Honestly, this is some good strip mall sushi. My friend and I come here after the Alameda Point Antiques Faire because traffic to get off the island is always batshit and we're usually pretty famished after a long day of antiquing. It's not much to look at and it's not the best sushi, but honestly, for the price, the massive number of menu items, service, and presentation, this place is great. This would be a great place to take someone who's a beginner when it comes to sushi or thinks they might not be into it. They have a crazy variety of rolls so you can get fresh rolls, fried rolls, and more. They also have about 300 pics of their menu items wallpapering the walls so it makes it easy to know exactly what you're getting. Super clean place, fast, and mega affordable. YoSushi has been my "go-to" place. They are inexpensive, quality of food is good and staff is friendly. I saw they had new item on their mene....Poke Bowl. Built my bowl with spicy tuna, Tako, and salmon. Added the wakame salad (seaweed salad). They mixed the garlic sriracha apnd ponzu for me. It was my first time eating here tonight and Yo Sushi made a fantastic impression on me! My husband and I popped in for dinner. It's a nice, casual dining joint. We were impressed by the clean establishment and warm welcome from the staff. The sushi is fresh, and service is friendly and efficient. You can order at the counter for take out, or seat yourself and get waiter service. Portions are very satisfying for an excellent value. They also have an insane happy hour special: a large hot sake for only $3, from 4pm till closing! They also offer boba drinks and desserts and accept credit cards. We were on the hunt for Sushi and wanted to try someplace new. We saw the reviews for Yo Sushi and decided to drop by and take a look. The name sounded familiar but I couldn't remember where I had seen it before other than perhaps having read reviews. When I saw the restaurant and the menu posted outside, I was ready to look for another restaurant (I wanted traditional sit-down service) but she said we should give it a try (she was hungry!). Okay, happy wife = happy life so we stepped in. Though it appeared to be the kind of place where you order at the counter and then they bring the food to you, we were told to seat ourselves. A server came over with menus and took drink orders. We perused the menu and decided to over-order so we could try more flavors. I almost always want Sashimi and Tempura. We both love Agedashi Tofu done well and I get the occasional craving for a simple California Roll. We also enjoy Hamachi Kama. Miso Soup - 4 - quite tasty without being overwhelmingly salty. Salad - 5 - simple, well dressed and served cold. Hamachi Kama - 0 - they were out of stock. Agedashi Tofu - 3 - was okay. wouldn't order it again. California Roll - 3 - supermarket quality. Gourmet Sashimi Combo - 3 - decent quantity for the price but somewhat bland. Hamachi and Salmon were good. Seafood Tempura Combo - 2 - container of dipping sauce was too small and difficult to dip items into it. notice that each seafood has a different color breading? that tells me that each one comes to the restaurant breaded and most likely frozen. either the fish was in ninja mode and blended in with the other seafood or they forgot to give us any. wasn't worth complaining about. I read reviews of this place and I wanted to try this place for myself. We stuck to the cooked dishes and have yet to try the sushi or sashimi dishes. As we were seated, we were welcomed by the cashier/waiter and he was very attentive. We ordered the two item dishes so we had the beef teriyaki and gyoza, chicken teriyaki and tempura and beef teriyaki and tonkatsu. We were served miso soup which was hot and hearty. The little daikons in the bento box were cut up in little pieces making it easier to eat. The price was reasonable for the two item special only $8.95. Their menu has a great variety of dishes, teriyaki bowls, donburi bowls, udon, ramen as well as all kinds of rolls. The prices match the quality in my opinion. The fish in the rolls are fresh and the flavor is good. There are a lot of varieties of rolls to choose from. Although in case you may not be into spicy rolls, be sure to ask if the sauces they include on the rolls are spicy. My friend ordered the Scorpion Roll and the description said "special sauce" but didn't indicate that it was spicy and she had to scrap it off her roll. Besides the scorpion roll we had the Giant (which wasn't big but still good and included a good portion of fish), Bonito Dragon, and the Cherry Blossom. The atmosphere was quaint with cute pictures on the wall. The place is small and looks more like an order and take-out place but it's clean. The servers were nice and were efficient and reliable. Overall this is a good spot if you need a quick sushi fix but from the rolls I had so far I think they all faired well but didn't completely wow me either. But to each their own! My spicy california roll had multiple end pieces, the avocado was rotten/brown, and it had a funny taste. Which leads me to believe that the chef used leftovers from other rolls to create my roll (really gross). they knew that the roll looked nasty, this is how I know: when I order the spicy california roll they usually put a tiny dot of spicy sauce, however this time they knew that the avocado was rotten so they put a larger amount of spicy sauce to try and cover it up. The chefs knew what they did because when we called up there and complained the chefs didn't even deny it. It is a place where you preorder then sit down and food delivered to your table. I ordered the Agedashi tofu very sizable portion for $5. I thought this was well presented covered with bonito flakes and furokaki. The dashi on the side was perfect accompaniment. I also enjoyed the Donkatsu ramen. Broth was creamy with the right amount of salt. The noodles had the right texture and bite. Highly recommend this place when you have a Japanese craving! When I had a minor take out mistake where they forgot the miso and rice to my entree they gave me store credit and I got a free meal when I went back to eat for lunch. While it is at a quiet end of the strip mall, the spot has seating outside and in, and while I'm not sure if there is wait service, for to go orders you order at the counter. While there are handheld menus, there is also the appetizer/entree menu behind the register, and a wall featuring all the rolls that they do. -Gyoza: 6 fried gyoza with oddly-but-it-works tempura sauce. These were affordable and tasty, would get them again. Salmon skin handroll: I didn't see handrolls on the menu, but they said it wasn't an issue to make them. This was a huge handroll, with some pieces spilling out. Also, very flavorful. Sushi & Sashimi Combo: These combos are a STEAL! You go to any other sushi spot in the area and order 5 pieces of nigiri, 6 pieces of sashimi, and 6 California rolls, it would come out to over $20. Here it's $13.50. And this isn't the only combo they do that is incredibly affordable. Now the tuna didn't seem the highest quality, but it was a minor thing considering it still tasted fine, as did all the others and the portions were nice. Would get this again, or another combo. As I was mostly focused on fish, I didn't even really look at the cooked dishes, but likewise incredibly affordable and worth ordering. To kill time while I waited, I went to the Lucky grocery store - which does have a few sake options if you want to go that route. This last order of rock n roll and an order of tobiko nigiri and ikura nigiri was not up to their usual standard. The rice was completely gooey. I was barely able to eat it - $23.00 I expect decent rice since rice is everything. The tobiko and ikura was fine but if your rice is terrible then it ruins everything. We got some dude's small sushi order, and presumably Some Dude got our big udon, ramen, and sushi order. So I called grubhub and they refunded our money and sent us on our way. Fam and kids we re bummed and we ate rice and beans and sobbed in out water. BUT THEN, i got a call from Kevin at Yo Sushi, who offered to bring us our whole order! And within 10 minutes, they did. I like how when you eat there and want tea, they give you your own mini Teapot so you can refill your tea as you wish. The service is very friendly, they always greet me with a smile coming and going. The service is also pretty quick, and it seems to be a popular spot.
