Yard House is usually my go to for happy hour spots. However, at the DC location if there is a big event around the area, they will not have their happy hour menu and just their regular menu. Before coming into Yard House, we checked in on their waitlist early to avoid waiting as long as there was an estimated 45-55 minute wait. Since we checked in on their waitlist early, our wait once at the restaurant was around 5 minutes and we were sat outside. Sitting outside on such a nice day was very enjoyable compared to the crowded inside. I would say the service at the DC location was kind of meh compared to my other experiences at other locations. We waited a bit for requests like more water and ketchup to go with our meal. For my meal specifically, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was lacking in spice and sauciness. It was a tasty sandwich but definitely wasn't giving Nashville hot chicken sandwich. However, the fried calamari came out hot and was as delicious as my other experiences getting this dish. Yard House is definitely still one of my favorite chain spots to go to but I think the business in this location played a part in a bit of a lackluster experience. read more

Stopped by on our way to a concert at Cap One Arena. I love coming to Yard House for their Poke Nachos, but I was a little disappointed. They were good but something was missing something. I couldn't put my finger on what it was. Also, as a heads up, they don't do happy hour specials when there was an event so that was a little disappointing. The star of our night was our server, Mahlet. She was so amazing and accommodating. We never wanted for anything because she was always right there. Such a sweet and welcoming soul. We ordered the smoked Old Fashioned and it's definitely a show with strong smoked flavor. The midnight sangria was sweet and smooth with nice fruity notes. The onion ring tower was delicious and hot and comes with a sour cream sauce and chipotle sauce for dippingThe whiskey salmon with the jasmine rice and carrots was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Giving yard house 3 stars because they couldn't play our hockey game on any of the tv's. Apparently they didn't have access to it. It's major league hockey and this is a sports bar. We went out of our way to get there to watch hockey and were disappointed. We did order one drink while waiting for them to put the hockey game on that never happened. Watermelon margarita was good. We liked that a server came by to take drink orders while we were standing around. My hubby & I both had the classic Philly cheesesteak & the meat was flavorful & juicy w/fantastic Provolone cheese melty & wonderful w/garlic aioli that was fabulous. Our entrées were good (cilantro lime chicken - very generous portion size, and chicken avocado sandwich- but the french fries were blahhh) , the drinks we had were good (I had a pink dragon margarita) and our server Lexi was good too! But there were some staff members that were plain rude. We got a table in the middle of the place and asked our host if we could have a booth, and she flat out said no. They have a HUGE beer selection, and while that can be slightly overwhelming, the bartenders are really good at giving recommendations & letting you try a couple before deciding on one to order. We also were treated to a buffet of their food - all of which was solid (if not better than average) bar food. They had a varied menu ranging from tofu lettuce wraps to margherita pizza to firecracker shrimp. Everything was tasty! Table service was decent (waiters would walk by and check in fairly frequently), but it's a lot faster to just get drinks from the bar. It was surprisingly difficult to get a water - however (ended up having to snag glasses ourselves). I would like to go back and visit this place on a "regular" night! Came to this location of the Yard House for the first time for lunch on a weekend. Hubby and I ordered a couple of drinks, the Wisconsin cheese curds appetizer, poke salad, and bleu cheese burger. Total came out to approximately $86 (not including tip). What's hot - Quality. Delish! All our orders were great. The cheese curds were delicious and not overly breaded. The hot honey and horseradish aioli added a nice extra kick. My husband ordered his burger medium and it was cooked very well. My poke salad had a nice amount of ahi tuna, avocado, edamame, roe, and seaweed salad. All our food was well-seasoned and not overly salty. - Menu variety. Something for everyone- veggies, meats, seafood, drinks, etc.... - Layout. Given that it's DC, the space is pretty good. They have a nice open bar with many tvs there, as well. They have many booths that are deep, which can seat 6-8 people, which is helpful. - Price. Moderately priced and pretty good value for money. My poke salad was approximately $21. The most expensive item on our tab was a mixed drink, which was around $13, which surprised us as to how much one mixed drink ended up being. - Service. Pretty good, especially when it's busy. This place was pretty packed and service was still pretty reliable and attentive. What's not - Noise level. We were here on a Sunday afternoon and it was incredibly loud inside, to the point it was difficult to hear each other, even though we were sitting right next to each other. I point this out for others to be mindful of this when there may be a special sports event going on or whatever else. The noise carries very easily in this place. - Price. To be fair, most of their menu items are reasonably priced. However, one of our mixed drinks was $13 just for the drink. Something to be mindful of, because your tab can run up quickly depending on exactly what you're ordering. I'm a regular here and their happy hours are ADDICTIVE! I've also visited them after hours when coming home from the club and it's always good. Did I mention that their happy hour starts at 3pm?! Get there! Ambiance: this spot is live and a great place to catch a game, mingle at the bar and simply chill. Singles...it's also a good place to find a friend lol don't say I never told you so. Drinks: their happy hour prices are 1/2 off so I normally get wine or a cocktail and I've never had any complaints and always leave satisfied. Food: my go to items are traditional wings, chicken tenders and sliders with bbq sauce on the side (SO TASTY!) I normally get either of these because hey, I'm mostly there for the drinks but these menu items are given in large portions and they're so good! Warning: wings are NOT served on the happy hour menu. Overall, I truly appreciate this bar. I didn't mention service because honestly service can be a hit or miss. I've sadly had a few misses because my servers have either left me waiting for the bill for a longggggg time, overcharged me, or messed up my order. Of course after speaking with them about it they accommodated for the inconvenience but I wouldn't say that service is anything to rave about-the food and drinks are. Happy hour prices: you'll probably spend around $10-25 depending on what you purchase and that of course speaks to the total for drinks and the selection of food on the menu. Normally I don't have high expectations chain restaurants. But this location was quite good. For a DC restaurant it is quite large with two levels. While we waited for the rest of our group to arrive we got drinks at the bar. The bartender was cordial and gave us our drinks promptly. I got a mojito and it was mixed well. When the rest of our group came we were seated at a large table. There were some hiccups with everyone getting all of their food. But at least all the appetizers came out promptly so no one was left without food. I personally had no issues with my food. It came out in a timely manner and came hot. I got a carne asada taco and a shrimp taco. These were some of the best tacos I've had in a restaurant. They were not skimpy on the stuffing either. Rice was well seasoned. They were good enough that I ordered another. We shared a plate of chips and salsa, which was ok. The salsa was good. But the chips were just regular tortilla chips that tasted like what you can buy from a grocery store. As with most DC restaurants, there is no dedicated parking. You will either have to find street parking or a garage. There is no validation. read more

