If I could give no stars I would feel better about this rating. Customer Service was terrible! I just stopped in the shop today about 20 minutes ago thinking it would be a good time to get some information on getting a simple scratch/minor dent fixed that in total was about 5'x5" on a rear fender. I parked my car on the curb directly in front of the shop. I will say that one of the repair men acknowledged me right away and pointed me towards to office door. Upon walking in no one said hi or made any attempt to make me feel welcome. I was greeted with a "yes?" My response was "I would like to get an estimate to have some minor repair work done on my car." I was then questioned with, "well do you want to make an appointment?" Which I thought was odd considering I was standing in front of him and my car was 10' away right outside the door of where he was sitting. There were no other customers anywhere to be seen nor were either of the two people working in this space on the phone. I always thought in business you would want to help your customers as quickly as possible and make it as easy for them as possible, clearly not the mindset in this business. He finally agreed to give me a verbal estimate but told me if I wanted a written estimate I would need to make an appointment and come back. Throughout this entire time he is acting very inconvenienced and rude. As were walking he questioned who would be paying and I responded with I will be paying. We walk the 10' out the door to the car and he say's "oh that's more than a scratch, it's a dent too and it will be over $1k." I was just shocked my the entire process, lack of professionalism and complete lack of customer service. Bottom line is I wanted an estimate to have my car fixed, I was excited to support a shop in my neighborhood but after this terrible experience I will steer clear and make sure my friends/neighbors do as well. read more

My car got broken into and everything from the radio to the panel that had the knobs for the AC controls got stolen. I sent my car to them with the recommendation of my insurance company. Looked at these reviews and I agreed. After about a couple weeks from receiving the initial estimate and dropping my car off, I received my car back from them. First of all the panel surrounding the trim has about a 1" noticeable scratch on the replacement panel. They also left cords from the old aftermarket stereo system, such as the iPod interface cord routed through the glove box and the GPS antenna wire. I decided to not complain due to the fact I was missing my car for a whole month to get my car fully fixed. I was able to remove the GPS cord by pulling, and I will just cut the iPod cable that is showing Apart from overlooking all the work that was wrongly done to my car, I noticed the top right corner of the panel is protruding up a bit due to what I think is a broken clip and can't be securely propped down. About a month or so, the lights that are supposed to illuminate from the panel when the headlights are turned on, either won't light up or have stopped lighting up. If you have any electrical work or interior work done to the car, I suggest you reconsider or try to look elsewhere. read more

Old Town Auto Body and Paint (OTABP) wants to sell you on their paint job, even if your car doesn't need it! I brought my car in to OTABP for an estimate in early April 2013, for a damaged bumper and trunk/luggage lid from backing into a fire hydrant at 5 mph in my parking lot. Over the phone, Old Town Auto Body and Paint gave me a ballpark estimate of about $1000 for the damage I described, and I advised that I would not be going through my insurance company. When I arrived there, after a half hour wait, I was shown a 3-page long estimate that recommended over 14 hrs of body labor, paint labor, paint supplies, and something "miscellaneous" called "remove and install vent glasses" that added another $162.50. The estimate came out to nearly $2400! I questioned why the estimate included:"blending" the rear left and rear right quarter panels, and "blending" the left and right roof rails. The estimator told me that the factory Honda paint that OTABSP would order would not "match" the other panels of the car and that they would have to custom blend all the back panels of the car to match the new bumper and luggage lid. I did NOT get this line of reasoning at 2 other body shops in the area! Upon further inspection of the written estimate, OTABP recommended replacing the right and left stone guards when there was nothing wrong with those parts of the car. And no, the other 2 auto body shops I have visited did NOT recommend replacing those undamaged parts either. Shopping around at other auto body shops, the same damage was estimated 3 days before to only need 6.2 hours of labor +paint and parts by Danny's Auto Body in Arlington, VA for $1400, and was estimated today (29 April) for only 8.4 hours of labor + paint and parts at Pohanka Collison, in Alexandria, VA for $1700! I was not born yesterday, am driving my second Honda Civic in 6 years, and have had other body work done on my first Honda, so I could tell Old Town Auto Body and Paint thought they could take advantage of me! Taking my vastly overinflated damage estimate in hand, I left and will NEVER give my business to Old Town Auto Body and Paint! read more

Do not go to this place if you value your vehicle at all. They have screwed the paint up on my one year old Honda CRV worse then it was before. I went to them to fix a deep scratch on the back end of my car. When I got the car back the first time the pin stripes down the side of the car in no way matched. So I left the car again, when I went back to get it they failed to finish pairing the inside of the door so I left it again. Now, five months later the paint on the back panel that they were supposed to fix has now bubbled up. I take great pride in my car and this company has screwed it up 100%. I would never tell anyone to go back to this place even if they were the only body repair shop left. My car is now more screwed up then it was before and will clearly never be the same. read more

