Went to Lowe's to price out a tankless water heater and request an estimate to convert our 12 year old water heater. Had I known which company contracted with Lowe's, I never would have set up an estimate appointment. Yes showed up and I was immediately skeptical as I have had this company at my home in the past. In my past experiences, they claimed my home needed work and gave estimates in the thousands of dollars. Upon getting a second opinion on two different occasions, I only needed minor repairs for a fraction of the cost. When the Yes guy looks at my water heater, he says "I see the problem. It's your water softener." I said, "what problem? The water heater isn't broke. I am just interested in an estimate to convert to a tankless system." I told the contractor about my past experience which he said "duly noted". He then gave me an estimate of $8000. I replied "no thanks" and sent him on his way. I did get a second estimate from another independent water heater company. Their estimate started at $5500. I decided it wasn't cost effective to make the change and am replacing my old water heater before I need an emergency replacement. The new water heater installed is very reasonable and much less than Yes. I know this because on one of those previous occasions, Yes wanted to replace my water heater which was 9 years old at the time. I pulled the written estimate from my files that they gave me 3 years ago. Their estimate at that time was $650 more than my cost to replace it now from this other independent company. Thankfully, I am a cautious consumer. By going with a second opinion, I have saved myself thousands of dollars in over priced work and unnecessary repairs. Consumers beware. By the way, when Yes told me I needed a new water heater and other repairs, they were at my home as part of a service contract and not because of a problem with my plumbing. Went with Yes! because it was recommended by Lowes to replace our complete HVAC system. The no-pressure sales gentleman came out and assessed our needs and answered all our questions. The installation was not as cut and dried as it should have been. The heater/blower was original to the house and the cabinet housing had to be re-modeled to make the new equipment fit. Hat's off to Zach, Miguel and Fernando for doing an excellent job! It took over 6 hours and during that time they were professional, polite, knew their job and definitely customer oriented. We called them to come out originally because our toilet backed up into the tub! They came out and said the only thing to fix it is the Hydrojet. That cost $3053, if you purchase the maintenance program we will put a camera in the line for free and the cost will be $2593. All together with maintenance program $2893. I explained that our airflow was not working on one side of our mobile home, he said oh we have HVAC technicians. I will reach out to them for you. Robert comes and at first was concerned about getting dirty going under the house so he tried getting somebody to bring him clothes, then that didn't work so he says ok I'm about to get dirty, he didn't even crawl under the crawl space. He was out in seconds and said oh yeah I see it now and I understand the problem, we can fix that and it'll be $900 but because you purchased the maintenance program I'll take $45 off. So different guys come out and replace a section of ducting, they left and I had the same problem. Called them they didn't return my call and I had to call them again and then finally a kid comes to the house, Adam, he tells me we need a new unit all together. It's old and it's dirty and so on and so on, $$18-20 thousand dollars! I said absolutely not. We had an HVAC technician come to the house that has over 49 years experience tell us our unit was fine we just needed new crossover ductwork done and it is not a big deal to do, he couldn't do it because he had a bad back but just find a handyman even, because it's an easy job. Well when I told them that oh no your unit needs to be replaced and we can't help you, and we don't do the ductwork you need done. Excuse me! It's now 12:30pm and nobody is here. So I called the same number back and they had no record of my appointment and the woman I spoke to said that without that, there's nobody dispatched to my home. She only showed my contact info. But that was it. Super disappointed. I moved 2 meetings to accommodate a visit today. In comparison, when I made an appointment with the company that Costco uses (Sierra), they showed up when they said they would. Now I see why Yes! only has 2 stars with 500 reviews. Tried to sell me a VERY BIG job I did not need. Accepted their offer to have my 2 AC units and 2 furnaces inspected for a little over $200. After about an hour, I was informed by the technician (or salesman) that ALL 4 of my units (in a house less than 5 years old) needed to be replaced for various "serious" reasons. Was handed a quote for over $31K, but was offered a small discount if I could make a decision on the spot. Needless to say, I got a second opinion. Another more reputable company came for no charge to offer a second opinion - verdict was NO replacement and NO repairs were needed! After contacting Yes and being required to supply them some documentation, I eventually got my inspection fee refunded, but no follow-up as to what happened to the guy who tried to sell me a job I did not need. In the off season they will tell you that your heating unit is broken and needs expensive repairs but parts are several weeks out. Oh, but they have an option for you, it just so happens that they have a great unit at the shop that someone's financing didn't come through for. They can sell it to you for a great price . I bought a mini split system from Home Depot and contacted them about having it installed on my garage. They use Yes! Air as their recommended installer. I scheduled an appointment and the guy came out the next day. I met him at the house and we went over the job. He had to call two different people to explain the job to them because obviously he didn't know what he was looking at to quote. He says I am gonna take all your info and will get you a quote in a couple hours. He leaves.... Later that afternoon I get a call back stating that the install would be 5100 dollars and the electricians portion would be 5-1200 dollars. On top of the 5100 because they use different electricians for jobs and their price varies???So a little north of 7 thousand dollars to install a mini split system. He also said that if they supplied the unit direct I was looking at 9-10 grand. I paid a little under 1000 dollars for the unit from Home Depot. Lol.This just doesn't sound right. We just kicked this company out of our house for the second and last time. The first time they quoted a $2000 fix for a shower valve after they blew debris down the lines while installing a new hot water heater. Another company fixed the issue by replacing a cartridge for $200. This morning we had the techs come out to fulfill our service contract. They started by telling us the hot water heater, which