Another lunch here with my fellow book clubers. I've the Mini Devil Crab, which has a little more than Devil Crab, the small plate. I also tried skipper's Cuban Sandwich - delish and it's my next lunch! Thanks  The best part is, we're seated in the middle of the room, facing the two tv monitors above the bar, both are turned to Wimbledon: left is Alcaraz def British Norrie (2,3,3), and right side monitor is showing Amanda Anisimova (2001-) defeating Anastasia "Nastia" Pavlyuchenkova (1991-) 6-1, 7-6 11:9 a tight second set. I watched AA's debut match at Roland Garros in 2019 - she was very shapely, sharp featured and moved like chetah. I instantly felt in love with her. ... then her father passed away and she dropped out of sight ... until 2021 when she lost to my other fave - Karolína Plíšková in the night match @ US Open. Normally I go with their Cuban sandwich because it's a favorite. Last night we decided to share 2 dishes we've never tried. We went with Papa's Meatloaf and the Shrimp Alajillo. Both were very good, the meatloaf in particular was delicious and unique. Definitely try the Caldo Gallego soup, and recommending the Flan as well. Perfection. Service was fantastic. Easy to find location with ample parking and seating both inside and out. The front house Staff greeted me immediately and I was sat immediately as well. Had a friendly waitress who was attentive and kind throughout my lunch. I had the black bean soup and Sal's with the homemade ranch, and homemade bread and butter they bring everyone when sat. All was flavorful and reasonably priced. I ended my lunch with the Texas sheet cake. It's a large serving, and comes warmed with ice cream. Nice mid-sized restaurant with Cuban-style food. The devil crab was large, meaty and tasty. The Ybor Salad was loaded with ham, salami, Swiss cheese, and green olives. The service was very fast and friendly. We even had two different waitresses who thought our table was in their section and came to take our drink orders. I'll probably come back again when I make my annual visit to the TECO Big Bend manatee viewing center, if they are still in business by then. My biggest concern for this business, believe it or not, was that it appeared substantially over-staffed. Someone scheduled far more wait staff than they really needed. That being said, all the servers were very nice, and they took our order and brought out the food quickly. Great for us. This is my third time visiting this restaurant. Each time i am impressed. There is no problem parking. We were seated quickly even though it was Sunday at noon. We ordered our food and it was served quickly. The service was terrific. (Until the hubby started feeling ill. It's a scam. The Spanish Potatoes are really just Potato Chips! If you don't ask, they won't tell you. When I said I wasn't going to eat potato chips for dinner, they wanted to "Up Charge" me for a different side. Very poor customer service. Also, the Clam Chowder had no Clams, only potatoes. I had the palomilla steak sandwich which I've had several times before (it was always great) and it was terrible. Greasy AF, pounded out paper thin to where all I could taste was greasy breading, definitely fried in under temp oil. They asked me over the phone if I wanted fries with the sand and I said yes thinking it was just the side with the sand but NO they charged me $3.95 for under cooked soggy fries, there were 11 fries total with the order.......what a joke!! A friend who was with me dining became a disgruntled human being and acted like a bitch to our server, hostess and the restaurant manager. She was sure there were onions in a dish even when assured there were none. The reaction of the entire staff was so very commendable. Well I ran across this place looking for a lunch spot. I'm Cuban and have eaten lots of Spanish food. The place was busy and I had high expectations for a place named Ybor Grill. But what I found was a place run by Riverview locals and frequented by Riverview locals. Ie: retired white people. Which is fine. Just don't expect REAL Spanish food here. Now in fairness I had a limited sample. The pork was meh, the black beans and rice were meh. And the garlic mashed needed salt and a new recipe. The people were nice and the service was excellent. Modern on the outside, quaint and Calle Ocho-ish (Little Havana in Miami) on the inside. Great Cuban cuisine with lots of selections. Everything was great tasting and enough for leftovers.
