I ate lunch here about two weeks ago with a buddy of mine. He raves about the place and knows a few people that work here so I said sure, let's go. I'd never eaten here but am always down to try new sushi places. It was great in my view. At 2 pm we were among only a few customers so we got all the attention we needed from a simply gorgeous waitress who knew the menu front and back. Everything I ate was delicious. I don't usually eat edamame or miso soup but they were both tasty. I ordered Unagi, Masago (with a quail egg on top of one piece) and a Tempura spicy tuna roll. Everything was perfect in my opinion. I've only picked up orders from here before. So cannot comment much on service or the ambiance... surprisingly the 10 piece sushi combo was pretty good. I really liked the different types of them I got. The scallop sushi wasn't terrible but I can't get past the sauce on it. I wanted a regular fresh scallop sushi without any sauce. Been here twice before, liked their service and the casual atmosphere. Made a 5pm dinner reservation for two on a Wednesday night. Ordered tuna tataki and soft shell crab for appetizers. Conveniently located off of 101 & Thunderbird. We stopped in to get quick lunch on Saturday. We all decided to get their lunch special. The soup and salad were delicious. The salad dressing was spot on. All the food from teriyaki to katsu to tempura was absolutely yummy. We enjoyed our lunch; however, the portion size was really small. Came to Phoenix for Spring Training and came here with my family and overall had a great time. First, the service was excellent. Waitress was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. She always had a smile and answered all of our questions. It was a large table of 12 people and she did an excellent job taking care of us! The sushi was excellent. We live in San Diego and have excellent sushi there, but this place was great. The fish was fresh. Presentation excellent. And quality of the food was exceptional. Was in the area and found this place. The sushi was super good and they have so many roll options, it was hard to pick lol I ended up getting the zinger roll, mando roll and k3. Seriously all so delicious with the zinger being my very favorite. The quality was great. The sauce on the mando roll is different than other traditional baked rolls and it was so delicious, can put that sauce on anything haha! The servers were all so sweet and attentive. Our first visit was great! We were celebrating my nephews birthday and had a large party. Rayne was a great server. She was welcoming, attentive and didn't miss any of our requests throughout our stay. Bao (manager) was friendly and very helpful when some food didn't arrive. He rectified the situation, comped the dish and ensured all was happy. He also checked on us a couple times after. Hubby and I enjoyed our beef teriyaki & shrimp/veggie tempura plates. I have had sushi here several times and my experience has been the same. Excellent service. On previous visits, I tried several rolls which were delicious but way too expensive. Today I ordered the 6 nigiri combination with a California roll and a Coke. The sushi fish seemed dry, not as fresh as I would have liked. The rice was also dry. The avacado was almost non-existent in the California roll ...we're talkin' specks .LOL! My fountain drink Coke cost $3.95 which is ridiculous. I doubt that I'll be back. read more

If it's good enough for professional athletes, it's good enough for me. It's definitely a more Americanized style of sushi with mostly exotic rolls and deep fried tempuras. Hubby and I went in during happy hour, probably like 3:45p/4p and it was pretty empty which we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It's been a long time since I've left an updated review for here, and we've actually dined here a bunch of times since my last review. Anyway, Hubby and I just left, so decided to update. We started with the Combination Tempura appetizer. It was very good, though it tasted more like everything had been fried in panko, rather than a normal tempura batter. Don't worry, that didn't stop us from enjoying it all immensely!! I got the Philadelphia Roll and a plain Salmon Roll with Eel Sauce for dipping. Both my rolls were very good! Hubby got the Chicken/Salmon Teriyaki...he doesn't like sushi. He loves their teriyaki, so this is a regular entree he always orders here. As usual, he enjoyed it very much! Hubby decided to order a dessert of Tempura Battered Ice Cream. He enjoyed it more than I did. In fact, he practically ate the whole thing, I think I just took 2 bites. I know they need to over-freeze the ice cream, so it doesn't melt when they fry it. But, it was still soooo hard, my spoon wouldn't go through it, and the batter seemed a bit mushy for my taste. Our server, Madi, was so friendly and delightful. We always enjoy coming here, and I know we'll be back again soon. read more

My wife and I have been patronizing this restaurant since we started dating 15 years ago. The food is always great and the service is always excellent. I've never, among any/all of the restaurants where we are regulars, seen such longevity and loyalty among the servers, some of whom have had double-digit tenures at Kabuki because they love the ownership/management and customers. meh. I ordered the 3 item combo for delivery this evening. I went with the combination tempura, chicken teriyaki and salmon teriyaki. The delivery was fast, prompt and the food was delivered fresh and hot. First time ordering from these guys so I thought I'd take a chance and do some Yelp'ing at the same time. First, let's talk about this tempura. I've had tempura from numerous Japanese restaurants. I am very familiar and aware of what tempura batter is. Check out the photo of my tempura. That is not tempura. That's a panko breading you'd find typically used in chicken katsu or a cheap deep fried seafood restaurant. One thing I know for certain is it is NOT tempura. Words cannot express the disappointment that coursed through my veins when I opened this styrofoam container to find this... stuff. Ughhhhh. Edible? Yes. Tempura? No. Not by a long shot. I received two tiny pieces of salmon for my salmon teriyaki entree and a few sliced pieces of chicken drenched in teriyaki sauce. meh. Not pictured is a tiny styrofoam container of a spring mix salad and some miso soup. Not exactly what I had hoped for since I paid $23 + taxes + service fee + delivery fee + tip. Not likely I'd visit here in person much less ever order delivery from them. If you want true authentic Japanese cuisine, there are so many more phenomenal places here in the Valley to choose from. I can't in good conscious recommend this place to anyone interested in Japanese cuisine.