After sideswiping a pole in a parking garage, I brought my new-ish car here after reading the positive reviews on yelp. The estimate was more expensive than the other place I checked out, but I thought it was worth the extra money. The work was great and their customer service reflected that they value your business. I'm still depressed after sideswiping a pole, but I should probably check out another type of business to help with that. read more

I recently hit a pole in my car and seeing the good reviews for this body shop, decided to take it there. The entire experience was, in a word, unsettling. From the moment I dropped it off and they had no idea who I was after having scheduled an estimate and later having scheduled the repair and confirmed three times to the moment I received the "repaired" car with the molding stuck on crooked, I just never really had any confidence in the Olde Town crew. To get your car repaired, you first have to schedule a time to get an estimate. After the estimate, you can schedule a time, generally two weeks later, to have your car repaired. Even with all the scheduling, it took them over a week to fix my fairly minor repair. Which is fine, but while they had my car for over a week, my odometer increased by several miles. After previously having such an experience, I took a picture of my odometer when I dropped off the car. The manager, when I asked where my car had been driven when I picked it up, immediately denied any driving and accused me of fabricating the picture I had taken of my odometer when I dropped the car off. After checking their intake records and my current odometer reading, he finally admitted that something had gone wrong. Where had the car been driven? He had no idea. While I was double checking for any damage that might have been done to the car while the body shop employees drove it to lunch, or to commit a crime, or who really knows, I noticed that the side molding that had been stuck on was coming off. After I pointed it out, they fixed it, but then it was slanting upward and crooked. So they fixed it again. While I waited for an hour. The same week that gave them time to drive my car around Alexandria hadn't given them enough time to fix it correctly. I guess it was fixed ok in the end, assuming the part that they kept gluing on actually stays, but I can't say that I am a fan of their customer service. If you don't mind your car being used for body shop employee errands while it's being fixed, then I might recommend this place. But if you do, make sure you double check their initial odometer reading. And might I suggest checking again before you pay for your repairs. read more

I've used this place twice. The first time I was referred by my own insurance, State Farms, and the guy in the office (co-owner?) was fairly rude, and just dismissive in general. Basically rolled his eyes at my car because it is older (though still in good shape) as if it was beneath him to work on an older car. Fast forward a year, and I was rear ended. USAA refers me to this shop again. I thought about saying no, because of my negative experience last time, but the work had been good. The day I was scheduled to bring the car in, it was snowing, so I called to reschedule. The guy on the phone (same gentleman) had exactly the same, "I can't be bothered with you," attitude on the phone. He took my name & number and was going to call me, "as soon as I am done with my customer." That was 3 hours ago. I'm guessing these guys get their business from insurance, because if it was based on customer service, I'm not sure they'd stay in business (at least if they treat others they way they treated me). To be fair to the guys in the back, the work looked really good--but customer service was pretty rude. read more

