I stopped to grab an order of Beef Noodle Soup for dinner. It was near closing, so I took my order to go. I saw Pig Feet on the menu, so I added them too. As soon as the lady Mgr saw me she shouted "Hey! I saw you reviewed that other place.....who's got the best noodles?!" I said...."Whoa, I didn't know there was a competition between spicy noodle places." She's talking about Xiang Xiang at Marina Village in Alameda. These two spicy noodle places are similar, but different. Chong Qing Noodle House gets my 5-stars for serving up a rich bowl of noodle soup. As spicy as you want it. You must have spice to bring out the flavor. I had thick ropey noodles, and big pieces of beef. They were out of beef tendons. But more noodles, the better!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This noodle house didn't have the most pleasant smell when we walked in, and the space could have felt a bit cleaner[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the food made up for it. I had never tried knife-cut noodles before, and they were so delicious. The texture was chewy and perfect for soaking up the broth. The meat could have been more tender, but overall, the dish was flavorful and satisfying. Pro tip: Don't wear white when eating here! The soup is super red and will definitely stain if you're not careful.

We came for a birthday lunch and we love this place so we were elated to eat here again. The owner was very friendly and gave us the lay of the land. We got the cucumber salad, spicy wonton and I got the beef and tendon noodle soup while my SO got the ja zhiang mian. Everyone else also got the beef noodle soups. The food is plenty flavorful, filled with spicy and fresh / tender meats. The food was top tier again and does not miss.

BEST TAIWANESE BEEF NOODLE SOUP IN THE BAY!!! Wow tho spot got the no frills but standing on business energy. They don't come to play with their noodle soups. The 台灣牛肉麵 was rich and flavorful, beef was so tender, broth got depth (no MSG/didn't leave you feeling thirsty after), and noodles cooked to perfection. Even the bokchoy in the soup was good lol, super fresh. Service is efficient. Would love to try the hand cut noodles next time, as the machine was broken when we came by today.

Great service great food good price! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restroom can be accessed outdoors by their outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered a no spicy cucumber salad, beef tendon noodle, beef brisket noodle, and pig feet noodle with extra veggie. Lady remembered me from the first time! Very hard working chefs and staff at this restaurant that are committed to serving fresh delicious food. Enjoyed talking to us about the food and customers. Less business lately I hope things pick up for this deserved restaurant. Cucumber salad- delish we can hear her smashing the fresh cucumbers per order. Nice vinegar cold tang on a hot day 9/10. Beef brisket noodle- very tender meat and tendon very moist soft and strong in flavor. Broth is extremely rich in flavor no artificial taste. Noodle freshly made and cut love the texture. Slighting thicker noodles not too chewy and not too soft for my liking. Very generous serving of noodle and brisket. 10/10

I love a good bowl of knife cut noodle soup! I'm glad I was finally in the area to try this place. I came at an off time so it was very quiet which I enjoyed. This place is low key and no frills. Portions are very generous and you will be full! Food came out pretty quickly. It is a little heavy on the oil. Although I asked for it not to be spicy, they did it anyways (I'm not mad as I like spicy but I wanted to try it non spicy and was going to add hot oil/sauce on my own). The meats were very tender on both the rib and the beef. Definitely would come back again. They didn't have skewers available when I was here and not sure why but definitely want to try those. The honey wings were very oily. Tasty but I wish they had drained some of that oil before bringing it out.

Reviews and pics look amazing. Chose a simple soup as I'm sick today. Delivery was timely. Soup size was a bit smaller than expected but did the job. I just wished it had more veggies. Flavor was good and good amount of wontons!

I feel like this is such a hole-in-the-wall local gem! The food was super flavorful and delicious. When the side dishes came, we instantly cleared them. The noodles were also really authentic and yum. Also super friendly owner who makes you feel at home :)

Spicy beef noodle soup with tendon- nice sichuan spice. Loved the handmade wide noodle. Would come back to try other things on the menu.

I feel conflicted about this place! I visited on a Wednesday evening about 5:30PM. I found street parking a block over, with the usual post work traffic. There were no other customers when my friend and I were there and the owner was very kind, but a bit overwhelmingly kind. The type of kind where you decided on one item, and the owner talks to you until you choose the item they want you to order. I think she means well, but It was a bit overwhelming. So, my friend and I ended up getting the same thing, as this was highly recommended. Highly recommended by the lady. [Chili oil noodles with ground meat 3/5] $18 The noodles were clearly not fresh, as it came stuck together. As if they had cooked it early in the day and let it sit in the bowl for a while(Usually, when you cook rice noodles, if you let it sit for too long, it sticks together). No matter how much I tried to mix the noodles with the overabundance of chili oil(which later cause an upset stomach for my friend), it still clumped. I didnt care for the oversalty meat, and ended up wishing Ihad ordered what I originally set out to order. The food came quickly though. The lady came to check on us a few more times and recommended more food. Though, neither of us were quite interested. My friend kindly told her, "next time!". Will probably skip this spot and go to my favorite noodle spot down the street instead, but it is always good to try new places. Also, my friend did get sick for the next 3 days. Maybe from the food. The food felt super oily and not all that fresh.

