Back to Yelping after a months-long tendon injury that made typing damn near impossible. Life is good :-). Saturday night in Santa Rosa. We were celebrating a birthday and turned to Yelp for Indian food suggestions. I have never been in the community before and I was a little skeptical of what the dining scene would be like. This restaurant was near the Flamingo Hotel across the street and it was in a very nice area of the citynear the foothills. The restaurant opened at five on a Saturday night. We had a great booth with a view of the sunset and ordered appetizers and drinks. We ended up getting an Indian/Nepali/Himalayan food feast. It was delicious, memorable, and special. Much love and appreciation to the staff and chefs for making our evening special. Samosas (curried potato filling wrapped in a delicate pastry) Pappaudum (lentil flatbread- almost like crackers cooked in Tandoori oven. Lentil soup (slightly creamy and sweet base with a mild heat. The samosas were just drop dead delicious. They were served with a trio of sauces. The lentil flatbread was crispy, savory, and just right. Paneer, curried fish, and tandoori chicken were ordered and shared. We got brown and white rice, plus rice pilaf. And garlic naan. I loved the garlic naan. Tender and with a hint of butter and garlic. The tandoori chicken was fall-off-the bone tender and served on a sizzling platter with peppers, onions, and broccoli. The rice pilaf was a surprising standout with caramelized onions, currants, peas, sweet apple, and a slow burn from the perfectly chile-seasoned rice. The curry on the chicken and fish is a red curry with a medium heat. The samosa curry seemed more cumin and smoky-based. Both were delicious. In my opinion the tandoori cooking method is such a winner with the smoky char on portions of the chicken, it can't be beat. We had a delay on the rice (pilaf was brought instead of plain rice- but I asked to keep it!) and we received a mushroom dish instead of the saag paneer, which was brought out. Overall, our servers were pleasant and helpful, and the ambiance was delightful for a special occasion, with costs reasonable for the quality and variety of food. There was live music for part of the evening which was a nice touch. Our bill came to $126 w/o tip. I felt like everything was fresh and made to order and it was really nice to have a conversation and to be able to linger at the table. We had several servers, and we probably could have used a few more checks on water, etc. We had plenty to take home. Portions were generous but not excessive (the just-right principle). If we find ourselves in Santa Rosa again, a meal at Yeti is a must! Highly recommend. read more

Last night's dinner was phenomenal! I started this crispy onion appetizer that served with 3 dipping sauces. One sauce is bright green and refreshing. It had notes of cilantro and mint. The 2nd is a deep brown, slightly sweet like tamarind and last sauce is a deep terracotta rod and definitely had a kick of heated flavor. My tandoori chicken entrée arrived piping hot on a personalized iron skillet with brocolini, red and green bell pepper stripes, thinly sliced grilled onions and topped with a large lemon wedge. The meat was so tender and boasted some very superb flavorin addition to rice and garlic cilantro naan. I paired my meal with a glass of Gertztraminer. The wine was so good, I ordered a second glass! I will definitely enjoy eating here I the future. read more

Disappointing. Dal soup didn't have a single lentil in it. Literally paid $8 for a container of broth (see photo). Meats are clearly not cooked in the sauces they are served in so just lacking that pop you expect from good Indian food. Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka didn't have any depth of flavor. Garlic naan and honey naan were outstanding and had generous portions, but everything else was blah. There is a place literally around the corner called Cumin. It is so much better and pretty much the same price. Comparing dishes against each other Yeti tastes like a frozen entree compared to Cumin. read more

Went for lunch - several tasty and reasonably priced lunch special - but no take for these. Service was ok though could have been a tad more attentive considering how empty the restaurant was. Friend had the Momo's and I had a lamb curry. All quite tasty. Recommended - especially if you are looking for some place quiet. read more

