    Strawberry Matcha
    Leslie S.

Yia Caffe is super cute and feels like they have always been a part of the eastside. The staff are friendly and the patio is so comforting. I loved their strawberry matcha and their tamales de mole hit the spot. I'm not a huge coffee person but I still feel compelled to come back here and try the rest of their drinks :-)

This establishment is on a corner, almost missed drove right past it, it was a little challenging finding street parking. I did visit on a weekend which didn't help the parking situation. You Walk up and order to go or eat there in the cute outside eating area. Oaxacan tamales de pollo con mole are only served on the weekends. I was curious to compare with the Oaxacan Tamales that I had a few weeks ago in Oaxaca. I was impressed, a pretty good balance of sweet and spicy and rich and smoky. 8 out of 10. It was a little bit on the smaller side than the ones in Oaxaca, but that's to be expected. I also ordered a Oaxaca coffee, the coffee was good but It will need its own review for next time.

Rose butterfly matcha is really good. There's no parking lot and drinks do take awhile. I always park around the corner it's really hard to find parking so I always take the drink to go but the outdoor patio is cute.

Best thing about this place is the location/setup! It's super easy to stop by when you're walking your dog, or on the move in general. Ordering & pickup are outside at the windows, and there's outdoor seating as well. The drinks were good, but there was a bit of a wait. I assume its because they only had one barista working at the time, but I didn't mind. Through the window, I could see the barista measuring out the syrups on a scale, and doing their due diligence of putting (looked homemade!) cold foams back into the fridge after every drink. If you like coffee shops that dedicate extra time & care into their drinks, this is definitely a spot to visit.

    Iced horchata latte

Came across this spot on Yelp while working in a different neighborhood and in desperate need of caffeine. Now they have no parking lot and the streets they are on are not necessarily street parking friendly. However I was able to get a spot for a quick to go order. I went with their iced horchata latte. Prices are ok. The coffee was robust on espresso flavor and the horchata flavor profile took a back seat. Still good though! They have a patio you can sit at as well.

Beautiful patio area with natural touches.

Tried it for the first time and the Oaxaca Mocha is q 10 out of 10. The staff was polite and answered a few of my questions great service. The ambiance is unique. The vine umbrellas the entire patio if you're a nature lover you will love it.

Their Oaxacan Mocha, Is Delicious . The service is welcoming. Plus, It's Oaxacan-Owned.

This place is right on the corner of 3rd and Indiana st. Yia Caffe is a Oaxacan owned coffee shop in East LA. I came to try the Oaxacan mocha and why not try a tamale while I'm here. They only have them on the weekend too. I must say it's a must try the mole is sweet but the spicy overwhelms the sweetness. Great flavor. The masa was nice and firm. A must try when you visit Yia Caffe. I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I tried the oaxacan mocha which was good. Little bitter for those of you who like your coffee sweet. Dog friendly patio. There are even treats for dogs on the pick up counter. Not too bad of a wait after we ordered just took in the ambiance of the patio with plenty of seating to enjoy your coffee. Parking is street only no parking lot. Come early enough you can find parking in the neighborhood. I parked by the lawnmower shop. Enjoy your coffee.

Yia is a gem in the heart of Boyle Heights! 10/10! The Spanish latte is my go to drink and recommend a try. The ambiance is casual and makes it a great spot if you're meeting up with friends for a coffee date. The service we continuously receive from Leo and Jorge is wonderful with great customer service. They're both so willing to provide recommendations and suggestions.

    OAXACAN MOCHA!

Been here when it was another name, so not sure if its the same people running this place, but the coffee is still good to me and my favorite go to is OAXACAN MOCHA. A must try for those that like that bold cacao taste

Super easy to find business, west of train station, across the street. Literally on NW corner Street parking only. Can be not easy to snag Order at counter behind a window, can barely detect if staff is male or female Super professional & hospitable Staff Coffee took a min (& we both ordered regular black coffee, one iced & one hot) Average prices, don't remember exact amount. They have a container of napkins by pick up window & man were these napkins super thick like if you were eating ribs or wings) Hefty seating (only outdoors), like long picnic tables So much lush lushness in their patio !! So much beautiful greenery , so beautiful & such a vibe! While chillin for one hr approx, we witnessed a young looking dude, thin, med height, white passing, & he stood against the metal fence, east end of patio, facing East & peeing. Totally recognized the movement of shaking it off & zipping up When he turned to walk away, I blurted in a disturbed agitated tone "did you just pee?" & he said in a matter of fact tone "no! I'm not an asshole" So I'm deducting one star cuz the whole no public restroom thing is unfair & unjust & cruel I understand there's a Metro Rail Train station across the street so many assume that nasty humans make up the majority of Train riders so ofc public bathrooms at a business across the station is a death wish blah blah But I'm a customer. I decided to invest $10 approx for your goods & vibez. & I can't pee in your toilet? Anywayzzzzz I'll return & recommend for the lush vibez but I'm still unhappy at the no BATHROOM for PAYING CUSTOMERS

This coffee shop is tucked away on the corner of a moderately busy street, but once inside, it feels like a quiet escape. The outdoor patio is very charming, creating a green, oasis like atmosphere that makes you forget the surrounding traffic. The customer service was excellent, and the menu offers somewhat authentic Oaxacan inspired food. During my visit, I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and requested cinnamon powder on top. I was pleasantly surprised by both the presentation and the color of my coffee. It was just right for me, as someone who likes to see visually the coffee strength of a drink, the color of my drink made a great first impression. They also added a cinnamon stick and anise at no extra charge, which enhanced the drink and made it feel very cozy. I'm looking forward to returning to try other drinks, especially their matcha latte. The only drawback is the street parking, which may be inconvenient for some visitors.

    Mazapán latte and Matcha Horchata
    Luis G.

W coffee spot!!! Me and my gf went for valentines yesterday, service was fast, and lowkey will be our new spot. I got the mazapán latte and it was GOOD but wish it had more mazapán flavor or sweetness I'd say. We also got the matcha horchata and it was 10/10. Horchata tastes fresh/authentic. Cute seating too with lots of plants and art.

Only thing I knocked down a star is because Not all the workers know the answers to your questions of what is in what food item or if you can substitute the milks. So that's something Cafe Upper should train all staff. Especially if people have food allergies.

Based on my memories, this LA location keeps it consistent with a similar taste and texture as the NY location. 3.5/5 Chocolate Chip Walnut: This cookie was tall and slightly undercooked in the middle. The middle was a bit on the squishy side, and crunchy on the outside. Due to the undercooked quality, it's not a cookie I'd get regularly, though I am a big chocolate chip cookie fan. 5/5 Rocky Road: This was delicious. I'm not usually a marshmallow fan, but the addition of this ingredient formed a nice chewy consistency that I expect from a cookie. Chocolatey tidbits were well melted into the cookie texture and produced some fudgey notes. The cookie sizes are large and potentially shareable, and feel like an every once in awhile treat.
