Was expecting an asian fast food restaurant so was a bit surprised to find a hamburger joint. This is a small, friendly hamburger shop with a variety of different burgers including the vegie and "garbage" burgers. There is also a selection of hot dogs, salads, seafood (aka deep fried aquatic animals). The portions are big and imaginative and the burger I ordered tasted fine. The meat didn't look frozen, I think it was fresh ground and shaped at a local butcher or market. But beyond that, I don't think there is really anything special about what they do. In fact the wall is covered in best burger awards for the local south coast of oregon. Only reason I have 4 stars (not 5) is because they use premade (not hand cut in house) fries. However, it seems the customers in front of us were thrilled to have options of taters, regular, curly or waffle fries so it works for them! In a land of corporate burgers this place is the original. This was one of our favorite burger places. Now very slow service and employees don't seem to care. Food quality is also declining. People who we watched order after us receive food before us. When I checked on our order I was cut off by the employee I was talking to. She had her answer ready. She said what she wanted to say and did so without me even completing my sentence. Had we not already waited 40 minutes for 2 burgers, we would have asked for a refund and left without eating there. However, the last few times we have ordered my husband's order (which is always the same thing) has been made different every time. My rating for Yeong's Place is simply a rating for their Reuben sandwich. My goal is to find the best tasting Reuben sandwich that Coos County has to offer. This, however, is not that sandwich. In fact, it is far from being the best Reuben sandwich in this county. Seeing as Yeong's Place is said to have the second best Reuben in Coos County, my expectations were high. However, the bread was not the correct bread for a Reuben, which is supposed to be a marble rye, and the bread was extremely soggy as well. The cheese was also supposed to be Swiss, but I got cheddar instead. In regards to the meat choice, the corned beef tasted a whole hell of a lot like pastrami. Also, the sauerkraut had little to no flavor. All of these errors could be due to the fact that the restaurant was busy and it took a ridiculous amount of time to pick up my to-go order. I'm a regular here when I'm in Coos Bay for work or driving to the coast. I've never had a bad burger here and the fries are to die for! (Although the sweet potato fries were a bit overcooked on one occasion. I'm sure they would have switched it out if I asked.) I've had the lamb burger(5/5 stars), garbage burger(5/5 stars), and mushroom burger(4/5 stars). The milk shake was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The prices on the menu for the burger include fries, but I believe they charge an extra dollar if you want something other than regular fries (i.e. Curly fries, tots, sweet potato fries, etc.)--totally worth it though, their sweet potato fries are so delicious! Friendly faces work here and the seating is nice and open (think diner style). If you're driving up or down the 101 and want a burger, visit Yeong's place and you can thank me later :). read more

The absolute best burgers on the Oregon Coast if not the state! I've lived in Coos Bay/North Bend most of my life and have been Everywhere locally. There are plenty of places to get burgers around here, but they are Nothing when compared to a Yeong's Burger. On a sunny day its great to call in a big order with friends and drive out to the Beach or down Cape Arago. They have a vast selection of Burgers on the menu and its not a problem to just make up a burger right there on the spot if you don't see exactly what you want. Well let me start off by saying .........the somewhat Asian name of this place is very misleading. I'm new to the area (only about 3 months) and I never would have thought I could get a burger at this place let alone a GREAT burger! I'm a fan for life! They have a great menu, decent prices, daily specials and a very friendly staff. Not just burgers available here either, they have a good sandwich menu including a prime rib french dip and a halibut sandwich. and the shakes are fantastic. The only thing that that keeps them from getting 5 stars is the dining room was a little on the dirty side. While we were there tables were not wiped down and there was some trash on the floor. (Don't get me wrong it wasn't filthy, it just could have been cleaner) They were very busy though almost needed another person on staff. (7:00 pm on a saturday night) The kitchen however is another story....The owner (I'm assuming here, as it was an older asian lady) was very busy in the kitchen. Besides manning the grill and cooking my very delicious and giant bacon cheese burger, she was also scrubbing down the grill between orders, wiping down fryers and scrubbing her hands every 5 minutes! The last time I ate here was a few years ago. The burger was just meh, not bad and not good but at least I did not see the problems I encountered when I went here on March 2nd, 2015. While waiting for my order I heard a customer complain about having brown lettuce on their burger. WTF? How does someone in the kitchen miss THAT? When I ordered I asked for a HAMburger, not a CHEESEburger. I had asked for a two patty HAMburger and was asked if I wanted cheese. I said no. How hard is that to comprehend? Apparently impossible for Yeong's, which much be Chinese for Yuck's but believe me I was not yukking it up when I got back with the order only to discover it was screwed up with some awful cheese. So if you want bad food and screwed up orders, by all means go vote with your $$$ to support this overhyped place. Lord knows we have no shortage of them in Coos County! On the other hand if you want a better burger and local places where orders don't get screwed up due to an inability to handle the English language, try Sizzler or Bay Burger Inn, places that have never done me wrong. read more

My family and I love this place and it has become one of our go-to dinner spots if we can't figure out what we feel like eating. I always get the chicken strips and they always taste freshly battered, nothing like the frozen fare at many other places. I love the sweet potato fries--they are addictive. My husband has ordered various burgers, the latest of which was the jalapeno burger. They are enormous and tasty. The kids meals are a great value. At around $5, they come with fries, a drink, and an ice cream cone. This definitely cannot be beat, and my kids always leave happy (although it takes us forever to leave because of the sheer amount of food put in front of them! Solid 4-stars on this place, yum! They have a fantastic menu of delicious and exotic meats from elk to bison to salmon and more all served in a 50's-style burger joint setting. I had the elk burger with fries and a peanut butter chocolate shake and the whole meal was AMAZINGLY good! One thing to note though - their portions are HUGE! If you're going with a friend and don't have a huge appetite, I'd recommend sharing a burger 50/50 and maybe just get an extra order of fries, though even the heap of fries (which were also very excellent) that came with my burger was ridiculously large. My partner on our trip got a normal burger and loved it too, but neither one of us could handle eating more than around half of our burgers. I was not hungry again after this for quite some time! ;D Once again, this place was recommended by a local when we asked him where HE would go for the best food in town. Make sure you ask what is THEIR favorite and point out that you're not looking for tourist-y food, but what the locals like best. You'll rarely be lead wrong by asking that! Yeong's has the best burgers on the Southern Oregon Coast. Yeong's has a definite divey feel but the food is anything but. You can get huge salmon burgers (nice unbreaded salmon steak), beef burgers, and more. Excellent shakes (the chocolate banana is a favorite) and large portions of either regular fries, sweet potato fries, or onion rings. I love the salmon burger with chipotle bbq sauce and sweet potato fries. The guacamole bacon burger is also a local favorite, and way better than anything you'll find at a fast food restaurant. Yeong's has a pretty small parking lot and limited seating; there are both booths and tables, and you order at a counter. A server will bring you your drinks, condiments, and meals if you choose to eat in. Service is usually fast considering the fact that this place is always busy, and everyone is very nice. It is usually packed so I would recommend getting your food to go and enjoying Mingus Park, Shore Acres, or one of the awesome beaches (sunset bay state park is a favorite). While you wait check out the WWII memorabilia and pictures of what I can only assume is the chinese countryside. read more
