Miso soup combo with extra protein smh.
    Michelle Z.

I ordered miso combo soup from here again. As I am eating, I notice these C shape worm like things floating in the broth. I pull one up and damn skippy, it's a worm or a maggot i don't know. Either I got rotten meat or unclean veggies. A waste of fucking money. I don't think it's the same people who started this place and if it is your too damn comfortable. It is not okay to serve people bugs.

    I love it

I called and ordered to go pick last 3 times. The food were very yummy and fresh. The always cook ready for pick up around only 15 minutes. The young lady and guy who worked there were very friendly to me. This is a very good spot for my daughter and I bc we can get all kind the food from here : American, Chinese and Japanese food !!! We love this place hope they will always be open.

Me and my wife love this place! We always Order from them and I love how they just have everything. (Chicken Wings, Sushi, Pot Stickers, Cheeseburger, Chinese, Chow Mein, Etc.) they have a lot and more I hate looking at the menu because I just want everything. I recommend the Chinese food and sushi. Try the place out yourself and let me know how your experience was! Wish it was a bit cheaper so I can get more but it's good though and never had any "problems".

Generous amounts of ginger and wasabi!!! California/Spicy Tuna Roll!

I've always LOVED everything from them except the spicy tuna that I just liked lol. Ingredients always taste, smell and look fresh, BIG BONUS! Salt and Pepper chicken is boneless and DELICIOUS my little cousin loves it but beware it's kind of spicy! Their fried rice and noodles always arrive hot and loaded with ingredients. Their DRY FRIED RIBS ARE BOMB and can be made spicy! Wor Won Ton Soup is soooooo goooood! I had a bad cough and it was JUST WHAT I WISH MY DOCTOR ORDERED! Won tons were plump and filled with meaty goodness (that's what she said, HA!), broth perfectly seasoned and veggies boiled to perfection! Last but not least MY FAV IS THE SALMON BENTO BOX!!! THE SALMON IS A MUST TRY WITH THE TERIYAKI SAUCE!!!

Similar to Alex T's statement, this is also my go-to restaurant when I just want something close-by and eat at home. They're conveniently located on Fruitvale and they're connected with EAT24. I usually order for pickup through Eat24 and my go-to orders include the sesame chicken and honey walnut shrimp. If you're looking for quality Chinese food, then this isn't the restaurant for you. However, if you're looking for FAST and CONVENIENT food then this is a good spot to consider. Last night, I tried their sushi and it's not bad but it's also not great. It reminds me of the 'all you can sushi buffet' type of sushis. Overall, this is a OK restaurant and it's good enough for a rainy day in.

    Delivered Bento box
    Tiffani B.

This review is simply about the delivery guy. Yesterday I order delivery on eat24 app. And the total for my order was $29.57 (paid with cash). The delivery guy gets here and I hand him $40. So I'm waiting for my change. He goes in his wallet and hands me $5 and walks off. I say excuse me this is not all my change you owe me. He then says "you give me $5 tip". I said give me the rest of my change. He says " how much tip you give me" then hands me $3. And says you give me $2 tip, laughs, then runs off. I was so pissed off. Still am. If he was patient and wasn't trying to take my money and hassling me for a tip he would have got the tip I planned on giving him. Dear Owner, You need to teach your delivery guy on what to do and what not to do. He had no right to tell me or anyone what we are going to do with our money. And no right to try and force a tip out of them. I always order from your business and I love your food. But your delivery guy seriously needs a lesson on how to be a proper delivery man.

    Teriyaki chicken and miso
    Francisca H.

I ordered threw grub hub tonight and I'm impressed! I almost never enjoy delivery in my area and I'm always disappointed. But today I found my go to delivery place. I got the teriyaki chicken, miso soup and gyoza. All were were tasty. The teriyaki chicken was good, quality thick chunks of meat. With the sauce on the side so it didn't get soggy. I got miso soup which was yummy! It came hot. it wasn't too salty, a lot of miso soups are too salty for my taste. The gyoza was fried and was crispy. One order had 8 pieces I ate all 8! The delivery guy even came 20 minutes early. Well done fortune :)

    hamachi roll, salmon sashimi
    Alexa W.

