Another 5 star experience. We orders several rolls and not a single one disappointed. We ended up taking food home and my son gobbles it down a few hours later. Our waitress was really good and attentive. We came on Mother's Day after church but it was wasn't super busy because we were there before they opened. There was line starting to form. But we made it inside right away. As it began to fill up, the staff kept up with the demand of the orders and everything came out fresh. We have been coming here for years. Appreciate how despite their growth/success their prices remain reasonable. Their specials are definitely a highlight. We had never had the don't cry roll until recently. Such a highlight of the menu. The spicy sauce is delicious and is balanced very well by the tomato and avocado. I stopped by at Yen Sushi and this place never disappoints! Everything is always so yummy. I love the vibes in here. I also love you can see the sushi bar when you walk in and you can sit by it and watch them get to work on the sushi making! It's pretty cool. The service is always good when I stop by. My friend got the fried shrimp appetizer and she loved it! We both also got the chicken teriyaki bowl with rice and omg soooo good! Their teriyaki sauce is so heavenly! I always ask for extra cause it's that darn good!! My son got the beef teriyaki bowl and wow his looked and tasted amazing! Definitely gonna get that next time! We decided on this place for our monthly girl dinner. Got there at 6 pm. We got sat right away. Drink order right away. We took a few to look at the menu. It was a bit hectic because it did not seem there was one waitress more like everyone helped everyone. We put our order in and that took about 40 minutes to get the sushi. Which was a bit long. But the food was very good. I got the yellow tail sashimi , the baked scallop roll and the yellow tail scallion roll. All so very good. My wife and I are regular customers at this location. We have never had issues with the service or the food. However, today we asked to sit where we have sat many times before. The staff was reluctant but sat us there. Then another staff member asked us to to move again. We order rolls and an entree. Which is why we need the larger table. They asked us to move to another 4 top because, they might need this one for a bigger party. This was because they had a 2 top next to our 4 top. They could have easily moved the small 2 top next to us to another area for a larger party. It was unnecessary for them to make this an issue after we had already been sat. A wide variety of sushi options is what drew us to this sushi restaurant. The sushi prices were very reasonable and while we carefully looked for rolls that did not include "crabmix" we made sure by asking the server to ensure that none of the 5 rolls we ordered had imitation crab and in fact one of the rolls contained imitation crab even though it was not listed on the menu. With the notation by the server we received the roll sans imitation crab and it was very fresh and tasty. All of the fish was very fresh and the rolls were prepared like works of art. Lastly, a number of items we ordered were reduced for happy hour but we were never provided with a happy hour menu so our reduced bill was a pleasant surprise. The recent 1 star reviews left me very worried as this place is a long established neighborhood favorite for myself and many others. It has been several years since my last visit and I was very much missing it. I took a leap of faith and hubby and I had our anniversary dinner here last night. It was so good and I'm relieved it went so well for our special meal. Our order consisted of miso soup and chicken curry rice for hubby and baby octopus and chicken curry udon for myself. Miso soup was standard and the baby octopus was borderline tough with too much breading for my liking. Our curries were excellent and something we would both order on a regular basis. Service was pleasant and our items came out at a good pace. We got in at a really good time at 5pm before the dinner rush. It quickly filled up after we sat down at our table. This is a great place for families and getting together with friends. It will be tough to have a quiet, romantic meal as this place isn't really built for that but I still very much recommend this for a date night. The staff was really friendly and helpful, especially considering my friend's son can be a picky eater. He tried a sushi roll but didn't like it. He then ordered a tempura udon without tempura () but our waitress didn't have any issues. He ended up with a noodle soup he really liked and ate most of it. A win is a win am I right? The portion sizes were huge! The spare ribs were delicious and caramelized. The Arizona roll was very tasty with jalapeño inside and sweet sauces on top. I loved the sauces I dipped my other roll in it! The other sushi roll I forget the name of. It came with a huge pile of tempura jalapeños on top! This was a big hit. Accidentally came across this place while across the street at CocoShack. I was craving handrolls and looked up on yelp where I could get some and Yen Sushi popped up. We ordered some handrolls to go and while inside waiting for our food, the place looked jammin' so we said we needed to come back sometime for dinner. Last week the hubs and I came back for dinner. The service was great, the food was fantastic and the price was very reasonable. We ordered a few handrolls which were huge and delicious, baked mussels, salmon sashimi, miso soup, scallop volcano roll and the crazy boy roll (which was my favorite!). I'm 2 weeks past my gastric sleeve and I'm sorry trying to take in small portions of food and I figured I don't think there's anything much smaller than sushi. The restaurant was really nice as far as the ambience and the staff. They have a really nice open sushi bar as soon as you come in. I ordered the shrimp shamai for appetizer and it was so very good and soft and chewable and made my stomach happy. The chicken teriyaki was really tasty but it was still a little rough on the stomach so I didn't need a whole lot of it but it was really good and I didn't get to eat any of the rolls unfortunately that came with it. Losing 80% of your stomach definitely Alters your eating habits and these reviews are going to be bits and pieces of what I order at these different establishments going forward. My wife who is Filipino and my family been coming to Yen for years. We love the fresh fish and sitting at the sushi bar watching the Sushi Chefs prepare beautiful foods of Art! Since I am a Chef personally this is quite special to me and I understand! We tried most recently their Chirashizushi bowl that is loaded with fresh sashimi fish, egg, crabstick, etc beautifully arranged on top of seasoned sushi rice that is mixed with seaweed salad and elephant gourd. The fish was very fresh always and the sashimi melted in my mouth like butter! The warm or cold sake is nice with the sushi brings out the flavors more ! Our servers are usually always nice and attentive and helpful. The Sushi Chefs know us and recognize us each time we go there and sit at the sushi bar . They many times have added free sushi to our plates . This is our favorite place to hang out at and best place we like for Sushi that is consistent and the fish is fresh and the prices are good especially on their happy hour menu which is all day. We were seated immediately. The menu is simple and there are good bento lunch options. But, I wanted a noodle bowl and I went with curry udon noodle bowl with fried tofu. The dish arrived steaming hot and I had to wait to take a bite. The dish looked excellent with lots of veggies chopped perfectly rather than a huge chunk. The noodle was not dipping in curry but had a good amount. The first bite I took and my tongue was thanking me. Great amount of flavors and super delicious. The noodles was soft and cooked to perfection. I loved every bit, even the tofu. The quantity was a lot, so saved it for my evening snack. My friends went with bento box where u can choose the type of rolls and Its a deal. I tried the shrimp tempura, it was bomb. Great food and a very good place.
