I have been to many and most do taste great (its my favorite food), i am always satisfied with Yiasou. I love their fish soup and recommend it to try, octopus, which I find perfect, all spreads (I usually get mix spreads cambo), oysters and branzini. Had a very nice time in the restaurant until waiter bring a bill, its a rip off and skim to charge fish by the pound, who can check the weight, and waiter didn't explain the situation. we were charge $42 dollars for the whole fish. Unbelivable!!! When we ask to speak with manager he didn't even try to come and speak to us. He rudely reply to the waiter "Thats the price, we based on the Market price". The place has really fresh fish that tastes delish, but thats the only good thing about the restaurant. The experience my wife and I had with the server (Andrey) was poor to say the least. Im not sure what the deal was with the guy that was serving us, but when we asked him any questions or sugestion he looked anoyed and disgruntled . I ordered the grilled lamb chops that where cooked well but over spiced with rosemary, my wife had the grilled branzino that she enjoyed. The steamed vegrtables where cold. After bringing out the food he did not aproach us again to ask if we needed anything else. We had to ask the busboy for the check and finally 15 minutes later and an empty restaurant he finally brought us the check. My fiancé took me here for a nice change of pace. The ambiance is really nice and sitting outside was a very nice touch. We wanted to order something that was apparently only on the lunch menu, which was fine. They didn't tell us the price of what we wanted. We ordered the wild Alaskan salmon on top of Greek salad. My fiancées was good. The salmon was cooked through. Mine was not cooked all the way through. I am a very picky eater so I was less than pleased. We got the bill and it was over $100 for the salmon, Greek salad, and 2 sodas. We really felt we got ripped off and will certainly not be going there again. read more

One of the many cafe's-restaurants among the infamous Emmons Avenue, this happens to be one of my favorite in this area. Its been open for years now and I've been here countless times. I personally enjoy it best during spring/summer season when u get to sit outside and enjoy the breeze from the ocean but its just as good all year long. For lunch i really recommend "Mixed Salad" with your choice of either grilled shrimp, chicken or salmon. Their menu is extensive and will suit anyone's liking. No matter what you're eating, I guarantee you can find it elsewhere at cheaper prices. Yiasou was decent and I liked the food. Service was attentive and our meal was tasty. I had the grilled octopus and swordfish which was average. Their prices are pretty steep, but what do you expect from a Sheepshead Bay establishment. The Greek food here is not fancy-fancy like other restaruants. They just serve you huuuge amount of everything... They are not bad but it's like being served party foods. I think it's good for big gathering or party. I don't know if it's their big serving but after sometime you get kinda sick. lol. The appetizers are good. What a great experience, I will definitely come back! We came here for a nice early dinner in the summer and other times for group dinners. The service was great, and the food was even better. The assortment allows you to try a little bit of everything. We had the pikilia, tyrokafteri, Oktopodi Scharas, Garides Ouzeri, Saganaki, Dolmades, Horiatiki, Black Sea bass, glossa filet, Solomos can't even name the rest because we had such a variety each time. My favorite was the spicy one. The dinners were fantastic. My steak was cooked to perfection. One daughter had an octopus dinner that was as sweet as candy. My other had these amazing flat fries. Randomly came here with my husband on a Tuesday evening. On first impression everything was very nice. We ordered a Greek salad, grilled octopus and spinach pie. Got our bead along with our tiny salad - it was very tasty though! Grilled octopus and spinach pies were delicious as well. The reason I am giving a bad review is for the service. For such an expensive place I expected MUCH better. While enjoying our food we asked for extra bread... the waiter responded with "MORE BREAD??!?!?!" really? There are 2 more tables that were occupied at this time and this guy had the nerve to speak to us like that? I was completely shocked! Not to mention it took them about 10 min to get us the bills afterwards (oh and we never got our extra bread fyi) The reason I am giving this place a 2/5 (really want to make it 2.5/5) is because the food is only half the experience. read more

The salmon was not worth the money. The vegetables were overcooked and bland. The only good thing was the baklava. It was actually amazing.

This our favorite restaurant, where we often come with our friends and family to celebrate birthdays or just to have a great meal. The owners are always there, polite and friendly. The food is amazing, for those who were ever in Greece and crave the taste Yiasou Estiatorio is THE PLACE to eat. I read the review addressed to "normal people of Brooklyn",and can not understand, our family eats at this restaurant every week we never paid 70$ for any kind of fish or any other dish at this restaurant. The prices are moderate, the cook uses the best and the freshest ingredients. Maybe Alla P is more used to places who serve frozen fish, and therefore charge $10 for main course? I recommend to all people who love great, fresh food, good service, friendly atmosphere to definitely try this place!!!!!! read more

July 11 we had a small gathering in Yiasou! What a delightful time we had! The food was outstanding, especially fish and lamb. The owner didn't charge us for fruit and desert. It was a week day. The atmosphere was quiet but very pleasant at the same time. Would definitely recommend it to a small group of people or a family affair. read more

