Ralph showed up to our agreed appointment time late two weeks in a row. Last week he came to change the vent on the dryer, and stated that my gas pipes will also need to be replaced while providing me with a quote. He came back this week and instead of replacing the gas pipes, he stated that it does not need to be replaced after all and proceeds to just secure it and changing only the gas valve and charging me more than what was quoted last week. There is a reason he has multiple one star reviews and complaints. Stay away. read more

He abandoned the job after delivering the gas log kit because he lost a day's income due to the interior painting being done at the house. Guilty as charged Ralph, but sometimes in business you just push through it and do the right thing. Our dryer wasn't heating normally. It had been backed up with lint from our initial screen all the way into the vent system (exhaust duct) that leads to the outside of our condo. We had heard that a chimney sweep would be necessary to unclog the dryer in order for the dryer to work properly again. So...what did we do? We searched on Yelp to find the best local chimney sweep. The reviews we saw were great giving it a 5 star rating. Even though they could not get to us until a week later, because of the great reviews, we were willing to wait and sacrifice not doing laundry for a week. Well......LIttle did we know that we almost died one night (middle of the night) after discovering that the chimney sweep had not reconnected the duct from the dryer after cleaning the lint, causing gas and carbon monoxide into the house. Last time I checked....this is a serious Issue no matter how you look at it. Now... I just would like to say that I don't have a great sense of smell whatsoever but, as I was approaching the stairs where the washer and dryer was located, I was struck by light headiness, stinging of my nose, and watery eyes from the gas. I'm not going to even mention how long it took the fire department and the gas specialist to make sure everything was safe. We had called the chimney sweep explaining our concern about his negligence and the CHIMNEY GUY had unapologetically said " I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do" We had paid for a service that nearly killed us and he couldn't do anything for us? Not only that, before we could finish explaining how we felt, he hung up on us. It is one thing to not be able to accommodate for a service that already took place but, it is another to not even hear what we had to say. VERY VERY RUDE! I don't care if you are extremely busy or not! THis is why this place gets 1 Star when they could have easily got a 4 or 5 star. IF a company doesn't put safety first, and want to learn from their mistakes, I question their work ethics. Never again will we ever do business with this company again. read more

Ralph is the best!!! Very honest and knowledgeable. One chimney company quoted $30,000 to "replace" a chimney that didn't need to be replaced. Ralph came and looked at it and fixed it for $100. Be careful there are a lot of chimney crooks out there but Ralph is one of the few honest and reliable guys out there. read more

Ralph was very courteous and clean! Chimneys can be a very messy and dusty but he took all possible ways to keep the house clean and appear that he was never there. He was on time, even having to travel on the infamous 91 frwy. He explains everything to the homeowner so they feel comfortable with the job( which I was glad for since he was fixing my gas fireplace) Most importantly, he was honest, we previously had a chimney sweep come out and they only did a level 1 inspection, upon the level 1 inspection, I was told that the job would cost $17,000 to fix. I called Ralph a couple years later and he did a LEVEL 2 inspection, he told me that he could do it safely for under $500 dollars. There were no hidden charges, all was above board. I explained to him this is how i got it and I just need someone to inspect it. all what I got is just his talk and insisted on the $100 inspection fee for nothing!!! that was unethical! We were so glad to find Ye Olde Chimney Co. on Yelp! We just purchased a house and the fireplaces looked very used and in need of cleaning. Ralph showed up on time! He was even dressed like an old time chimney sweep in top hat and coattails. This company came out to clean two chimneys in my rental units. Ralph claims that his equipment "malfunctioned" and pumped the soot into the house. It was in the air ducts, floors, walls, ceilings, and throughout my tenants personal belongings. It took over a week for Serv Pro to clean up the mess Ralph caused. The best part...his horrible State Farm Insurance said they would not cover the incident. I had to write letters and threaten a lawsuit to get them to cover part of the $10,000+ worth of damage that Ralph caused to my rental unit. After all this, Ralph still wants to get paid for services. Unbelievable! read more

First off if we could give negative stars I would. This has been an extremely, annoying, bad, terrible experience. I would like to warn others to stay away from this business. Unless of course you would like high stress levels after a long day at work. So it all started because our new dryer wasn't drying properly. So, after the Lowe's technician, courteous man by the way, unlike uhum... any way back to the story, came to check out the problem. He recognized the problem after unhooking the dryer and looking into the vent/duct (or whatever) where the heat will escape. This was clogged and dirty so he recommended I call a Chimney Sweep, so of course I logged on to Yelp to check out the local options. Low and behold a few minutes after searching, a couple of calls later I came across this company.... :/ After calling in and getting a nice sounding man on the line who appeared to understand the problem I was having said it was an easy fix (yeah right). Said that usually the price was more but since it's not an issue would come by for $100 cash... (ok I should've known here) and he come by the next day, huh that's nice next day, ok so I agreed lets get this dryer duct clean so I can do some laundry. The call ended and I went into work with no worries what so ever thinking done and done. So, the next day the chimney (cheat, unknowingly at this point of the day) comes by and I having left someone at the house to keep an eye on things, inspects our house...what... ? I called for a chimney sweep to clean a dryer duct.... (strike 1). Ok here I am at work, getting a call saying that this chimney sweep took my $100 to perform a job that wasn't even what I paid for! (strike 2) and, and, he scheduled a second job that would cost 5 times that amount to take care of a few other "red flagged" concerns, which by the way were not concerns that any other company that came by the house to check out the house when we bought it a few months ago... (strike 3). All I'm saying is be careful with this company that obviously is in the business of cheating women, or honest, trusting people like me who trust a business to come in do what we paid for with good customer service ethics. It's sad to say it's hard to find an honest business'. Well I hope this is useful to some of you. In closing, I called and cancelled the second job this company was supposed to perform and hired a much more trustworthy company to clean the dryer duct. read more

He will give you a "chimney 101" to make sure you know what your doing when operating your fireplace and to help you avoid costly repairs. He even provides this info on his website and hands you a brochure with reading material. He'll offer to answer any questions you may have and will answer them thoroughly. Our home was left clean and without a smell. And he even shows up in the classic Mary Poppins chimney sweep outfit...with the stove hat and penguin tails! You may think it's a bit tacky but he certainly plays the part. He does magic tricks too...and plays guitar...and speaks seven languages... : ) read more

I hired Ralph to do a chimney inspection for a house I am buying. I was initially impressed by Ralph during the inspection, he was on time conscientious and explained everything. Based on Ralph's recommendation and estimate, I requested that the seller install a smoke guard in one of the fireplaces in the house and make other minor repairs. The seller agreed and actually hired Ralph to do the work. When I saw the work that Ralph did on the smoke guard I was really disappointed, the guard looks jagged and uneven and is made of really flimsy metal. The caulking around it is also really messy and done poorly. The result is that the smoke guard looks like an amateur job and makes ugly what was a beautiful fireplace. My fiance and I contacted Ralph about the job he did and he claimed he only did what was needed for the fireplace to pass inspection. To date he has not responded to my requests for estimates on how much it would cost to repair the smoke guard. Overall, I am very disappointed by his service and would not recommend him to anyone. read more

Ralph was fantastic!! We are selling our house and needed an inspection. After getting two quotes from other companies its amazing the difference of opinion. Ours varied from a high of $5200.00 to $ 500.00. We decided to have the work done for $500.00 but the individual never showed. Desperate to get an inspection for escrow we contacted Ralph and he was able to provide same day service!! He gave us a 2 hour level 2 inspection as well as made minor repairs needed for $ 250.00 !!