I had damage to my car caused by a moving company from Hawaii (dents & scratches, paint damage) and after struggling with the other party's insurance company, I was able to finalize bringing my car into Old Town Autobody. From the beginning (even before I had the insurance aspect settled) Irwin and Kevin were beyond helpful. Once the insurance portion was taken care of, I was able to drop my car off right away and they repaired everything within a great time frame! I had a great experience at this body shop. And I am your stereotypical woman-who-knows-nothing-about-cars. I had a dent in my front left fender, and my insurance company was not going to be covering the cost of repair. The guys at Old Towne Auto Body were actually quite sympathetic to my plight and worked to get the price down as low as possible. Ultimately, they were able to secure a used fender for me from a car identical to mine, saving me money in parts, paint and labor. They also turned the job around in less than 2 days! Best of all, when I went to pay the final bill, it came in at about half of the orginal estimate. My car looks brand new, and I could not be happier. I've received superior auto body service from Old Town Auto Body and Paint, whom performed an excellent job on both of my vehicles. This place is here to make sure your receive excellent service at a fair (more than fair) price. As a female this is important because often taking your car to shops you risk a large chance of being charged out of the window prices, but definitely not here. Kevin went above and beyond and took his time to ensure that my cars came out of the autobody shop better than I could have expected. Kevin is absolutely wonderful and I am so appreciative for the service I received. My car looks exactly like it did when it came off the show room floor. I took our brand-new SUV in after it was smashed into on Rock Creek Parkway less than two weeks after we bought it. At a time when my fiancee and I were distraught, the folks at OTAB were such a calming influence. They were very helpful and very thorough. A service writer - Dennis - walked around the vehicle with me to do a thorough evaluation. Another service writer - Dave - helped along the process, keeping me updated about the quote & repairs via phone. Both were very pleasant and forthcoming. We have State Farm, and OTAB is a authorized shop, so it was very easy. All we had to do was pay our deductible, and everything else was taken care of. They even left us a bottle of extra touch-up paint in the car. Best yet, they got the car back to us three days before they said they would. All in all, this literally was the best experience I've had at an auto repair shop. At the advice of a friend I took my car to these guys for Inspection after I felt like another garage (Prime Auto) was trying to rip me off. They certainly were! Olde Towne Auto Body quoted me a whopping $2000 less than the other place. That is a LOT of money! I felt like they were absolutely telling me the truth. I even asked about the brakes as the other garage had said I needed them replaced (that's scary!) and mechanic who was working on my car said they were perfectly fine and I wouldn't need to replace them for a while. I was in a car accident and had some significant damage to the front of my car. The gentlemen at Old Towne Auto Body were very helpful and timely. They made the whole process very easy. My car was fixed in the time that they said it would be and they even fit in some mechanical work without delaying the delivery date. The biggest surprise was when I got my car back and they had gone above and beyond to fix the mechanism on my electric drivers seat without saying a word about it or billing me for it. Big tree limb fell on my car...had some minor dents on the hood; sides of the car...big dents in the roof. My big problem with this place is they tend to "over promise" and under deliver. What they originally told me would be a 10 day repair job turned into a 30 day repair job. They were also a little slow in keeping me updated about the repairs. I made it clear with them I was not happy with their lack of communication and they acknowledged they could have done better. Once I got my car back it did look like new. If something happens again I would probably take it back but make clear from the get-go they had better keep me updated especially if there are unforseen delays for what ever reason. read more

Fantastic experience. I used them with USAA and my car was in and out in a week. During the process, I was texted the status of the repair and as the repair neared completion, I was called several times on the status. If you are dropping your car off on a Monday morning before work or anytime before 9am, be prepared to not be able to find a place to park along the road and have to do some shuffling to get into the office and start the process. Some guy drove right into me and shattered my front driver-side headlight...it caused paint, hood and bumper damage, too. After the debacle of trying to get the actual check from the company to pay for my repairs, I was finally able to take my car to Olde Town Auto Body and Paint. They let me come in for an estimate and said that it was accurate. I brought my car in two weeks later to drop it off for 9 days. When I came back to pick it up, it was beautiful. they matched the paint very well (my car is an interesting color), and they washed it up and wiped down the interior. I was very pleased. On top of that, they were super nice and, like most of these reviews say, I didn't get the feeling that they were ripping me off because I'm a female. When I picked up my car, they even drilled my front license plate on because the front of my car had no holes for it. It is exceptionally rare that I return home from anything - let alone something involving my car - being happy enough with my service to write a review. In fact, I don't believe that that has ever happened before today and my experience with Olde Towne Auto Body. I was referred here after an accident earlier in the year by my insurance, and since it was the closest place to my house, I went with it. There was a big debacle with my insurance company, and I ended up having to pay for a loaner car, so Dave made sure to keep me in the loop as much as possible during the entire process so that we could at least save me a little bit of money. The job was done on time, as he had said, but when I went through the exit inspection of the vehicle, there was a scratch that wasn't there beforehand. He jotted it down and said to come back when I had a day or two to leave it there and they'd fix it right up. I go home and a few days later I notice a small panel missing that I would have completely missed if I didn't park in a parking garage and have to walk by the front of my car sometimes. So that was a minor ding on the service, and had I just been basing my review off of this, they'd get a 3. HOWEVER. I procrastinated, and had work travel, and tons of other reasons to not be without my car for a few days, and so here it is almost 3 months later, and I called Dave up to fix those remaining issues, and he had me bring it in. Within a day and a half, they were able to fix all the issues, pop that missing piece back in, and not only that - they buffed out a scratch that (while I was 99% sure it was the same thing that scratched the back of my car) I hadn't noticed immediately and didn't have proof that it was from their activities. They gave me a loaner car to boot, which - while older and didn't quite spoil me as much as my car does - was reliable and clean. Dave gets absolute props from me - he is extremely professional and their shop does a great job. They went above and beyond, and I absolutely recommend them. read more

