Update: Amazing broth, they improved big time !!! Weeks ago they were still in soft opening, but today I tried their R2 black garlic shoyu ramen, and I am soooo blown away. I finished and licked the entire bowl, happy belly My new favorite place in town. I love their ambience and their service is friendly. Pleasantly surprised to find an authentic Japanese ramen shop in the middle of Central Jersey. My favorite is R2 the black garlic shoyu ramen. Perfectly cooked ramen noodles and super tasty garlic shoyu broth. The Chashu pork was probably one the best I ever tasted. Its got a smokey grill taste that just melts in your mouth. The portion was just right. It was so good that I went again the next day. I already saw people lined up to eat there for dinner. Even with the wait, the staff were super nice and accommodating. Perfect weather for Ramen, it was chilly and windy, me and my friends went there for lunch. We got a table right away. I got spicy miso with extra spice on the side. I come here often because it is located across from work and I am satisfied every time. It always looks clean and the decor gives it a modern and cool ambiance. It's not that big, so it'd be hard to bring a big group of people to eat here. Fortunately, service is fast and the waiters are all attentive. During my lunch breaks, I get my food in less than 10 minutes, so I can easily come in and get out while still eating delicious food. The ramen isn't groundbreaking, but I am very content with it. The portion size is good for one person, and I usually end up finishing the broth from the bowl. The toppings compliment the broth well and I am a fan of their soft-boiled eggs. There are plenty of veggies to help fill you up if the noodles are not enough. The broth was neither too oily nor too salty. I think there is a decent amount of pork and it's not too fatty. The special ramens like Truffle Butter Ramen are a nice touch to an already solid menu and help it stand out from average ramen places. I'm a fan of spice so I usually go for the Spicy Miso Ramen, which isn't that spicy for me so I add chili powder. I also immensely enjoy the teriyaki rice bowls. The Yum Yum Sauce has the perfect amount of kick to it and it's automatically on the side so that you can control the amount you mix in with the dish. The portion may be a bit big for the regular person but I can inhale rice like no other so I usually finish everything in the bowl. I usually order the Shrimp Rice Bowl, and for $8.95 you get a good amount of shrimp that are also decently sized. The worst thing every is getting a shrimp dish and only getting 6 pieces of super small shrimp, but you won't experience that here. The chicken is also tasty, so sometimes I get the Chicken and Shrimp Rice Bowl. I like to order Green Tea when I go to Japanese restaurants, but it's $3.00 here, so I don't order it here since I can either get it for way cheaper or even for free at other places. As for appetizers, I've gotten the Spicy Crab Salad, Shumai, and Tantan Don. The first two are okay, but not really worth the price. I do however love the Tantan Don, and sometimes I would order this and another appetizer as my meal. Overall, I wouldn't order a drink or appetizer with my meal since the entrees are filling enough and I come here for lunch so I'd like to save money. If you come for dinner or with your family, it'd be worth splurging on the appetizers and desserts! read more

Me and my friends passed by this place while heading home and noted that we had to try it. Next day, we came by and we were told it was soft opening so a lot of items on the menu were still being adjusted. The interior is a bit small, but its still comfortable and very hip (I mean they serve water in mason jars, very hip LOL) Below is our food experience during /SOFT OPENING/ Im looking forward to coming back again and seeing if their menu items have improved. Apps - Fried Chicken, Crab Salad, and Gyoza Fried chicken was pretty standard. Tasted good but nothing too special, the dipping sauce is a spicy mayo like sauce. It was nice to eat since I was craving it. Crab Salad was nice, felt like it lacked a little texture. It could use crunchy bits (panko or maybe thicker sliced cucumber) we weren't expecting a light ginger sauce in the salad but it made it much more refreshing! Gyoza was nicely fried and the taste was quite good. Again, pretty standard but if you're craving this item it's pretty good. Ramen - Black Garlic, Tan Tan, and Spicy Miso. We ordered a side of egg for the Black Garlic and Tan Tan since it didnt come with it (bummer but its okay). Black Garlic is a salt based ramen on their menu and it was JUST added the day before we came, so they were still adjusting the taste for this. I really liked the garlic flavor but I felt like it wasn't salty enough? It was missing something, it felt like it was a