Called in an order & picked it up 20 minutes later. Food was ready, hot & delicious. Lamb was tender and the tandoori chicken actually had some broccoli pieces in there which I don't often see. We were planning to go to the Yeti location in Glen Ellen as we had made reservations. But when our day in Santa Rosa got extended unexpectedly, we opted to go to the Yeti Restaurant on Farmers Lane almost right across the street/intersection from the Flamingo Hotel. This location is spacious and elegant on the inside with plenty of parking. We ordered appetizers like Nan bread, papadams, etc. the bread was soft, it almost melted, very flavorful. The restaurant was busy on Friday so service was a bit delayed for our main entrees. Still it was worth the wait. We had Tikki Chicken Marsala, an Eggplant dish and my favorite, Lamb Vindaloo. Delicious all of them. Yet I thought the lamb a bit tough and not as tender or flavorful. The potatoes in the dish were just right. And to my surprise, the eggplant was very good. Even though we were eager to get back on the road to home before nightfall, I couldn't resist a dessert. Kulfi with a cup of Earl Gray tea is relaxing and scrupulously satisfying. As much as I like the Glen Ellen location, the Yeti Restaurant in Santa Rosa is just as wonderful! Oh and my sisters liked the Winged Horse beer very much, they recommend it. And if you like Bloody Mary's, this place makes a yummy one, garnished and spiced! read more

I loved this place - really enjoyed the food, the service was good - and the bar has 38 WINES BY THE GLASS!! Something for everyone. Of course that's going to be a tough list to keep up with - I asked the bartender for something recently opened and he opened a new bottle - Nice! While Checking in on Yelp I saw that I could get a Free App if I ate it there, so I did - 1 Free Onion Bhajii. It was very good, like a fritter made Indian, Himalayan or Nepalese style. My friend's food was mild but still full of flavor how he likes it, and mine had a nice kick to it - medium, the way I like it. Service was very slow. We were guided to a table, sat down and didn't see a waiter again for over 10 minutes. We are just about to leave when someone finally came to our table. Having been to their sister restaurant in Glenn Ellen, I was looking forward to trying this location, and had high expectations. Sadly, I was completely let down. I'll start with the positive: - Their Naan is great and a generous portion - Their servers were friendly and attentive - Food was served in a reasonable time - The Hyderabadi Biryani was very good. The negative: - Chicken Tikka Masala. 8 chunks of what appeared to be boiled/microwaved chicken breast. It was tough to the point where even after chewing for 30-45 seconds you still couldn't swallow it. Also, the sauce just wasn't very flavorful. We returned it after the first bite. The server replaced our dish and the second version had edible chicken but was still pretty disappointing. -Aloo Gobi. The veggies were too al dente to cut with a fork. Sauce was weak and not very flavorful. -Chicken Momo. Meh! They weren't awful, but they also weren't anything special. I've had frozen dumplings from a bag that were more enjoyable. I really wanted to like this place, but I've never had Indian food that lacked flavor; I don't think I'll be returning. Next time I'll try the restaurant across the street in the search for my go-to Indian spot in the area. read more

