a couple of different ways and I decided to get mine with noodles. The dish will come basically looking like ramen, only without the broth, but it's very good presentation. It had an egg on top and it had three crispy wontons in there as well and two big hunks of bok choy, which I really didn't mess with. The pork itself was really good and tender and very flavorful. You could get this in a pasta dish or a rice dish or by itself and it would still be good and flavorful. Overall this is a pretty good spot to stop in if you want to try a myriad of different Asian cuisine types.

It's just I don't how to distinguish one from another and I really don't care about the decor. This place is really made for to go orders. There's two small tables in the center but I think most people don't eat here. The General Tso was decent. I really can't tell if it's that different from other Chinese American places. It was sweet but not overly sweet. The wife enjoyed the steak lo mein and felt like the portions were pretty large. I thought it could've used more steak but that may be just me. Would I come here again? Probably not. It's a decent +15 min drive for me and I think I pass by at least three Chinese American restaurants. I'm not sure they are better or worse.

But nothing at all other than the beer list makes it feel 'brewery', it's very much an upscale interior, fanstic layout of sushi bar, regular bar, open air dining and outdoor patio. The food - wow. very unique flavor profiles, hearty, lots of great options between samplers, sushi, and main courses. Pro Tip - if you feel overwhelemed about the menu, most of the staff that i meet here know it very well and have worked here for a very long time, so feel free to ask, we were suprised by such a good selection of options by our bartender.

I was able to get a table right away. It was well lighted and there was some soft background music, plus TVs over the bar showing sports. I ordered a beer and the Katsu Curry. The beer was very good, a nice fizzy crisp beer. The curry was a large bowl with rice and shredded cabbage at the bottom and some curried vegetables alongside the panko crusted chicken breast sliced beautifully on top. Everything tasted great. On a slightly warmer day it would be lovely to sit outside on the patio.

It's an asian restaurant food that offers seating inside and outside. Once we entered we were seated immediately and handed menus. Their menus are super cool and unique and are a bit overwhelming but nevertheless full of so much variety. The waitress was very sweet and checked in on us periodically and helped us fill out our sheet to place our order. We ordered a plethora of stuff such as crispy bulgogi bao buns, brushed sprouts, steamed dumplings, mango chicken and a noodle plate. Food didn't take long for it to come out on their little robot and staff helped put everything on the table. Everything smelled and looked amazing so it was tough to decide what to taste first! I first tried the crispy bao bun and was blown away by the flavor it had! It was like a mini burger. After that I tried the steamed dumplings and they were so yummy and specially with the sauce. Next I tried the Brussels sprouts and they were necessary my cup of tea but still good! Just wouldn't order again. Second to last thing I tried the mango chicken and man was it good!!! Full of the best aroma and flavor and cooked to perfection. The plating was also gorgeous as well!! We finished off with mango sticky rice and It was good but I do wish it had more mango to help the ratio. Overall, it was a really good visit and I was excited to try it out. It was a bit pricey but we did order a lot so it may be a special occasion once we come back again but I'd definitely be back!

It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper

Like a lot of other omakase places the restaurant was a little hard to find since it's pretty much just a door with a small sign and a couple of windows. The service there was phenomenal and I loved the variety for dishes! We had the 17 course meal for $242/person after taxes and tip, which was a little expensive but seemed fair for Atlanta. We started with some apps and my favorite was the oysters. Then most of the courses were various nigiri and ofc my favorites were the fatty tuna and eel. I also really liked the uni even though I usually don't! The presentation for everything was gorgeous and some of the sushi was pretty unique with the flavor pairings. Dinner ended with a small sorbet as dessert and my mom and I were both stuffed. I'll definitely be back for a special occasion :)

The 15-course menu was a masterpiece from start to finish. Each piece felt like art -- stunning presentation followed by incredible flavor. Every bite melted in my mouth, and the balance between the rice, the fish, and their special secret sauce was perfection. One of the highlights was the Kimi Oboro, prepared using a 200-year-old vinegar technique -- simply remarkable. My sister loved every dish, even falling in love with the pickled ginger! The service was outstanding as well -- two servers took care of us throughout the evening, always greeting us with genuine smiles and impeccable manners. This was probably the best omakase experience I've ever had -- and I've had over a hundred. I'm so glad my sister's first omakase turned into an unforgettable memory. Huge thanks to everyone who served us last night. Highly recommend this place to both first-timers and seasoned sushi lovers alike!