tad bland. The egg and the pork slices were AMAZING though, I loved them. Tan Tan Ramen was spicy, but my friend noted that she felt like this was also lacking something. The pork was nice, and the spicy flavor was there, but she wished that there was a more "dan dan noodle" type flavor. Spicy Miso was hands down the best tasting one. The salt level was good and the spice was nice. Once we tried her ramen ours tasted was much less salty and couldn't compare. She ordered hers with the wavy noodles which tasted great. Overall, I think this place has great potential! I would love to come back as the owner was really appreciative of our feedback on the food and see how it could be improved. They were still experimenting with their flavors, so it was nice to see. We also received free mochi if we checked in using Facebook or Instagram! Ordered spicy vegetarian and regular vegetarian, spring rolls, and shrimp shumai, as well as tan tan ramen. 1 star off because the vegetarian versions don't come with many veggies. I asked one of the waitresses if the can add broccoli and such next time (they have these items as they're included with other dishes...) she said "no, no, it don't come with that". Ok? Shumai was ok, too sweet. Spring rolls were tasty! Since the vegetarian ramen is not served with many veggies, I doubt my mom will say "let's get ramen from here" any time in the near future, so I hope to come back when she's out elsewhere. read more

First time here and it was amazing. We plug a gyoza app and I got the spicy miso ramen . My wife got the house special. The gyoza was really tasty and came over a bed of cabbage. I would've snapped a picture but we inhaled them. We got the ramen and both were absolutely delicious, very rich and flavorful broths and a gorgeous presentations. The noodles were a nice al dente and had a nice chew. The chashu pork had a really good smokiness to it and literally melted in your mouth. I was almost tempted to take a bath in the bowl and surround myself with the noodles but I had to remind myself that I was in public and that those types of things are not socially acceptable. Yumm. Finally a delicious and reasonable ramen spot around my hood. They had a good amount of ramen selection & i went with the spicy miso. It was only $9.95 and it came with half an egg. So delicious! I had shared a chasu rice bowl with my friend, that was $7 a bowl. It was alright, I have had better. I would come here strictly for the ramen. Service was good and fast since there were two tables including us. We got the calamari. The calamari and lighter breading than what I was used to but made me enjoy it more. The aioli that came with it was good too and had just enough spice in it for me. The ramen was also pretty good! Might have been a little salty for some but it was good to me. There could have been room for improvement but since they were pretty new I'm sure they've only gotten better since. The pork belly was slightly charred a little more than I would have liked where I could taste the charcoal like flavor. I'm not sure if that makes sense but the charcoal/burnt taste took a bit away from me having the pork belly experience that I would have liked to have. Saw this ramen place while driving on 27 and was looking forward to trying it. Very accessible and easy to get here with ample parking. The interior is clean and very chic, it is obvious that a lot has been put into planning the vibe and concept of the restaurant. We ordered the fried chicken appetizer, their ramen special with wavy noodles, and a shrimp and chicken rice bowl. All were very good and exceeded our expectations! The chicken was properly seasoned and the sauce that's paired with it brings additional flavor to the appetizer. The broth for the ramen was very flavorful and not too rich. And the rice bowl comes with the yum yum sauce which was also used for the chicken. Definitely very reasonable for the price, added the clean interior, and very very friendly staff! Went here with my friend for lunch after browsing for some potential motorcycles at the nearby mall. Walking in we were greeted with a very friendly hello and we got to sit wherever we wanted. Shortly after we got our menus and I was excited to try some food. We both ordered Takoyaki as our appetizers and I was so impressed. This was hands down the best I've ever had. This place actually had decent size chunks of octopus in the balls and tasted fabulous. We both also went for the House Ramen with the wavy noodles from the waitresses recommendation. It came out rather quick and we dug on. This was one of my favorite bowls of ramen period. I've been to a couple other places and didn't really see the hype of a bowl of ramen but this restaurant showed me the way. The pork was tender and charred nicely with the mushroom and scallions on the side. The soft boiled egg was