Best auto repair shop!!! I will only go to here from now on. The mechanic is knowledgeable and finsih the job super fast.

We stopped by this place on a time budget and just asked how long it would take for a smog check and the nice man working said pull it in it'll only take 15 minutes. He was done in 15 minutes max, submitted the smog certificate report to the DMV automatically and sent us on our way. No hassle at all! The smog check was $58 for my Mom's Mercedes GL. Well worth it for taking us without an appointment and submitting the report automatically.

The oil change (29.99) + tax and it actually took less than 18 minutes.

I admittedly ended up only swinging by for a general check-up on my car after driving myself across the state. They were clear about how long it was going to take them to get to my car (that I brought by without an appointment), and they actually got around to completing the task before the estimated time. They were really thorough with identifying issues, and rather than try to sell themselves, they preemptively asserted that I could take my car elsewhere if I felt more comfortable with that; they still wanted to show me exactly what/where the issue was so that I could share that with whomever I would ultimately decide to do business with. I really appreciated how genuine and honest they were without making me feel guilted into having them work on my car. I'm not going to sugarcoat that the quote was a bit steep, but I trust that they were going to be the most diligent and detail-oriented people for the job. Their expertise is impressive, and I'm glad to know that I can always come here if I have car troubles again. Wholly recommend for character alone!

Went in for an oil change at the local Honda dealership and they recommended I change the steering rack on my car. The estimate was $4k+. Called several different shops to get quotes. Saw Tran's Auto Repair and read through some reviews and thought I'd give it a shot. Not only did Sy take his time to check on an estimate for me--which was very reasonable for the work required to replace a steering rack--he also suggested I bring the car in to double check to see whether I actually need the replacement. I was able to take the car in a few days later and after checking, turns out the rack was seeping just a bit of fluid, but not a major leak (what seems common for a car with 150k miles). Recommended we don't change it now and continue to check on it every oil change until it becomes an actual leak (if that ever happens). That recommendation checks out with how the car drives. Before my visit to the dealership I didn't notice any major issues with the steering--the car seemed to still have firm, controlled steering even at highway speeds. Mind you, I understand the business nature of auto shops. It is advantageous to recommend and do work on vehicles. But the fact that Tran's recommended not to get the steering rack replaced right now should speak to how honest they are with their customers (even a new one). I'll be back, and would highly recommend this place to anyone in need of service/repairs.

Perhaps a flat tire on the way to work is the signal to have an inspection, which is exactly what Justin had recommended for my car. I went with many of his recommendations in terms of what to fix, and the reports are just so thorough in what they find, that it is hard to delay anything to be taken care of. Justin's transparency throughout the process was definitely the highlight - his communication was stellar, even after my car was fixed, he called me to see if everything was all right after the fact. Although the turnaround time was extended, they offered a ride to the shop, as well as offered their rental car for the potential weekend I was going to be without my car, which I ended up not needing the entire weekend, as my car was only in the shop the next extra morning. All in all, I have a maintained car, new tires, and I had yet another great experience at A+ auto repair. Thanks again Justin!

I wanted a truly thorough understanding of the condition of the car, and A Plus Auto Repair absolutely delivered. What stood out most was Justin, the shop manager. I honestly don't think I've ever dealt with an auto repair shop where leadership was this engaged in the customer experience and making sure the work met my expectations. We had long, detailed discussions before the inspection so he fully understood my concerns, and afterward he personally followed up with a phone call to make sure I was satisfied and understood the findings. The inspection itself was extremely thorough and gave me a much clearer picture of the vehicle's condition. At no point did I feel rushed, dismissed, or upsold. The entire experience felt professional, transparent, and customer-focused. I highly recommend this shop, especially if you want people who genuinely care about doing the job right and making sure you leave informed and confident.

