Came here for a late Mother's Day dinner for my mother since my mom isn't vegan but my hubby, daughter and I are vegan. I had previously heard that they offer a few items that could be customized to be vegan. They carry the Beyond Burger as well as some Gardein products. Most of these are vegetarian but not necessarily vegan. The waitress shared that the Beyond Burger had a vegan bun and that all items in the burger were vegan. However, the French fries were cooked in a shared frier with other animal products, so not necessarily vegan. My hubby ended up ordering a small side salad. I ordered the Gardein chickenless strips with veggies stir fried rice and a garden salad on the side. The portion size of the garden salad was large, and while the stir fry seemed small, when paired with the salad it was filling. I liked how the kids meal allowed for substitutions of the Gardein strips for the animal products. We ordered Gardein chickenless strips with a side of fruit and a kid's lemonade. My non-vegan mom ordered a club sandwich with fries. She washed it down with a few mixed drinks from the bar. The bar menu was extensive with a huge selection of beer and a few options for mixed drinks. Hubby and I settled for beer but later I opted to try a dirty martini. The beer seemed to have about half an inch of head if not more. The dirty martini was not filled to the top and seemed to be missing a half an inch of product. Drinks were the only thing that came relatively quickly. Food was incredibly slow to come out. We were at the restaurant for two hours so definitely don't come if you're short on time. The service was friendly and the waitress was able to answer our vegan food questions but just incredibly slow. I'm grateful for the vegan options but really wish they had a dedicated frier. The $28 Halibut was dry, and the bok choy was barely cooked, it came drenched in broth which completely covered what little mashed potatoes came along with the meal. I love this place! The staff is amazing, the number of beers & ciders on draft is impeccable. They have a fantastic selection of vegetarian options, we are obsessed with their gardein wings - you still get the option of any of their wing sauces on these! We came in around 5:40 trying to get the last few mins of happy hour and the bar was packed. The bartender Keith scoped out some customers who were leaving and told us to come sit down. Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago on a date night with my wife! We both were very excited to try this place and have heard great things. I got the rib eye and my wife got a fish plate with rice. Both plates were fairly expensive. My rib eye, mash potatoes, and asparagus were great! My wife and I both liked the fish, she let me try some :), but the rice it came with was very bland. Unfortunately didn't taste very well with the rest of the dish. They offered no assistance and refused to walk inside to check the kitchen for my order. The lousy duo of three (1 male, w females) were too lazy to even look up from their brooms to speak directly to my face but did managed up the muster to murmur all the cooks had gone home and that they were the only people left and to basically get fucked. AN EITHT IT TWO DOLLAR ORDER. Ah; and the lie-three minutes later a man seemingly the cook or chef was seen walking back-and-forth in the kitchen likely where my food once was until the fat-fuck cleaning crew decided they felt a little entitled to a meal for six on my fucking dime. Why else deny the paying customer who's contributed write your check her food? Obviiousku, the food was prepared; and stolen by a cleaning crew of assholes who never once offered a simple apology. I want my money back I do not want to gift card because I don't want to eat it at an establishment where the cleaning crew treats me like shit, with Complete disregard for the mistake & then failed to offer an apology all the while negating to remember that orders from customers write their paychecks and even had the audacity to laugh at me while discussing the situation with mall security. Losing $82 for a meal you can't eat isn't funny. Laughing at someones loss is unkind. I imagine Team Juvenile (cleaning crew) found the comedy in my disappointment and and found it to be some sort or a "win" to eat and $82 meal for free . I have eaten at many Yard House Locations and have always raved about the clam chowder and vodka shrimp pasta. While the chowder is still great at this location the vodka shrimp pasta is not consistent with other locations. They clearly have added some stuff at this location that doesn't taste as good. It was brought to the attention omanager Beau and he was extremely cordial and understanding. Also there is a bartender named Jon and he is extremely personable and a good people person. The bartenders were rude, we had to ask several times for silverware, the food would just sit there at the kitchen before they would grab it so it was cold when we got it. They didn't wipe down the bar or tables and to top it off we SAW A SERVER EATING OUT OF THE BUSSING TUBS, FOOD HE JUST CLEANED UP FROM A TABLE. This is the second review I have left about Yard House and nothing has changed. Again look how the beer comes. This is not a mistake. Yard House is doing this on purpose to save money. This is absolutely unacceptable to bring a customer a beer that is not full. I have been too a dozen different places and none of them bring me my beer that is not full. This will be the last time I come to this place. If you are looking for a place to have Happy Hour do not come here. Go somewhere that fills your beers. Here is a follow up from my recent post. As you can see I went to three different places that all filled my beer to the top. The first picture is a beer from Board and Brew, the second picture is a beer from WR Kitchen & Bar, and the third is a beer from Senior Grubby's. Notice anything different? All three beers are full unlike Yard House. I am wonder Monique, why this is? Why do you not fill up your guests beer all the way up at Yard House?? People, please start posting pictures of your beers from places you go and from Yard House. Yard House is purposely under pouring and Monique told me that. Monique told me they teach their employees to leave room for the foam. Wonder why no other places does that. Look how much room is left in my beers from Yard House. Love the vibe here! Huge menu and so far I haven't had anything I don't like so this a great place to come when you can't decide what to eat. The staff is great, and our waitress today was Claire, she was awesome! Very fun, friendly and attentive. They even gave us a complimentary cheesecake since we were celebrating my birthday. We've been in twice now. First time at the bartop, and had really slow and inattentive service. Which is usually why we sit at the bar, to get better service since the bartender is right there. But that night, the bartenders were busy playing grab-ass instead of taking care of patrons. Food was average, didn't love any of the experience. I used to go to the Yardhouse in Costa Mesa ALL THE TIME in my 20's and early 30's. So it's not that I don't like the concept. Maybe I have higher standards now. This one has definitely upgraded the situation at the Carlsbad Mall. Aside from the first visit with crappy service, it's going to be a good location. Our second visit was during the World Series. That game that went 18 innings or whatever. We were there late after a football game and knew we could get food late there. Much better service, to the point where I was like "okay please go away" our server was super sweet and talkative, told us all about her vacation she was on with her family in the Maldives I think? This was a few weeks ago so I can't remember. We like to travel so we listened, but after 10 min I was like "can i get a drink while we listen to this please" But I'd rather have that than be ignored.