I haven't tried their Chinese food yet, only the sushi items and I must say I was quite pleasantly surprised. Usually, I don't order sushi at a Chinese place. That's just stupid :-) But in this case I was desperate (and had my back thrown out AGAIN) and needed some comfort food. Since they seemed to be the only place on eat24 to deliver sushi to my hood at that time, I just thought "screw food poisoning" and ordered. I had tuna poke, sashimi and hamachi roll. All really excellent. Will def. order again!

Ordered via Door Dash. My salt & pepper chicken was burnt and dry. Swing and miss on this place. I wouldn't try it again.

Unfortunately, after my recent visit, I can honestly say it is not the same restaurant I fell in love with years ago. From the moment we walked in, everything felt cold. The atmosphere was cold, the service was cold, and the overall vibe was completely unwelcoming. Then came the food, which was the biggest disappointment of all. The dishes we ordered tasted nothing like the recipes I remember. I honestly found myself wondering if there are new owners because there is no way this is the same Monkey King from years ago. What made it even worse is that I chose this restaurant to celebrate my son's graduation. We waited around all day for them to open at 5 PM because I was excited to share a place that used to be one of my favorites. Instead, we left severely disappointed. Sadly, this visit was enough for me. I will never spend another dollar here, and that's something I never thought I would say about a restaurant I once loved so much. 1/5 Stars. What was once worth the drive is now a place I'll never return to. They also need to work on bringing all of your food to the table at once because in a very cold restaurant bringing out one dish at a time and it taking 20 minutes to bring out all of our food. Our food was cold by the time everything hit the table never again ever in life. Will I do this?

The decor gives a tropical vibe with lots of greenery and bistro lights. The food, which was amazing, came out quickly for the first 1/2 hour. Then as the place filled up, it took a while to get our dessert. So, if you're in a hurry, I suggest coming early. What we got: + Kids chicken wings - these are crispy wings and drums that have no sauce. The kids ate these up! + Angel wings - more chicken wings, but these are coated in chili sauce. + Curry puffs - these are fried pastry filled with curry potatoes. Kinda like a blend of samosa + empanada. + Phad ke Mao - flat noodles with veggies, chili sauce and basil. Optionally add protein. This was very delicious and one of my favorite dishes. + Broccoli stir-fry - you can optionally add protein. This was your typical broccoli beef (or other protein). + Yellow Curry (with chicken) - again protein is optional. This was really good. The curry was very flavorful with chunks of potatoes and sliced carrots. + Fried bananas and ice cream - the banana is deep fried with a light crispy coating. Was a nice way to end the meal. We enjoyed everything here, and best of all, the kids did too. A really nice family restaurant in a convenient location.

Salt & pepper fish with fried rice - the literal star of the show; the fish was so flaky and perfectly seasoned; the fried rice was perfectly cooked. The service here was just okay. We had 2 ladies serve us and they were both so nice, but they did forget items for our order a few times and they did forget our drinks. We started with two plates of calamari for the table. They were fine--crispy enough, not bad at all--but nothing that made the table fall silent in amazement. Solid appetizer, just not the headliner. The real star of the night? The steak-wrapped mango. We ordered two plates and honestly could've ordered a third. Something about that sweet mango paired with savory steak just works. It's that sweet-meets-umami combo that makes you pause mid-bite and think, "Okay... that's actually really good." For my entrées I went a little wild and ordered both the steak clay pot and the salmon clay pot. I ate the steak there and took the salmon home for later. The steak clay pot was excellent--rich flavors, comforting, and exactly the kind of dish you want when you're sitting down with a big group and taking your time. The salmon clay pot, though, was just okay when I had it later. Maybe it's one of those dishes that really shines fresh out of the kitchen. Also, the portion felt a little small for the $20-ish price range. Where Dragon Rouge really pulls ahead is the setting. The views of the bay are great--you can see the bridge leading into Alameda, and it's apparently one that lifts for boats coming through. I didn't catch it opening while we were there, but even just watching the water and the lights around the bay added a cool vibe to the night. Another big plus: they were super accommodating for groups. We had a work dinner from surgery and they even let us bring in two cakes, which was really nice of them and made the whole night feel relaxed and celebratory. If I'm judging strictly on food, it's probably around a 3 out of 5. But add in the views, the group-friendly vibe, and the overall experience, and it easily climbs to a 4 out of 5. Great spot for big parties, work dinners, or just a relaxed night with a view of the bay. I'd definitely go back.