they installed, was installed incorrectly and would need to be redone at an additional cost or the maintenance could possibly do more damage than good. This company called right away & offered free estimate (to see whether they would need to go on the roof. What our wiring situation was , etc.). We are very pleased with the service. They were on time & kept their word at every step. Arrived with mask & gloves. Knew a lot about which equipment would & wouldn't work with our age of furnace (1991 ;-) Robert M was our service person and we received out initial info from Brian, I think. I was concerned that I couldn't get a quote until they showed up. We were on a morning flight out of town before their appt. My adult son was going to handle this for us. When we landed at our destination, I calles my son to see how the install was going. I was stunned to find out that the quote was over $4000. As I mentioned, I had checked out prices before calling Lowes. Waterheaters were $800-$1200. How could it possibly be $4000? Not knowing better I contacted yes air as my air was not as cool as normal. ( they have radio ads all the time). They wanted 89 to come out but matched another company for 49. When yes repairman arrived. He stated there was a a restriction somewhere. I was informed my coolant line was frozen and it would cost 1500 to repair ( drain coolant, clean and refill line). I was also told it would have to wait to be fixed ( 110 degree days), I was told my condenser was leaking oil and almost shot (700 bucks). I had my doubts. I spoke to a friend who told me to run the fan and unfreeze the line. It worked to and is free ( temporary fix). I then had another company come out who fixed the issue and for under 200 bucks and stated there was no need to drain the line and there was no obstructions in the line. The other company stated there was also no signs of condenser leaking and suggested a follow up later to make sure line was holding pressure and not leaking vs system not getting proper air from air filters and or blower had a issue. ( not sure if I have a leak or if yes let coolant out causing a low coolant reading). I would look around before calling yes. I will never call them again based off my only experience calling for ac service in 10 years. Seemed very over the top expensive. Since yes air posted they cared. I reached out to them as personally the money I spent to have them out to possible get scammed after now 2 hvac companies have been to the house and informed me that everything yes told me was not needed and 100 percent out to get cash. Spoke to there corporate and local office. Don't be fooled by there response. They do not care, did not really want to hear the story of what happen and certainly don't seem to want to issue a refund for there horrible service. We called Yes to come and trouble shoot our water heater because the gas company had done an inspection and said that there may be a gas leak. The repairman from Yes inspected our unit and told us he couldn't find a gas leak, but we needed a new water heater. I was suspicious and wondered if he was just trying to sell us a new water heater, so I admit, I was a bit disrespectful. The young man explained to us that our tank had been purchased in 2009 and was provably getting old since these tanks usually last about 10 years. Finally, we agreed to get a new water heater and prevent a true emergency down the road. Luis, was most helpful and he took the time to explain all that was included in the purchase of a new water heater. I called Yes! about one of my downstairs HVAC units not working. He checked out the unit and said I needed a new one to the tune of over $14,000, but that he could patch it up for about $4,100. I decided to think it over and called another company. They came within the hour and did not tell them about the previous estimate from Yes! They came out yesterday to install a water heater. Not only were they on time they were early! Two very nice gentlemen came to look at the work. I wish I would have got their names but you probably look it up in your records. Anyway the one guy was the one giving the price quote while the other guy was the one to do the labor. Both professional, cleaned up after the install, took old tank away all in about two hours. They exceeded expectations on all levels. This place is an absolute joke. They installed a new unit for my mom 3 years ago. A year after she was getting so much dirt coming out of her air vents. They sent someone out and he checked over everything, no mentions of any issues but they offered a free duct cleaning( about the only decent thing this company has done) fast forward to now( another 2 years later ) and the ac completely dies. She calls them and they inform her that to have someone come out and check her ac that it's going to cost her $80 and they offer her a maintenance package. She pays the $80 and the technician comes out to check. He writes her up an estimate for $10,000. Yes. You read that number right. Apparently according to the technician there is all sorts of things wrong including "failing" ducts and they all need replaced. So, if they need replaced why didn't they mention it two years earlier when they did the cleaning?! Anything to get over on people and make money. Had another company come out and take a look, turns out the compressor is bad...which also seems ridiculous considering the unit is only 3 years old. If you want to save yourself a headache and money, do yourself a favor and go with another company. Stay away!! Service provider went out to one of my properties to do an AC tuneup. They called me and advised they cannot doe to "exposed wiring." But, yet they still charged me. They also do not fix this issue. So, I had an electrician come out, and they laughed because the "exposed wiring" was not exposed at all. It was "rock dust" that had hardened on the wiring from moisture. Nothing wrong with the wiring leading to the AC unit or its electrical source. I had a pipe burst in my house so with the insurance money, we bought a new water heater since ours had to be replaced. We bought the Rinnai one from Lowe's since it was on sale. A $2000 heater for $1300, couldn't go wrong! Come to find out that there are only authorized installation companies and Yes!, is one. So I asked for a quote. Guy comes I. And says if we bought his tank, it's $8000 but since I'm providing my own, it will be $5000! WTH? 5k to install a water heater that cost me $1300? Guy comes to install it and I have to end up coaching the plumber on how to find studs in the wall before he uses the hole saw to drill out my walls! Also had to show him how to patch the wall after he messed it up. Then I start looking online and come to find out that the NATIONAL average to install a tankless hot water heater is between $1200 and $2500! Yes DOUBLES the highest National average for what? I left shortly after and returned to a very hot upstairs. My unit is now not working. I contact them (11pm) to be told they can come at 8am. NOT acceptable I tell him. This is BECAUSE they were here.