I love Yardhouse and try to visit one in whatever city Im in. This one was pretty typical. There were plenty of staff on hand to assist and seat customers. I ordered my usual cheese curds and half-size jambalaya with brown rice. The curds were a little underdone in my opinion. Usually they are a nice crisp golden color but these were kind of pale. The jambalaya was great, no complaints there. I went on a Saturday afternoon, so unfortunately no Happy Hour specials but go Mon-Fri 3p-6pm and take advantage of deep discount specials for drinks and apps. read more

This was a good experience at Yard House in Chinatown and my second good experience at a Yard House chain. My friends and I dined here after our first restaurant choice didn't pan out well. We left that place and prior to arriving at Yard House I called the restaurant to ask if I needed to make reservation to which I was informed I did not and even better there was no wait time to be seated. Excited, my friends and seized the opportunity and lucked in a back corner booth table under a television. A party of four on a busy Saturday evening didn't seem to impact quality of food or service. Our waiter was very efficient. Despite not being friendly he was very efficient in taking our order, going over menu items with us, showing us how to order food and drinks using the table tablet, and waiting on us in general. At 7:30pm on a Saturday evening I assumed his lack of friendly behavior was the bi-product of a long work day which made me think his efficient was even more impressive. The food was delicious and typical good quality bar food. My second experience at Yard House and I can say the food quality is consistent across the chain. This place is known for their vast array of fine brews however the food has as good a reputation. Maybe too many brew options for my liking and so much it was difficult to order some of them on the table tablet simply because it was difficult to locate some of them amongst all of the available options. We ended up ordering our drinks with the waiter. We ordered the following menu items, all of which was delicious: Buffalo Wings Chicken Nachos Seared Ahi Sashimi Bleu Cheese & Bacon Burger Beer Battered Fish & Chips Drinks: Strawberry Mojito Old 43 (Old Fashioned) Yuengling House Belgian White Stone Tangerine Express Overall a good experience and I will definitely visit again. Overall- a very enjoyable time at this bustling spot in Chinatown. Popped in for Happy Hour and was wowed by the unexpected gems on the half price appetizer menu. Poke nachos, ahi sashimi and classic sliders were all delicious. I cannot get over the poke nachos being on the HH menu- SCORE!!! I will be Lyft-ing back over soon for them! :) The Lavender Drop Martini and Southern Rush cocktail were delicious with surprising attention to detail for such a casual spot. The chardonnay choices were good... served perfectly chilled (so many places struggle with that). The service was interesting. Jeff was our bartender/server and was professional, personable, attentive and knowledgeable. Most of the bartenders were friendly and professional. There were a few groups of employees hanging out with each other... one group right next to us... with one yelling across the bar to a bartender. They were having a good time and that's cool. The loud swearing and how long it went on seemed odd. Didn't bother us, but it did make me wonder about their policies/management a bit... you know... if that is happening out front, what's happening in the kitchen... LOL. No stars off from me because the food, drinks and service were outstanding. Reason 125 to avoid downtown restaurants: Went there on a Wednesday afternoon (4pm) for happy hour but only when I asked for the check was I advised that happy hour is SUSPENDED whenever Capital One Arena has an event going on. I haven't been to this yard house in a few years due to last bad experience (review). Have been to other Yard House locations between the east and west coast during this time though and had several good experiences. Well, I let the marketing department do their thing and decided to give this location a try again after I was sent a birthday promo. Alas, another underwhelming experience. Long delays between seeing the waitress, who wasn't all together with it. Food that didn't come out time and this resulted in fries that were cold. In the end, the bill came and my birthday dessert was on the bill instead of the promo being used. The waitress corrected, but didn't seem to care that she didn't know what she was doing. It is too bad this location is so bad, as Yard House is one on my favorite places when visiting cities outside D.C. As for this location, good job corporate marketing on swaying me in, but I will wait another few years before trying this location again. read more

Just around the corner from our hotel! We stopped here for dinner and a drink. Our server, Kayla, was super sweet, informative, and attentive. We ordered drinks off the kiosk on the table since there were too many options to choose from and we needed time. Unfortunately, many of the house cocktails include agave or tequila, which I am allergic to. So I got a Jack and Ginger. It was yummy. Not to strong or too week. My sister also got a drink, Mojito maybe. No complaints. Kayla was back to take our order...BBQ cheddar burger and an avocado chicken sandwich. I'll say my burger was a bit dry but overall very good.