I feel bad giving this place a low star rating and hope it was just a fluke. Came here with a friend on a Wednesday night - it was empty so being seated and served right away was not an issue. The owner/chef was there and right away assisted with helping us decide what to order...a little too well considering we were told what to order by her. Food came out very quickly and we both got the Zha-jiang noodles spicy (dry). Overall presentation was good it looked delicious and a good portion size. The meat had flavor and was very soft. Downsides - The noodles were all clumped together Everything was extremely extremely oily Later that night experienced massive stomach cramps that landed me in the bathroom in the middle of the night and through out the day. Since I did not read other recent reviews like this I am thinking its a fluke, but once is enough for me and I will not be returning.

We came here to try some of the noodles and it was amazing and spicy. The soup was slightly sweet and the broth was so good.

We came on a weekday evening, and it was packed! The sound travels here so that it can get really loud and busy. The inside is super casual with seating for large or smaller groups. The service by the staff was good. Our food came out quickly, and everyone was friendly and checked in on us. We ordered the Tom Kha, Nam Khao, Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps, Pineapple Khao Pad, and Geng Ka Ree. Everything was fabulous! Lots of great flavors and spices. The portion sizes were spot on. My favorite was the Nam Khao and the Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps. I love the bite-sized and sharing family-style. My companion and family also enjoyed it. If you like Laotian food, Bhan Mae Vane is a must-try in the East Bay! Find them off Webster Street with street and neighborhood parking. I look forward to going back!

Do you like the funk?…read more Our server explained to us the Lao version is more funky and fermented, while the Thai version is more mellow. We went with the Lao version. The Thai iced coffee was delicious and strong! As it should be. It did give me the jitters though because I'm a weak sauce. We were a party of ten and I was able to make rezzies via phone for a Friday evening at 6:30pm no problem about a week beforehand. The kiddos ordered à la carte, and five of us adults had the following: - BMV ultimate papaya platter with Lao sausage, angel wings and crispy pork. Crispy pork was legit, papaya salad definitely had that extra funk. The angel wings were crispy and meaty and my friends loved the Lao sausage. One even said "it's like tom yum soup in a sausage". It was very lemongrass forward which is not my thing, but that's my problem. I feel we could have ordered à la carte and that would have been a better deal than $75 for the platter. Some of it was fluff like the cabbage, rice and pork rinds. - Khao soy soup: Fiancé thought it would be creamy and coconut-y like the Thai version but it wasn't. I did enjoy the flat noodles but they were all stuck together. - Pia pla ka pow (fish with basil): Good one. The fish was moist and flavorful. The veggies were al dente and delicious too. - Sakoo: Unique! I enjoyed the chewy mochi exterior and the savory ground pork filling. It needed a sauce. I just used the chili sauce that was on the party platter. - Laab Gai: This fell flat for me. I'm not a huge fan of organs though. - Nam khao fried rice: One of our favorites! The crispy pieces really made this dish. Would definitely order this again. - Mango sticky rice: Served warm. Very sweet mango! - Purple rice with egg custard: Also served warm. This was ok. - Side of rice: HUGE serving! Unfortunately it was clumpy and hard, which means old. Street parking only. Get the nam khao and mango sticky rice!

It looked like there were only two people working (one person in the back cooking and one person in the front of house). The atmosphere itself is kind of basic looking and quiet. As for the food (the most important part), it was pretty disappointing and didn't really taste authentic to me. 1/5 - Renkon Mentai Ae - this was a hard eat for me, but I feel like it can be better if they torched the mayo. 5/5 - Green Tea - the hot roasted green tea was so good that I had to ask them where they purchased their tea! 2/5 - Miso Ramen - the broth didn't really taste like your typical miso ramen (it tasted kind of weird), the toppings were a bit strange to me (e.g., chopped cabbage, big chunks of scallions), the egg was overcooked, BUT the ramen noodles itself were pretty tasty and slightly el dente. Overall, it's definitely cheaper than some ramen spots around the area, but would no be my go-to.

The Hiroshi Tonkotsu was loaded with noodles. The broth was a little salty. The Chicken Wings were okay, I guess. That's because it took nearly 30-mins to serve them.