Predatory towing!!! My car was towed from parking area at a…read morelot where I was shopping. When I tried to get it back by calling the number provided on the sign a very rude girl answered. She proceeded to act like she was a police officer including demanding to speak with shop owners. She insisted the tow company asked each of the shop owners if that was a customer car before towing it however if that's the case of the 3 shops at the lot, than why would they need to ask all 3 unless no one acctually reported the car and they specificly target that small lot hoping to see a car they can potentially tow for a quick money grab . Which is exactly what one of the shop employees revealed when he was speaking to me after this situation happened and I was trying to get an address of the tow yard. And I witnessed it as I was at the lot waiting to get the information the same towing company truck came back to the lot and circled it with in a short time frame ( when at that point I was there and talking to all 3 shops owners/employees so I know they were not contacted and were simply doing tow rounds to see if any cars had been there since they last circled). Hence predatory towing!!! This way they can then go to each of the 3 shops and ask if that's a customer's car however obviously the shop owners won't know which customer owns which car so they quickly tow it and basically get a cash grab .... The little girl on the phone service refused to accept the employees account over the my phone when she asked to speak with them and they verified i was a customer and had been in the store. She proceeded then to question them aggressively about times and reciepts for purchases ( this was a Chinese gentleman who was getting very uncomfortable whith the way she was battering him with her questioning and aggressive stlye. He simply explained i was I had indeed used his store he wasn't sure of the exact time and she continued to battered him about the exact time until he finally gave me the phone back and said I gave her the correct information she asked for but I dont know exact time. She acted like she was the police questioning a criminal when she obviously isn't and was extremely unprofessional poorly trained... it took 5 times of calling the auto get her to revealed the address as she kept letting it go to voice mail ( which is in fact illegal in a private tow posted phone number) There's supposed to be a 24 hour pay by phone number listed. SHE would not accept the shop owners account that I was indeed there. She then said I would need to go to the address of the towed vehicle at 930 Pm even though it was over an hour from that time . When I arrived in a Uber I tried calling the number to make sure there would be someone coming and agian voice mail... I arrive at 915 so at 930 when no one showed up and I was stuck in a very dark and isolated areas alone I called the police number. They were finally able to reach her through there number and she said someone was on the way. I explained this was dangerous for me to be standing in such an isolated place latest night alone female and her person meeting me was still not there and late at this point and her response was don't worry nothing going to happen there and she hung up on me ... They tow guy finally arrived over 20 minutes late. I did have a written statement I gathered from the shop owners that I was indeed at the shops signed by them and I do have an ATM reciept also time stamped from the ATM machine in the market. When I asked for my itemized invoice from the employee that charged my card 680.00 and released the car and happened to be the guy who towed it in the first place and his name which they are legally supposed to provide along with a customer rights document he didn't provide any of that and would not answer me when I asked what time he towed this car and who indicated this tow in the fist place. HE ONLY provided me a receipt for my payment made under duress and a company card with only bussiness name and number on it ( NOTHING ELSE).This too is illegal and falls under Predatory and wrongful towing practices. I DID try to call the original signage phone number when I arrived home this time same girl answerd I explained it wanted the itemized tow invoice and I asked her the time my vehicle was towed she asked for my license plate number and agreed that I should have received that information and she would send it to me in a pdf however before I could give it to her she yet again hung up on me after I asked what time they in fact towed me ( obviously not with on the one hour rule ) Agian Predatory towing! THIS company is completely unprofessional and untrained in proper private property towing laws of San Mateo County! They should be investigated throughly. THEY have figured out a way to illegally tow people's vehicles and basically strong arm you into paying for the exorbitant rate to get your car back . EVEN when wrongful tow!!!!!

They told me what would be involved and that they would not be able to work on it without it costing a fortune. A less than honest shop might've tried to soak me for a repair job that ends up costing more than expected. I know, because others have tried that. These guys gave me an honest appraisal, and I remembered that when choosing a shop to work on my wife's car. We had just bought a 2006 BMW 330 ci, and like clockwork, just after the 30-day warranty expired, we had problems. It had just rained torrentially for three straight days and unbeknownst to us, the drainage ports in the trunk were completely clogged, allowing water to build up and penetrate to the electrical system. We noticed the dash lights, indicators, and steering wheel controls did not work. We brought it to Toole's with the hope that it was something easily diagnosed and fixed. It wasn't. To keep an already long story from getting much longer, I will just say that it was a 4-day-long diagnosis as the problem component(s) were not easily found, even with advanced diagnostic equipment. They sought out expert advice from other professionals who specialize in BMWs. The problem component was found and replaced. I originally agreed to three hours of labor, but since it went as long as it did, I happily agreed to an extra hour. So essentially, they stuck to the agreement plus a reasonable additional amount. I tried to add on a tip but they wouldn't accept it. We bought them pizzas instead. I recommend this shop because they're honest, friendly professionals who seem to really want to help out their customers while running a respectable business.

The first time they did what they were supposed to but also added all sorts of nonessential, foolish, 'let's see if the old lady falls for this' service recommendations. It immediately reminded me of back in the day when car salesmen pushed undercoating. Also not necessary. I politely declined the extra +/- $1,000 (!) services. I tried again about two weeks ago when I went in for a problem with the driver's side window. Give them a second chance. The young man told me, to my face, that it would cost $260 **just to look at the problem**. In deference to his youth I did not say what I was really thinking, asked him to repeat the quote, said thank you and left. Here's the thing - women are actually not stupid and this kind of thing happens to us all the time. It is infuriating and highly insulting. Ask any woman you know to tell you her version of these experiences. Finally, the core issue is being disrespected. No one wants that. Oh, the end of the story is that I went to another shop nearby and the guys looked at the problem immediately, fixed a minor adjustment and did not charge me. BTW, they had three or four bays: BMW, Lexus, Mercedes so clearly they were trusted. Just saying. Bye.

I was a little frustrated because they told me the problem was fixed. I immediately brought the back, had it re-diagnosed, and was later told there is another issue which would cost $700 (after a bit of a discount), and there could be more after that. It's an older car, but with relatively low mileage for its age (20 year old Lexus sedan with 105k miles). At least this time I was told there are potentially other underlying issues, which could be cost prohibitive. After this second round of repairs, I was told they'd have to partially take apart the engine because "it could be..." I didn't want to continue this process if they weren't even sure what the problem is and I would have to pay them more so they could "maybe find" what is causing the check engine light. They seemed to be more diligent this second time, and took a little more care to see if the check engine light issue was fully resolved. Good on them for their second effort. I wish they could have done a more thorough check the first time instead of it seeming so exploratory. Maybe that's how the problem had to be discovered, but it felt like it was more process of elimination than a targeted solution. I can disconnect and reconnect my battery and get the same results of the check engine light off for a few days. I took the car back now $2400 lighter in the pocket, unclear if the two parts they replaced may have still been functioning, and with my check engine light still on. I feel it was a misdiagnosis of the problem initially. If they properly diagnosed the problem, my decision making would have been different. Instead, I feel as if I got strung along for two payments if I wanted to have my car back that I still can't register.
