Broad Axe - Buffalo Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries. Spicy and good!

I love fried chicken sandwiches, and I love crabcakes, so the Chesapeake Sandwich jumped out the menu--a combo sandwich of both!... and $15? Sign me up. The chicken was super moist on the inside, crispy and well seasoned on the outside. The crabcake was almost all crabmeat as well, which was delicious! My wife got a chicken taco salad, which came in a tortilla bowl and was also very good (with very well cooked chicken on top). My only complaint: the fries were a bit under-done. They also do 5oz samples of beer on draft, which was very nice for when you don't want a whole drink.

These wings were no joke, I did the buffalo wild wings inferno challenge twice without milk, it took 3 cups of milk to get through 5 of the 8 and I tapped out. The thing is, they aren't JUST insanely hot, they are also INSANELY flavorful. Hotheads eat your heart out, order these and you will not be disappointed. These 100% need to be a challenge. 8 in 10 minutes, no milk? The wings at Buffalo wild wings look like they were taken from baby chicks in comparison to what I got. Contact me when they become a challenge, I will gladly make the 1 hour drive to try it out, even if I fail!

The crab cakes had little to no filler, perfect portion and were absolutely amazing. The staff is very friendly and ensure every customer has a good experience, the cooks can accommodate gluten free, vegan, or any changes to food/drinks. The cooks and bartenders for sure know what they're doing. I've been two times now and both times were perfect, totally forgot to get pictures of the last burgers sadly but they were delicious. Even my picky partner loves going which says a lot !!

The menu focuses on classic American bar food -- burgers, wings, and familiar favorites -- and everything we had was well prepared and satisfying. It's not trying to be flashy, just consistently good. What really sets this place apart is the service. That kind of hands-on management shows and elevates the entire visit. Whether you're exploring the area for the first time or just looking for an easy, no-stress spot to grab a meal, Rumsey Tavern is a dependable option. As we sat and waited forever for our food we saw reserved signs all around us. Seemed like an event was going on. The tavern filled up and everyone was staring at us like we weren't supposed to be there including the staff. Our hostess seated us at a round table toward the back. It was quite obvious they needed more seats and it was awkward even sitting there. Food was ok. Fryer oil tasted old. $25 for crab Mac and cheese that had a slight hint of a crab taste. Ordered a medium burger and it was well done. Ordered a pretzel with cheese sauce and the cheese was off color/old/ burnt. The deviled eggs were fantastic. When we finished our dinner we were waiting to see a waiter to get the check and no one was available so I walked up to the bar and paid. After i paid the hostess put a reserved sign on our table while we were sitting there and said "no rush" I don't usually write reviews. But I wanted to have a nice night with my wife and daughter and it was ruined

The drinks were affordable and strong, which was a definite plus. However, my main issue with The Lodge is the seating situation near the stage. If you're sitting in front, be prepared for people to stand directly in front of you during the drag show. I would've preferred if the drag queens, owner, or even security had stepped in to ask them to move. It was frustrating to have 6-foot-tall, 300-pound women completely block our view--especially after paying $18 per ticket. Also, watch out for this one wild white lady in a black shirt and floral shorts who acts invisible and blocks multiple people. If you ask her politely to move, she'll argue with you and even try to escalate things by telling you to "step outside" like she's about that life. Overall, for our first drag show, we had fun--but if you're going to enjoy the performance, be ready to be annoyed because no one there is enforcing basic courtesy or crowd control. Yes this is coming from the gorgeous black queen with the pink/purple hair

Looking for great house music, cheap drinks, and a small town vibe that still has a piece of metropolitan life? Go to the Lodge. The drag queens are fab and super sweet and all about the jello shots lol. My wife and I went and had a great time though it was sleepier than we remembered it. Fair warning it is located in an area that's very dark at night so be on high alert. If coming from Hagerstown it will be on your left, if Frederick your right.