cooked perfectly and overall was an amazing dish. The broth was so tasty and usually I don't finish the bowl but this time I left the plate empty. With some fair pricing and awesome food quality and service I definitely recommend. On entering the establishment we greeted by the staff from a distance - big, warm smiles! We felt extremely welcomed! The aura was clean and well-kept. On being seated our wait time was very short. So I really wanted this place to blow my socks off. I had read many of the reviews and even spoke to someone in private message about what they thought. The person commented on Yelp that it was so good it tasted like the same they had in Japan. That to me made me want to experience Ramen that good and what another, thought to be authentic. Upon arriving I ordered black garlic and Miso. When they can it appeared that it might have a chance. Upon tasting both of them you could just tell that this place was not authentic and doesn't feel like they put som time into the broths. I was hoping for a broth that was so rich with pork bone flavor because of a 24 hour steep and that's not what I got. Don't get me wrong the flavor was some what ok, but I can make package ramen water taste like it. I was so excited to find this place because it is closer to my house then my normal ramen place but it just doesn't compare. My comparisons are based off of my experience at Ramen Nagomi, which everyone in Central Jersey should be going to because that is amazing ramen. This place just didn't do it for me. I was hoping for another Ramen option but the broth was just to thin and watery, the egg didn't seem marinated, noodles over cooked and the noodles did not seem like they were made that day. Oh well hopefully maybe in the future I will try it again and more passion flavor and care is put into this place's food. Taste your food, if you don't like it, start over. I like that the owner responded and I will update my review when I go back and try it again! Went again on 12/15/19 hoping that the owner took my advise but it doesn't seem that way. It is good soup but all the owner had to do is go to Ramen Nagomi and speak to that owner. He will hopefully guide you to success. Don't get me wrong you have good soup. However good Ramen is a complex compilation of flavors and broths that are placed on top of lightly cooked noodles, Not soggy over cooked noodles that were out in a broth with a spoon full of Miso paste before it gets to the table. Bones, Bones, Bones........ cook your bones for hours and that's how your broth of epic proportions will be created. Something as simple as a marinated egg!!!!!! Not some plain ass hard boiled egg. Yaruku Ramen was good but it definitely didn't blow me away. All the bowls were pork boned broth based so I expected the typical depth of flavor / thickness that comes with pork boned broth. It was tasty but not amazing. I'd probably be back for a bowl in the future but if someone were to ask me for a referral I probably wouldn't put Yaruku first. I will say that for the $13 price point the portion size was large with a hefty helping of noodles and a whole egg. Some of their ramens came with only half an egg. Might have just found my go-to spot for a quick bite! Though they're currently in a soft opening, they're definitely on the right track Ordered a Chicken Rice Bowel and a side of fried calamari. There were about 10 pieces of calamari for around $6, a pretty good deal for how large each piece was. Came with a small bed of shredded cabbage and a dipping sauce. The batter had a partial crust but was mostly soft and tender, with the calamari itself having a bit of a chew to it. The chicken rice bowel also has a good amount of large chicken pieces, soft and tender with a nice bit of char. They also include a velvety type sauce that you can choose to spread over the rice bowel (definitely elevated the flavor so I would recommend it!). Very filling and flavorful, and was about $8 which is a great price for the amount you're getting. The decor is also pretty spot on and everything is nice and clean. First time here and we loved it. My fiancé and i have been meaning to visit for awhile. We made it in on weekday night and we're seated immediately with warm smiles. Hot green tea was so nice to have on a chilly night. We ordered the pork chashu bowl with white rice and Japanese mayo. It was very good and the mayo definitely was the kewpie Japanese mayo from the taste of it. Pure yum. I got the chicken teriyaki bowl and let me just say that it was amazing. The teriyaki sauce was very savory/sweet and not overly sweet which I loved. There was a lot of chicken pieces and a good amount of food for the price. My fiancé got the spicy miso ramen and he LOVED it. He's a big ramen fan so for him to say he wanted to come in the next day for more ramen you know he really enjoyed it.
