We would give this higher stars if we could. Our server Alysa was amazing. She was very helpful knew the menu without hesitation and could give us well informed advice. At one point she came over and apologized for the wait for food which wasn't that long and said it would be out shortly. They have a limited wine choice - one brand for each kind. A decent beer selection plus a non alcohol option. I had the Picadillo which was amazing and my fiancé had the Shrimp Alajillo which she loved but commented was a little too garlicky. I also got the Bacon Cabbage which is to die for. They have outdoor seating but we sat inside. It was nice and relaxed inside and the music not over bearing. Nope. Hospitality was amazing, we felt right at home. Our server was amazing (Forgot her name), but she could be everyones Gma. That's how she treated us & our little one. This place is not fancy nor I have a say of authenticity but they have good food! Hands down. We ordered Merluza A La Rusa, was good. Moist & very flavorful. And Pollo Rioja, the sauce I can swim in anytime. Lol. It was that good. I think I ordered a cocktail. I forgot what it was & had also forgotten to take a picture, but it was also good (would have to visit again before we leave to refresh my memory). We were tossing coins between flan and guava cheesecake, and ended up with guess what? a Key lime pie (which was not on the menu). It was good, was suggested by our server. Modern on the outside, quaint and Calle Ocho-ish (Little Havana in Miami) on the inside. Great Cuban cuisine with lots of selections. Everything was great tasting and enough for leftovers. Staff was friendly and attentive. Service was quick. Restaurant is new, so small amount of patrons with easy in and out. I'll be back for sure. It was very much the cuisine I was craving. read more

I've been a long-time patron of Ybor Grille since their previous location off College. Sadly after today this will be my last time here. Today I attempted to place a to go order and was beside myself with how I was spoken too. The woman who answered the phone was short and immediately placed me on hold. No problem. When she came back she immediately said "what can I get for you", I replied "I would like to place a carryout order please", she replied "WHAT can I get for YOU" in a very rude, condescending, and hostile manner that was stunning. I was in such disbelief that I told her never mind and hung up. I realize people can have a bad day and give others the benefit of the doubt but this woman and her tone was beyond that. I lost my appetite and decided I will no longer be dining there. The quality of the food has fluctuated at times but not enough to where I wouldn't return. When I called my significant other to inform him of why I wouldn't be bringing home Ybor Grille he immediately knew the woman I was referring to as she had been rude to him in the past as well. Having this woman as the first interaction/impression with guests is risky and in this case, costs them a long-time loyal customer. I wish this restaurant the best. read more

We've been going to Ybor Grille on-and-off for more than 10 years. While eating a meal from Ybor Grille last week, my wife and I both agreed that the food is not as good as the past. We usually get carryout for dinner and eat in for lunch. They seem to have been consistently better in the rental location on Shell Point compared to the building they now own on 19th. Lunches are usually a half Cuban and caldo gallego or garbanzo soup. The homemade chips called Spanish potatoes here are very good. The grouper supreme is our favorite main. We used to enjoy the Ybor bowl, but they seem to have very little meat about half the time we order. The 'chopped' lettuce in bowls and salads is often amusingly large pieces. Ultimately the food preparation seems to lack oversight. When we complain about the food, we're usually told something about the chef who is 'new', or 'needs training' or 'doesn't care'. The location is convenient, but I will start trying alternatives. read more

We tried the rice bowls last week - I had the ropa vieja & while I'm not usually a huge rice fan I will be ordering this again. It was enough for lunch and a nice carry out portion to take home. Food was good. Drinks were tasty. Service was bad. Waitress was miserable. Never cracked a smile. We didn't get our bread, put condiments on table with a thump. We said thank you at least 50 times and never got a you're welcome in return. Asked for light beans and there was close to a pound of beans in my bowl. I absolutely loved this place! Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with my parents. The place wasn't too crowded. Maybe about 6-7 other tables of people. We were seated quickly and greeted politely by our waitress (who was out of this world!) Since it was our first time there, she walked us through the menu and offered us a few different suggestions. Our whole party ordered the Cuban sandwiches. My dad is a bit of a "Cuban Sandwich snob" and he said it might be one of the best he's had in a long time! He's only visiting for the week and said he wouldn't be surprised if he stopped there again for another sandwich. You could order Spanish Potatoes and a Pickle for an extra $2 (little bit pricey in my opinion) but they were delicious! So I didn't mind paying for them. Spanish Potatoes for those who don't know are just homemade chips! To me, homemade chips are usually a hit or a miss. And they were a hit here! (Food also came out super quick- maybe took 10 minutes max!) The Sangria was also a hit here! It was delicious. Almost asked if I could take a pitcher to go! For better Cuban food, I would suggest Little Habana Cafe off big bend road (15 minutes from here) Went with my husband to try this place out. We are relatively new to the area and have passed this multiple times wanting to try it out. It was such a disappointment. The inside is disgusting. Filthy vents, sticky tables, grime looking floors and just all around needs a good deep cleaning. I'm not sure how this place passes health inspections to be honest. The food served was not fresh or even to temperature. And the atmosphere including people appeared very dirty. For an appetizer, we ordered the papas relleno which was microwaved and not even heated all the way through. It probably was the best past of our dining experience and still sub par. The Cuban my husband ordered was the equivalent of dumping hillshire farms ham lunch meat on bread. It was definitely not a good Cuban. And for sure not "the best in Tampa" as they advertise. Not even the best in Ruskin lol. I ordered the "real grouper sandwich" which is pretty ironic because I'm 1000% sure I got a frozen cod or other white fish of some sort. The fish part itself tasted like it was either frozen and reheated in a microwave or like they fried it and then froze it and reheated it. Like soggy reheated breading. Gross. Our first time here and my husband ordered yellow rice and chicken with mashed potatoes. I ordered a tastes of Ybor with yellow rice and plantains. After my husband started eating his food, he found a hair on his chicken. It belonged to the server. We let the waitress know and she brought him new food and apologized. The food was too much so eat so we asked for to go containers. When I began putting the plantains into the container, their was someone's eyelash in the dish. This made me so sick. I requested to speak with a manager about it. The manager came and apologized. At first, we were only going to have to pay for my meal but then he returned and said we did not have to pay at all. He asked us to give them another chance and come back. In any case, I won't be back. Hair in both meals. That is really gross and made me nauseous and throw up. I didn't see anyone's hair covered. Not a whole lot of places in Ruskin that are amazing but this place is a sweet little gem. Not far from my Ruskin office it's my go to place for lunch. Classic Cuban food, fresh soups made daily. The homemade claim chowder is to die for when they have it. The Cuban is just amazing and their Ybor salad is close to the classic Columbia 1905 salad. I add grilled shrimp to give it just a little more. Service is always warm and welcoming and the food comes out within 10 minutes of ordering. I have visited Ybpr Grille 3 times (you can't base your opinion on a single visit) and sadly it went from bad to worse. The quality of the food is absolutely terrible, and the service has you asking if the servers are doing drugs in the bathroom. Great joint. They have all types of Cuban food to offer. Their claim to fame is their crab rolls. They are good. Not the best, but #2 for sure. My wife had a mixed bowl and enjoyed it also. Daughter treated me to lunch at Ybor Grille in Ruskin FL yesterday. She had a Cuban, we split the mini potato balls and I had a small Ybor Salad which really is filling. The vinaigrette dressing is very good. We got a Deviled Crab to go for my honey and took it home to him. He really enjoyed it and we managed to save 3 potato balls for him as well. We were there at lunchtime on a Tuesday and were seated right away. There was plenty of people already there. The outside screened porch had a couple folks eating lunch. Our server was awesome.