They work with insurance, provide an up-front estimate that does not change unless they let you know first, and do a beautiful job with repair and paint! It's sort of a secret place because of where it's located and I would not have known about it had I not been referred by someone in the glass business. I have this company repair damages caused by an accident and when I picked it up, the truck had new damages and the manager Erwin refuses to make the repairs. I just moved to the area and I had no clue where to take my car when someone knocked off the side mirror (I park on the street). This was a random find, and I went here because they happen to be certified by State Farm Insurance. They fixed my car inside the estimate given to them from the other insurance agency, ordered the part while I sat in the office, gave me their own estimate in under 5 minutes, and called me almost daily to update me on the status of the ordered part. I brought my car in at 7:30am (before work) and they called me at 9:30am to tell me it was ready for pickup. WOW! I didn't make it in until after 6pm, when I said oh yeah, can you check my tire, I think it has a nail in it. The guy from the front desk walked out himself, took my tire off, fixed a leak, and put it back on. NO CHARGE!!!! The mechanics are dedicated, work 5 days a week, 11 hours a day, and are very knowledgeable. You won't slip through as "just another customer". I walked into the office and the guy in front said, Hi Jackie, you're the Taurus, right? I felt very in-the-know with all the repairs going on (even though I know precisely enough about cars to screw the gas cap back on) and I got the truth about what was necessary for repair and what wasn't. I will be returning here until I move out of the metro area and I will be telling everyone I know how great Olde Towne Auto Body is (even if the spelling is weird)!! read more

Pros: really nice people, always very patient and thorough when you reach them, ultimately did a nice job on the car. Cons: took forever - quoted me ten days and it took a month, car was dirty when I picked it up, gas tank was empty, and the window trim on my passenger window seems loose whenever I drive on the highway or a windy day. Maybe they take on too many jobs at a time and are fine when they have a lighter workload, but I'd recommend taking your car elsewhere unless it's a quick fix and you have the time to follow-up daily to make sure it's finished on time. read more

Have to give a really big thumbs up to Old Town Auto Body. We have taken our cars there multiple time through our insurance for body work and they have always done an outstanding job. Several weeks ago our air conditioner went and our regular mechanic asked us if we had ever been in a front end accident, saying that an incorrect bolt was replaced that eventually punctured another part causing the air conditioner to fail. He saved the part so we could take it to Old Town Auto Body to ask them about it. We thought it was a total shot in the dark but we asked them if they would pay for the repairs since it was 100% caused by the incorrect part that was installed when we had repairs done following an accident. We dropped off the part, talked to the manager Erwin, and with no questions asked (after reviewing the situation including inspecting the part) sent us a check in the mail for the cost of the repairs. When it seems like its hard to find businesses that do the right thing, Old Town Auto Body really stands out in purposely choosing to do it right and honestly. read more

Had simple rear door damaged caused when a parking lot pole jump out at me. Had to make two trips to the body shop. Costa, a very through and helpful estimator with over 30 years experience, gave me a reasonable estimate on what it would cost to make it right but had I had to come back to the body shop to get an additional estimate from Andrew who was the only employee who could do USAA insurance estimates. Costa said the repair would be a little over $2,100 and Andrew said that his estimate would only give me a little over $1,400 to fix a lot less and do the job right. I could not get a straight answer from Andrew on what there warranty although he could have referred me to the USAA Star War Warranty Brochure. This whole business about getting a Preliminary Estimate and a Estimate of Record for the Insurance reminds me a chapter in the novel "Catch 22". Washington Consumer Checkbook does not give Olde Towne a top rating for either quality or for price. I am taking me work to Capital Auto Body of Fairfax which has received top ratings in quality and price. They also have given me a military discount and a thank you for my families and my service. read more

Holy negative reviews! I first came here because I moved to Alexandria, and needed to get my car inspected. We originally moved to Silver Spring from ATL, and when I took my car to get inspected in Maryland, they found 1,000 things wrong with my car. Yes, my car is an older car (2001). But, it's also a Honda Accord in excellent condition. I had new tires, and the Maryland inspector said I needed new tires. Seriously!?!? It worked out because we ended up breaking our lease, and moving to Virginia where it's greater! Anyways, I prepared myself for these guys to say I needed 1,001 things fixed with my Honda, and to my surprise as well as satisfaction- I got my inspection sticker and emissions certificate a mere 30 minutes of pulling in. I've been there two years since, and never have the worry and heartache about getting my car inspected. Plus, the inspection never takes more than 30 minutes of my time. They told me it's a great car, and to hold onto it. We just bought a new car, and I made sure to ask him were we making a smart purchase since it's not a Honda (we wanted something a bit better in the snow!) I didn't know they do oil changes, and the whole nine yards, but now we will be bringing BOTH our cars to Old Town Auto! read more