We've been here twice now, and it's really good. Food is very tasty, and the service is better than expected. Naan is baked in a real tandoori oven, which is a real treat. Haven't had a cocktail here, but they have an impressive-looking full bar, and decent wine selection, too. The only complaint I'd have, which is more of a suggestion rather than a complaint, is for them to add a little more heat/spice to the food that could probably take some more, like the lamb vindaloo. That said, the food is flavored very nicely. And maybe it's not supposed to be spicy since it's more of a Nepalese-Indian fusion restaurant. Definitely go here if you're in the area. Made reservations for 7:30 last Friday night. Arrived at 7:00 as the bar pics looked cool wanted to have a cocktail before dinner. The bar was full with people eating, while the restaurant was only half full. what the monkey!? People must have figured out what wifey and I came to discover.....service is slow, you would get faster service sitting at the bar. We were seated promptly then straight abandoned for the next 15-20 mins....not cool. There seemed to be plenty of servers....they would make eye contact and just walk on by, this seemed to be the theme of the evening. Once our order was placed, it was only about 10 mins to when our food started making its way out. We orded the chicken masala, it was just ok, the chicken was over cooked the sause was just ok, no real depth of flavor. We also had the mahi tandoori, my wife is not a complainer, that's my job in the family BUT she said the fish was way over cooked...I had to agree. The naan was very nice and the kashmiri rice I liked it had a nice spicey kick to it. Here is the deal....we didn't finish our meals, not because we couldn't but because we didn't want to. There were plenty of left overs taken home. Once we were done, it took forever to get out check....same ole'...plenty of folks walking by, they see we are done but no one would come over. I had to flag someone down to ask for the check...then we waited again. I love coming here for Indian food. I like that this restaurant has a true Indian style of the restaurant because it makes you feel like you have a little piece of India for your dining experience. Our favorite place closed down so I wasn't thrilled about having to find a new Indian restaurant. I'm glad we gave it a shot because we were both quite pleased! I'll rate it 3 stars for now because we had some misses with service. Hubby ordered, as always, Chicken Tikka Masala and for once, the "medium" spicy was actually spicy. Yay! It was an average sized portion of the tender chicken and though he always wishes there was more, he left very satisfied. I decided to try something new so I went with CHICKEN SEKUWA, and the garlic cilantro naan. Oh gosh, I was in heaven. I loved the sauce! (Hint: it was super tasty the next day for my leftovers lunch! Yum!) As others have described, the naan is enormous. Pillowy soft on top, crispy on bottom, flavorful... perfect. Service can be funny when a restaurant is almost empty. (There was one other diner.) It's either very attentive or you feel forgotten and the latter was the case for us. We'll be back because it might've just been an off day. We're toying with checking out the Glen Ellen location as well so obviously we liked the food. :) read more

I just love the food at Yeti. It is delicious. My heat/spice tolerance is middle of the road and I find all their food on the milder side unless you request hot and spicy. Once I found out about their weekend buffet I have become a devoted fan. It is a great opportunity to try those dishes you have been wanting to try. We went to Yeti for my son's birthday. Unfortunately, the service was horrible, and the food is average. We all agreed the samosas we're good, however. I particularly didn't like the lobster masala which were four tiny freshwater lobster tails stuck in their shells. It was impossible to remove the seafood from the shell without putting my hands into the sauce which was ridiculously messy. The one I managed to eat wasn't that good either. None of us were asked what spice level we wanted which was odd. Also, the waiter ignored my son's birthday even though we mentioned it to him. Not a good experience. read more

Worst service ever - actually no service. Walked in and told the person at the front that I wanted to have a drink and place a togo order. I was going to order plenty of food for ten people. Sat at the bar with no service for far too long. Another couple came to the bar and sat down. After a minute or two someone asked them if they wanted a drink or food. The service was excellent and even though they had a large party and all the tables full it did not effect the service. The large party was a "weaning" celebration and we learned what this celibating is to the Nepalese culture. It is; hah! you'll have to look that one up. We are visiting Santa Rosa and decided to try this restaurant. The decor is beautiful and compliments the wonderful food they have here. We ordered the lamb Vindaloo, olive basil Naan and the vegetable curry. Everything tasted so fresh and incredibly flavorful. What made it even more outstanding was their use of Nepalese spices...We enjoyed every bite! If we lived closer we'd be eating here all the time. Our server Angbir Sherpa was such a lovely, kind man. Came here for the lunch buffet after a day of crabbing. We were starving, since it was about 1:30 pm when we arrived. I really wanted to fall in love with this place, but I was very disappointed. Why? Here's a few reasons: - Was not greeted by the server or bus boy upon arrival, just blank annoyed stares - Everyone was offered nan during the buffet, however my boyfriend and I were not (we were the only minorities there at the time ) - Not many options AT ALL in the buffet - Veggie curries were a little bland - Never refilled waters - Never took used plates away We were visiting from the East Bay Area and really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. Besides the decor and booze, there's not much to write home about. Perhaps a friendlier wait staff would've made the experience more exceptional. Had high hopes for this restaurant. We were excited to see that they had the Indian crepes, paneer masala dosa. The crepe was basically a crepe with sauce in it, no chunks of paneer, just a bit of melted cheese. The basmati rice was completely tasteless as was the dal. The only good thing was the bread. The service was also really poor. We got there when the place was empty and they served two other couples that came after us before us and they both finished their meals and left before we got our main dish.