I don't know why this place got so many bad reviews??? I thought it was amazing. Everything tasted great! The food came out in a timely fashion and the servers were very nice! My favorite dish here is the shrimp scampi that comes with linguini! AH-MAZIN and the dipping platter with the pita bread is to die for. If you're a seafood lover you would definitely want to try the crab dip. It's just chunks of crab meat with cocktail sauce on the side. If you like lamb then try the lamb shank with risotto, I loved it. Tiramisu, Baklava and the chocolate cake here are awesome. My only complaint was that parking was a bit of an issue but the restaurant itself. Great! read more

My boyfriend picked out this restaurant for us to have a little valentine's day celebration. This place had beautiful decoration of red hearts, cupids bows and arrows on the outside, so looked very inviting. There are lots of fresh flowers inside and representations of Greek statues of gods and goddesses painted on the walls. I liked the set up of the place a lot. HOWEVER, the food was HORRIBLE: when you pay 32 for lamb chops, you expect deliciously prepared meat, not charred, overcooked and completely bland dish, with nothing on the side, not even some sauce? the one potato that came with 4 tiny chops was tasteless. we also ordered another dish, it said that it was baked lamb; it was the most disgusting thing I ever tasted, on top of it, I selected that dish with our WAITER"S advice!! what a rip off!! apparently when they say something is baked there, they mean it is a bowl of disgusting looking, soup consistency pasta topped with lamp shank bone popping out from the middle of the plate. ALL I can say if you go to the restaurant to eat, I dont think this is the place for you. Also they charge you 7 dollers for a 1.5 L bottle of pellegrino, the smallest one they have apperently!! Great place! I wanted to have a nice dinner for my graduation at a Greek restaurant, so I decided to go to Yiasou. I don't know where to even begin! I was with a party of five and we had this wonderful round table right by the windows, which we had an amazing view of the Bay. The food was delicious! The appetizers were outstanding. We began with a Greek salad, Horiataki, along with the grilled octopus, Oktapodi Scharas, and the flaming cheese, Saganaki. I've never had octopus before but I finally wanted to try it and my oh my was it really tender and delicious. My parents had the Rack of Lamb for two and they loved it! My grandma had the fillet of sole with spinach and mushrooms which literally melted in your mouth. My fiancé had a grilled Black Sea Bass with these amazing lemon potatoes. And finally I had Arnaki Yiouvetsi which is lamb shank with orzo. I absolutely loved it! We really enjoyed ourselves. The food was great, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere made you feel like you stepped right into Greece. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. i had a very pleasent dinner, just to keep it simple: ambience was great, appetizer zatziki was superb, spanakopita xxgood, fish good. Food was served in a slow way ( as I like to dinner so ), paired with good wine. it felt that the meal was prepared from scratch in the kitchen, I have a sensitive stomach but nothing bothered me, so good sign. Nice and well made greek food, you eat surrounded by Russians and it adds personality to the place. i'm Italian 1st generation, very demanding with it comes to food, but I would give this place 6 stars right away. This place I would not recommend to anyone .I know for a fact they lost 4 customers after our experience! After ordering a fish meal which I found flavorless and on the dry side , my friends convinced me to complain. Th e waiter took the the meal away. I waited for someone to come and ask me if I would like to Oder another dish ,but no one did .We called the owner , all he did was say I'm sorry I didn't like his dish,again not trying to please the consumer in anyway! this restaurant is the ultimate proof of the saying about opinions and how they all vary from person to person. I've heard ravishing reviews and nothing but compliments when people spoke about Yiasou Estiatorio, so when choosing a nice Greek place to celebrate an anniversary I figured why not try the cute place on Emmons...What a let down. The two stars are strictly for the food, lack of other stars can be attributed to the obnoxious and less then friendly waiters. As we walked in we were greeted by a girl that by the looks of her would rather be somewhere else granted that it was 8pm and she must've been tired, I still believe that a greeter should at least have a smile on their face..as she sat us down a waiter came up to us and asked if we wanted something to drink, my order of water without ice must've been too complicated from him because he sent another waiter over with a pitcher full of ice.. i knew from the start the service will be um..well..less then perfect if the waiter cannot get the drink order right.. in either case, as we opened the menu i was semi disappointed with lack of variety, most (90%) of the menu was seafood..well to be fair..it was fish, don't really know if the abundance of fish variety constitutes as seafood. In either case my date ordered a shrimp scampi and I decided to try 1 out of 5 meat dishes and went with grilled lamb chops. Although well prepared, it took about 30 minutes for us to get the order and I ran our of water before the food was out. As the waited brought out the entrees, he glanced at the glass and mumbled "I'll get you some water", before i can open my mouth to say "thank you" he vanished, 5,10,20 minutes later ..no water and no waiter in sight. Finished with our meals and sitting there chatting..our conversation was interrupted with a loud thud, the sound was brought on by a check dropped onto our table.
