I asked for one of the most popular flavors when it came to their iced coffees and was recommended with their Cookie monster which had cookie butter sauce, can't say no to that. They have alcoholic beverages as well, I think food too, but I didn't really look much into that. We drove from southern RI to visit this amazing bar, after stumbling upon an instagram post. The vibe is very relaxed, lending itself to the concept of a coffee and espresso martini bar. The martinis are each made by hand, which does mean there can be a little bit of a wait when you order, but trust me. THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT. I have heard a ton about this place through Instagram and my fellow Yelpers and knew I wanted to try this place when I was in the area. Yellow King Brews had a booth set up during "Celebrate Wallingford" and we stopped by and asked how far the actual cafe/brewery was and the lovely people at the booth gave us some coupons so we had to go! The cafe/brewery has tons of seating - whether you want a comfy couch, some high top seats or sit at the bar. There are tons of drink options which is a little overwhelming but only because you may want everything! I wanted to try a flight of coffees but unfortunately it was towards the end of the night and they were out of some of the main ingredients. I opted for a seasonal drink called the campfire cold brew which was filed with frangelico, Jim beam vanilla, Godiva chocolate, and cold brew and topped with a lovely charred marshmallow. I had the King's Mountain, which was vanilla cold brew with cinnamon and white chocolate cold foam, and guys, this was the best cold foam I've ever had in the US. Texture was perfect and flavor was just right (I had specifically asked if it was super white-chocolatey since I'm not a huge fan of that, and the barista assured me it wasn't and she was right!). The cold brew itself was so smooth and drinkable, I would have grabbed a growler of it but we were on our way to Boston and I had no way to refrigerate it when we got there. How cool is this place?! Love all of the colorful, spooky artwork and the garage door. I would hang out here all the time if it was closer. I saw that they have events like trivia and live bands, which is awesome. I went to Yellow King Brews for the first time and I'm already hooked! Their menu is a really cool combination of coffee, teas, and cocktails. I'd say it's more of a bar than a coffee shop. I first tried their Italian Ice Lemonade, which is lemonade topped with vanilla cold foam. So delicious and refreshing! And not too sweet either. Next I ordered the Fall Flight, which came with five small glasses of different iced coffee drinks. My favorite was called "Pumpkin Dreams" and consisted of a house-made pumpkin sauce shaken with Jambi Cold Brew topped with pumpkin cold foam and spice. If you're looking for a great fall drink, this is it! They also have an extensive menu of other seasonal coffee drinks, as well as teas, lemonades, hot chocolate, lattes, cold brews, espresso, espresso martini flights, and cocktails. There's a limited food menu with egg sandwiches, pizza, stuffed breads, nachos, donuts, pastries, etc. The vibe was really cool inside, with a bar counter to sit at and tables/booths, as well as a couple couches. Omg!!! My new favorite place!! Went for the release of their holiday espresso martini flight. Big open space lots of tables for groups. But get there early. It gets packed. Very loud, nothing to soften the chatter going on at every table. Not to mention the staff yelling the names of the people waiting for their flights. Was invited to go to Yellow King to see Boondocks, a country band. I didn't hesitate with a yes answer. Not a country music fan but do enjoy Yellow King. Today I tried their mixed drinks. I had the City Vice ( vodka, pineapple lemonade mix and mixed berry purée). Very good and very dangerous, can't taste the alcohol, drank it fast! The facility has plenty of space for a band with good acoustics. Room for dancing, if you wish. One concern was the room's temperature. IT WAS HOT!! That's what I usually think of when I hear "Yellow King", although I understand the Wallingford Yellow King Brews owners were alluding to a literary Yellow King. I watch TV. They read. In any event, after visiting this week, I'm now at least as likely to think of the Wallingford coffee shop when I hear Yellow King. I was in Wallingford for unrelated reasons this weekend. Many of my Foodie Friends have recently posted Yellow King Instagram and/or Yelp content and I rarely miss a cool coffee shop opportunity when I'm in a new town. I was impressed. The inside was big, with high ceilings and lots of seating. The decor has kind of an artsy, industrial, octopus vibe (Yes. I'm being serious). Service was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the "Wake N Bake" Cold Brew. An appropriate choice given the temporal proximity to 4/20, and ironic, because I am not a pot smoker (but no judgment ). I added a White Chocolate, Cinnamon Cold Foam that Yellow King had working. The cold brew had layers of a house blend and an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (which is a common coffee for me). I'm normally a black iced coffee drinker, but this drink really worked for me. It wasn't too sweet, but the cold foam added just the right amount of flavor. Among their other offerings, Yellow King has a variety of Donut Crazy donuts -- I assume from the New Haven DC. I tried the Cookie Monster, with it's blue and white stripes and cookie pieces. It looked fantastic, and tasted good. Although I was there in the morning for coffee, I understand from friends that they serve craft beer and cocktails as well. They also have game nights. Oh man, is this my new favorite coffee spot? It very well may be! First of all, the vibe is spot on. You can sit at picnic style tables, comfy arm chairs, barrel style tables or bar seating. Super fun decor on the walls. Plenty of TVs showing various sports. Definitely a family friendly environment; every time I've been there I've seen kids having a blast. Today was my third visit to this business, and they each been good. Today, a friend and I tried their coffee flights. The five coffees were