so i went in to get 1 gel-x nail fixed. they told me $6, but it would be $7 due to polish. i go to pay - im charged $13. no single nail with pure black polish should ever cost an additional $6 to brush 2 coats of black paint. i thought it was a great salon until i got my bill - and they doubled down on their reasoning (which was that gel x manicure is $70....and apparently another $40 for polish?). not reasonable. they are precise and technique is solid...which is why i was considering returning. but after that lovely experience, I have many questions about how they practice their business. sure, i pushed backed back on $13 for one single nail - because you weren't upfront (and no, they did not back down or reason with me - so i paid it and left) the most appropriate action, for any business, is if they would have reasoned with the client and had a conversation where they met in the middle due to what i would generously call a 'misunderstanding' in this instance. i wouldn't trust any pricing if you walked through the door: the customer is wrong and they are right. read more

When I arrived, the receptionist greeted me as usual and I sat down for gel removal and a basic manicure/pedicure. The pedicure started with an attempt to drill my cuticles, which caused burning to the point that I had to ask the technician, "Eve," to stop twice. I get pedicures biweekly and have never had this issue before. She was very sweet as a person, but I do not recommend her for nail services. For my manicure, the technician (whose name I only saw as "Isamar" on Venmo, and who never introduced herself) mishandled my nail shape. I came in with one broken nail and clearly requested that all nails be cut square. She suggested "rounding them off," which in past visits has meant softly smoothing the corners of a squared nail. Instead, my nails were cut extremely short and rounded so much that they looked like a child's bitten nails. In every high‑end salon I've visited--including Marie Nails in the past--technicians shape one nail, check in, and then proceed only after confirming the length and shape. They also ask before polishing, "Is everything okay?" None of these quality‑control steps happened. No one checked in with me at any point, even as it became clear that I was unhappy. I went here once as I was in the area and needed my nails done badly. The seating arrangement was interesting as instead of being in a traditional chair for a pedicure I was seated on a bench. There's sinks below the bench for your feet. It worked out OK, but not as comfortable as a traditional chair. It was a very basic pedicure without any hiccups. Marie Nails is the BEST at gel nails and nail art. They're not nail technicians, they're ARTISTS, bitches. I go exclusively to *Harumi*, because I'm faithful like that... but also because she's always done phenomenal work. I referred everyone I know and their mom to this place. Oh yeah, I also brought my own mama here. And now she's bringing all of her friends. I'm telling you, just a year ago this place was quiet. Now it's outrageous!! You have to book an appointment. Be prepared, though, for the new conversation pieces that you'll constantly be carrying around after you leave the place. ;) You're bound to get noticed. Oh, and price-wise... it can get pricey, only because I choose to go balls out on my nails. To give you an idea, if you get Cal Gels, it can range from around $35 to $200.
