I really appreciated the effort they made to reach out, invite me back and try to make things right. During this visit, the service was much better and the staff were very accommodating and attentive throughout the meal. Food was delicious as always. I tried the laksa broth for the first time and it instantly became one of my favourites super rich, flavourful and comforting without being too heavy. Everything we ordered was tasty, which reminded me why I've always enjoyed Haidilao so much in the first place

I think their English was a bit limited but we made it work! The food was delicious and what I expected from a Hai di lao. They also have AYCE and meal combo promotions that I have to try! Standard sauce bar, lots of freebie snackies and mints. I loved the triangle-shaped crackers that they have available on the first floor upon entry! They also gave me a free packet of tomato soup for saying the phrase "I love your soup!" I forgot we couldn't bring liquids on flights so hopefully a hotel staff got to enjoy the abandoned tomato soup! :p

*4.5* stars This…read morerestaurant has a very unique taste and dishes that aren't really seen anywhere else in the KW region (not that I'm aware of at least!) I saw it on Ubereats and saw there was a BOGO going on so I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised at the complexity and variety of dishes they had! If you crave Asian food, I definitely recommend this place. This place seems to primarily be for hotpot, but I can understand with covid it's harder to see that side right now. Nonetheless, they have many options outside their hotpot as well. I got the seafood with vermecilli noodles for my partner and a Mala spice with fish noodles for myself. The beef pho was a BOGO option so I got them for tomorrow's meal. (the BOGO list was quite limited). They were delicious and I found the portion sizing to be quite nice! The soup was very very flavorful and hits the spot. Again something that I haven't found in the KW area at all until now and would crave (since it can be found commonly back home in Toronto) Packaging, wait time and everything was fine. Why it's not a perfect score is because of its price point. It's a lot pricier than some other places. Their primary feature is hotpot and noodles. The hotpot options seemed fairly nice but there's also a few other hotpot places just around the corner too. With the noodles, you can get the same large portion (but different noodle type, same richness in broth though) for half the price that they set it at here. I personally see this place as somewhere I'd get ever so often, or special occasions only. For student prices, I'd probably look to go elsewhere. However, you can't deny how good their broth is, so it's not a big enough deal to knock off a star completely.

Hotpot: I really like the diverse amount of hotpot broth options to choose from. Great amount of meat options, veggies and side dishes. The beef was decent quality. A great bonus that this place is fully halal. Definitely be more careful with the portions as it does get easy to order more than you expected. It was a good experience - wasn't anything too fancy in particular but great spot to go with friends. It wasn't too crowded during early afternoon hours on a weekend, so there was no need to make a reservation.

For the price I found it quite acceptable for one person to go in for lunch, with the only caveat being that it does take quite a while to finish a meal and it's not practical to rush something like this. Great service! Even though there were only a handful of people in the place, I didn't feel abandoned during my meal and there were no lulls in the routine. All the ingredients were fresh and the condiments stand had very interesting ingredients to add, although I wish there was a better explanation as to what they were. Solving that confusion would help to make a place like this more accessible to people not familiar with Hot Pot restaurants. Recommended for both noobs and experienced hot potters!!

So, how this works is you get your pot/bowl, get the ingredients you want first, they scale your bowl on how much to charge you, then you select your broth. I didn't want to die that night, so I got the Collagen Bone Broth. Very simple! You can also make your own dipping sauce on the side which made it very convenient if you got a simple broth like me. Restaurant is very modern and hip. I love how things were kept clean, such as the table, floor, stations to get your sauce. We ended with getting the matcha ice cream which was really good! Highly recommend this spot, for sureeee!

I have been to a few malatang and I had high hopes for this one... it did not meet my expectations…read more I joined the waitlist and got called when my table was ready. The area to pick up a bowl was hectic. Very crowded space between picking ingredients and paying. You don't get a table until you pick up your bowl + paid. Everything was just stressful - lots of people, I am in my bulky jacket, holding my purse, etc. The food took some time to come out. Probably around 30 minutes... Ingredients were missing from some of our bowls. And some of the stuff was overcooked. The kimchi soup also had little soup and was very thick??? All the soups were salty but not particularly fragrant or super flavourful. As someone who loves soup noodles, I was not impressed. The best part of the meal was the ice cream. They had a seasonal flavour, ube, which was good but on the sweeter side. The matcha ice cream was great - and my favourite part of my meal. Our bowls ranged from $18 to $30 per a bowl. It's an additional $2 to add cheese and $3 do a bowl of rice. The restaurant can get very busy on a weekend evening, and noisy!