seasonal. This flight cost $20. I liked four out of the five coffees. After our flight we each ordered one coffee -based cocktail. Our final bill was $36 each plus gratuity. I really like the space. There is plenty of room to sit, and this includes tall tables, picnic table style seats, and couches. In the far corner, there is a bar where one can order beers. I ordered a seasonal candy cane cocktail and my friend ordered a banana moonshine one that she saw on Instagram. They are very desert-like, but tasty. They have trivia nights and happy hours, and those sound fun - the happy hour specials sound pretty good, and I'll have to remember to return for that. They do have food that you can order (pretzels, pizza, stuffed breads), but we didn't get anything this time. I ordered a stuffed bread last visit, and it was good! After an intense hike my friend and I needed somewhere to cool off and enjoy a cool coffee. It turned out that Yellow King Brews was only a short drive away. Here you can get a freshly brewed coffee, a craft beer or a handmade cocktail. This space is so inviting and colorful inside. There is a painting of what looks to be an octopus, maybe giving the impression that this place is the Jack of all trades. They have a very large menu, basically floor to ceiling menu of all of their coffee goods. I decided to go with King Wylde N Nutty, off their blended iced coffee menu. This is a fun one, it's got white chocolate, peanut butter and bananas. Yum! I also got their stuffed bread in buffalo chicken. The coffee was delightful! It was smooth, and creamy, but I could for sure taste the banana and the peanut butter. The balance of these ingredients was just perfect! The stuffed bread was the perfect lunch for me. I'll be honest I don't know that my banana and peanut butter coffee goes well with the buffalo chicken, but I did it anyway! The stuffed bread was about the size of a small pizza. Yellow King Brews (YKB) is in a plaza with a produce market, a gym, and a couple of small specialty businesses. The exterior has patio seating with a roll up garage style door and a traditional glass door. The patio is small, four round four tops and two picnic tables, and co rained by a fence. Inside is intentionally shadowy with an epic painting covering the left hand wall. The "bar" is a straight walk from the front door, with patrons requesting alcoholic drinks directed around the side. Seating inside is a mix of high tops around kegs, picnic tables, plush seating with low tables and traditional high tops. There is a couch beside a bookshelf full of surprisingly good board games in one corner. We had egg sandwiches and a flight of iced coffees. Both were outstanding. Service was subdued and friendly. The menu is available both with a QR code, a chalkboard on the wall, and very neat wooden menu holders. The feel is of a pirate ship but the coffee rivals 5th avenue specialty shops. Yellow King Brews is a gourmet coffee, craft beer and cocktail bar that opened in Wallingford, Connecticut in February 2022. It was founded by Rob Vitale and Shama Khan. The couple founded the brand in 2018 and chose the name 'Yellow King' in reference to the Robert Chambers horror anthology "The King in Yellow" which they are both fans of. Initially they sold their gourmet coffee at various farm markets and other various local events. Finally, they decided to open a brick & mortar location where they would combine the concept of a gourmet coffee house with the atmosphere of a craft brewery taproom. I stopped in at Yellow King Brews on Wednesday afternoon after I finished work for the day. The interior of the place looked amazing; really cool art work! Even though they are a gourmet coffee house, I felt like I was at a brewery taproom (especially with tables made from cable spools and wooden beer barrels). I've actually known Rob and Shama for some time; they are good friends with my brother. They have an extensive menu of various hot coffee & tea drinks, cold brew coffee, coffee specialty drinks, espresso martini and other coffee cocktails, and 16 draught lines of Connecticut craft beer. For food, they feature snacks from the Drunk Alpaca, bagels from Bagelicious, donuts from Donut Crazy, and pizza from Zuppardi's. I started off my visit with the "Cookie Monster": a specialty cold brew latte made with whipped cream and blue cookie butter. It tasted as good as it looked! Up next was the "Spiked Wylde & Nutty": a specialty cold brew latte made with white chocolate, peanut butter and Ole Smoky Peanut Butter Whiskey. It was delicious! For my last drink of the visit, I couldn't say no to a Coffee Old Fashioned: made with Jefferson's Bourbon infused with their coffee and garnished with a luxardo cherry. It was fantastic! Traveled from New Jersey 3.5 hours for the flights which did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, super chills and nice staff. We went about 2:00pm and it was great, not too crowded. They had different card games and board games you could play along with more drinks than you can imagine. One of the coolest places I have ever been!! The concept is so great, a brewery/bar/coffee shop that is open late. Ive been wanting something exactly like this. I love the open doors that get some air flow in there too, get some light into an otherwise dark place. There's tons of seating. The decor is so cool. Staff is friendly. The bar staff seemed a little overwhelmed and it was hard to order with people sitting at the bar (no open space to get your order in!) but my ordering coffee at that counter was super easy with tons of options. I got a banana cream coffee, I didn't think it had any banana flavor but the actual coffee was really good. I would want to try more options, there are so many. They even have coffee flights which would be a good idea to share with a friend. I hope to return to try their snack options too, I saw .. stuffed breads (random) and baked goods at the counter that stood out to me. read more

Just met up with a friend for a few beers and a pizza. Cute little spot with good selection of beers and really good variety of coffee drinks with and without alcohol. Pizza was ok, nothing to rave about but went well with beers. Cool trendy vibes as a chill out spot. read more
